Q. Can someone make a video on how to flash CM7? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to flash but I really have no idea. I'm not going to use it yet, but I'm going to use it when it's good enough to be a daily driver. I want to know how to flash because the instructions are so confusing.
So can someone help?

Wow. There is a lot to do.
1. Root your phone
2. Download super user from the market.
3. Download rom manager from the market.
4. Go in to rom manager and select flash clock work mod recovery. Select your phone. (Vibrant)
5. Download proper drivers to your computer. This is so you can read/write files from copmuter to phone or visa versa.
6. Download rom of choice to computer.
7. Plug phone to computer. Make sure phone debugging is on. Go to settings.
8. Download rom to phone. Make sure its on your internal sd not your external.
9. Got to rom manager. Select flash rom from sd.
10. Now you are in recovery. Select select zip from sd. Select choose zip.
11. Select rom you downloaded.
12. Let it do its thing.
13. Reboot phone.
14. Don't do anything for 10-15 min.
15. Reboot again.
16. Enjoy.

No bro, I know how to flash a Custom ROM. I do not know how to flash CM7 because it is a special method. Apparently, neither do you.

Its good your trying to help someone but maybe read what he's asking before answering question? Giving false info like that might leave new android user with soft,or hard bricked phone.

Hahahaha. My bad. I did this through my phone and all I saw was "can some on post a video in how to flash" then I went in it and started reading the OP. Completely missed the CM7 in the heading. Have you checked out youtube??

I just did it on mine and got it working, I'll try to add in some notes to help make it easier
FIRST TIME FLASHING CM7 TO YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY S SERIES PHONE:
Make sure your phone is fully charged! Update process will take some time.
Make sure there's enough free space at your internal sdcard (200MB)
If you are running a Samsung ROM and have disabled HDSPA using the magic dialer code, you have to enable it before you flash CM otherwise you won't be able to activate HDSPA on CM again.
-If you don't know what this is you can probably skip it
Download the initial stuff (DEVICE-efsbackup, cm7-DEVICE-initial-kernel.tar, cm7-DEVICE-initial-XXXXXXXX.zip)
Copy following files to your internal sdcard
- DEVICE-efsbackup.zip
- cm7-DEVICE-initial-XXXXXXXX.zip
Flash a stock kernel with clockworkmod-recovery included like speedmod using odin
-Download Odin if you don't have it yet, boot into download mode(with the yellow triangle)mount the .tar file under PDA and click start(with auto reboot unchecked), when it's done boot into recovery and click yes on the install new system config(I think that's what it said?)
Reboot into recovery using 3-button-combo and apply DEVICE-efsbackup.zip.
- Don't use "reboot recovery" command or other shiny things to do this!
Flash cm7-DEVICE-initial-kernel.tar as pda using odin without auto-reboot
Reboot into recovery using 3-button-combo
Choose "mounts & storage" and format system, data, cache
Apply zip from sdcard: cm7-DEVICE-initial-XXXXXXXX.zip
Do a wipe!
-from here you can also install the updates you want and gapps
Reboot
OPTIONAL: Copy Gapps to your internal sdcard and flash at recovery
* DEVICE = stands for your device name. e.g. captivate, galaxys, galaxysb, vibrant

Download mode and recovery mode seem to work differently for people, but the way it worked for me was:
-Download: Plug in phone, when the loading circle pops up hold vol up/down and power, release power when it goes to black, then release everything when the yellow triangle pops up, takes a couple tries sometimes
-Recovery: With phone off and unplugged hold volume up/down, release power at Vibrant screen, I think releasing everything at that screen worked too.
Hope that helps clear some things up, it makes more sense as you do it, following the instructions word for word is key though.
Also it says to use Nexus S drivers, the Vibrant drivers worked fine for me though
Also, check the noob guide that's stickied if you don't understand something

I have been using cm7 for a while now. It is really smooth and stable for the most part. I get random for closes on browser, gapps, and few apps i use but usually a reboot fixes it for me. Hope this helps

thanks Ender. I'll try it out when I leave work today.

Sorry, I can be a bit slow to respond
Still have it, it's plenty tolerable, biggest issues are that it'll reboot occasionally and force close things a little more often than normal, no big deal, and the battery isn't great but mainly just games will kill it real quick. It's my only phone and it hasn't bothered me at all using it.

