Due to personal reasons, I have closed this thread an decided to no longer post builds here.
I appreciate all the people who enjoyed testing new and excited mods to CM with me. I'm glad I earned a few friends out of doing this, you know who you are.
Redstar's N1 CM7 AVS kernels: http://redstar.euroskank.com/
You should probably go DOWNLOAD some wallpapers too.....
Looking for the morph? Try using an awesome CM7 theme engine apk like HONEYBREAD! But it's on my server if you really want it and look real hard...
One thing you should add to your first post (if you really want to keep the mindless blabber to a minimum) is that "advanced" users should leave the moderating to the moderators. If someone notices a post from a "newb", try to ignore it (or simply hit that report button - call it spam) and let the moderators clean the thread properly.
Woohoo!
Fits returns to cook Bacon and print money! Glad to see the return of gigglebread ...
FWIW, I agree that the moderating should he left to the moderators.... that's what they are there for, after all....
No matter how much someone may deserve to get flamed, its probably better if we stay on topic here... sometimes actions (like ignoring someone) speak much louder than anything that we can type out here....
Now, about that wonking problem....

Yeah actually this is the only rom that it works 8/10 times. Other roms it would force close.

If fits doesn't object, I'll engage in a little shameless self-promotion here....
While my kernels don't fix the wonking problem (yet), they do run especially well on this ROM and others like it....
So if anyone is looking for something different, try flashing any of the "-CM7" kernels in my mediafire folder or the latest one is usually in my signature....
I'm either running them with fits' gigglebread or on a build I compile myself from github, so they should all be working with CM7 based stuff....
I don't want to clutter up the thread too much, so if you have a kernel related question, please post it here only if it relates to this ROM, any general kernel questions, PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can...
Oh, and did I mention that my kernel increases the snapdragon's Bacon cooking efficiency by over 1000%?

Can you trmell me which one of the redstar kernels you are using please
With the 2.3.3 code merged I got a big bump in speed. On the 2.3.2 build I sat around the 1400's or 1500's in quadrant. With the 2.3.3 builds and IR's Kernel I get low 1800's.
I saw the screen shot and figured why not. Redstar's downloaded and installed Redstar's kernel and got my new high score with 1113mhz overclock.
Thanks Redstar! Now if I could only get up to maybe 1152mhz I can finally break 2k.
I just sorted his files by date and used 2.6.37.2_AVS-950mV-CM7_CFS-exp_20110303_0017 if anyone is interested.
Previous high score was at using CM 6.1 with Wildmonk's kernel and an 1190mhz overclock (or 1228mhz i forget) I got a 1904.
Profiles just got merged... you guys should give Martin a thank you email
(the icons I made for him aren't too shabby, either )

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, and I thought it might be useful. I'm using eugene's SlideMR1v4, which doesn't have the tun module. I'm trying to get Cisco VPN connections working (using get-a-robot-vpnc), so I compiled this kernel module from the official android kernel (git://android.git.kernel.org/kernel/msm.git), using the android-msm-2.6.29 branch. The module compiled correctly, and it seems to insert into the kernel correctly. It gives me /dev/tun and /dev/net/tun devices. I haven't gotten vpnc to work completely; although it will connect to my Cisco VPN just fine, it doesn't seem to route packets. Anyway, this file might be useful to you guys, and if anyone has gotten Cisco VPN to work correctly on the mt3gs, let me know.
Edit [2010-07-29]: Updated the zip with a new build based off of the legend kernel source posted on HTC's web site. Supposedly it is the same as the one on stock Slide.

People, for the love of all that is good and right, read the post before commenting. This isn't a custom kernel -- it's a module for the .29 kernel that is already in use on your Slide. And if you do not know how to compile/insert a module into a kernel, you truly should not be inquiring *here* as to how to do so.
Meh.
Hahaha... r0man.. that was one of the funniest posts Ive seen in a long time...

On the other side. Great job compiling this module, i'm sure that someone will absolutly need it, our Cisco vpn saturation is only about 30% of our serviced companies, so someone out there might want to do this with their android device. Saving post in favorites. (i foresee the boss asking about it.)

Cool, let me know how it works out, I have a pretty good build process now so I can crank out pretty much any module that anybody needs.
Initial tests #fail with Eugene's MYFROYO_RC_4 - I'll keep looking into this.
Begging HTC some more to release their Kernel source for this device - not sure if this will help though.
This module is for Eclair, Froyo uses a newer kernel. I haven't gotten around to installing Froyo on my phone, since it doesn't seem nearly as usable. That being said, I can probably compile it for the Froyo kernel if somebody will run a 'uname -a' on their Froyo install and post the output.
Here you go... Guess I could do it from AOSP as well.
Ok, this worked great with eclaire! Dunno why I didn't think of building this from the AOSP.
Good work - this will help us out at work!!
Kernel Manager released! Lite (free): http://tinyw.in/0i8, Pro (cost): Available in the Market ENJOY!
Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new app with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
The app currently does this:
1) Downloads a kernel from our fast and stable teamwin server
2) Unzips the relevant files (modules included)
3) Flashes the kernel
4) Installs the kernel modules
5) Clears cache/dalvik-cache
6) Reboots to apply the changes.
This entire process takes less than a minute, generally, (depending on download speeds of course ), and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorite kernels.
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
In order for this to be a success, we need support from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Right now I'm looking for kernel developers to submit kernels to start populating the app. Submitting kernels is easy!
THE LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app will be released in the market, and there will be a free+ad supported version, and a for-cost version that removes the ads.
Right now, we have a specific list of supported phones, but plan to add every nand-unlocked phone as soon as possible. (There are a lot of variables to account for on multiple devices to make sure the process works )
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!

