Hey folks. Just need some opinions or hopefully some knowledge that will lead to a solution.
I do NOT want my phone to sync time on the network. I have always set my phone 6 minutes ahead of the clock where I work. (For a myriad of reasons.)
I have disabled network time and such. I did this with my phone when I first got it and it worked just fine.
Recently wiped the phone, cache, etc to get 2.2 on there. Was the deodex version that adrynalyne put out at the following link. (Although I think that the post has been edited since then...)

I used Odin to flash EB01, got the RED Clockwork update, cleared cache (several times), updated the ROM image from the SD card, etc. Everything works pretty well now I suppose. Seems faster in many ways but more importantly, performs more consistently.
No other mods like Voodoo, etc...
But I CAN NOT get the clock to stay at the time that I set it to. It seems to drop 11 minutes back and that causes problems for me. (Was late to work one morning because of it.)
I can't pinpoint WHY it's doing this. I can't figure exactly what time of day it's happening. But I check it every night and it is 100% guaranteed that the time changes back. It's not even in sync with the network time. I have turned on the network time and it jumps forward a few minutes. I then turn it off again and set the time 6 minutes forward where I need it.
Getting a little aggro about this. I have a few basic alarm programs installed, etc. But none of these screwed with the time on 2.1. Not much of my software load has changed. I have recently started using "SystemPanel" for managing my phone. (Which does an excellent job from what I can tell...)
Any idea why my time keeps changing back, folks? I really haven't been successful in finding any answers.

Hello!
I have an XDA, and lately it has started crashing every single morning, but only in the mornings. I use it throughout every day and never have any problems except between 9am to 12. It never crashes during the night, always wakes me in the morning, always works on the way to my job, but it first crashes at some time between 9am and 10.30, when I turn it on it immediately shows the boot screen. It must be crashing before 10.30 because I have a system alarm set for 10.30 and I never hear it (I'm just using the standard PPC alarm program with the standard alarm sound). I used to always hear my 10.30 alarm, but a few weeks ago it has crashed every day. Then, it usually crashes at least once more time between 10.30 and 12. (I don't have any alarms set to occur during that time).
The obvious question is - have I installed any new software lately? - and the answer - unfortunately not, no new software, I wish I had because that would be a simple solution! Also I don't leave programs running in the background. I finally decided to upgrade to WM2003 since I heard it was more stable, but after doing that I still have the same exact problem!
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi,
When u say crash, what do you mean?
At one stage, all of a sudden, my xda decided to lock up. Even on soft reboot, it would take forever to boot, and flash the backlight on and off intermittently. I noticed that it would not pick up the radio version number etc, on the boot screen.
The only thing i could do was to hard boot it. I did this several times, each time the problem came back after some time. On the third time, it was cured?!
So up until today, I've had not one single issue with my flyer. It's been super speedy and very responsive. I left it last night on the charger uploading a video to YouTube. (WiFi only BTW.) When I woke up the upload was done and the battery was charged. But everything seemed super slugish. Just flipping between home screens was painfully slow. I restarted the tablet and was shocked to see the device hang on both shutdown and reboot. For much longer than normal. I've never seen it this slow. I went in and killed some un necessary services and processes ... No change. I restarted the tablet again and if seemed slightly faster. But not like before still. I haven't tried rooting I'm still 100% stock. Could it be a virus? If so does a factory reset take care of that. Is rather not have to do that but I'm willing If its sure to solve my issues. Any other ideas from anyone? My recent installs include Google+, VidTrim, xda, and soundcloud.
I'll post back here if things change or I find the culprit. In the meantime has anyone else run into similar slowdowns?
P.s. I was wondering if it was an HTC sense issue. It crashed on me once before rebooting the first time and seemed to take forever to load after powering on ... All the animations were laggy and the clock was off by about an hr..... Frustrating. I really like this device.
Hi,
I get a major slowdown on my Flyer when connecting to 'free' public wifi sites. These are sites that provide free wifi after you have signed in via a web page where you enter a username/password or checked a box to accept some terms and conditions etc.
The wifi at my home or via my HTC Desire hotspot is fine as are all other wifi hotspots where I connect directly using the name and credentials stored in my Flyer. It's only these ones that require the additional login that give me trouble.
When it hits, the Flyer becomes unusable for anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. Hitting the home button generally shows a blank screen that gradually (and I mean g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y) redraws. A message stating that HTC Sense has stopped appears and you have the option to restart sense, wait or tell HTC. None of these help as the message box just disappears and then reappears about 30s later. In all cases I've noticed that the sync icon is showing in the notification bar.
It's a real annoyance, but I can mitigate it if I login to the sites before the sync starts. Unfortunately if I accidentally wander into range of one of these sites, and the Flyer finds it and decides it's time to sync then it stops again and I have to very patiently wait for the screen to respond, pull down the notifications, switch to the config settings and switch off wifi. There is still a delay until the sync realises that the wifi is no longer available.
As I said above I also have a HTC Desire that connects to these networks with no problem. This is not running sense however as I needed more application space so instead it's running gingervillain 2.7 (android 2.3.4) and has no problems with the connection.
So I suspect Sense and some synching operation its running. Will do some more investigation tomorrow as more users come online at work.
Cheers.
Haven't heard of any Android viruses that slow down the system like you are talking about, only malware that is disguised as an app. So if you haven't installed anything recently, I would say not any type of malware.
Factory reset may help. But of course, that means starting from scratch re-installing all your apps, setting up your home screens, etc.
I'm attributing it to the fact that the thing had been up and running for like a week. After a restart it seemed to have cleared up. Note to self .. power down and reboot every few days.
I had something very similar...
I installed "a bunch of stuff", then went traveling (across Europe), and tried to use the gps as I went. The flyer slowed to a crawl and became very temperamental. It felt like something was hogging the processor. Several reboots did not fix the problem.
Even sometimes the unlock screen could not get enough processor cycles to complete the unlock.
I started uninstalling the various apps I had installed, and eventually normal service was restored (and has continued fine).
Unfortunately, I was not rigorous about the uninstalling sequence, so I can't be sure what caused it.
My suspicion is that it was an Engine I installed for Text-to-speech settings. But it is only a suspicion. Like I said I installed a bunch of stuff (stupid really).
If someone can point me to an installation history howto, I'll try to be more precise.
Anyone else having this happen? If I reboot, as soon as my phone comes up the GPS is going and continues to go for like 7-10 minutes before finally going away.
No clue what's causing it but it's rather annoying.
I would guess it is normal for Google and other services on your phone to collect data on your location for things like weather and traffic and stuff like that right after a boot but 7-10 minutes is a rather long time. Is the gps signal locked during that time or flashing like it is trying to obtain a signal?
If you run your task manager you should be able to see what apps are running and that may give an indication of which is trying to get your location for so long.
Update: Just started happening again and this time the phone wasn't rebooted. I'm almost convinced it's an app. And no it doesn't fully lock on, but it tries to the entire time. I'll play around with it some more, but I have a feeling it's one of the many apps I installed today.
It's Beautiful Widgets causing the problem. Also sometimes the time isn't updated properly. Not sure if BW is having an issue with this phone, or ICS, or maybe just MY specific configuration.
Any other good Clock/weather widgets out there?
Hey there.
I'm having some GPS problems with my Galaxy SII running Resurrection Remix rom.
It can hardly find any satellites. Most of the time it takes around 1 full minute to get 0/1 and after 2-5 minutes I have 0/2. After that, nothing else happens. I have tried installing the aGPS fix as found in here, but this doesn't help either.
What else can I do?
Thanks already!
Get GPS Status if you don't already have it. Then make sure you're outside in a clear area that has good line of sight in all directions. Also make sure you have data connectivity.
Turn data on, fire up GPS Status & go into tools/manage a-GPS state & press reset to clear cached GPS data. Then press download to get fresh data/ephemerides. Then stand there for as long as it takes until you can get a good fix/the phone 'learns' where the satellites are (can take up to 10 minutes in extreme cases).
Once you've done this, you should get a fix fairly quickly for at least a few days (and probably longer), tho once you get over a week or so, it will start to take progressively longer to get a fix as the ephemeris data ages. Simply repeat whenever the time it takes to get a fix becomes intolerable.
I've done this whenever getting a fix has taken ages, and after getting a fix even indoors has always been fast.
Edit - If this doesn't work, it's probably something funky on the rom/kernel side. I'd do a completely clean install of the rom/kernel, and if it was still not playing dice then a completely clean install of stock to possibly rule in/out a hardware issue.
I lurked and this reminded me of the fix.
To make it even clearer,
what this is doing is resetting
/etc/gpsd.conf
but not touching:
/etc/sirfgps.conf
Both are included with the ROM as far as I know.
For testing it can be useful to have Droid VNCServer. Android Screen Monitor with adb enabled over WiFi is a security risk because afaik