NEW mytouch slide root

hi... this post is for those who wants to root the mytouch quickly and easily without even using a computer. these directions will be step by step, because i know how frustrating it is when someone gives a broken step expecting you to fill in the blanks.
note
im not responsible for what happens to your phone. i am simply showing you hope when all else fails. now lets get started.
ALL CREDIT GOES TO CLOCKWORK FOR HIS UNBELIEVABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ANDROID COMMUNITY. THANK YOU
first things first, you need a mytouch slide, your phone charging, rom manager free from the android market, universal androot which i will post the link below, and finally a custom rom from xda developers. pick anyone you like preferably cyanogen mod.
step 1. take the custom rom you downloaded from either your pc or from your phone: pc-> if you downloaded it off your pc, then you need to connect your phone to your pc and put the custom rom file on the root of your sd. you dont have to rename it, just leave as is. phone-> if you downloaded it off your phone, then i hope you heard of astro file manager from the market?! you need that to explore your sd card from your phone and find the custom rom on your downloads folder, and edit, move, to the root of your sd card. then paste.
step 2. now you need to get the universal androot apk from the link below. once you download it, make sure you put it anywhere on your phones sd card. once it's there, use astro once more to find that apk on your sd card and install it by clicking on it.
step 3 now all you need is rom manager free from the android market. i hope that you know how to find and install it.
now that you are all situated, the real part begins, and i will also explain why we are doing it this way along the process okay.
step 4 open up the universal androot apk on your phone and it should look pretty simple. the only thing you do here is make sure that root temporary(unroot after reboot) is checked. then hit root . you should get a sucess and the superuser apk showing up in your app drawer. if yes then proceed to step 5.
step 5 now that you have temporary root, this will give you permission to use root apks until reboot. luckily i found out that rom manager has the ability to flash clockwork recovery while your phone is still on. well this is what your going to do. open up rom manager, and the very top option is "flash Clockwork Recovery" hit this and it should install it. after that click on "install rom from sd card." find your custom rom that you put on here from before, and click on it, then check both boxes: backup existing rom, and wipe data and cache, and hit ok. now hit ok to go into recovery. if you get a superuser request at this point then congratulations, its working. allow it , and proceed to step 6 .
step 6 now your phone is restarting and should back up the system and start installing the custom rom. if for some reason it doesnt install right there, and takes you to clockwork recovery(blue words), then go to step 7. if not then step 8
step 7 if you are in clockwork recovery and dont know what the heck youre at, well in short, your at a screen where your allowed to install any rom meant for the mytouch slide including the 2.2 froyo. yay! navigation is simple if you know how. volume buttons are for navigation up and down, and the camera button on the right bottom is for selecting, while the power button at the top of the phone is to go back one. got it ? all you want to do is intall your custom rom if you havent yet. you might first want to do the wipe data/ factory reset, to make sure everything goes smoothly on your new rom. after that go back to the screen with all the options, and go to install zip for sdcard. then it is important to choose zip from sdcard, as i have no idea what the apply sdcard:update.zip will do to your phone. after you click choose update, you should be in a familiar area: your sdcard. find your custom rom and install it. it will work if its a complete and compatible rom for your phone. once done hit reboot system now and presto step 8.
step 8 ur done lol. enjoy your new rom. misc. if you ever want to go back into clockwork recovery, then go into your normal recovery by power + volume down while your phone is turned off. then hit recovery option. youll notice that you are at the normal recovery. push power+volume up for new set of options. theres an option call apply zip update. click on the and boom, you should pop up in clockwork recovery.
universal androot since i am a new user, i cannot post links but here is an attachment, and if your not signed in then you will find the program by going to 4shared.com and searching for UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta.apk uploaded by chrisjcj27. thanks and good luck

Followed your steps completely. After i get root and flash CW Recovery, I go to install the custom rom and make a Nandroid backup.........it restarts phone and take me to the phone with a question mark (i think thats what it was) and then reboots normally into the stock rom. It says its failing to installl the update package which im assuming is CW Recovery.

try repeating the steps again. and make sure that everything goes right along the way. the slightest error will make this a no go.
ill go back and re check everything. this worked for me 3 times over. gimme a sec. ill make this work. sorry for the inconvenience oh by the way. can anyone confirm that they have tried this on a mytouch that hasnt recieved the new ota update. this is the only phone i have tested it on. im not sure if it has anything to do with it.
Tried it about 6 times now. Even downloaded terminal to ensure i have root before carrying on. Its not letting the update.zip that Rom Manager installs on the SD card run at all. Its saying its not signed and then it fails?
Androot is only able to give us a temporary root, therefore the bootloader is still locked and it will not allow us to actually get into CW at all. Correct?

