yeah I don`t have the the led flicker problem, my doesnt like the app acts buggy

I also see this. One looks more yellow than the other aswell. I think there are two different flash settings, and the apps try to use the same setting for both, which is underpowering the brighter of the two leds. Mine after about 30 seconds of constant on will flicker on and off randomly.
Have you tried this app

below is the link to the flashlight app I use. It lets you use the LED and/or the screen and works well for me. If you haven't tried it see if that works for you, when I use it I have no issues with both LED's working at the same brightness level.

Droidlight
I installed Droidlight on two different Atrixes. On both, the light color is surprisingly yellow. One keeps the light steady, the other phone has one led that flashes. Weird.
Also seem to have a problem with the led flash for photos. The flash seems dim and photos are underexposed. Not sure if this is just the Atrix, or somehow conflicting with Droidlight (although seems a stretch).
The flashes are meant to work together so that pictures cone out better thaan with a standard single flash. That's why there are two.
When you guys use the apps to keep them on, it causes them to work improperly. Best thing to do is to allow them to work right and download a new photo program instead.

flash issues as well
no matter what flashlight app i use, even turning on the flash in the native camcorder app the following happens:
led's light up bright
led on the left (looking directly at the back of the phone) flickers then turns off.
led on the right begins to blink after about 10-15 seconds!
This is so frustrating and am beginning to believe it is a hardware issue. Anyone else have a similar issue?
Droidlight has a new update solely for "atrix bug fixes" does that solve your problems?

