I bought my phone from Orange UK and unlocked the phone as I wanted to use my T mobile sim card. However I can't send or receive picture messages as I guess the phone is still using the wrong settings.
I have tried the HTC app but this did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?
Have you activated your data settings?
I can browse the internet fine, is there another setting for mms anywhere?
You would need to go into HTC HUB and download an app called Connection Setup and that will fix and configure your APN settings
Atm you cannot enter the apn for mms.. By installing the Connection Setup it will configure it for you

Hi new to all this so need help with this problem, my HTC HD2 phone was originally on t mobile until i got it unlocked and im now on o2. checked all sorts of forums and they all say same its not possible to do "is this right"
yea its perfectly possible. chances are your mms server is still set to either tmobile settings, or trying to use t mobile access point.
settings - menu - all settings - connections and run connection setup.
failing that, manually edit teh mms server settings AND the o2 access points. (If you set it up manually then thats probably why, because o2 uses two seperate access points, one for mms and one for mobile data)
to get to mms server settings its message tab - all messages - menu - settings (im on an android rom so cant check exactly, but its somewhere there)
Im also running android and checked the settings on a thread but still not able to send, ive got iphone and no probs sending mms on there using same sim card so problem must be with phone.
Hey,
I'm trying to access the internet using the mobile data and so on but it seems I can't get it working. I've tried adding an APN which I used on my Android device but that fails also, anyone got any ideas?
Ps. I'm new to WP7
Grab "Connection Setup" off Marketplace, that alloed me to get my Voda APN settings even though i have an Orange branded Mozart.

Thanks,
I've seem to of able to get myself the internet connection via mobile data when off WiFi. Is there a way for MMS to work as well or?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but as i said before, the connection setup program sorted my APN and MMS settings perfectly...

When I run the connection setup and select the one that I'm on and so on, the internet doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure If I'm suppose to do anything after that or wait? But when I add a manual APN in for the net it then starts working.
MMS = Just tells me it can't send.
Not quite sure why but I can't seem to be able to use the internet or the official twitter application when trying to connect via mobile data. The twitter application tells me an error as occurred and the web pages don;t even load.
I unlocked this as it was locked to Orange so I could use on the O2 network, I've tried using the HTC application and that doesn't seem to change anything or fix the problem.
Under the APN I have the following:
APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username: payandgo
Password: password
Data Connection: On
3G Connection: On
Hi All,
My wife doesn't have a data plan for her Mini Pro, so we have the network data turned off.
She uses text/mms a lot and I wanted to see if there is a way to allow her MMS (Handcent) to access the network data to download pictures without allowing any other programs to access the network data.
Currently, when she receives an MMS, I turn on her network data, download the pic and then turn it back off. As you can imagine, it is not a long-term solution.
For all other data, she uses wifi -
I appreciate any help/insights you all may have!
Afaik, MMS uses a separate apn from data connections. Meaning you could totally turn off data and she would still be able to use MMS. As to your question, Permissions Denied or LBE Privacy Guard might be what you're looking for.
This may be an issue specific to AT&T in the US, but to receive picture messages on their network, you need to enable the network data.
For text messages, they will come and go even with the data turned off as they are routed seperately.
I'll see if the programs you recommended might be a way for me to restrict all network data access except to mms -
I have the same problem using Telcel in Mexico.
I do the same thing as you do to your wife's phone, sadly I haven't found a workaround. Good thing is we get notified when we receive a MMS so we know when to enable it.
You can add a widget or use the status bar to turn data on/off with a single touch, I think that's the fastest way without leaving it on all the time.
I forgot to mention APNdroid. Just search for it on the market. It disables the network connection by modifying the APN.
I saw this posted elsewhere on XDA and it seemed to work so far (I'll let you know after I receive my bill at the end of the month).
"Go into apn settings. If you have only one for data and mms, then edit it, and right at the end "apn type" probably says "default " or perhaps "*" or maybe "default, supl, mms "
Change that to say just "mms"
If you have two entries one will be for default, supl and will have a on off toggle, the second will be for mms and won't have a toggle. Just toggle off the data one or edit out the default in apn type."
When I launched the web browser it said I was not connected to the internet, but I was still able to send and receive picture messages.