Read through the working root method here.
This method was developed by ChiefzReloaded, a dev we all know and love. He knows his stuff.
The one posted in this thread seems easier, but simply will not work.

What rom should i get for my friend?

Hi I'm an evo user and I'm helping a friend root and put a custom rom on his fascinate.
The one most popular, that i see, is super clean with voodoo kernel
But i also see there's some modem stuff and also cwm problems.
What requirements are there for the rom? And how would i go about checking that he full fills those requirements?
And what version on cwm should he flash and also if someone could link to the rom and best kernel for it
Thank you and sorry about the million questions.
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
Hi there,
When you help your friend, make sure he does all the Flashing and stuff, otherwise he will bug you if he gets any error. << Just Friendly suggestion.
About Superclean, you are absolutely right, it is one of the top choice for Fascinate users, if not the best.
BEFORE DOING ANY OF THESE STEPS, MAKE SURE TO BACK UP EVERYTHING. Contacts w/e u need after installing ROM.
Best Backup App is Titanium Back-Up. (It's 5bucs, but worth every penny)
This is my guide for those who have issues/errors with Fascinate, but can be used for the Rooting/Rom/Theme/Kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001064
Must Do before all the steps
1. Download and Install Samsung Drivers
64bit:
http://www.wikifilez.com/root file...alaxyS_x64.zip
or
32bit:
http://www.wikifilez.com/root file...Phones_x86.exe
2. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > Enable Debugging then plug in your phone
Step 1: Download Z4Root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
put it into sdcard, click "my files", then install it. After that, click Permanent Root. If its done, the Phone should reboot.
Step 2: Now you have successfully rooted your phone, you can Download CWM, but before you do that, you need Odin.
Download Odin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832827
Then Download CWM: I uploaded this link by myself, couldn't find decent one.
http://www.4shared.com/file/08yRO9cs/cwm-recovery-ALL.html
Step 3: To flash CWM, you have to turn your phone to "Download Mode"
It can be done simply by taking battery out and Holding down button + home key, then plug it to USB.
Step 4: Now you are ready to flash CWM. Open the Odin, if your phone is connected, the message box should say "Added!!" Then, you are good to go.
After that, click "PDA" and click the CWM.tar file and press Start.
Don't unplug until the message @ bottom shows up!
When the process is done the message box should say
" Removed!!
Completed..
All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)"
Step 5: When its done, put the battery back on. When it starts, it should go in to 2.5.1.x Red CWM. Its perfectly fine, now just click reboot now.
Volume Down > Down
Volume Up> Up
Menu > Back
Back Button > Forward
Step 6: Download SC Rom here:
I suggest NV, until he gets familiar with Fascinate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983395
Then put it into SD Card.
Step 7: Turn off your phone, then Start the Phone by pressing BOTH of Volume key > Power button.
It should take you back to CWM.
When you are in CWM
Wipe DATA/Cache
Wipe Dalvik (click Advance)
Step 8: Click "Install zip from SDCARD"
Then click the Archive you've saved the ROM.
Then Apply it, it might take a while to Copy files.
When its done, click "Reboot System Now"
Rebooting might take 2~5 mins or more.
Your phone is rooted/Rom'd
You can choose theme that is SuperClean friendly.
Let me know if there's any problem....
If this helped you.
Press THANKS button !!
The steps above absolutely will work, but theres an easier way. Look over at droidforums for the "eb01 odin package" thread... there are way less steps, and it will set you up with root, froyo, and whatever version of superclean you want, its like 3 steps, if you follow the directions you wont screw anything up.

