For anyone using 11-pin connector... - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android General

I have a Sprint Rhod400 (CDMA w/ 3.5mm jack which does not work yet) and got an 11-pin adapter that has a 3.5mm jack in it...audio works great but I've noticed that when I unplug the adapter my phone becomes very sluggish to the point I have to reboot the phone to fix it...CPU cycles are very high even if I force close all running programs...
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to troubleshoot?

i have an rhod-100 so i only have an 11pin connecter with 3.5mm inside it aswell. i agree with the sluggish but after i just click the advanced task manager (free) widget on mah homescreen its fast again with no probs.

Can you check top or something similar to see what is pegging the processor?
I have the 11-pin connector, but haven't used it in ages.

What do you mean by top? You just mean a program that can check running processes etc? I'll check it out...I'd be nice to squash this and not have to use a task killer all the time...

top, as in the linux-standard for checking proc utilization...?
Much more granular than any app that you can run on the phone...

Top is an app that shows the CPU usage of every process on a Linux system. It's built in to nearly all Linux distributions, including every Android installation I have ever used.
It's accessible by running "top" when within an ADB shell. If you've never used ADB before, I'm not sure what the best HOWTO is for it. http://sites.google.com/site/androidsamurai/Home/adb-for-dummies-1 is one, but I can't speak as to the actual quality of that document. I learned my adb-fu a while ago from NookDevs.

Thanks...I've been using ADB to provide logcats but had never dug deeper...I'll check it out...

I do not have any sluggish issues with the min-usb (11-pin) adapter with the 3.5mm plugin. I have a Rhod400.
The only issue I have is once I open Pandora or Slacker Radio or any other audio streaming app, the phone will not go to sleep until I reboot Android. Something with any kind of audio streaming app that causes this. I see that everytime I open any radio streaming app the music player starts running, and also Winamp (that I downloaded) opens up. I have deleted Winamp to see if that was the problem, and it wasn't, I kill all the apps running that aren't normally running and still no dice.
So that is the only issue I have. If that little bug was fixed that would be great. Being that it is multiple streaming music apps causing it, I don't think it is a rogue app problem. It seems more like a kernel issue.

I have the same issue. No sluggishness just after using Pandora or any music player, the phone wont sleep. I wonder if there is a way to make it sleep without having to reboot?

Just tried with Pandora, and the phone sleeps fine after using it.
Obviously I stopped Pandora from playing and put the phone to sleep - you're not thinking it's supposed to sleep while the app is running, do you?
Mind you, I also tried this with just the speakerphone - don't have my extUSB plug with me.

Correct, the phone will sleep fine using the speakerphone. It won't sleep however, when you use the extUSB.

Ah. Well, I'd say kernel is the culprit. Do you guys see wakelocks in your dmesg...? Curious as to what is killing sleep.

Hmm, I haven't tried audio in a while, but I am seeing a variety of pretty bad behavior around using the extUSB audio jack. In the past, it worked fine without any of these issues.
First time I did it, and unplugged, my phone became slow as molasses like the old system server days, so slow that it wouldn't even be detected by my computer so I could ADB in. I pulled up OSMonitor but nothing seemed to be pegging the CPU. While I continued to mess around with plugging it in and unplugging it to get it to detect, it reboot to Windows.
Second time I tried, I started connected to my computer. I played a song and then disconnected the extUSB. Everything seemed normal, and the speed wasn't slow. I slept it, and got a solid green light, which was in fact an instant sleep of death. I tried to wake it after only a second or two, but it was completely unresponsive.
I'm on WisTilt2's test kernel, on GRX, and am overclocked.

I am running the Wistilt2 3/1 kernel right now that I think has that stuff turned off in it. I have actually never dumped dmesgs before, so I am not sure how to do it anyway. I am willing to switch my kernels out with the autobuild kernel to get a dmesg dump when I get to work tomorrow (where my USB adapter is). I just need to figure out how to do a dump. I will search around unless you can tell me how.

Start an ADB shell and type "dmesg". I guess to save it, you could try:

The only thing that is disabled in WisTilt2's kernel is historical logs - so if you reboot to WinMo, or get an SoD and have to soft-reset... there will be no historical record of the log.
You can, of course, get logs from a running system using the directions above .

Eh, I'm certainly not an expert to determine what the issue is. I might be able to see the problem in the logs, but what the actual problem is and how to resolve it? Above my pay grade .
You can certainly pull logs from this incident, it wouldn't hurt. I seem to keep forgetting to look for my extUSB plug, so I haven't been able to test this... I need to do that.
On a fresh boot would be best.
You guys still haven't told me what process is pegging the processor as well...? Need moar info! I believe ACL committed the extUSB fix, but until I have more info I'm not even going to mention it to him .

