am about to buy a new phone and am confused between samsung galaxy s ii htc one s and xperia s
and what's better htc sense 4 .touchwiz 4 or sony UI(idk wut it's called)?
TBh it is about personal preferrence. Th one s so far has no reviews as its only just been announced, the sgs2 has been on the market nearly a year so you should know about that.
So far everyone who has the SXS (sony xperia s) has positive views overall about the one.
for me the most important things are
more than 16gb memory availble on the phone directly (not via cloud etc)
good battery life
good audio quality in headphones
good loud speaker
the ability to take pics when i am in a phone call or when the battery is under 15% (a thing which samsung phones do not let you do) htc and sony do though.
and the SXS meets all of these, so thats why I have ordered one and cannot wait for it to arrive.
I prefer sony's UI and HTC sense over touch wiz
it also depends on how desperate you are for a new phone i mean you could wait for the one s to come out which is about another month ad try the handsets for yourself but from reviews i have read and user experiences you can't go wrong with the SXS and plus it is quite cheap aswell.

I have heard that they need a firm press and are hard to find, but after a little time you will get use to them.

Exactly right. They are easy to find but it seems they react after you move your finger away, not as you touch them.
They are annoying at first, but they are easy to get used to.
the sony xperia s is most beautiful than SGS2 and one x。
sexiest looking phone ever, so yes!
guys who bought the phone don't you feel like it's a little thick?
and how is battery life? multitaksing and do you feel any lag while opening more than one app??
and i see that my galaxy s is 2mm wider than SXS is it hard to type in portrait mode?
P.S i got pretty thick finger

I do not have mine yet still waiting or it to be delivered but I have seen a dummy model of it in my local phones 4 u and i have spent a while comparing its size to the arc s dummy, galaxy s 2 dummy, droid razr dummy, htc sensation xe dummy and tbh the phone isnt that big for me the droid razr is horrid its very thin yes but is so tall and wide and it only has a 4.3 inch screen I mean it doesnt need to be that big for a 4.3inch screen.
the SXS just isnt that big imo and I mean no one really complains the the sensation/sensation xe is like 11+mm thick which is thicker than the 10.6mm SXS.

I have to say the touch buttons are a bit difficult to get use to. I mean not big deal but it can bother people. Sound quality using headphones good. I like beats audio. And I think beats audio has a bit more punch on mid and highs. The xperia s has plenty of bass ...camera its amazing. The one x and s comes with great cameras too. Other than that I think its a good phone

Do note that the Xperia S also has swype in the keyboard. No need to buy separately.
okay thanks guys
btw if i ordered xperia s from ebay or amazon it won't have arabic language support ??

You can read/write in Arabic but, the menu will not change the phone language to Arabic.
Well I have to say I bought the Xperia S with high hopes it would live up to my past experiences of the Sony brand and the spec list on the Xperia S, however it hasnt really.
I have found it laggy and under-whelming even in normal use and dont get me started on those bottom buttons.
Looking at the spec, I would expect it to be a hell of alot quicker and less laggy than it is. Are these things that will be fixed with an update or is this the best we can expect the device to ever be.
Camera, not that impressed. It is capable of very good shots, but doesnt deal well with light, with areas of a image being washed out due to normal light from sky.
Anyone else considering sending it back / selling it, and buying something else?
I just sold it and decided to wait for a Sony model designed for ICS or with better bottom buttons. I thought the phone had too much Bezel area and length for the screen size. I hope Xperia P buttons are more sensitive. I didn't have long enough to see any performance issues. I seem to love my Arc even more now
Sent from my LT15a using xda premium
I'm thinking of selling mine purely down to the fact ICS is now planned for a late Q2 release which I think is shocking considering this is Sony's flagship device.

My only disappointment so far is the damn yellow tint on my display, apart from that I would be happy as Larry.
Right thats it, am definitely selling mine. Anyone know what the going rate for one locked to T-Mobile is...was thinking about £330ish