same thing with droidlight
I have exact same problem. What i believe it to be is that the second flash is a red-eye reducer. When you take a pic with flash red eye occurs. The second flash is meant to briefly light up, significantly reducing red eye.
Since the second flash is intended to only briefly light up during a flash picture (the only intended use) on of the bulbs will fire for a much shorter time length.
When you see one flickering, it is just trying to repeatedly "flash" as it would during a picture.
If you are able to keep both lights on through a flashlight app, you'e very lucky, but your light is probably broken.
CONFIRMED
Photography techniques for prevention and removal of red-eye
The red-eye effect can be prevented in a number of ways.
Using bounce flash in which the flash head is aimed at a nearby pale colored surface such as a ceiling or wall or at a specialist photographic reflector. This both changes the direction of the flash and ensures that only diffused flash light enters the eye.
Placing the flash away from the camera's optical axis ensures that the light from the flash hits the eye at an oblique angle. The light enters the eye in a direction away from the optical axis of the camera and is refocused by the eye lens back along the same axis. Because of this the retina will not be visible to the camera and the eyes will appear natural.
Taking pictures without flash by increasing the ambient lighting, opening the lens aperture, using a faster film or detector, or reducing the shutter speed.
using the red-eye reduction capabilities built into many modern cameras. These precede the main flash with a series of short, low-power flashes, or a continuous piercing bright light triggering the iris to contract. (This should not be confused with the autofocus assist beam, which uses a series of flashes for focus instead.)
Having the subject look away from the camera lens.
Increase the lighting in the room so that the subject's pupils are more constricted.
Some computer digital image editors have the ability to lessen the red eye by desaturating the red color.
If direct flash must be used, a good rule of thumb is to separate the flash from the lens by 1/20 of the distance of the camera to the subject. For example, if the subject is 2 metres (6 feet) away, the flash head should be at least 10 cm (4 inches) away from the lens.
Professional photographers prefer to use ambient light or indirect flash as the red-eye reduction system does not always prevent red eyes, for example if people look away during the pre-flash. In addition, people do not look natural with small pupils, and direct lighting from close to the camera lens is considered to produce unflattering photographs.
Various graphics editing software packages have functions to remove red eyes from digital photographs. Some have automated this process, and can apply it to many photos at once. Red-eye removal is also built into many popular consumer programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Apple iPhoto, Corel Photo-Paint, GIMP, Google Picasa, and Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Thanks. Just noticed this on my Atrix as well tonight. Will be going to AT&T and getting a new one tomorrow.
For anyone else who might want to test their flash:
My problem started when I would use the flashlight app.
-The left LED would flicker and go off.
-Now it doesn't turn on at all.
-The camera no longer flashes the left LED.
I have brightest flashlight free app installed and haven't had any problems. Both led's come on really bright and stay on
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I would like to update my issue with the flashlight app & LED lights on the Atrix.
I previously had a phone that started flashing the left LED whenever I used a flashlight app. After a coulpe of weeks, I noticed that the LED would not turn on at all during both camera and flashlight app uses.
I went back to Costco and exchanged for a new unit.
I came to find out that my left LED still blinks after 15-20 seconds of use. One thing I noticed is that the LED on my new Atrix is way LESS yellow than my first Atrix. (Quality control, anyone?)
People have confirmed that their Atrix has no flashing of the LEDs when using a flashlight app.
I am most likely going back AGAIN and getting a new Atrix again.
ALSO, the flashing of the LED is NOT intended for Red Eye Reduction, as someone previously pointed out. That is WRONG information. I believe it to be a hardware/software problem with some Atrix units.
Regardless of the flashlight app you use, can you keep the LEDs both at 100% for longer than 20 seconds without any blinking?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
So i see this light in front , of the phone , on the top in this video at 5.09 min
http://youtu.be/_1gfr8vu4PM?t=5m
and think i seen this in a video on Pocketnow for a short time too ?
So i know there is no Notification Light normally in the front , but
what´s we seen here ?
It's the proximity-sensor. It emits infra-red light that reflects from your cheek when having it up against your ear. This turns off the screen.
The SGS2 has no notification light. Only camera's can pick up the infra-red light, that's what you saw. In some occasions I have seen it with my bare eyes. Very weird though.
Edit: I remember when I saw it. There is a lockscreen app that allows you to unlock the phone using 'The Force'. When you turn on the screen, the proximity sensor lights up at full-power, making you able to see it I guess. Then when moving your hand over your phone in Jedi fashion, it unlocks the screen.
Ok Thanks for your answer
Hey guys I have a quick question. I was watching a youtube video in my room last night in complete darkness on the lowest brightness setting and I noticed the brightness would change slightly at random. I also noticed it on the skyrim live wallpaper and also while scrolling thru the marketplace. It appeared that when there were more white pixels on the screen then the screen would get slightly brighter. This doesnt happen in netflix or movies that i put on there so I'm hoping this is a software bug happening in google apps. Autobrightness is not on and i tried all the power modes with the same response. Anyone else notice this or also able to replicate this? Thanks!
hey dude!
I have the same issue! I think it is on purpouse. Some kind a way to save power? Here is my thread about this. Try my country and please give me some feedback. Most of users dont notice this. Maybe because their eyes are not so sensitive?
Oh and also if you switch to power saving mode the brightness change will much more significant than on the other two modes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419583
Really no one of you have this issue?
Sounds like a possible LCD screen flickering problem. It's a problem a lot of LCD display mobile devices have. My HTC Sensation has it.
Here's how to test it: at night, turn off all the lights in your home. Basically, your test area needs to be as dark as possible. Set your Prime to a set brightness, preferably as low as it can go. Open up something that has a uniform color and general brightness throughout, XDA app works perfectly. Go near a wall and point the display at the wall. Start scrolling back and forth through the app.
If your device has screen flickering, you should notice that the light on the wall rapidly fluctuates whenever you scroll.
will try. but i wonder if this is relatd to tegra 3 power saving system? i notice the brightness / contrast automaticly change while watching movies, surfing web and gaming despite off turning off autobrightness
so the question is. is my prime damaged or this is normal? dear xda users please how does your prime behaves?
It could also be a "feature" called dynamic contrast which is an idiotic way of making LCDs look like they have more contrast than they really have. But I hope it isn't, I despise it. Dynamic contrast works like that: during bright scene it brightens the screen, and during dark scene it darkens the screen. It's really annoying (and shouldn't be on ever apart from maybe when watching movies).
ok but the question is. how many of you noticed this issue?

