[Q] ROM Starting with "1.43 - T-Mobile UK" - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have searched for soemone that has had the same ROM as me and to no avail. In order to install a new ROM I need to use the right 'extraction kit'. It seems none of them are for the ROM starting with 1.43? Am I being daft or should I just stop looking and figuring it out now?
I bought a T-Mobile phone, had it unlocked yesterday. It still has all the T-Mobile settings on and I can't put the Vodafone settings on. I have been 'playing this game' for many years now, I have bought the Bepe ROM a bumber of times for different devices; excellant stuff. I want to do the same again.
Please could someone point me in the right direction please - For Clarification:
"Which HSPL Package should I use?"
Or if there is none - "How to change the settings on a phone that does not let you?"
Thank-you in advance,
Will

Has no-one ever had this ROM? I cannot possibly be the only one?! Don't answer this - But do you think I will brick my phone by using a 1.42 ROM HSPL Package de-rommer?
Will

For HD2, if I remember correctly, there is no ROM dump solution.
Check here if you find your stock ROM (thought I had seen it there) to have it as a fallback solution.
To install any other ROM than the T-Mob stock ROM on your HD2, just use HSPL4.exe to install HSPL 2.08 on your phone, and flash via USB or SD card.
You can actually find all you need in the stickies.

Thanks you confirmed what I thought. I have found the Stock ROM. I've tried the HPSL4, no joy!
Thank-you,
Will

Did you try HSPL2.exe? This should definitely work if there should be issues with HSPL4.exe.

your a genius - thank-you....
Will

SOLVED
To anyone reading this;
What I have learnt is as follows:
- It seems that you run a HSPL PKG whether it is 1,2,3,4, or 5, and you will not brick your phone - ( I am not guaranteeing this - but going on my own experience).
- I was advised by experts that had gone through the process, the wrong HSPLs. This is NOT their fault, but it appears your phone is very unique.
- All you need to do is trial and error.
- You will be asked when running the HSPL which ROM version you are installing - make sure you have read the thread of the ROM you are installing very well. (Even have it open to run through it when run HSPL.
- Once you have 'cracked' your Stock ROM, then it seems that you can then run the correct HSPL PKG for the particular ROM you want.......
I hope this helps and you have learnt from my research.....
Take Care,
Will

Updating/Upgrading a HTC Cingular 8525?

Hi there everyone.
I have just bought a new HTC Cingular 8525 but it is running windows mobile 5. I would like to upgrade but I cannot find any downloads or instructions on how to do so. I do not want to brick up my new phone. Does anybody know a download link to upgrade to the latest windows mobile version that will work on my phone. Its an american bought phone which is unlocked and I am using it in the UK on Three. It used to be locked to at&t and I am pretty sure much of the at&t rubbish is slowing my memory and speed of the unit. If I were to upgrade will the phone still be unlocked?
Rom version is 2.15.502.3
Rom date is 04/09/07
Radio version is 1.40.30.00
Protocol version is 32.73.7020.16H
Operating system is (build 15706.3.5.2)
I am all new to this and would appreciate any advice idiot proof I have flashed many PSPs and other things but nothing like this.
As I have just got the phone I am still trying to work out how to use it so I have no idea how to do a Hard or Soft reset and have no idea about the roms
Sorry to waste your time
Please help
Rob
You should read through the Hermes wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Make sure you install hardspl! If you install the "official" AT&T WM6 install hardspl again, your phone will stay unlocked, even with custom roms. If you flash one of the big storage roms, then go to try another, flash the "official" rom before flashing another custom rom.
Read the wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
I would also suggest making sure your phone is "super cid" before flashing custom roms, you'll also be able to flash from an sd card if you are super cid.
Read a bunch before flashing any radio roms!!!
Read, read, and re-read before you flash, and you should be fine. They have made the process fairly straight forward, but you can never be too sure. I have never "bricked" my phone, and I jumped in with both feet!
Mustn't flash a lot then because if you did you will end up with a brick sometime... I've always been able to recover my Hermes but there is STILL the possibility it won't.... one day...

