I tried downloading a few LED flashlight apps. most just dont work, i only found "LED Flashlight" to work, but its not bright at all and nearly worthless. The LED flashlight apps i had on my nexus one and g2 were incredibly bright.
anyone know of any that work well?
have you tried droidlight? thats what i use and it works fine
Moto Torch also works well, and even has a widget for ease of use.
Download widgetzoid....it's flashlight widget is great

Your knowledge is wrong. I use it every day. You have to go into the settings and change the LED Method to "Moto Droid Froyo" and it works fine. TYL.
I really like Search Light. I found it to be much brighter than most of the others I tried on my D2G. FYI I then put a shortcut to it on one of my Extended Controls widgets.

Yeah it works. Im just disappointed in how dim the dual LEDs are on this phone. My nexus one and g2 had single LEDs and were blindingly bright. I was expecting more.

I used to have a Galaxy S on t-mobile and loved it. Recently picked up the razr and the one thing that is really annoying is that the notification bar "swipe down menu" from the top of the screen has no buttons to turn gps on/off, etc.
Is there any way to get these buttons on here?
No idea why in the hell they would omit that feature....

It's actually a TouchWiz (Samsung's Android skin) feature that Cyanogenmod incorporated. Bottom line: not stock Android, and not on Motorola's skin.
cm? Cyanogyn mod?
Now that i think of it i did have a custom rom flashed on there but i know it wasnt cyanogyn, it was one of the stock ones with voodoo on it so it would run faster.

Galaxy S has the options in the pulldown by default; most ROMs will incorporate it, though, since it's a nice feature. It's not something in stock Android, though.
Best thing for now is the power control widget till our phones can get bootloader unlocked and development for roms can begin. I too had that previous. I just use thd widget for now
Available in the Market as always for example via Widgetsoid.

Widgetsoid seems like a great app with a lot of potential and nice customization features, but on the Razr you can't toggle directly from the notification bar with it. Instead clicking on the toggle icon will popup another window to toggle the setting on or off. That and I haven't been able to change the colors of the toggles in the dropdown so that it's readable.
Notification toggle is the closest I've found. Each toggle takes up a line but you can actually turn the item on or off straight from the dropdown.

Hey guys,
I've searched XDA/google and tinkered with my S3 but cannot change the indicator lights colors. They default to blue for notifications. I remember being able to change the colors on my HTC G1 and was wondering if anyone knew how to do this on the Galaxy 3?
Thank you.
Theres an app for that
Check out lightflow (though there are still some bugs that need to be worked out for the SGS3)

You know whats funny, There a thread for that too.... lol LIghtflow issues http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/1931
Doesn't matter, this phone has issues with notification lights anyway.
So I know that the devs are hard at work on getting us all kinds of CM, AOSP, and/or AOKP goodness, but I thought maybe if any of the devs are looking for some features to add it might be nice to have a thread they can refer to with everyones "wants" once the "needs" are met.
I'll start it off with a request to add support for BLN (back light notification) to an upcoming kernel. This, combined with the option to put the navigation bar on while dissabling the HW keys would be a great feature IMHO. Not to mention our stock notification LED pretty much sucks a big one.
ROM feature requests
Flashlight in notification drawer quick settings
More options in the shutdown menu (Boot to recovery, etc)
Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
Allow dialer rotation
The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
True music controls on the lock screen
Better control of status bar icons (center clock, hide icons, change colors of icons, etc)
The ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume
Volume rocker music controls
Universal Qslide
Kernel feature requests
BLN
Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock (I think this is a kernel issue, if not let me know and I'll put it with the ROM stuff)
I didn't see a similar thread on here, so if there is, kindly point me to it and a mod can delete this one. And if BLN support already exists in Sk8's kernel tell me that too, ha ha.
I haven't looked into the ROMs because I'm liking stock, but a request I do have for when I do decide to flash is to have a flashlight if it hasn't been incorporated into the ROMs out now. There's a lot of times where I need to look for something and don't feel like turning on my light switch. Would be a nice thing to be implemented if it hasn't been done and can be done.