I gotta be honest I'm really not sure. I also dunno if i want such a big screen. Stuck the Xperia s back in the box this morning and been using my trusty old iPhone 4 and I kinda prefer the size...but everything high spec at the moment seems to be going the 4 inches route.
I do agree btw what you said about ICS on the XS...it seems to be last in line..though I'm not really sure if it would make an improvement. You happy with yours aside from that?
Im happy with mine xperia s. Im only disappointed with built-in battery ;/
Very happy with the device, no disappointment.
I believe delaying the ICS is the correct decision, rather than rush out a flawed upgrade.
Had mine since release date I have no regrets. I like the build and NXT iface. battery I get just around 30hrs but I am not really a heavy user. Just waiting for the firmware update ICS right now is not a biggie for me. those wanting gs2 good luck to you just remember GS3 ain't that far away. Good luck to the HTC one guys personally I cannot stand sense or TW. Each to their own
XPS still is one of the most beautiful looking Android phone out there. HTC One X looks ugly to my eyes but I just pulled the trigger on it. Should have it next week. I just don't like how HTC phones have that curved edges at four corners of the screen. Decided to give it a chance till I find more details on Xperia P and the capacitive buttons.

I completely agree. This is the best gingerbread device on the market currently and one of the best smart phones currently available.
While lack of ICS for the time being is disappointing. The design, hardware and features more than makes up for that.
People are constantly praising my phone how amazing it looks and feels.
I've even had Nexus owners compliment my phone.
We also have the best screen and camera on the market currently.
You'd have to be crazy to give this phone up.

There's an easy trick to the capacitive buttons.
Instead of pressing the buttons, slide your finger over the area.
Garanteed 100% accuracy everytime.

Touch sensitive buttons never a problem for me, I don't understand how anyone can have problems with them. When I first got the phone it was a bit hit and miss but got used to where I needed to press very quickly. If you have big fingers maybe but otherwise you shouldn't have a problem.
I had the hd2 for two years prior to owning this phone, and I loved it especially as it was easy to root and there are loads of custom roms and tweaks,it was like having a new phone every week.
Xperia S took a bit of getting used to coz I liked sense, still do, but after all the changing of roms it's nice to have everything working out of the box and I wanted a decent camera and video recorder and the one on the xperia is first class.
I'm not totally happy with everything but I haven't been with any phone I've had, the perfect phone doesn't exist, and never will.
I specifically got this for the camera capabilities, any other positives where a bonus.
So overall I'm very happy, but as someone already mentioned, each to there own.

Thanks button everyone for the input. Interesting to see all the different viewpoints.
I am still selling mine, though not sure what to replace it with quite yet.
Does anyone know a reliable unlocker for the Xperia S?
Also, are we allowed to post ebay links on xda?
The phone in itself is fantastic im not denying that. What I am [email protected]&:#/ off with is the fact this device is the flagship but is getting ICS after the 2011 devices and im afraid that is inexcusable on Sony's part.

I've using Arc for about a year now and now I lost it....!!!
I'm planning on buying a Sony Xperia S but I am paranoid becuase of the screen problem which is being discussed on different forum...!!! So my question is, " Is it worth to take chance...??? Should I go for it...???"
Suggestions guys...!!!
Well it's pretty much a lottery if you get the yellow screen problem. Also, if you get the problem, you always get it repaired as its an issue recognized by Sony.
I myself don't have the problem, but if i develop it I really don't care, as it could be sent in .
It's your decision. To me, I don't care, because it could always be fixed .

I was in similar situation. Being an SE design fan, got Xperia S. I just couldn't accept it after a week of trying hard. Phone felt too long, thick, heavy, lousy capacitive buttons, gorgeous screen, bad idea to have cover for USB port, etc. Got HTC One X and love it so far. Sleek like Arc, and the build quality is way better than any SE phones I've seen.
I miss the simplicity of SE ROMs but i guess i can go customizations soon. Waiting for screen protectors to start using it regularly.

Hi there
Could you be so kind to write a bit more comparing the two phones? I am trying hard to like my xps but coming from iPhone the hardware is a big step back. My mine worries would be the screen on the one s now getting used to my xps.

While build quality of one X is better along with specs, I prefer my Arc over one X. At the same time I prefer One X over Xperia S. 4.2 to 4.3" screens are about the perfect size for me. Any bigger means stress on my thumb when pulling down the notification bar. Hope I will get used to One X screen size over time.
Unfortunately, Xperia S design has too much bezel before the screen starts at the bottom. That pushed the top edge of the screen very high making One X screen feel easier on thumb when using notification bar.
I just like Arc so much more and I might actually consider getting Arc C if ICS runs smoothly on it when it rolls out.