I think everyone.
For youtube don't use eco. It's to aggressive and outside of normal videos apps like diceplayer it is useless.
I hope nVidia and Asus will decrease it or give us the option to disable it. Because i like the eco mode for watching flash videos. Much better than Balance and Normal because it's enough and i can save battery.

No, it's not for contrast. It's for saving energy by decrease the screen brightness and increase the color level. And it's always doing it. What we see are the problem of the technique.
Well if it is on purpose then it is very annoying. The only thing that helps a bit is to make screen brighter.
I hope it is not a defect of the screen.
Was looking for a thread with this issue, I'm also experiencing this effect.
It's also noticeable with the stock browser, seems some powersaving technique. Hopefully they will optimise it in ics or make it an option.

You guys know that it's not the power setting right? It's in the screen setting under brightness. If you set it to auto, it will adjust depending on your light source, if it's all white, it will be bright in a dark room and will adjust itself. Turn it off, adjust manually.
And you know, its not. It sets brightness high of overall picture is bright and dark if picture is dark... Much like dynamic contrast. It has nothing to do with auto brighteness. I tried that first.
But can I believe it was fixed in some update, since no one continues this thread after ICS? I cannot update becouse of unknow SN bug. Waiting for Asus to say either send it back or release fix. Thanks.
Happening to me right now with ICS, in performance mode, docked with charger in.
I've been noticing subtle changes in brightness no matter what performance mode I'm in, and I always have auto-brightness off. I normally keep the device in Balanced mode. It's most noticeable if I'm watching videos before bed, as I have the device brightness near minimum, and any change in brightness is pretty clear. At first I thought it was something to do with BS Player, but I've been using Dice as well and see the same effect. It may be a little better on ICS than it was with Honeycomb, but it's hard to tell.
If this is DIDIM, then I guess there's not much I can do about it besides hoping nVidia/Asus tunes the effect to be a little more subtle. :-/
I notice it, however it only affects me with low brightness/auto brightness setting. It does NOT kick in for me over 15/20% brightness combined w/ balanced/normal mode.
That is still on HC, wont get ICS update until two weeks.
Can also be noticed when canging homescreen tabs, slide it over slowly with your finger on the display (keeping it from flipping), once moved more than 30%, the display dims.
I am experiencing this brightness fluctuation, in all power modes, with auto brightness turned on or off.
Very annoying.

Thing that annoys me the most is that it does it with a freakin live wallpaper lol. I guess the snow falling in the skyrim live wallpaper triggers it or something but it is annoying and still exists in ICS. Oh well, maybe they will tone it down soon... here's to hoping.

