I've tried with out much success to change the function of the volume controls when held down so that they scroll up and down instead of launching voice dial or recorder.
It's probably glaringly obvious but i was just wondering if there is a reg entry i can change as if you go to settings\buttons and change to scroll up and down respectively it only shifts once?
Tried smartskeys but it didn't do anything.

yes please I would love to know this as well. I read about smartskey but I don't think it will work.
I've tried a few apps now, that people have used on other devices, without any luck. They either don't do anything or stop the buttons from doing the volume.
I think the reg is under HKCU somewhere but haven't had a good look yet.
I want to find the reg entries that pertain to the up down for the dpad and then find the reg entries for the volume buttons when held down and change them for the ones for the dpad.
Problem is i don't know what they are called. Yet
I've found the reg entries so now i just need to work out where to point them to:-
HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\SHELL\KEYS
40C1 = button 1 which is camera
40C2 = button 2 which is voice speed dial
40C3 = button 3 which is voice recorder
Anyone know where the reg entries for the dpad are?

So do i but for now i'm a bit stuck without knowing the reg entries for the dpad up down.

I thought this was as simple as changing the settings > buttons - setting from Voice Recorder to tbd and the Voice Dialer to tbd, did that but it still only changes the bloody volume.
Ideally i like an easy access, OK and Start Menu key.
The new messaging client is driving me batty. Two major issues:
(1) Delete is the default left softkey when a message arrives?!? Lost more than a few messages this way. Is there a reg entry to change this?
(2) Dismiss, which should be the default and easiest option, takes using the Menu right softkey, navigating up, and selecting it. And it doesn't mark the message read! That has to be a bug, but can it be fixed?
When i get a Text the left soft key is reply. the right soft key has always been that menu button and seems to be fine...
You're probably right, but in that case I believe Delete is still the default option when Menu is selected, and Dismiss still doesn't mark the message as read.
It driving me crazy too ! Palm messagin was so much better ...

edit 12-28-If you want to remap the soft key buttons. like you want the right button to say action instead of the left do this:
Here is the way to change the homekeys IN TFLO 3D.
In a registry editor, go to:
HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/
Here is:
HomeLSKPath, which is the left softkey (Standard = Phonepad)
And
HomeRSKPath, which is the right softkey.
If you change these with the location of the programs you want to link to, and simultaneous change the names:
HomeLSKText = Left softkey text
And
HomeRSKText = Right softkey text.

Found this action screen app in the Diamond forum. It works great on my Sprint Touch Pro and has the original tray and hero Sprint Icons. The soft button on the home screen gets remapped to say Action. See the screens.
The cab works flawlessly on my HTC Touch Pro. But...always a bug. The calendar tab did not work at all. So I toubleshot the values in the registry and found this works. Some changes I had to make after installing the cab.
Use your registry editor to change the values so that the appointments tab in the action menu works.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\APP_3
Change Param to appointments -new
Change Path to \windows\calendar.exe
Works perfect
Make this change too so that an email opens ready to send...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\App_0

I decided to remap the entire screen into a circle. See the attached jpeg. It works great. i am going to cab up the registry changes. you will have to first install the Sprint Cab. Then the circle theme with the above changes.
I hope you like it bc it took a hella long time.

Only the screen action button is activated. you can still push the hard key to get the phone. and remapping any of the buttons is possible through Advanced config anyway.
So i made a new theme that fits my needs better. Also you should know that there are possibilities of mapping the action screen buttons to your liking. I have seen most with different options. These are just the options I like
After you load the Sprint cab from post one. You can use total commander to move these files into windows\action. Just the .brn files. This will not work with the circle cab
Make your own
So to make your own screen;
1. Find or create the background image in 480 x 640 size BMP.
2. Find or create your bacsic 9 icons for the actions you want
Place these icons inside the overlay mesh attached
This mesh defines where the overlay icons will pop up
3. Put on your labels under each icon, below the openings in the mesh
4. Save the image (without the mesh) as AS_Bkgd_1.bmp
You now have the opening picture.
5. modify each icon so that you can see it is selected
6. make a copy of each icon in the exact space in the mesh and save each as with
the proper name;
Mail_focus.bmp SMS_focus.bmp MMS_focus.bmp
Appointment_focus.bmp Task_focus.bmp Note_focus.bmp
Contact_focus.bmp WiFi_focus.bmp BT_focus.bmp
7. modify each icon again for the Pressed icon and make a copy of each as above, but
this time with the _Press.bmp ending, like Mail_Press.bmp
Now you should have everything needed, so go and get yourself an bmp to brn converter, I have attached one.
and convert all your bmp's to brn, then copy all your brn files to your device, either to the \windows\actionscreen folder or where-ever the app is installed, (in ROMeOS it is directly in \windows.

What are the values for a new outlook email? I've tried a lot of variations of this app and I have a Fuze and the variations I have all lead to the same thing - it will go into my inbox but not trigger a new blank email. I do have shortcuts to create a new outlook email but no registry tweaking for the HTC Action Screen has worked for me yet. Thanks

Thanks for trying but for some reason it doesn't work with activesync accounts. I've had this problem in the past with all of the Action Screens. If I replace hotmail with Activesync the result is literally nothing...you hit the button and nothing happens. All of the other buttons work and if I create a shortcut to open a new email with "ActiveSync" as the parameter and it works... I'm not sure what causes this but I presume it's true for everyone with an ActiveSync account/ I've had the same issue on my Tilt and my Fuze.