I didn't have problem but after using Arc, it just didn't feel right to own a thick one. SE set the trend for thin phone with Arc and when everyone is making thin phones they went back to making a thick XPS. I am not sure what features made it be so thick and soooo long. HTC One X has all features XPS has and still is as thin as Arc.
I think its just the right thickness, but i like having a firm grip of the phone. Coming from HTC Legend btw
Screen is downright amazing, and the only thing i can name as a con is a steep adjustment curve from hw buttons to capacitive buttons.
Y'all have a nice day!

Hello,
I just want to get the opinions of all xperia users who would like to take the time to answer my question.
I currently have a samsung galaxy note and i stumbled across the xperia s via the smartwatcha and smart wireless headset pro (i have this ocd-ish problem where all of my gadgets need to have one brand primarily) and i was wondering what are the community's take on the phone?
I'll primarily be using it as a secondary phone if not become primarily as soon as i get tired of lugging my big ass Galaxy Note around.
There is just something alluring about its sharp minimalistic style not to mention having a hd bravia tv in the palm of my hand.
Anyways, back to my question: what are your general opinions of the phone? Good or bad i'd like to hear them all.
Its a good phone, I love the screen and the processor seems fast enough. My gripes with it are, I am not sure about the button placement. Also I am not a fan of the usb flap cover. The light bar is awesomeness though.
It's awesome. That's all.

worth it ? yep
I came from a note as well although mine died
I love this phone, my only gripe is the lack of developers here on xda, most devs seem to goto Samsung or HTC. I actually don't know if that's a good or bad thing because Sony's UI is fantastic and so is the whole experience so rooting the phone isn't really worth it at this stage for me, whereas with the note I was flashing every other day and that wasn't necessarily a good thing.
I miss the big screen of the note but I sure don't miss the SAMOLED display and the bad placement of those capacitive buttons and also the power button. The other real bad thing I noticed when I came to the xperia was how badly the note handled itself under sunlight I could never make out what was displayed and had to use my other hand as shade which didn't improve it much and also adding to the already difficult handling. With the Sony there is zero problems under sunlight I was amazed. I've held the Sony directly in sunlight and still can see the screen at around 80% vision comparing to the notes 10% vision.
I paid 800AUD for the note in November and I just paid 420AUD for the xperia s just after they got released and personally it outperforms it in software and hardware.
Sony feels expensive in the hands yet its cheap, Samsung feels cheap yet its expensive.
Oh yeh one other thing I really hate is the flap covers for the USB I could understand if the phone lasted a week without charge but when you charge everyday its pointless and frustrating.

The Xperia S is a new phone, just give it some time and more devs will come to make roms and add-ons Most of them are just waiting for the ICS update I think
But the phone is really great Also love the fact Sony will give us 4.0.4 probably instead of 4.0.3 like most devices

It works just as any auto-adjust, it just isn't as drastic when it adjusts ( more adjusts in phases than the 'low light > omg my eyes!'). It adjusts how it should at night, and outside (even in the sun) it is the most visible and clear I have ever seen in a touchscreen phone, the clarity is really impressive.
I don't know why, but I guess since most people use the auto setting, they removed it? I dunno, but you can still disable it with a widget anyways, so it doesn't really matter

Hello there,
I am thinking of buying this phone since I really like how durable it seems to be. So I am asking you for some experiences or opinions of this device and if it's really worth buying at all.
I have SE Live with Walkman and I really like it's front camera and dual speakers (which Xperia GO lacks), however, Xperia GO has non-removable battery which seems kind of useful for clumsy situations. I also like GO's ability to shoot pictures and videos underwater, but is it damaging to use the phone in seawater? Is the screen really that tough as people say? How useful do you think the phone really is?
Thank you for your opinions!
Cheers!
Xperia go is a really good durable phone with good hardware and official jb! But if u can spend a little more u i would recommend Xperia p (not waterproof!)

Thanks, but I don't really like the looks of Xperia P. Also it's not on sale here, so I don't plan to spend a lot of money for it.
And I also got some people with positive feedback on Xperia GO and therefore I decided to get it.
I've got Xperia Go and i'm loving it. Just 1 problem, dont be overconfident about the screen, mine got 1 scratch during the first 2 weeks and didn't did anything special, better buy a cover.

Cheers!

It's old model,i suggest you to buy non-water resistant Xperia L or M.
Or wait Sony release new waterproof smartphone with 3.5"++
Bought the phone and I am gonna stay on Gingerbread for a while, unless there is a good reason to update to Jelly Bean
So far, loving the phone!