Fixed. Thx for pointing out.
I got a couple of questions.. how do i 'open' Odin and can't i just flash cwm from rom manager? Or does that create problems? Why NV? I read that voodoo gives a lot more performance and that's what he really wants..
Btw are these steps for Linux? I only have windows

1. Odin is for .tar/.tar.md5 files.
You CWM is for Zip files. Nowadays, Developers use Zip. Ex:Theme/Kernel/ROM.
Then you can Flash JT's new EC10 Kernel(Got Sound << BEST, Color << someone said it would only work if the Brightness is 100%; no Auto Brightness, BLN << Can download via APP)
Refer to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010102
for further information.
2. You can Flash Voodoo ROM over NV. (Just Wipe DATA/caches/Dalvik).
When you flash Voodoo and restart, female voice will come up. Don't Panic, its suppose to come up, it might take while. Just wait.
3. Its for Windows.
If this helped you. Press Thx Button

Well before I would go and post a tutorial about this we need to address one thing.
You said

You understand that the default launcher in Cyanogenmod7 (CM7) is ADW correct? I just would hate for you to go through the touch n go process of flashing CM7 and end up hating it because of this
Well... you can switch away from ADW. For instance, I switched to the GO launcher, and it ran like a dream.
Alright, here's a n00b guide.
0)Download these files to you SD card: http://www.mediafire.com/?dfjjclddzq6fl5q, http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
1) Flash this in Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=657960&d=1310959789
2) Boot into recovery by turning off the phone/pulling battery and holding volume up, volume down and power at the same time
3) Select wipe cache, then select wipe data
4) Select install zip from sd card or something like that and flash CM7 (The file you downloaded from mediafire above)
5)Once phone finishes installing, hit reboot phone or if your phone is off turn it back on
6) Hold down power button, select reboot, select recovery
7) From here, select install zip from sd card again, and install the gapps from the second link.
8) Reboot, and enjoy. If you don't like adw, install GO launcher from the market

Install this on your computer: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?7946i8tdbe0yv50
Open Odin, remove your phone's battery, hold the "volume down" button on your phone while plugging it into your computer and a little android with a shovel should come up.
On your computer, download the file from step 1. In odin, click the PDA button (NOT THE PHONE BUTTON) and select that downloaded file. Hit start or flash or whatever the button like that says. It will take a while. Once done, you will have cwm, so do step 2.
Once in CWN, use the volume buttons to go up and down and use the power button as the "enter button". Follow the rest of the steps from there.
Also, GAPPS is just the technical name for that second file you downloaded. Install it through CWM exactly as the steps say.

Gapps...is abbreviated for google apps. Ie. Google talk, gmail, google voice, google chrome to phone, ect...this is a zip file package that contains a lot of googles apps that are not pre packaged into the rom
Odin is a software program for pc to push a modified recovery program or complete stock rom files, or patches and some other goodies and this recovery abbreviated cwm(clock work mod ) is the program you use to install custom roms and kernels. All odin file formats will end in .tar while files for flashing via recovery end in .zip

Just to let you know, you should probably read up on some more of the threads in the general and development section after you fix your phone before trying this again. You really need to know what you're doing or you'll break your phone for real next time.

While skafan is right, you probably won't completely bork your device but you can get in deep real quick if you screw up anything major...like flashing a rom not for the fascinate. Go to the link he posted and do it exactly to return to complete stock and then read read read before flashing again, but it is very hard to completely destroy our phones besides physically smashing it. His warning is of just cause....that said..everything I learned(and I'm sure some will agree with me) for the most part is out of necessity..meaning I started tinkering with my phone and learned what I had to as I made mistakes and needed to know how to get out of a boot loop or force closes. There were even a few times where I thought I just turned my fassy into an expensive paper weight! You'll get there and, if nothing else borking builds character!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
i followed those instructions to the letter, same result, success(0) failed (1)
this sucks
borking does not build character for me
it engenders a sense of helplessless and makes me cry

[GUIDE] To go from anything to Jt's Vanilla GB/ANY MTD ROM (FIXES most problems)