I guess I have been lucky, but I'm sure I haven't flashed as much as others on here. But, I tried to follow the wiki, and tried to learn from others mistakes before I made some of my own. So, I figure if I can flash my Hermes, others should be able to do the same. And I have read up on the issues for when you "brick it", just in case.
I flashed several roms from the beginning (when I got my hermes), and learned a bunch. Then found what I needed/wanted in a rom, and spent days and days and days reading through many threads to find ones that fit me. I actually tried not to flash too much, but that can be a hard temptation to overcome.
So, just trying to pass on what has worked for me, to avoid the hard resets and such.
I would like to attempt cooking my own rom, and have read through tons of info on it, and played with some kitchens. Still working on learning that stuff, it'll give you a good appreciation of what the chefs around here do.
Whenever i get to the update part of the software my htc turns itself off and disconnects?
I then get the error 260?

I haven't ran into that one, but I went to the top of the page, clicked search, and typed in "error 260" (without the quotes). And got this http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...r+260&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
hopefully one of those will help you....google is your friend
I found out that its because I'm running vista. I tried to view Mr. Vanx's guide but its no longer there at this link..
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
So I am a bit stuck as I tried to do the following on here..
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeForBeginners
With no avail. It wont even let me install the HARD-SPL as it just gets stuck in bootloader mode with the error 260.
I have no idea what to do now. This process needs to be simplified more
http://www.mrvanx.org/thg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=26
Now make sure your device is on and activesync (or for vista users the WMDC) is running on your PC

I don't have anything running vista.
I still got the same error
thanks for your help though!

It tells you how to Hard SPL your Hermes with the sd card method. It also gives you ALL the apps needed.
After you Hard SPL your phone you can use the sd card method to flash a new OS. Flashing a new OS though requires you to drop steps 5 & 6 (you don't need sspl.exe once you have Hard SPL). Just remember though that the bootloader won't recognize any sd card bigger than 2gb...
Cheers...
Thanks for that. Its just now I have a problem where my phone is stuck on the Tri-Colour screen
Did you format the sd card fat32 (they are default format FAT) and rename the .nbh file to "hermimg.nbh"?
Is the sd card 2Gb or less?
You're on bootloader, is your SPL 1.09 des? If yes then insert the sd card and reset.
Cheers...
it might be an issue with activesync
i read somewhere before that activesync 6.1 won't sync with WM6 on vista machines.
I had to downgrade mine to ActiveSync 6.0 to get mine working again.
just an idea that might work

[Q] Stock HD2 to Android 2.2 (T-Mobile UK) Help?!

right guys, i know i may be asking for something that has already been covered on another post somewhere on xda-dev, but i am in need of help in getting my stock HD2 upto speed so that i can use a bootloader to get froyo running.
one thing i must point out before hand is that i also use my HD2 as a wifi hotspot, so if anything goes wrong im f*cked in terms of downloading something else to fix a problem after ive flashed so i am desperately in need of an itemised list of how to go about this to minimise possible ****ups. this phone is still only 1/4 the way through the contract also.
my software versions are...
OS 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
Manilla 2.5.20121429.0
ROM 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE
Radio 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol Version 15.32.50.07U
any help would be greatly apreciated.
i managed to get a copy of some android build onto my mSD card but haret didnt get past the lines on the screen which then fade to black (which i believe is a ROM related issue)
You need to flash a new radio, use search and you'll be on your way
does it have to be any specific radio? also can this procedure brick my device if certain precautions arent taken?
Try a. 50 variant, they're the most reliable, try 2.12.50... most seem to get along fine with that on android. Just make sure you read the flashing guides thoroughly in the HD2 ROM DEVELOPMENT thread and all should be fine, all the info is in there, if you're unsure, read again, after one or two flashes it becomes second nature, did for me anyway.
You need hspl too, again in the rom development section, happy androiding!

[Q] Which Rom to use?

