I have uploaded some wallpapers to my phone and for some reason it doesn't really take advantage of the high res screen when i set them as wallpapers. I downloaded this app called HD Wallpapers in the Market and every single wallpaper they have available come out very clear and crisp on the Atrix screen. Download it and see for yourself!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.srsdev.wallpapers&feature=search_result
FYI The wallpaper size on the Atrix is 1080x960 which is slightly different than other android phones. If you take a slightly larger image, and resize it in photoshop - you can get it to display as a wall without cropping/distortion.
I'm getting a ton of random FC's from that app
"Wallpaper Set & Save" does an excellent job of setting wallpapers without making them look resized and crappy. I used it on my Captivate, didn't expect it to work on the Atrix yet...but it works perfectly.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/wallpaper-set-and-save/com.android.wallpapersetandsave
It works with all image files, but I've noticed PNG files look the best.
Tried Wallpaper set & save, but found the pics to be even more pixelated than using stock wallpaper setup. On top of that, it does not scan my sd card, only the internal phone storage (although it mistakenly calls it sdcard).
I haven't tried HD wallpaper, but I tend to use my own wallpapers so that won't really help
Runs like a charm

Same, FC's every time, very disappointing oh well, Flickie HD will have to do!! Rooted and de-odexed Atrix.

Same here. I still use it from time to time. I like their selection.
One of the best ways to get HD wallpapers is with AndWobble. Even if you don't use it for its intended entertaining purpose, you can use it to set images as wallpapers, and it does it without cropping/pixelating.
They just updated this app. So much better now.

When switch my nook it landscape mode on the home screen (by turning it horizontal) and then moving it back to portrait mode, my wall paper seems to zoom in. Im wondering if its just a go launcher thing or i messed something up somewhere along the line.
Can someone test for me? Im using the standard built in nook wallpapers.

Have you rooted and installed gapps on your device? I noticed immediately after rebooting that the wallpaper was being stretched, even before installing go launcher. I dunno what is up.
I have a wallpaper i downloaded, and i don't appear to have this issue.

Yes i have. I even did a system restore to see if that fixed it, and it did not. Right now i just disabled auto rotate on the home screen and set the background to vertical mode (in the luncher settings).
This is the onlyway i can make it so itdoesnt zoom in.

Is it a Hd wallpaper like the ones that came with the nook tablet? Do u mind setting your background to one ofthe default wallpapers and testing?

Ive noticed that the NT's default pictures app does a pretty terrible job with wallpaper cropping. I have much more success when i set wallpapers directly from dolphin browser. The 1024x600 resolution also doesnt seem suited to alot of the wallpaper apps either. Ive had more success downloading 1024x1024 wallpapers from sites that tailor to the iPad.
Sent from my Nook Tablet
The standard Go wallpapers (like the vertical rainbow), seem to work fine for me. I too, have found images set directly from Dolphin seem too look the best though.
*edit* Just recreated what you're describing. Does it with nook wallpapers, but everything seems to work fine for me.

These are the dimensions I found to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19647527#post19647527
And I too, am seeing the zooming effect using 3 different launchers.
Had the same problem with custom wallpapers, Wallpaper Wizardrii (from market) seems to be able to properly size the wallpapers so there's no strange zooming. Use the 'stretch' option on a wallpaper that's larger than the vertical dimension (1024).
cheers
Hi All,
I apologize, I know this has been covered before, but I am confused and having some issues applying my own photos for wallpapers on CM9. I used to use the HP wallpaper applier when I used CM7, but it keeps crashing with CM9.
Anyway, I have high res raw photos that I can resize to whatever I choose. I used to use 1536x1024, but now it still crops/zooms/blurs it when I apply the wallpaper. I've used the stock one, ES and quickpic. I have also tried other resolutions, but it still crops/blurs my images.
Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to get the HP wallpaper app to work on CM9?
Also should mention I'm running 120 dpi, if that makes a difference.
Try using OI File Manager in conjunction with the HP Touchpad Applier.

I would, but the HP wallpaper app keeps crashing upon opening.