Back up everything, I'm not responsible for anything you do to your phone. These steps have helped everyone who has come to IRC. Just made a one stop guide.
You shouldn't need to post anything in this thread other than to mention if there is a broken link. If you want to thank me, thank the developers instead. They did all the real work. If you really feel like thanking me after that, you can thank me on IRC instead of making a post. I don't like runaway threads and clutter.
You will need these following files:
On computer:
Odin: http://goo.gl/JT9uU
Stock ED05: http://goo.gl/RC28q
Atlas_v2.2 PIT: http://goo.gl/Hktky
CWM4: http://goo.gl/7DmxF
EC09 Modem: http://goo.gl/v8FF7
GB Bootloaders: http://goo.gl/6aJ1N
Nexus S Drivers: http://goo.gl/2qpr (SDK download)
http://goo.gl/ZWGG (Explanation)
On SD card on your phone where you can find it:
Vgb version 7: http://kan.gd/xso
Latest Gapps: http://goo.gl/mVVso
STEP 1
A)BACKUP EVERYTHING, make a nandroid, back up stuff in Titanium Backup.
B)Install the Nexus S drivers. You will have to download the Android SDK in order to do so.
STEP 2
A)Start Odin.
B)Make sure Repartition is checked on the left.
C)Make sure atlas_v2.2.pit is in the PIT section
D)Make sure CI500_VZW_ED05_FROYO_REL.tar.md5 is in the PDA section with it checked off
STEP 3
Double check Step 2 and connect your phone into download mode and press start. (Download mode = take out battery, connect phone to computer using USB, hold down volume button and a yellow triangle symbol will pop up)
STEP 4
After it passes in Odin, boot up to stock.
STEP 5
A)Turn off phone and go back into download mode.
B)In Odin press reset and DESELECT repartition on the left.
C)Make sure cwm4_fixed_for_cm7-ODIN is in the PDA section
D)Press Start
STEP 6
Three finger (Volume up + Volume down + Power button) into recovery. If you let it boot up normally it will overwrite CWM and you will have to repeat STEP 5.
STEP 7
A)Wipe data, cache, dalvik
B)Install from SD, navigate to where you put full fascinatemtd ota eng.jt1134 0811 signed.zip (VGB version 6) and install.

C)Navigate to where you put gapps_update-2.3.5-gb-20110725-signed.zip on your sd card
E)Install then reboot system fully
STEP 11
You should now have Android Market
A)Download ROM manager from Market

Restore Apps+Data only from Titanium Backup. Deselect any Google Apps because you now have the latest 2.3.5 versions. DON'T RESTORE ANY ****ING SYSTEM SETTINGS.
STEP 15
Reboot
STEP 16
Profit
If you want to put on CM7 or MIUI, then substitute that ROM for vgb. MIUI doesn't need GAPPS.
If you want to flash a custom kernel such as Glitch and use Adrenaline Shot, reboot into recovery using the reboot menu. Wipe dalvik, flash kernel first, make sure it's for MTD ROMs and not EH09. Let it boot up all the way before rebooting back into recovery using the reboot menu. Then flash Adrenaline shot.
Glitch's kernel : http://goo.gl/DnGkT
dsexton702's Adrenaline Shot: http://goo.gl/NKJ4P
MAKE SURE YOU USE A UNIVERSAL ANDROID VERSION OF THE TWEAK
Thanks to Jt1134 for sharing his personal ROM and his continued efforts. Also the other devs, Team Hacksung, TeamSbrissenMod, people on IRC, and other people who have contributed and made our phone so damn sexy.
Honestly best written tutorial I have ever witnessed. Definitely helped me with this and on IRC. THANKS A LOT BRWNSUPERMAN!
So I did this with MIUI so do I have to install the latest kernel or can I still use glitch?
Even if you are on CM7 already and still have to do all of that..wow

This basically makes sure you won't have any problems. You can skip steps, but you better be damn sure of what you're doing.
Does flashing the GB bootloader remove the risk of frying the SD-card, or is there still a risk?
Other than that, thanks for the awesome guide!

It's helped most people. A battery pull also has been found to work.
Thanks for the guide! I got onto vGB without too much of a problem using this. I substituted v6 since it was out.

Really all you need is to flash a froyo package(the pit file is good if you are coming from one back to FRoyo but its really not needed) I just, 30 minutes ago, went from Miui by Froyo by just using the EB01 Froyo package (No Pit) and it worked fine.
To get back to MIUI I just odined the CWM tar booted up,went back to Recovery and flashed MIUI.
When you flash it the first time it does a quick flash then reboots and then goes into the "checking bml/mtd.' It can take awhile and looks like its doing nothing so make sure you give it some time. good luck
Oh and the OP instructions are great and very complete but like he said you can cut out parts of it so I don't want to sound like I'm knocking them, but sometime short and simple works better.
Have you tried the GB Odin package and flashing from there? I just noticed I had it on my PC and was wondering if it would work...seems like it should and may help get you past what ever it is that's stopping you.
I got it FINALLY. Now on MIUI, I installed a new SD card and got it to work. MY main problem was the fact with my previous Sd card, I didn't wipe it or in particular, I suspect the old update.zip was the problem.
I followed this to a "T" as well to go to MIUI from bare-bones stock ED05 package....and it still doesn't see my brand new SD card!!! It sees an old 2GB FAT sd card just fine in MIUI, but no go for my 16GB FAT32 card. Its so weird, b/c the stock ED05 (tw based) OS sees my 16GB all day...even CWR 4.x.x.x saw it until after you flash the MIUI rom.
Please advise. Thanks!!!