Hi guys I have a HD2 (obviously says you's) that is locked to only installing Vodafone roms. Im stuck on rom 1.72 as Vodafone havent released any newer ones nor are they intending too!
I wanted to install hspl and install the newest htc stock rom. 3.03?
But I am aware that there is no hspl available that will allow you to do this.
So my question is, what is the newest Rom I can install that HSPL can do and where would I get it?
Thank you for your help
Mark
You can only install a stock Rom from your device.
This means if you have a branded device; you can only install stock rom this branded device.
BUT;
You have two solutions:
- Using a custom rom.
- Using the GoldCard solution/technique. in this case you can install stock rom 3.14
i'd suggest going for a custom ROM...the possibilities are endless, check out the ROM Dev. forum and pick the one that suits u best.
Hi thanks for your help. I'm trying the goldcard version now but need a little help please. When it says
1. Download your 3.14 Stock ROM from HTC, Links you will find here:XDA 623283
2. Extract your Stock ROM (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_XXX_3.14.XXX_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.1 5 .50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe)
3. Copy RUU_signed.nbh to your Goldcard and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh
(Use the “Explore” Feature of ActiveSync / MobileDeviceCenter)
What escatly does it mean? I have downloaded the rom which has a the name
"_HTCHD2_RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship"
What do I do to this now to extract it? When I double click on it it just opens the programme. Could someone help me please.
Thank you
Its ok I worked out how to extract the file thanks. Hopefully it works now
Its still not working.
When I turn the phone off after following all the steps and hold volume down and press power button the bootloader screen laods but it doesnt load the LEOIMG.nbh.
At the bottom it just says 'Serial'.
What am I doing wrong? I have followed all the instructions
Just a morning Bump
You most probably must Format your SD Card, but from my bitter experiance I would consider the steps very carefully before flashing from an SD Card,I was lucky to bring my HD2 back to life after a day of bicking it.
I myself installed the HSPL tried out many custom ROMS but so far couldnt find one without a bug,one thing I noticed common with all of them:my WIFI suffered badly that was my main reason to go back to the stock ROM,which has good WIFI reception now as my laptop!!.
Even the new Stock 3.14 reception was not up to my current one.
This is just my experiance.

htc HD2: I want to switch from Android build to WM.6.5 , no guide on forum.......

I installed android and it sucks, it reboots all the time, apps are useless, there are of course more things that made me want to switch but i dont want to go into details.
i almost turned my phone into brick when i installed android so i just want a step by step process on how to go back to windows mobile 6.5, and what version is recommended for best performance.
Ok I sugest going back to the stock ROM for your HD2 as you can flash it via SD card anx make everything stock with ome flash. But if you want to go with a custom ROM I suvedt any oc the Energy ROMs they are great. You can flash either of the ROMs via SD card or just put your HD2 into bootloader and wait for Serial to change to USB in the white bar of bootloader and then flash the ROM of your choice. If you flash via USB with official ROM it willnot revert your HSPL to SPL bit via SD card it will. Here is a link to tbe thread on how to flash via SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317
ok, so i understand that i put the downloaded ROM to my HTC's SD card, hard reset the phone, and do the rest of the steps from the lik you sent.
What about radio? when do i flash it and do i need to flash it?
also, which of the hotfile files from the build available here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
is the "energy" theme? (the first one from the list in post 2)
when i click on the link it sends me to cookie's home tab thread.

Fist off make sure not to confuss putting your HD2 into bootloader and preforming a manual hard reset. To hard reset you have to power on and hold both volume down and up buttons down and the tricolored bootloader will appear for a brief secound but then another screen with instructions will appear. To put it into bootloader just power on holding down the volume down button and you will get tbe bootloader.
Flash the radio you want either before or after you flash the ROM. It really does not matter wich it will still preform it's function the same. I suggest radio version 2.15.50.14 as it is the latest radio version. You don't just have to flash another radio though if you don't want to. I say if you are not having problems with your current reception then your current radio should do fine. You can flash the radio tbe exact same way as the ROM using your SD card. Just rename the .nbh file for the radio to leoimg.nbh and copy it to your SD card. Or you can flash it via USB cable and your computer by using bootloader.
I checked out the link you posted. To download the zip file for the ROM you have to lick on the appropriate download link with the flag that applies to you. Let the page fully load when you go to the first page of the thread and look for the download button links toward the bottom of post #2. You will have two zip files to choose from I would say go with the largest of the two files as it will probably be the one with the start button at the bottom of the screen. I can not be certain of this though as I have a TMOUS HD2 and can not flash the ROM to check.
thanks for the reply, but i turned my phone to a brick yesterday before i read your post, turned out i didnt install HSLP (or something like that) which you need for installing new roms... immediately i went to a shop to get it fixed and luckily they had software that erased everything and installed original software
Glad you got your HD2 up and running again. I was wondering though if you checked to see if you could still get the bootloader to come up by holding down the volume down button down while powering on? Reason why I ask is you said.