Ok I did some research and supposedly I have to download and install Android SDK on my computer to get ADB shell etc..., but then aren't I doing the commands on the computer with the phone connected? If that is the case how am I going to troubleshoot the dmesg if I can't connect the USB adapter to get the problem to show up. I realize I can just disconnect the Adapter and then connect the phone to the computer to do a shell, but is the phone even going to try to sleep hooked up to the computer?
As you can see I am noob when it comes to any of this developer thing. I am a tech genius when it comes to normal windows, computer software and hardware stuff but when it comes to Linux, programming etc... I have not the first clue.
Is there a way to get a cmd prompt on the phone where I can do this command without having to hook it up to my computer?

Yes. Dev Tools -> Terminal Emulator.
ConnectBot also works great, and you can connect to the local root shell. You can put the files on your SD card, but with adb you can dump the logs straight to your computer.
To dump logs to your SD:
Code:
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
Will dump the log to the root of your SD card.
It's much, much easier if you're using adb. If you use Windows, there's no need to get the entire SDK - just download Droid Explorer. Makes it very easy to get adb working.
With that said, Linux is also computer software and is very valuable to know. I've used Ubuntu for ages, and I love it.
Tech genius is a pretty lofty title FYI .

Radio: No Signal

My installation has been working fine and I even managed to increase battery life by installing "Juice".
Suddenly, about 3 days ago I noticed the phone was saying no signal. I was clearly getting data, as my apps worked and I was getting eMail alerts and downloads, but no calls.
I tried restarts, but to no avail. I am using Rod_100 UK as I am on Vodafone UK... I assume it is correct, certainly worked for the past month.
I have had to revert back to Windows Mobile.
My immediate thoughts are it is Juice that is causing it. I have just logged back in to my XDAndroid to write this and Juice did not load, and guess what, the signal has come back.......
Just in case is there anything else to look for?
Never heard of "Juice". I have heard of JuiceDefender however...
If you don't have the issue on a clean install, I'd say that app (or one of many I'm assuming you have installed) is the culprit. Rename your data.img and boot, see what happens.
Yes, it is JuiceDefender, apologies for the abbreviation.
I un-installed it and I have network again, but I guess I will loose battery longevity again, not that it made a huge difference.
I'll keep my eye on it....
Still no improvement
No, still not working. I get no signal, when I am in eye shot of a mast and on WM I get a full signal. I am booting in to WM to a deluge of SMS messages that I had not received, mostly vMail notifications, to which the messages are from calls that I did not receive.
The radio is not as strong and keeps dying on me requiring a reboot
I dont know what exactly but some program is giving android problems

All I can say is do the standard mess.
Make sure you're up to date.*
Delete (move, rename) data.img.
Format SD. Full format. HP tool.
*There's a lot of testing stuff flying around right now too, making that difficult admittedly. Hopefully the auto-build service will return soon, and all the madness will get committed soon!

My gut feeling is it is something to do with "JuiceDefender".

Well I took it literally, as I have no idea, sorry. I'll put it back... Anyway, I have another problem now anyway. Having made the change it will not boot. The startup file
Sorry, ignore me.
After the change, I double clicked the Android shortcut to launch Android, but it would not start, so I assumed the file had to be executable (as it was the only item I had changed)... I had forgotten to disconnect my TP2 from my laptop!
I've done so now and it has launched. A stupid user errorhttp://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I'll keep you posted on any changes.
Ha, fair enough. Enjoy.
Solved. Keep loosing Radio
OK. I tried all the above. Delete data.img, and check the startup script/cmd.... none worked. At some point I would loose the network connection.
As it started within days of loading JuiceDefender and its components and from the description of how it works - controls the running apps including radio and data transfer, I always suspected it to be the root cause. After the other checks failed I tried removing all Juice Defender apps and since then c30hrs I have not experienced any loss of communication.
Thanks everyone for your help, and I hope this will be of use to anyone else suffering from loosing radio/ signal.

It has been a number of days now and I have not experienced the same issue, so my conclusion is that it is the JuiceDefender that caused the problem.
The down side now is that I get 7am to 4pm battery life as opposed to 7am to 7pm.... But atleast I can receive and make calls!
A note: The signal strength on the project image is not as strong as the WM6.5, but I am sure that is a known issue.

