I have a sony xperia x10i model. i had android 1.6 recently i have updated it using the official firmware..

As is, you can not root your tablet. However, you might want to take a look at stifilz's thread regarding a file that may (or may not) get you downgraded to a rootable US version of 3.2.1 which can be upgraded to a rooted version of 4.0.3 or 4.0.3r1a. After rooting, you can changed it to an India version. I'm guessing; you should discuss the post with stifilz.