I think when you flashed the custom ROM with out HSPL it ran a task 28(it is some debate wich is bett3er task 28 or task 29) before trying to flash the ROM which removed the current ROM from your HD2 leaving it ROM less. If your HD2 was truly bricked the place you brought it to would have had to disassemble your HD2 to get the main board out so they could use a JTAG on it. For that is the only way to revive a truly bricked HD2. So you see I am afraid you paid someone for something you could have done yourself. But the whole point was to get your HD2 up and running again so it is probably worth it to you. Peace
i've read what needed to be done in my sitation, and i ran into a big guide with some info about a program i needed to have fo 30 euro, it was then when i decided to go with the shop.
i had a RGB screen with some info on it, but i dont remember what it was, i'm just glad i got it fixed.
what free procedure have you had in mind?
Get HSPL back on it, Follow Energy ROM recomendations regarding radio version & get 23699 ROM Dinik from ROM repository.
With a few aditional registry tweaks this is one of the best performing ROMs put together.
My HD2 runs supurb on this ROM with over 40 aditional softwares loaded & used daily for work & leasure.
Simply blows a stock ROM away & makes Android only a SD card loaded plaything.

2 ways mate:
1. enter bootloader (press and hold volume down then briefly press power menu)
and flash a custom ROM
2. if you follow other peoples advice here of flashing a stock ROM via sdcard,
you will loose HSPL. or you can just flash a stock ROM via USB method and
keep HSPL on your device.
I personally recommend step 1.

What I was refering to in my other post is this. I feel like the shop probably just ran a task 29 (Google task 29 for HTC HD2) and then just flashed the stock ROM for your HD2 Wich can be downloaded for free from XDA, HTC.com, and probably your carriers website. These are all things you can do yourself. But like I said if the shop had to take your HD2 apart you did theright thing.
eh, i think they run the thing you said, so i am like 40$ lost on this... this solution should be easier to find, i searched google and xda for the problem i ran into, i typed different keywords, searched for an hour and found only some big guide with one of the steps requiring to buy a software for 20 euro. This forum should be better organized when it comes to HTC errors. Some screens and direct links to solutions.

Just an humble suggestion, users should read "stickies" before they do something to their device.
Almost all of guides, video, tutorial or references links are stickied at the beginning of the the forum/subforums

[problem] Dead T-mobile HD2?

I had Magloader and WP7 in it. As time went by I upgraded to HD7 and never looked back. It's been a while since I have touched XDA and WM6.5.
My assumption is that even with Magloader, you only have to flash your stock ROM and it'll revert back to WM.
Mine won't go on and I suspect that I flashed a Non-Tmobile compatible ROM. Can someone confirm that this is the case? Here's the ROM string: RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.0 7U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship.exe
I understand completely that if I messed it up then it's messed up. I just wanna make sure there might be other solutions or something I am missing out.
-Thanks in advance!
----------------------------------
Is this a final answer? I need to know if it's bricked and nothing else can be done.
Anyone thinks a shop may be able to recover it back? It won't go on at all..

Sometimes, it´s easier than you think.
You´ve got 2 options to get rid of HSPL. One of those options would be simply described in the original thread of HSPL.exe software. If you would have checked this program a little bit, you would have noticed the very fact that you can select what SPL or HSPL you want to install.
Second, you can flash your stock ROM via SD card method, this will replace HSLP and everything else - this does not work using RUU.exe via USB.

By the looks of the radio installed (2.04.50_22_2), I would say that you did brick your T-mobile phone. Take a look at the following thread for a possible solution to unbrick your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
Hi thanks for the response Lavell. Would MTTY be able to do anything?
The phone doesn't turn on at all, or it seems.
I've never bricked one before so Idk if this is the way it happens.
its gone. dead. it will need JTAGging or a new mainboard.
that thread wont help, the phone wont power on, and that thread requires you can get into bootloader.
that's a really early rom you used, the tmous didnt even exist when that rom shipped.
If you want to get rid of it let me know please!!!
Hey guys, don't mean to hijack the thread but I got the same problem here.
Had WP7 but could not use 2g so I went back to MAGLDR113 and installed the file below:
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship
It went all the way to 100% but now the phone is dead. Computer makes a sound when I plug in usb but I have tried changing batteries and all but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know in Dallas or areas around how to do that JTAG thing?
There is no proper documentation on how to go back to stock 6.5 Windows or at least I could not find one

At its most basic, its the same for ALL hd2's, ,
1 get the correct stock rom for your region&vendor
2 flash it
thats it.
Sadly lots of times this is shortened to
1 get stock rom
2 flash it
and people just assume they can use any stock rom, and since they usually already have HSPL installed, it allows the flash to start, and tmous phones die.
Yeh think the HSPL installer should of had a TMOUS version either blocking known bricking radio & ROMs or just an on screen message warrning & advising on checking before comencing with flash.
At end of the day it is the users fault for not researching or using a TMOUS rom to be 100% safer !