Hrm, didn't realize that app would help out that much. But, it makes sense if it's turning off all your radios lol.
Anyhoo, have you seen the kernel I posted from WisTilt2? It has full panel collapse, and battery life is astounding with it.
Code has yet to be committed, as he still has some work to do for the AUO panels (select RHOD100's basically) - so unless you have one of those you can reap the benefits of his new code .
(bzo got nearly 65 hrs with the radio on, sync off - 100% sleep.)
Looks interesting, but where do I download the latest version... I don't plan reading all the threads! And IF I installed would I loose all my settings and apps?
Update
It has been a while since I did all this tinkering, during which time there has been an update.
What I find I get is sometimes (c every couple of days) the meter says I have signal but nothing connects with a message "no network". Also, but far more frequent, as with today where it has occurred 3 times, I dial a number and nothing happens. It says ringing but there is no ring tone and it never seems to connect. I then shut the call down either by using the hang up button or the soft hang up key. The screen then changes to "Hanging Up" but again sits there indefinitely. The only solution id to do a restart.....
Any ideas?
PS: any news on when the bluetooth and camera will be working...?
I have found that any app that acts as a task killer of any sort (juice defender must in someway stop apps to save battery) can also kill your connection. I found this out while using xdandroid and it became immiediately clear when I stopped using the task killer my bars and data proved to be more consistant! Hope that helps.

[USER][CM7] Bluetooth tips and tricks...and questions

Hope I'm not duplicating anything, but there seems to be a lot of BT related questions and none answered in one unified place. Also I think the BT Dev thread should be left to the devs (to keep it easier for them to work on things, rather than help us mere mortals ).
This applies to CM7 (latest nightlies, Tablet Tweak RCs) ONLY (as far as I know).
So, if bluetooth does not turn on, there a few things that you can try.
Do a HARD reset (that is, hold down the power button until the NookColor turns off, then start it back up.
Fix Permissions in ClockworkRecovery:
Boot into CWR (w/SD, load it in. With CWR installed on eMMC, go to ROM Manager > Reboot into Recovery. Alternatively, hold down the power plus "N" button for ~8 seconds (from a shutdown NookColor).
Try both!
An interesting thing to note is some users (myself included) can only start up bluetooth within a pretty short window of time after the NC has booted up. Not sure why timing is important, but could be a factor for those who cannot start up BT after some given time of operation.
I found this tip that may work after a fresh (read: wipe system/data) install, but may also work after flashing a nightly over a nightly.
If you're ready to turn on Bluetooth, there's a trick. If you don't do this, Bluetooth will just refuse to turn on / be enabled.
Turn off wifi (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi)
Reboot
Turn on Bluetooth (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth)
Turn on wifi
It seems a bit odd, but that's what you have to do. From then on out it'll work fine.

For a list and description of devices that work with the NC, check this out:
Known functional Bluetooth devices
For tethering data via BT, try android-wifi-tether. While it can be used to create an access point on your phone via wifi, you can also opt to use BT to create the tether. This works well in conjunction with TetherGPS which I use to provide GPS info to the NC from my G1 while using CoPilot Live to show navigation (I don't have data on the G1).

Tried that previously and it did not work for me.
In other words, it works as with all the kernels I've tried (your OC'd and stock kernel): it will start up if I start is quickly, but otherwise not.

me too. I went back to 4/4 since them. If I leave BT on all the time, it is on when I boot, but if I turn off BT and reboot, it won't come on without a hardboot (holding down power.)
Fix permissions is NOT needed, just a hard boot.

For the last few days Ive been trying to get BT working w/ my car stereo, using phiremod 5.3
I have no problems enabling Bluetooth (first time I had to reboot a few times and fix permissions)
With it flat against the stereo, I'm 'paired but not connected' and getting it to actually connect usually takes 4 - 5 tries.
After its connected- when I try to play any kind of music, it gets stuck every few seconds- and stays stuck for more than a few seconds (like 10) and plays again.
I just downloaded this kernel, (wiped caches, fixed permissions again) and it connected on the second time, and only got 'stuck' once for maybe 2 seconds, and played the rest of the song with no problems.
Seems like it changed something on my end...
Just figured I'd mentioned it.
(I can go back to the other kernel, or a different version of cm7, and see if I get the same connecting/ stuttering problem, if you thing it would help)
Btw- thanks so much for sharing all of your hard work!

