I was wondering if ianyone has any idea which files we might need to extract from a Desire ROM to replace the auto-brightness code in Nexus ROMs?
I've noticed that it seems to work much better on the Modaco Desire ROM, with a higher base level of brightness and more consistent reaction to the ambient light level.
Wow, thats awesome.
Anybody an idea, where to find?
The script on Nexus is...****ty.
It has automatic brightness, but it's useless on this phone for now.
Thats right i don't even use it as it doesn't work as it should
It will be grate if some one could work it out.
Plus one on that. We need to combine all the best things from both devices to create one super rom...we shall then call it "Super ROM".
I was just discussing this with my brother, a steady 50% level of brightness looks better then the auto feature on the phone.
He just got his and I told him to shut it off its looks horrible, the green look so fake unless the brightness is on 55% steady and up
I do agree with this: the Desire ROM is pretty damn consistent with the auto brightness.

I didnt even bother checking for the auto-brightness on this ROM. I cant believe it works. Thanks OP
+1 on this! I figured I wasn't the only one.
would be cool if it's possible, but i am not sure if it will work?
+$10 LOL
I know how to extract it. I'll have a look at try it out on my N1.
Just use the desire rom. Why do some people not like it? I love it.

Thirded (is that a word?)
I tried the Desire ROM some days ago, and the screen seemed brighter than the default Nexus ROM (both at max brightness). Anyone noticed that ?
While we are on the subject of extracting things.... how about extracting the HTC Music app to be used on Cyanogen....

the HTC stuff can't be
i am fine with the stock auto brightness.....
But I agree that it would be better if the base brightness is higher.

The above screen shows the twirling finger rings. It is very irritating when you look through post office or browse the Internet
But when i put cm-7.1-kernel-2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111.zip everthing is ok. (screenshot2 from attachments)
This is cm-7.1-kernel-2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111.zip: nothing problem with touchscreen
(screenshot3 from attachments))
But when i use OC kernel : i have very big problem witch touchscreen

I know it's not the most helpful response, but there really isn't a good solution. If you choose to overclock the phone there is a price to pay. Your price unfortunately, is touch screen issues. Others have stability issues and others cannot o/c at all. Personally I think the only reason to use an o/c kernel on the Ace is for the scheduler choices.

Look man,OC is not a thing to play with,in your case it was touchscreen issues, others have other problems.Dont use oc in my opinion
Hey @icemanhi...
Firstly, your english is fine... I can understand you & I'm sure others can too...
Now, lots of people saying "Don't do it" but nobody offers help... Come on guys, give @icemanhi a break... @Prawesome is correct though to a degree... OC'ing is not for everyone but with a little care & patience, you can achieve some significant performance gains...
@icemanhi... There are a couple of things that you can try that may correct this touch screen issue that you have got. It is possible that when you flash @ketut's OC kernel, it corrupts your screen variables or changes them to un-usable values. If you search the SGA development forum you will find several scripts that enhance & tweak your touch screen (response, sensitivity etc)... some of them are flashable via CWM (clockwork Mod manager), some of them you must manually place the script in the correct location within your phone...
I suggest you try one of the flashable versions unless you are savvy to file placement & permission setting...
Flashing the screen Mod will re-callibrate your screen to the new improved variable settings, hopefully correcting any corruption that was left from flashing @ketuts kernel...
Please remember though, that I am not providing a cure, I am just suggesting a method that in theory should do the trick. I can not say I have tried this as I have experienced no problems at all using Ice cream sunday2 by @jusada... On the other hand, I have used the touchscreen tweaks (I am using them now) & they work wonderfully... I barely have to brush my screen & I get a response...hehe
Check below my signature for my Rom & setup...

Peace...
Purchased HD games and can't play them, want better performance and good battery life. What is the best KERNEL/ROM overall? (please leave noob definition for me to better understand Kernels/Roms) I appreciate the assistance and patience.

Which games specifically?
I doubt a custom kernel would make much of a difference.

Well, Shadowgun would have to be the worst. Can barely move. And I was under the impression that with a custom kernel, I could make better use of CPUSettings and then get better performance.

Is the game lagging or is just that you can't control it?
It may be a multi touch issue.

Well, I don't know if you've every played it, but when I try to move forward, the control buttons like randomly act like I lifted or moved my finger when I didn't. So I'll be going forward, than the controls move to a differant part of the screen or in a different direction as if I had was clicking there aswell. So I guess a multitouch issue.

Yeah I had that problem before.
On stock sense, that happened if I used a third party lock screen.
It also happened on cm9.

Exactly. that's why I asked what ROM he was running. Multi-touch can get wonky sometimes on the current AOSP builds. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31601700&postcount=342

Hello all, I am an owner of the LG Thrive (p506), and was wondering if anybody had seen or heard of a fix for multi-touch.
Perfect example here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHVSBDPWhQs
I believe its due to the phone only being made for pinch to zoom but surely there must be a way to fix this. Any help is appreciated.
Some kernels have a fix for this, but it only works if you cross your fingers slowly. If you slide your fingers too quickly the fix won't work, at least from what I've seen.
I don't think any of the newer kernels has a fix. Try digging up some of the older ones (go to the roms and kernels sticky in Android development for a list) and look for one with the fix.

I would assume such a glaring bug (it makes gaming nearly impossible) would have a little bit more work behind fixing it. If I could get a p500 kernel with the axis touchscreen bug fixes then maybe I could port it to p506. I know the novatek screen that the thrive has is problematic because no other phone seems to use it so the coding likely hasn't been done, but I suppose I will begin the research and try to fix it myself.

I use this, best multitouch fix for me.:good:
This is definitely the best ROM I've tried in terms of performance, the best two features in my opinion are the battery and its smoothness.
I don't know if I can share this link without the permission of the Dev but it's so good that I feel more people should know about it.
Congratulations to the developer!

Thank you, I'll give it a try then, even if I'm very happy with my JDCTeam rom. Is any firmware flash needed before install?
One more:
I was on Nougat already so I didn't flash any firmware but you could flash the latest recommended one to be on the safe side.
Hope you like it!

I kept the 7.6.18 firmware I had and it seems ok with this rom. I'm sorry to bother you, but I can't find any root for this device, there's no option to enable it, is this rooted? Also home button on lock screen isn't working, I mean, if I soft touch it nothing happens, hopefully there's some setting to enable it, but couldn't find it.
EDIT: also scrolling thru apps it's kinda laggy, ie Facebook, Instagram, Gmail...

I'm really surprised that yours is laggy, maybe flash the latest firmware 7.8.16.
Also I can wake the phone from the lock screen using the fingerprint sensor!

Yeah, sorry, I have that firmware, I wrote the numbers in the wrong order... I made a clean install, so I don't know why it's laggy. I don't use fingerprint, so I can't unlock the screen without press power button or double tap, which I don't like since I'm used to unlock with soft touch of home button and no fingerprint.. I'll try it for a bit, but without root and these things I don't think I'll keep this one on my phone. Thank you anyway for your replies.

OK, I understand.
For me this ROM gives me the best battery life, I play Clash Royale every day and I feel I get the best performance and battery with this rom. I've tried JDCTeam and I got worse battery.
Anyway, we are lucky to have such a variety of roms to choose from!

For sure, having a lot of roms let's you decide which one to pick up according to your own needs and we're lucky with mi5!
I'd like to have a slight better battery too on JDCTeam rom, but it's has just what I need in other terms, so I think I'll stick with it, even if this rom has also the nice split screen feature which I don't think it's available on JDCTeam..