Just a comment:
A little history of what Ninphetamine ORIGINALLY was - it was an excellent kernel maintained by two very talented developers (Ninpo aka Hacre and Netarchy). Their git repository and work was the inspiration for much of my work on Daily Driver - hell, if you look at my credits list, there's a lot of Ninpo/Netarchy in there. Ninpo had excellent development methodology, but for various reasons (including getting frustrated with XDA whiners), he stopped development until ICS around the time the I777 launched.
So someone who missed Ninphetamine resumed maintenance - but immediately started implementing patches that Hacre would, simply put, never implement. (See his "more frequencies than an FM radio" comment in the linked thread...)
So despite its name - that kernel is NOT Ninphetamine.
Well this would be considered Development, but if nobody plans on making an official post and keeping up with updates, then this thread can stay here.

Even though I only use Entropy's kernel, I'm glad we're getting more development in the area of kernels.
We have so many new ROMs, either hellraised or built from scratch, but if Entropy were to ever move on, we'd be royally screwed considering he's the main kernel dev for our phone, and nobody else is currently working on different kernels.

Hey hey. There wasn't any need for that come on man. You know what gray is trying to say. There are 4 different threads to cm9 builds right now that are very similar. If I wanted to I could upload a cm9 ROM with a couple build.prop tweaks, beats dsp, and google now and make a new thread but theres no point. I agree that it would be the coolest if we could have one thread for cm9 builds with a tweaks section where all you guys can have flashable tweaks. It would clean up the Development section, comments would be in the same place, etc. Gray didn't mean anything mean by his post, just like I don't mean anything mean with mine. I understand what your saying but I'm actually going to fully theme and do more then build prop edits. If I just had a few tweaks I would of just uploaded them instead of wasting my time compiling the source. Plus gray is saying not to do something he already has done... all he did was just post the source build from chad, and like you said anyone can do, it only requires a repo from Chad's github.
Anyways I'm done talking about it. I made this thread to share my works. Download the rom or don't and move on

Good thanks looking forward to the theme!

Just a question, what's the advantages of theming cm9 when it has a theme manager which can just install themes on the fly?

Cool with me.
Just seems unnecessary to have 3 builds.
I am looking forward to seeing your themes and stuff.

Okay.. Most of you people know who I am.. and if you know me you know I am not much of a kernel dev ... Regardless, I love AOSP but while running CM10.1, I felt I was missing some things that were more readily available for a Stock ROM.. Things such as (unofficial)Voodoo sound, Overclocking and Undervolting.. So I went ahead and forked CM's kernel and added a few needed things.
Notes:
Thie kernel is for AOSP only!
This kernel include's codeworkx's downgrade to mali r2p4 commit from CM's gerrit.. In this commit codeworkx specifically states that there is a memory leak. Now I will also say this.. This downgrade greatly improves the graphical glitches found in the android 4.2 ROMS, IE no more keyboard funkyness etc... I have yet to see this leak myself and think the trade-off is worth it. If this causes serious issues for people let me know.
Features:
Compiled with the Linaro GCC 4.7.3 toolchain
Updated wifi driver
Unofficial Voodoo sound driver (otherwise this has not been reviewed and approved by Supercurio)
OverClock up to 1.8 Ghz
CPU Undervolting
Downgrade to mali r2p4 which fixed graphic glitches
ChangeLog:
A4 - initial release
A5
Compiled with the Linaro GCC 4.7.3 toolchain
Updated wifi driver

You say there is a memory leak with the downgrade, I assume this will affect performance? Do you know where the CM kernel is located, in case we want to go back?
Thanks for the development! Maybe we'll see a comeback of Gummy....or Liberty....
Its not bad. Not getting near the benchmarks i was getting with jelly beans and perseus kernal.
Ps: battery seems to be better on this now though(liquid 3.2.1)

Benchmarks don't matter. Don't waste your time.

you can always just reinstall CM right over the top to get the CM kernel back.. and I personally have not seen a performance hit on the GPU..The opposite really
Can any one try and see if skypes' mic works? I know it doesn't on the stock cm kernel.

not exactly true, although most of the time it is. Benchmarks matter when you compare apples to apples but not so when you compare apples to oranges.
So lets say you have CM installed on a phone.. you then run some benchmark. take note of the score. then you turn around and install a new kernel then rerun the benchmark.. I believe that is a fairly accurate way to show improvement. This benchmark will only show you a very small window of what has been improved and may not show other signs of what has been negatively effected. So as a way to test further you could run multiple benchmarks to help alleviate that issue.
Now if you use benchmarks to compare different phones, SOC or completely different OS's versions, that's when benchmarks really stop telling the truth.

Fantastic! I've been running this all day, I'll offer some thoughts and bugs if I run into anything. Great work
I think I love you. For the first time in AOSP, my COMPASS IS WORKING! This also fixed my rendering issues with some apps on 4.2. :highfive:
I'm getting closer and closer to Paranoid Android being my daily driver. If only GPS and 4.2 camera weren't so flaky...
Re: [Kernel][AOSP] BasicKernel 01/31
Thanks for this option.
FWIW I'm getting pretty similar AnTuTu scores as with Beans/Perseus...

So since you're back in the game then, will we see Liberty on the Note.
Been running this kernel since this morning and everything is awesome. I've noticed better battery life and all I did was overclock to 1.8. I haven't played around with undervolting yet.
Thank you!!