Never had an issue with the IMEI number, but here's how I got it setup.
Start with the TetherGPS app running server on the phone and client on the NC, as well as tether-wifi from google running on the phone, then connect to the AP on the NC
Next, open/install the app. It should read the GPS data from the phone
Now, switch back to a wireless connection with internet access, download the voice, then enter the serial/etc...
Finally, load the app back up after all the registration stuff 'n things, and use the "internet" connection from the phone to grab the GPS info.
Copied and edited from cm7 user thread.
I have xoom bluetooth keyboard with disconnect issues. Would the special kernel help with this?
From the accessories thread. "I found a work-around. Download the app Bluetooth Keyboard JP, change the settings in settings > Language and Keyboard to that app, then connect the keyboard." Anybody else try this or others? Blue Input is another one. I know of one more but can remember its name.
I'm running Phiremod v5.3 cm7 from emmc and cm7 nightlies from sd card. I usually have a data sd card but can switch it out. I have updated the cm7 sd card before. Not sure which nightly and OC I used last. Could use ClockWorksMod to flash this kernel to Phiremod v5.3. Could replace the kernel, uImage, on the SD card. Usually there are different kernels for emmc and sd card.
Another issue: When I have the keyboard active and playing flash files from the internet, it seems to buffer more. If I move the keyboard out of range or use settings to disconnect the keyboard, the buffering is less and the flash files play better. I have cyfi bluetooth external speakers. When I use them I get the same buffering issue, so I just use an external player through the headphone jack instead.

Question: will 'Wireless Tethering' work in place of 'tether-wifi'? Or does it -have- to be 'tether-wifi'? Thanks!
any software will work that tethers.:-D

Apparently the latest version of Copilot has introduced this error. I have spoken with tech support regarding the issue and they told me that they are aware of the problem and will release an update early next week that will fix the problem. Apparently if you have version 8.2.504 it works, but the new version breaks it. The dev won't send me a copy of the old version, so I guess I'll just have to wait and hope.

I don't know if that is a solution, but the problem appears to be a conflict between wifi and bluetooth. Turn off wifi and most of your keyboard problems will go away.
Also there is an app on the market called "Null Keyboard" Which simply turns on a keyboard device that disables everything keyboard related. It doesn't disable bluetooth input, but it gets rid of the long-press pop ups and is suppose to solve other issues as well (including the software keyboard popping up every time you want to type.)
I haven't had time to install it, but it's purchased.
Does anyone know where (on the Nook) the BT chip/antenna is located?
It might help to know, since the range is so limited...

I was just using google voice to text from several feet back. In fact it was hard to read the small print from that distance. I did not realized that keyboards have a larger range then headsets.
Testing Bluetooth Keyboard JP now. Force closes, so just switched to swift keyboard I downloaded from amazon app store for free. To get out swift keyboard and get a null keyboard, I hit the back key on the xoom keyboard, then the virtual swift keyboard no longer shows up.
@chisleu do you have a link or instruction to modify bluetooth keyboards so that keys can have their mappings corrected. Xoom has some correct and some wrong or disabled under CM7.
Couldn't get BT to work at all however powering down while the wifi is off, and turning the bluetooth on before the wifi made it works on the first try. Was streaming Slacker to my stereo in a matter of minutes. Wifi doesn't seem to interfere with the BT audio stream at all, audio sounded crisp and perfect. Range however was still limited to a foot or so.
Hoping there is a possible hardware mod that can hook up an antenna to the BT chip. I'd be in heaven if I had full BT functionality on this beast.
FYI, Although I don't have any RF experience I'm still an electrical engineer so if anyone can toss me a bone on the PCB layout or pinouts of the nook I might be able to try stuff to boost the range.
What is the feasibility of adding dial-up networking client support to CM7? Some folks are able to tether their NC to their phone using an ad hoc wifi network, and others have had success via a Bluetooth personal area network (PAN) using the "pand" utility. Unfortunately, I have a Blackberry phone, and it does not support the PAN profile. It does, however, support dial-up networking (DUN) over Bluetooth (confirmed with a Windows laptop).
According to https://sites.google.com/a/android.com/opensource/projects/bluetooth-faq, "dund" is the client utility that is needed to establish a dial-up connection from Android to another device. When I run this command on the NC, it says "dund: not found". I'm not a developer and don't know how much effort would be involved in adding this functionality to the build. Is it just a matter of including the binaries, or is there additional development work involved?
Thanks in advance..

[Q] Anyone having problems copying files to the Tab?