Not active sync. Replace it with the account name. "Outlook" "Yahoo" "Gmail" whatever
Active sync is not an email account and therefor not recognized as such. You have to tell the account picker which account to send the email from. Otherwise it has too many choices
Change the screen
Change the button to read whatever you want. I changed mine to "Right Now"

Not sure you inderstand what I am saying. Tell it which email to open.

or -service "gmail" -to""
Active sync is not an email account. and "body" and "to" does not tell the account picker which email to open. Which account should open? Tell it.

That string I provided was a string I've used in the past that has worked as a shortcut to open a new blank email. For some reason in the HTC Action Screen I can't get to a new blank email. Thanks for the help.

Outlook is an account picker as well. Name it after the account. Like Gmail. Outlook is a general account organizer -you need to be specific about the account you want opened.

working on it. I will figure it out pronto and post it here. i think i tried every possibility. Even tried to switch the path to poutlook.exe
I have it working with my hotmail. No luck opening to outlook. It will only open to the inbox. Maybe I will try some more possibilities tomorrow. It vexes me. Grrrrrrr.

and posted a new circle type theme on Post 1. A lot of messing around to reg edit correct for the circle theme
i tried to install circle cab and nothing happened any ideas?

Is there any app or way to change the soft keys for each touchflo 3d tab? Like under the people tab thare is the "all people" on the left and the "menu" on the right. I would like to change the all people from going to contacts to going to pocketcm. Is there any way of going about this? Changing some other soft keys would be nice as well.

Thanks, already tried that one, only lets you change the right and left soft keys on the home tflo3d tab. I want to change the soft keys on any of the other tflo3d tabs like people, or messages, and programs. Any one else with any ideas?

No they used the word "each" before the word tab so they phrased the question correctly. "each tabs" or "each tab?"
But yeah, I am looking for the same thing. I will post it here if I find it. If not... Off to the reg we go!
It has to be doable because people mod the reply button all the time. If you can mod that then you shoudl be able to mod anything, right? Possibly a hex editor for exe files? I hope so bad its not hard coded but you never know.....
soft buttons on tf3d home
I'm also looking for something like this. With touchflo3d turn off, the home screen left soft button will be "calendar" by default, but when you have a reminder/notification, it switches to "notification" "reminder", etc.
when touchflo3d is enabled on the home screen, this button becomes controled by tf3d, and while you can customize the button, it no longer becomes context sensitive - I find we have to hit the icons at the top bar (live msg, reminder, etc). these little icons are a bit hard to hit. ANyone know if the tf3d homepage soft button can become a 'notification' popup activation button?

Just a quick update
I switched to a new rom last night from 'aruppenthal', 'RRE HTC Fuze ROM Ver 4.5 Special Edition" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467592), and it seems that this has a different behavior from my previous rom "PROven_ROM_WWE".
in any case, my tf3d home page now has "calender" and "contacts" as the lower soft buttons, and my reminders are coming up and seem to be changing the lowerleft softkey to "dismiss". I've yet to see "notification", but i'll keep an eye on it for a few days and let you guys know about the behavior.
one thing I left enabled this time, was the "system status" window when you hit the topbar icons - this has a shortcut to a mail icon when there's a notification for that, and when hitting it, it shows the respective notification popup at the lower part of the window. That might be a 'workaround' for those who preferred the old notifications but want to keep tf3d.

Well, the solution is actually SSMaHo! Just do a search for it. Works like a charm and lets you remap pretty much anything
I also have same issue with X1.
Att the Settings Tab, I really want to change left soft-ket to launch the System Setting but default is CommManager.
I already searched the forum and google with no luck. So I tried to looking into source code and just found something.
It is correct or not, however "settings.mode9" file have embedded LUA codes and these codes contains some soft-key assignment codes.
BTW, codes have not only one assignment code, it contains several assignments and TF3D can apply each soft-key by situation(or any registry? macro? configuration?) I think.

Hi guys, i was pm Captain_Throwback about this and here his answer.
You can only remap the soft keys in the Manila Home tab. Changing the others requires Manila editing, and may not even be possible. Here are the registry keys for the Manila Home tab soft keys:

I made an application on VB.net that can assign Home Softkeys to any program in Start Menu, also you can assign it to any other touchflo's tab...
This application is tested on Raphael device with Touchflo 3D 2.0

Works perfect! I'm using gangsters 6.5 windows mobile rom, desperately trying find a solution and no one elses worked! Can't believe your post has been sat here all this time, the amount of people that should know about it is ridiculous!!! Made changing the soft key assignments in touchflow 2 (3d) real easy.
So glad to have the 'phone' LSK to TomTom and the 'camera' RSK to PSShutXP!

Anyone notice the Hero keyboard doesnt have a £. Or is there some sort of key combination that brings it up?
I can get to it my going to numbers and then selecting the 2nd page - it appears where the "E"/"3" key would. Don't know if there's a faster way
Press the 12# key which is like acts like a shift key, and on the lhs is a 1/2 key, this brings up a second page - bit of a pain really, it would be better if it remapped for UK.
There is a setting 'Select locale' - 'Select language and region' but it only offer 3 languages and no region ???

edit the sync groups so that it doesn't sync all contacts, but just my contacts.