There's a megathread somewhere with all the different things involved with GPS. I think I may have even written a summary somewhere myself but can't seem to find it.
update, ok it's here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37501364#post37501364
I am running up-to-date stock fw on my Droid Inc 4G LTE. I was out of the USA for a week and didn't bother getting a SIM for the country I was in so I just worked off WiFi the whole time with mobile network disabled. At some point, I was playing around with settings and found the high power setting that improves reception at the expense of battery life. I enabled it and worked with it for a few days without issue, it actually worked pretty nicely. I did notice a couple of reboots happen but it didn't seem associated with that setting (yet).
On my way back I was at the airport, and I started off with the setting disabled but couldn't get good signal, so I enabled it. I then looked at the list of detected networks and was about to select one to connect to, when suddenly my phone rebooted. Great, I thought, now I have to wait for this to boot. Except, once it hit the "droid eye" screen where it's loading the OS, it rebooted again. Then it basically kept doing that ad infinitum.
I booted into rescue mode (Vol Down + Pwr) and the only options I really had were to try booting again (still looping) or to reflash stock firmware, which was an awful thing to have to do at an airport with no recent backup, but I did it. It worked fine after that, but I lost all my text messages, app settings, a bunch of downloaded podcasts and audiobooks, had to spend an hour or so reinstalling every app and another hour setting everything up again. Not cool.
But yeah, pretty sure this was related to the high power wifi setting (perhaps in conjunction with having mobile network disabled). I can't really substantiate that with much evidence and don't have the time to try to reproduce it, but I'm just throwing this out there as a report.
