[Q] Can't creat nandroid backup? - Optimus One, P500, V General

For some reason no matter how many times I try or how full my battery is... I can't seem to create a nandroid backup, funny thing is... I CAN create and restore the stock rom image, however, it will not work AT ALL for the Megatron rom... The error that I receive is "Error: run "nandroid-mobile.sh" via adb."
Any ideas?

Are you trying to backup ext also?

D'oh! Does that not work? Lol.

Some people report problems with backing up ext with the 1st version of the recovery, try the latest version of the recovery.

[Q] Leaked JI4 ROM Nandroid restore problem...

Currenently running leaked JI4 ROM. Created backup thru Nandroid. System backed up. Data backed up. Then received a message that was something like "can't find sd, skipping sd". The backup completed and reboot was fine.
Heres my question... When i go to restore this backup, am i going to have any problems. I think I had a similar issue with the JI2 ROM. Restored nandroid of JI2 and it hung on vibrant screen. So I ended up restoring a bionix 1.3 backup I had and it booted fine. Do I need to take extra steps to create a "stock" nandroid backup of the JI4 ROM? Do I need to flash a Stock kernel along with the nand backup? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
ps- if you need any clarity on the situation, please ask. i'll try to clarify better!

[Q] Clockwork and recovery

2nd question in as many days...can you tell im new at this?
So I tried to get fancy and change keypad colors and bit off more than I could chew. My phone is messed up. I did however backup before I started playing with anything using Clockwork. The problem I am having is I have never actually restored a backup from the recovery menu. the only time I have done it was when I did it from the actual app. I can mount my phone in recovery (via USB-MS toggle) and see on the SD card that the backups I made are there...So how the heck do I load them up? Thanks in advance!
To use a backup using clockwork, go to the backup, restore in the recovery menu and click restore. it will then ask if you are sure, click yes and you should be good.

That is what I thought. however when I boot in recover and go to "Backup/Restore" my only options are...
-Nand backup
-Nand + ext backup
-Nand restore
-BART backup
-BART restore
..and none of those have my backup.
I was able to fix my problem though. i just flashed another rom, re-downloaded the app and installed my backup from there. I still cant figure out why I cant do it from recover =/ Oh well
You would go to nand restore, then there would be only one option with some letters and numbers so click that and your back up is there. The name will probably be a date unless you changed the name

That's probably Amon RA, which only puts and looks for Nands in one place, and Clockwork Mod puts them another.
To get into Clockwork Mod from Amon RA, use Amon RA to flash the file "update.zip", which ROM Manager put in the root of your SD card. This doesn't overwrite anything. This is what "loads" Clockwork Mod, now you can access the Clockwork Mod Nand backups. Cheers!

[Q] CWM fails to restore backup

Hello all.
I had Litening ROM 4.2 installed on my SGS2, then I wanted to try Cyanogen Mod, and first made backup with CWM. Now when I try to restore backup, it restores it, but when I boot phone, everything is messed up, apps that I installed dont work, etc... It even shows me that first-time screen, to set up connections, time etc. Can anyone give me some hints what am I doing wrong please ? Thanks.
I even tried to install Litening ROM from scratch, deleted cache & davlik cache, and installed it with Odin, but when I try to install any application, after install it works fine for couple seconds then it shows me error and that "force close" dialog... And it happens with every app I try to install.
I have also tried to install Frankesteins Stock ROM that I found here, then install Litening ROM, but got same errors again...
Same problem here. After a restore, I get the first time screen. No apps, no data, default settings. Please help!
This just happened to me as well.....
Version of can? There's deffo something odd with some of the cwm versions going about. Also I notice that v5 doesn't like yo restore v4 backups. And vice versa

Backup created with ver 4.x.
Both ver 5.x & 4.x failed to restore system data. Tried installing ROM and wiping everything, reflashing CWM, but still the same problem.....
CWM4 and CWM5 use different formats for the backups. That's why backups of those are not interchangable, you have to restore with the CWM you made the backup with.
Also, don't change the dir names of the backups, I did it once and the backup woudln't restore anymore, changed name back to original one and it worked again.
The OP also sounds like only the /system partition was restored for some reason.
Try a clean format of /system, /data and /cache before the restore.
Were apps installed to sdcard?
Just to be sure, you can try advanced restore, and restore *.img one by one.
Just posting to point out that it seems to have affected me too. I made a backup, but restoring just restores the ROM without my data.

thanx man thats my problem
CWM is great for restoring the actual rom. But I have found with a large app load (I have 3-400 at any given point) it struggles.
Reconfiguring is common place, personally I use CWM for roms and titanium for apps these days.
You can coax CWM by restoring bits at a time rebooting then doing the next piece.

Stuck on splash screen. Have a full backup

Hi
Tried to find a similar thread but failed so I ask here.
I have a 10.1 Wifii & 3G
Did a full backup with Rom manager before doing anything.
Upgraded to overcome ROM 2.
Realized that there was no Swedish language in the ROM, so I decided to go back to the backed up ROM instead.
When I choose Restore in the Rom manager menu, my restore is there and it looks like it is working. It reboots, it checks the files, applies all img and other files, BUT. When it's done it just sits there on the Overcome CwM Recover v5.1.2.6. It feels like it never gets done? I also tried to do a restore from inside the nandroid menu but same thing. I also tried to wipe several time, but same thing. If I try to reboot the 10.1, it gets stuck on the splash screen.
SO, my question.
I really want to keep my data on the sdcard...
Scared of doing the restock on teamovercome homepage because it says
-"IT WILL ALSO WIPE OUT YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE!"
Is there any tips anyone can give me. Is this because my old ROM had different(older) boot files or something?
Please help
Lasse
Try installing CWM 4.0.0.4 using Odin and restore the backup and see if it works.
A small advice: Don't use ROM Manager for creating backups and restoring. Always do from the CWM directly. ROM Manager usually messes up the things

You can use the paid version of Titanium Backup.
It can restore individual apps+data from CWM backups

[Q] Old Clockwork Backup

I have a couple of nandroid backups from an older version of clockwork recovery mod. The first one is of the official Android 2.1 that came with my Hauawei U8100, and the rest are from a Cynogen ROM of Android 2.3. I recently updated my clockwork recovery mod, and now i can only restore the first backup fully, and the rest can only restore the ROM, but give me a "android_secure.img not found" error, and don't restore data. Is there a way to update the backup to the new version? Is the version upgrade even the problem?

No, there is no way to "update" the backup to make it compatible. Yes, updating CWM recovery can cause errors when dealing with backups done by older versions.
I see. I've tryed reverting to ClockworkMod 2.1.5.8, but i'm getting a simmelar error. Did upgrading clockwork break them?

Upgrading the recovery does not affect the backup in anyway. Maybe there was some form of corruption when the backup was done. Is the android_secure.img in the backup folder?
No, it has boot, cache, data, recovery, system
EDIT: That's what all of the backup folders have, and some work and some don't.

Well that explains the error. You could do an advanced restore (restore everything except for the android_secure.img). If you do this, apps which you moved to the sd card will not work.
But why didn't clockwork make them? Did version 2 not use those files? and why do the older backups work anyway?

As I said, there could have been an error. No, version 2.x.x.x did use those files. Maybe you didn't have apps moved to the sd card for the previous backups.
