I am an android user myself on htc desire. Friend of mine gave me dell streak and asked if I would be able to load rom with polish language. Is something like that available? I can't seems to find one. Also the phone is supposedly factory unlocked but it used to be on uk O2. If I root the phone, could I lose the unlock? I have done root on my desire but my was never locked so I'm not sure. Last question what is the status of rooting on streak? Can it be done on froyo?
Thank for any answers.

Hi,
I am using Streak 5 imported from UK with Android 2.2.2 version and it does have Polish language, the only problem is lack of Polish letters on the virtual keyboard - they appear on the screen when I get SMS, or type them in to the phone book using my PC connected, but I have not found the possibility to input them directly on the phone. My one is unlocked, I have not tried Gingerbread yet, so I do not know if it has Polish, from Polish forum I just found out the korean release has only 2 options - Korean or English.
Being an English speaker/writer I have not had occasion to use other languages, but I do see that some replacement keyboards do offer other languages.
Doing a search in the Android market turned up this keyboard.

Hi,
Wonder if any experts here can help me. I have just received a new HTC Hero (T Mobile UK G2 Touch). Unfortunately it appears to be running a somewhat crippled version of the languages. My wife is Italian and frequently texts in Italian but unfortunately there is no Italian language support, only English, Dutch and Czech which seems strange.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to download or unlock Italian without rooting the phone? Would predictive text work and would I only be able to change the text language and not the whole phone language?
thanks in advance for any help
cheers
Try to download MoreLocale2 from Market
thanks it seems to work on the evo 4g aswell
Please excuse my ignorance, but I am completely new to Android.
I've just bought the wife a new HTC Wildfire from Tesco. I now need to do two things: -
Add Thai fonts
Unlock it from the tesco network
I've downloaded the Anysoft keyboard from the Android market but it doesn't work properly bcse the Thai fonts are not present on the handset. It appears that I need root access to the handset to install them.
I also need to unlock the phone so that wifey can use her Thai sim card in the handset when she is in Thailand.
I've heard of an app called unrEVOked3 - would this enable me to do both of the above and is it simple and easy enough to use?
If I can use unrEVOked3, can I ever reset the handset back to it's original condition if it needs to be returned to Tesco for any reason, or does the use of the software permanently chnage the phone and completely invalidate my guarantee?
For the font question it would be best to ask in the Wildfire forum, but for unlock you can use this site http://www.unlock-now.com/
or if you google for more, you will find plenty
I did some searching around the web and haven't been able to find a way to get UK English on my Vibrant. I did notice while playing with my store's demo Nexus S device that it supports the language by default (as well as several others), so my question:
Would it be possible to grab the UK English language from a Nexus S system dump and "import" it to my Vibrant (if so, how do I do it)? Or is it just a feature in Gingerbread that I'll have to wait for a proper port to get?
Thanks.
So, am I just SOL until I get a full 2.3 ROM?
Probably so. When you buy a U.S. Market phone these things happen...
Hello Guys!
Been a while since I last been around xda or android so therefore I have a question!
I bought a HTC Flyer in the US, at Bestbuy. Now I'm from Denmark and therefore I would like it on Danish. I got the keyboard on Danish and I can ofc live with English language, however I would like to give it the last 1% toward the 100 of a perfect tablet experience.
I can't choose Danish under the language selection, so is there a way to get Danish. Maybe by getting the EU Version of Android 2.3.3? By rooting or shall I just give up, because it's now possible?
On forehand, thanks
I have the exact same problem with my HTC Flyer. I am Greek but Greek language is nowhere to be found in it. Even my Samsung Galaxy S (which still runs on android 2.2) has Greek!
I contacted HTC support and they told me to look at the Market for an add-on!! I specificaly asked the following question:" Do you mean Greek Keyboard OR Greek system menus? Because i do have a Greek Keyboard." The answear was "Greek system menus". I then searched the Market but i did't find any such app or add-on. Didn't contact HTC support again.
Get morelocale2 from android market
Can change system UI language

Cheers mate! Works out for me, found Danish and it just works!
- Try it out SpartanWarrior, Greek is there too!
Thanks, did the trick for me Portuguese
I have currently installed Smart Keyboard Pro and have the English and Arabic languages enabled for this keyboard. When I type in Arabic the words are disconnected. For example when I mean to type something like this مرحبا it comes out like this م رح ب ا all the letters are disconnected.
Is there a solution for this? My Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc supports the Arabic language correctly I was hoping this would as well. Also if it matters I am using the GSM Rogers version.
Thank you for your help.
Here in middle east, the rom is modified to be compatible with Arabic and Persian. You may want to find and download the middle eastern rom. That works perfectly fine for me.
Why couldn't Motorola just give us an option? That is pretty stupid of them. Is there any file or application I can use to give me the same functionality? I don't want a to put a new rom on my phone just yet.
Motorola doesn't give a f*ck about localization in android. We as Turkish have the exact problem when it comes to native language support. I even started a thread in official motorola supportforums, their moderators just ignored our concerns and didn't even care to give an answer.

The thing that I find strange is that they can clearly do it if its available in the Middle-eastern regions. Why not just put the option in the other models as well.
I heard android 4.0 has native support for Arabic and other RTL languages, Could it be supported then?
I just bought the Rogers RAZR and now I'm debating grabbing the Galaxy Nexus instead.
Easy
Root your razr and get the arabic room by recovery