Hi guys,
I don't know where else to ask this, it has me totally stumped.
I just changed from O2 to Tesco pay monthly and I can't get my AOL and Gmail accounts to connect.
I've talked through the APN settings with Tesco but they're unable to figure it out either.
I can connect to the internet OK via a browser but my email accounts return an error when I go to inbox and send/receive:
"Cannot Connect", "Cannot connect with current connection settings, to change your conection settings, tap settings"
I've been through it many times without success.
My mail accounts are set up properly, they were working with the O2 SIM, and they connect fine and send/receive over WiFi.
Am I missing something?
(I also have 3 native SD android roms installed on the HD2, they won't even connect to the internet despite my best efforts, phone calls work fine though).
I put the Tesco SIM in an old Wildfire, and it configured correctly straight away
Spent all day googling and trying to figure this out
Help. :crying:
What was the settings they gave you ?
Was it WAP based internet .
What WM ROM are you using, do you have the HTC connection setup link in Settings>Connections as that has Tesco Mobile settings can auto install them.

Thanks for replying
APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
Username: tescowap
Password: password
Proxy 193.113.200.195
Port 8080
Yes, I believe it's WAP based.
Rom = 1.66.405.2 WWE
Radio = 2.15.50.14
Yes, I have the connection setup link and I've cleared/reset the database several times.
I also went into Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks and removed all the previous modem settings.
I've used the database settings and also the ones sent by Tesco by text.
Tesco seem to be pretty good, their helpline operator ran through all the settings using his onscreen WM6.5 representation of the HD2's menus (I was surprised they just didn't say "not supported"), but it still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if it could be the Radio Rom, as none of my Android Roms will connect to the internet, (although WM does)
It would be a major task to hard reset, as I have some critical work apps installed and configured just right, so I don't want to do that unless there's no other choice.
If you get another providers sim to work on internet then I doubt it device or radio but rather settings as WAP & proxy is a bit of a pain.
Try the following (I hope has small variation on what you may of tried already !, be sure double check typing & make sure the modem connection has the black selection dot in it once completed; settings>connections>connections>manage existing connections. Add a new modem connection ("New" soft key). Put a appropriate name for new modem connection and choose "cellular line (GPRS)" Next enter apn address, prepay.tesco-mobile.com . Next enter username, tescowap . and password, password . Finish . Under proxy tab , tick "this network uses a proxy.." Put 193.113.200.195 in proxy server box . Tap advanced and put 193.113.200.195:8080 for the first 3 (HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP) and 193.113.200.195:1080 for the last (Socks). Exit from settings then go back in & check you can see the new modem setting & that it the checked connection option, exit again & Soft reset & fingers crossed ...
I'm using a custom WM ROM so don't be put off too much if some details seem named differently.
You may want clean out existing settings or try couple of changes in details if doesn't work :-S
Not a keen fan of your radio version but it is a well used one & I not seen internet connection issues with it but you never know ! so a radio change maybe worth a shot if really come to an end on the settings !
Hi, this is a screenshot of the settings, I think I got it right?
It still doesn't work
instead of port 8080 try 9201 !
I do remember newer builds of Magicall software caused internet connection failure, u happen to have that by any chance !
Port 9201 disables all my internet connection and email still not working
I tried 8080 again, internet back but no email.
I don't have magicall, though I wish I did sometimes
In connections advanced tab under select networks button what do you have selected for programs that automatically connect to the internet ?
Seems it actually connecting in terms of internet means you can't be far off.
Worth running through mail settings & see if anything can be adjusted to help.
Also what mail type is setup here (IMAP/POP3) & does Tesco Mobile have any limitations on mail server connections ?

I can't find anything except the normal settings to adjust. Plus my email settings work fine over WiFi

AOL is IMAP4, I haven't asked Tesco Mobile if they have any specific limitations but the standard settings work fine with the SIM in a Wildfire running Android 2.2, I've gone through all the working settings on the Wildfire to see whether there's anything different there but I can't find anything, though I suppose there might be some small but important setting I've missed
I also tried to set up a gmail account on the HD2, but that doesn't work either
Can anyone help me with the APN settings please, I am in the UK, have been in touch with T-mobile / EE who really aren't helpful at all, it would be great to receive & send mms & haven't been able to do so for ages. I do apologise if this has been asked, I did scroll through a lot of pages.
go to settings - access point and activate mobile provider from list (if not activated) restart phone and mobile internet and MMS must working... in most case phone successfully load settings from SIM cards
or manually add new access point....
If seen some situations where the only way for it to fetch the apn for the card is to restore to factory defaults and with the card on the phone choose recomended settings on the first prompt. Try it if all else fails.