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my X10 camera, or maybe I'm missing some setting? Whenever I start the stock camera (or even other camera apps like vignette) I get a yellow tinted picture the first 20 or so seconds and this happens only indoors with low light levels. It takes the camera from 20 seconds up to 30 to adjust and sometimes more and I have to wave it around to get it exposed to lights and objects, after that the picture adjusts fom very yellowish to normal colors gradually & slowly. Tried adjusting exposure & white balance, set to 'auto', 'night', 'indoors' etc and tried all possible settings and nothing helps. After the shot is taken, the camera goes again to yellow & I have to wait again those 20-30 seconds & wave around before next shot. I know this should be rather normal with room lights but I've compared to other mobiles (not other X10s though) and none have the delay at all, only on my X10. Not even my older SE mobile does this. Is there a setting I'm missing?
Help please if anyone knows. Thank you.
I have this aswell, and always had. not sure if it can be fixed, already got used to a yellow first picture
guess that's how the camera is
Just got the V10 and the second screen dims after 2 or 3 seconds after turning off the main screen. Is there a way to adjust the timing when the second screen dims? The dimmed second screen is almost unreadable because it is so dim.
Ditto, the idea that this is a replacement for a notification LED is really damaged by the dimming. (It's not just me that bought the phone based on that idea, right?) What I've found so far:
With the screen brightness set to 0, the second screen dims fully a few seconds after sleeping. Icons become about as noticeable as dust reflections.
With the screen brightness set to 100, the second screen follows the ambient light sensor after sleeping. Under bright light it turns itself up to the point where it's useable.
I've been playing with all the LEDs that Light Flow sees, but at least without root, nothing has any effect. I might look through the /sys files later. We probably need to get root first to figure this out.
On auto brightness it seems to be that the device adjusts the dimmed display for the ambient lighting? It's not the easiest thing in the world to see, but it's certainly not hard for me to see what notifications I have. I really prefer this over a colored LED.
Light Flow settings
For what it's worth, here's my current setup, now that the T-Mobile H901 is rooted. This does no one without root any good, and I don't know how it would translate to similar LED managers. I've been using Light Flow since the Sapphire (MyTouch 3G).
Light Flow device settings: check direct mode, root mode, and run every command as root. The Nexus 5 force reset option is checked by default and I don't know if that's relevant (no calls yet). Everything else in the menu is unchecked.
Let Light Flow control lcd-backlight-ex.
In a notification, set that "LED" to Solid and to 255 brightness. Check Enable Mixer and App controlled flash. With that last setting, the app will reset the brightness every few seconds even if the system dimmed it due to an ambient light change.
Now I need to edit some notification icons to be big and colorful. I wonder how this will impact battery life? Now the app is going to be awake all the time.
I've noticed that today on auto brightness the second screen will increase in light but not much. It also is not as smoth of a transition as on main display. It kinda jumps up real quick..
Yes for me I've noticed on Auto brightness the second screen will dim in a dark room and if you turn off your phone while in that room then come out... The second screen is still dim.... It's like th second screen doesn't respond to the light sensors at all unless the main screen is on.

It would have been nice if lg included the capability to change the second screen settings such a brightness or text color.

Color would be cool. A classic CRT bright/lime green, for instance, would probably show up much better than the white.
We need to get on their forums with these ideas. Maybe some will get squeezed into an update
An app which turns off auto dim in case screen is off would be pretty much help. Maybe I'll develop one.
Hello,
Has anyone noticed a promixity (maybe ambient light) sensor issue? Often (more in the dark) I can see a weak red light blinking right where there is the proximity sensor(it stays there if automatic brightness is on). I tried disabling and closing one app per time but it seems more like a software bug...
Anyone else?

Tonight, after charging my phone at 100%, I have seen a red little light in the '' capter '' a the right (for automatic luminosity I think). It was a big bug who during ~ 30 minutes. And I have lost 20% of battery, I think, cause to this bug.. Do you already have the bug today?

Are you kidding me guys?:laugh:
It's not a red light.... It's barely visible because it's an Infrared Sensor Infrared light is usually visible only in very dark conditions.
Hint that will make your day - when it's dark and you barely see it, try pointing a camera at it! It flashes white now, doesn't it.

more than wanting to know what it is, i think they want to understand why; why does the proximity sensor stay on?
i had this question too, before updating to the latest firmware (.292). after that, it seems the "problem" doesn't occur anymore, but i'm not that sure. i'll have to double check.
however, do some of you use "Smart backlight control" feature?

Smart backlight control makes use of the accelerometer of the phone. Keeps the screen on by detecting movement. Neat feature.
Smart call handling on the other hand uses the proximity sensor. Also the style cover preinstalled software. And of course Call handling uses the proximity sensor.
I'm using a modified version of Gravity Screen for pocket mode. Proximity sensor flashes all the time in order to turn the screen on and off when it's in or out of the pocket. Also I use the proximity sensor so that the screen won't turn on when it's in the pocket - like when a call comes in and I don't want to accidentally answer.
One thing you should know about the proximity sensor is that it uses a crazy low amount of power (0.18mA). Now the software that uses the sensor might have many wakelocks but we also need features so it's a small price to pay haha. Also if you're planing on using gravity screen (which is a cool app), you can always add a on/off widget.
There's really nothing to worry about - none of those features/apps I mentioned register on power consumption.