Have you guys formatted the cards with sd formatter or tried a battery pull?
I have very limited experience w/ MIUI. You'd get better help from that thread.
Great guide btw but im having a little bit of trouble and cant figure out what to do.
After putting the cwm4 file in the pda slot after hitting reset. I then press start but it is failing with an error: cant open the specified line 1455
any ideas?
Edit: I got it figured out. Seriously amazing guide. The only thing i might say that i had a problem with, is the first time you say to click reset in odin, it still leaves the re-partition box checked. And my Cwm4 wouldnt install with it checked. I did some googling and a couple people has success just by unchecking it and so did I. After that whenever you said reset odin, i just closed the app and repopened it so it was a fresh open with nothing checked.
Also towards the bottom my connection icon was white even through toggling airplane i had to open the market first, once again could be just me.\
Other than that.... everything was spot on, great job!

Thanks, updated it. I was meaning to do it earlier, usually Odin just skips the repartition if there is no pit file in place. Didn't know it caused problems, but it got me off my lazy ass.
Wow!
Only did step 2, the phone close and there is no power at all now!
Totally bricked!
Ooops! I did the jig trick and it come back! I was a little bit afraid!
The only problem I have is the home button and reverse button are switched.
And the volume down is not working too, I'm sure it is because I have a fascinate, any patch for this?
Thanks
And I lost the unlock function on my phone, are you able to tell me how to unlock it again?
I may be wrong, but I think V7 for JT's Vanilla GB is up on Rootzwiki dated 8/29?

don't take offense to this, but I think if you're asking questions like this about a pre-alpha, you might just want to hold off. Or just use on of the Kangs and flash with CWM.

I installed CM9 ([ROM][GT-P7500] CM9 KANG (ICS Preview) ) on my Galaxy Tab P7500 just yesterday evening, and so far I'm REALLY impressed by the performance and functionality.
I had some problems during the process and I thought I could share my experiences with you and give a short briefing on how to flash this stuff.
SHORT REVIEW
The ROM is superb. Even though it's half way there with some unimplemented things, the speed of the browser, the font rendering and overall look&feel make it impossible to return to honeycomb.
TESTED WORKING
1) OS in general
2) 3G, WIFI
KNOWN NOT TO WORK
1) Camera does not start
2) Some Trebuchet(CM9 launcher) menus in the settings not yet implemented
3) Screen rotation animations start with a blank screen
WHAT I DID
I started with rooted 3.2 Stock ROM and a battery 75% charged. I don't think rooting the tab beforehand is necessary, as you're going to overwrite the bootloader with CWM anyway.
1) I used Odin 1.85 and flashed Clockwork Recover Mod from Droidbasement, they even have the Stock IO recovery available there too!
- You need to power down the tablet, power it back up and hold both power and volume down buttons when the "samsung galaxy tab 10.1" logo comes visible
- Press volume up button to choose "Download mode"
- Start Odin on your computer, and select the Clockwork mod recovery file in the "bootloader" field
- Connect the tablet using the USB cable, Odin should recognize the device
- Press "Start" to begin the download
2) I transferred the four files listed in mabalito's thread to my tablets storage root folder
3) I booted the tablet to recovery mode
- (Power down, power up)
- Press volume down and power simultaneously when "galaxy tab 10.1" is visible
- Select recovery mode by first pressing power down, the pressing power up
- Select Wipe dalvik cache from advanced menu
- Select factory data wipe from the main menu
- Select apply update from sdcard
- Select apply update from .zip, repeat this step for files 1) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-020712-maba, 2) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-012912-maba-kernel-modules 3) Gapps 4) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-maba-voicesearch-fix
4) Reboot the tablet, you should see the CM9/ICS bootscreen (it hung quite long there for me for some reason, and I got a bit worried, 15mins waiting just did the trick)
5) Enjoy! The ROM is awesome!

not sure why people aren't giving you a direct answer but here:
you don't need the recovery.img for that to work...i just tried it.
all you need to do is to go into the update.script in the zip file, and remove the line that says "get assert" or something like that with notepad...save....put back in the zip file (you may need to first unzip it for it to work....then re-zip it again.)
hope this is apples for you!