I'm currently on CN. I will flash to CM9 and see if I can figure it out for you. Give me about half an hour so I can backup, flash, etc.
What version of CM9 are you on?
Sent from my MIUI Evo 3D
Ok, I flashed over to CM9 Alpha 2. I can finish that HP Touchpad Wallpaper Applier force closes. I installed OI File Manager then retried the HP Touchpad Wallpaper Applier and it worked perfectly. I tested it with multiple wallpapers with no negative effects.
I recorded a video of it if your interested.
My suggestion is try uninstalling the wallpaper app, re install, install OI File Manager and it should work. Worst case scenario is having to do a fresh install of CM9.
Sent from my MIUI Evo 3D
Yes if you install the applier and the oi file manager the app works pretty dang great, no crashes or issues, if you need wallpapers (which need to be at or above 1536*1024) you can get them in my thread in my signiture
Thanks guys. I installed oi file manager and it the app works now! Except, it still crops my photos and zooms in a bit. Nothing terrible, but it still does it.

The reason it appears to be cropping is because the Touchpad is originally 1024x768. The app requires a higher resolution to account for the scrolling wallpaper effect. If you have multiple screens, take a look to get an idea if what I mean.

I personally use multipicture live wallpaper and it pretty fantastic..yes it has a bit of cropping (but not much) but i think all of them do. I recommend it because you can have it switch wallpapers at set intervals or by simply double tapping any blank area of the screen to get a new image. I downloaded a bunch of images from some of the various wallpaper threads and I found a bunch of ipad wallpapers from flicker. Very pleased with this app check it out...
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
also there is a paid version
Thanks guys. I'm ok with the cropping, just thought I remember it not cropping but taking the full image with CM7.
for the life of me i cant figure out how to add wallpaper to my nook tablet. it either stretches it or cuts it off. I'm sure its something I'm just overlooking but it's driving me crazy. thanks for the help..
Are you using the correct sized wallpaper? I don't recall the actual size but it's listed in Themes and Apps thread.

If you mean you don't want your pictures cropped like the stock gallery makes you do, I recommend checking out an app called QuickPic from the Android Market. The app is free and it lets you have better control of how much of the wallpaper picture you want to show.
I was looking for correct wallpaper sizes and stumbled across this site. Nice selection. And free.

I've been using the PicSpeed wallpaper app to both download and apply HD wallpapers. They have a pretty good selection of papers and using the app to apply the wallpaper changes seems to result, to me at least, to be much better resolution and cropping.
Hi all...
I bought one of those touchpads for $99 and finally got around to loading CM9. Very happy with it but having problems with wallpapers. TP resolution supposed to be 1024 x 768, but wallpapers that size are way too large. If I understand it properly, it may have to do with different dpi for WebOS vs Android. Any tips please?
Thanks in advance.
there's no option to apply wallpaper without cropping so I use picseed from the play store to apply wallpapers and it works well for me...hope that helps.

Thanks, will try.
Two options for setting wallpapers without having it zoom in are multipicture live wallpaper and I believe wallpaper wizdrini(I may have misspelled that, lol). I've used multipicture live wallpaper and it makes the wallpapers look much better that the default app does. Haven't tried wizdrini on the touchpad yet, but it gives fine control over exactly how the wallpaper will work on my other tablets, it should work for the touchpad. If you try it, please let me know how well it works.
Wallpaper wizardrii works pretty good and has more options for cropping or not.

hi, i've been using HP Touchpad Wallpaper Applier available on Google Play. The difference of image quality was huge. I'm not sure it is compatible with every Android versions but you should take a look !

Excellent suggestion! Great walls in the app! Now to find one for ringtones.
I've used Google Wallpapers and enjoy the ones they provide. Downside is they do not update or add any new ones.
I would highly recommend Muzei. It's a live wallpaper app that changes your wallpaper at whatever interval you want from whatever source you want. It allows dimming And blur effects. Very cool, highly recommend it with Vitrina (which gets pictures from reddit).
This one is a good one, walls & ringtones.

Recently I use Backdrops or Stokie.
Does any of these app have good live wall paper for the lock screen?
