I'd like to change my model number displayed from X10i to X10a for future firmware updates through SEUS. I installed a custom theme package onto my Branded (x10a) firmware, and it changed the model number to x10i.
As I understand, you can modify the /system/build.prop file, but I seem to remember seeing a specific "ro.product.name=" and/or "ro.build.fingerprint=" values that apply to the x10a. I've looked, but was unable to find the information.
Can anyone please direct me to this information? Thanks.
bump.
Anyone?

I debranded, then rooted my X10a (Rogers), installing X10i firmware R24. When I checked for software update from the phone, not through SEUS, I was able to update to R26.
Why was I able to do this? I was under the impression that rooted phones running a different firmware from the model (X10i on X10a phone) could not receive updates at all.
Rooting doesn't prevent you from getting updates.

You are able to upgrade because the phone is recognized as a X10i and it gets X10i firmware through update servers. It's all in .prop files in /system/ directory on phone.
If you change your firmware values you will receive other updates. But take care when editing, because if you edit the wrong line your phone needs a full reflash

I am looking to change my x10 rogers to x10i, let me know the procedure. Thanks.
Thanks for the replies! Does this mean that when Spain/Japan/etc. get their 2.1 updates that I will be able to get it OTA?
CMXD, I used this simple method for rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740240
For debranding and X10i conversion, I went with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717949
Note that I debranded and converted to X10i before rooting.
Wanted to ask,
I have 2.1, using nordic build.prop method, and now the 2.1 generic UK update has been released so is it possible to replace the nordic build.prop with a generic 1.6/2.1 build.prop so it updates my phone to the UK's firmware,
any help will be appreciated
No replies?
can I just upload a UK generic 2.1 build.prop and re-update my phone?
I already try to restore my original 1.6 build.prop for have the 2.1 FR firmware, but it doesn't work : after restore, the build.prop is the same as 2.1 Nordic
sorry for my bad english, i'm french
I see, so it must be the same update then (meaning nothing different in nordic than uk) thanks for the reply
Yeah, because if you check in the build.prop, it's the same "version fs" : World 1-8 but not the same product name : E10i_1236-9436 for my 1.6 ROM and E10i_1238-0549 for 2.1
It's strange
Yeah I too Wanted To Do The Same As I Have Flashed Using Binary's Guide Nordic Firmware But now Firmware 2.1 is officially Released in My Local ( India ) What To Do Guys ?

First, you should check your old 1.6 and new 2.1 build.prop and compare the ro.semc.version.fs value (for me it's world-1-8)
If it's not the same, then replace your actual (2.1 nordic) build.prop by your 1.6 india. Then restore with SEUS
Hopefully this will help you

In my case, both says WORLD-1-2-5, I have upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 using a Brasilian build.prop, now in Argentina 2.1 has been released, last night I tried to change the firmware using the OLD build.prop and it doesn't work. So I GUESS i need a updated argentinian's 2.1 build prop... again I GUESS.
What you guys can try is -
Restore your original 1.6 build.prop, (Or just change product.name, all three instances) save it and shutdown the phone (remember do not switch it on, you will stuck on SE logo forever)
Go to Sony ericsson>update service>db>some_number>blob_fs folder and delete all the files (or cut-paste them somewhere else)
Connect your phone to update service and force repair.. You will hopefully get back to your original version.
I restored my phone to original version through this method... Hopefully it will work for you too..
i have tryed many numbers in build.prop , but i could get no update on this new firmware ... is there annyone who can post the number or build.prop without branding to do some update? thanks in advance

I donĀ“t think there is an update to German mobiles. At least I am not getting one, and I have an unbranded German ROM.
i dont know about the build prop but you try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894918
worked for me
Using a Nordic build.prop and sticking with it is the way to get updated as soon as an update rolls out I think (given that the Nordic fw works for you).

Hi, the updating procedure isn't just based on the build.prop.
When you connect your phone to the PC, you will notice an .xml file in the root of your SD Card - THIS is what PC Companion, OTA and SEUS Read and decides weather you need an update.
It is created each time you boot your device and consists of parts from build.prop and another file: "/system/etc/default-capability.xml"
My advice:
Edit your build.prop and look for the line starting: "ro.semc.version.fs=" and make sure it says "ro.semc.version.fs=WORLD-1-8" (without the quotes). UPDATE: You may need to do more as there are other factor too apparently, read this thread and download the DISABLE file for your device/firmware: Enable JIT
Follow this guide: [GUIDE to softlock] but change the version to 2.0.A.0.504.
Combined, this should, in theory, allow you to update to a generic 2.0.A.0.24.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
My X10 e Vodafone branded, I replaced the firmware to ARO GENERIC in order to get GB.
But now my phone needs to go to service.
How do I do to get vodafone's firmware again so I have warranty??
Is there any way to change something to seus install original rom??
Thank's
You need to get root, edit build.prop file and change CDA to Vodafone.
You can find right CDA here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711
After change you will flash it through SEUS.
Thanks you very much.
I hope it works.
Hello,
I'm root the phone through generic .058 and updated to .062 that is again generic. I'm looking for the greek stock firmware or a way to change the region to greek, in order to take greek updates and/or have a way to fully restore the phone to the initial state. I can't find something, but only the generic .058 firmware. Is there is any list with the variants of the LWW Wt19i? Thanks in advance.

Use root explorer and edit /system/build.prop to match your SI
With Greek (at least) firmware you can send sms with 160 characters, with world not. I've tried to change si but the option was not there
i posted that info in this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1651072&p=#2