I don't know if this is what you have in mind, but I use TeslaLED: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature.. It has a widget you can add to the homescreen for a quick on off, as well as some other features. I actually have it as one of my lock screen apps. I wish there was a way to have it turn on when opened from the lockscreen, but it's only one extra tap.
Edit: Gah! John beat me to one.
PS: TeslaLED is only 512K, whereas Tiny Flashlight is anything but at 1.5M

My wishlist:
1. Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
2. Allow dialer rotation
3. Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock.
The two features I really want to see are:
- The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
- true music controls on the lock screen instead of using the notification controls
sent from my LGOG
My biggest things are center clock, ability to hide things on status bar, and a flashlight toggle. The Base has done pretty well but I would love a flashlight toggle in my quick settings in my notification drawer. The swipe for flashlight thing was so touchy that I disable it.
Also, I love the theme chooser app and ability to have easy themes for my ROMs like in CM10 and AOKP
EDIT: also the ability to boot straight into download and recovery mode like in certain other ROMs using the power button.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
The Base ROM does have a flashlight built in, you can activate it in the notification drawer options.
I was using Tesla until I found this.
Though I do wish it was in the Quick Settings too.
I would also love native reboot options.
And lastly, I would love the ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume.
I know. The swipe thing only works half the time and half of that half, I end up with The Base force closes

I had actually forgot about this feature. I just tried it again and sometimes it takes three or four swipes to turn on. Might be user error though.
Swipe for torch works perfect for me.
Reboot options would be nice.
Volume Button Music controls would be nicer.
I actually came up with a wish while looking at the android dev section.
It doesn't actually have to do with the rom itself, but I'm hoping that as things become further developed to not only have a Changelog but to have a what's working list/what's not working list or just the latter.
I see a lot of threads gets bogged down with DOES THIS WORK? IS THIS INCLUDED?
Granted there's a group of people out there that don't read and just flash, but it could be helpful for another group of people that compare and contrast roms (like myself) before flashing.
Anyone else agree?

That makes sense to me. I wonder if xda could get a ROM form together so all the devs can include all the same info in their ROM's thread's OP. I don't know how practical that would be, but it would be nice to have some standardization.

But from what I've seen, most ROM posts actually follow a pretty basic design.

Thanks for the reply, I've actually used this app before I didn't really like it. I was wondering if maybe there was a setting in the note 4 to change it? When I had a balckberry bold ages ago my favorite part was the light because you could change it to whatever you wanted. Thanks anyway though!

LightFlow used to be a great deal for me without root. If you are rooted, a better battery-friend option is Gravitybox (Xposed Module). Its paid version supports setting custom notifications for every app (LED only or vibration and ringer too).
Light Manager is my personal favorite with some in depth options
Is there anything we can use that would add to the native Ambient/Always-On Display a coloured blinking dot similar to the LED notification lights that previous devices had?

There's an app called notify buddy that you can try

Having a notification like that on the AOD would most likely have to be baked into a custom ROM but it's a cool idea.

Yeah I was hoping more for something capable of hooking into Ambient Display itself. The description for this app explicitly says the first thing you do is "Disable Ambient Display and any battery optimisation for the app."
I wonder if something like a Magisk module could do this.

Try AOE from the play store. I have it set so the AOD only comes on when a notification comes in. I have the edge lighting set to the colour back as I use a black wallpaper for my lock screen. Or you can play with the coloured edge. Up to you.
Interesting, yes it looks like AOE can draw over Ambient Display. Requires a crap ton of permissions but it works!
I can't seem to get AOE to work on my phone, I have Android 11 installed any help please?

It's not a very intuitive app. But basically you have to walk through all the app menus and let it ask for all the different permissions it needs, before it will actually work on Ambient Display.
It's sad to admit but i don't get it. I activated all the permissions but only get the standard AOD.
Could anyone export his settings? That would be awesome...

Thank you! That guide worked perfect. Any clue of the battery usage difference between ambient display vs this?
No, I have no clue. I've never used the "classic" ambient display. Battery in general is very good, but I'm not a power user. Usually the battery of my smartphones last about 1.5 to 2 days.
I'll currently monitoring the battery life of the Pixel. With my user profile it will last at least 1.5 days.
i try do get the ambient Display only to show up when notification arrives or Phone is charging.
have been playing around with Always on Edge app but it seems i can't get the settings right. the app realy isnt intuitive.

Always show time and info on.