I'm not sure if this is a problem with all samsung devices, just my tab, or perhaps even my computer:
Whenever I try copy a large file, say a movie, the transfer stops half way through and I get a message saying "The device has stopped responding" So I break it into smaller pieces and transfer separately, which works. Then, after I disconnect the USB, I get a repeated toast "Media Scanner Running" every few seconds. Whenever I try open the Video Player, Music, Gallery or even Camera, they close right away. So I read somewhere online that this is Samsung's crappy media scanner. I cleared the data from the media app and then I see a message "media scanning completed" and now I'm able to access these apps, though they show no files.
I have finally resorted to streaming over wifi from my desktop to the tab. Is anyone else facing these issues?
I'm currently on the latest overcome ROM, but I've seen the same issues on AOKP, Task and even the stock 3.2 rom.
I just found this post and would like to say that I too am having this problem, it happened with the stock ROM and after ROOT with Task650 ROM... I was worried it was the hardware in the Tablet. I was wondering if you ever resolved this or found a way around, as I too can't transfer large files (my movies) to it, it just times out.
I will also have this problem, only with Android 3.2
with CM9 I had not more ', which are now in stock, it has returned to make, so it's the rom
I used to have this problem when I had my sleep timer set to 1 minute. I now set it on 5 minutes, and have yet to see the problem reoccur. I just loaded a 2.5 gigabyte folder to it this morning without a hitch. I am not sure that is the solution to your problem, I have done many things since then...any of which could have resolved the issue. I am a flashaholic, so it may have been resolved on one of my more recent wipes (I always restore to stock and completely factory reset my tablet prior to loading another rom).
Regardless, try changing your sleep setting to 5 or 10 minutes and see if this resolves your issue. Post back your results!

I doubt it's the Rom, as I have used them all. It's more likely a setting or a driver issue....I am leaning towards settings.

Are you transferring using Explorer or Kies? Try using Kies and see if it has the same problems if you were using explorer.
I will try changing the sleep setting, that's a good idea I had not thought of this. I am transferring through explorer - I will try it tonight and post back my results.

Looks like this didn't help me, the transfer failed. Also, I keep hearing the USB connect/disconnect sound all throughout while the tablet is plugged in, and yes I tried different USB ports. I even uninstalled Kies and tried. Same issue.
Sometimes toggling usb debugging on the tablet works for me. Seems like the tab drivers don't play nice with some usb controllers.

Hrrmmmm, interesting. It sounds like one of 2 things is happening:
1. Your connection between your tablet and your computer is intermittent, whether it be the cable or the pins on your tablet connection.
Or
2. For some software related reason your computer cannot keep your tablet mounted. You may try going into your devices tab on the task manager and remove all references to your tablet, then try plugging ur tablet back in.

you can install a kernel that allows to disable mtp and mount ass mass storage, it solved the problem for me and is also way faster.

[Q] Please Help! YouTube and Google+ Hate My Wifi!!!

Hi everyone - I have a weird problem that I really need some help on!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III on the Verizon network. I've had the phone since it first came out and love it, but the problem I have is that when I connect to my network at home, YouTube and Google+ won't update.
Google+ tries to refresh and give the error:
"Can't load data. Check your connection."
When YouTube opens, I get the error:
There was a problem connecting to the network"
If I go into the sync settings for Google, most everything is syncing just fine, but Google+ and People details have problems. Google+ just shows the 2 arrows in the circle next to it and People details shows the same, but with an exclamation point. And then I have a message at the bottom that says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
This problem for YouTube and Google+ happens MOST of the time, but sometimes it will work OK. And if I have problems and turn off the WiFi and change to 4G, everything will update just fine. I also don't have the problem on other wireless networks.
So most of you are probably already thinking, "well this is a problem with your wireless network." That's what I would think.... however, my wife has the same phone and hers works fine on our wireless network. The only difference is that my phone is rooted and hers is not. I am only rooted though; I am still running the stock ROM on the same version and NOT a custom ROM.
I have changed out my wireless router from a NETGEAR N600 to a NETGEAR N150 (yes, a downgrade) and that did not make a difference. There is nothing special configured on the router. I have Time Warner providing my Internet access.
I have done a factory reset on my phone (wiped data, cache partition, and Dalvik cache from ClockworkMod)... still nothing. Be aware that I do run a lot of apps though (around 165 of them).
Here's my problem - I don't use a ton of data, so going to 4G should just be a minor annoyance. However, I now have 2 Chromecasts in the house (awesome!) and I need to be on the wireless to cast a YouTube video over to it... 4G won't cut it.
Hopefully I provided enough info. I've attached a few screenshots as well. Usually I'm pretty good at figuring these kind of things out, but I'm at my wits end on this one and I know there's some really smart people on XDA so I'm hoping you guys might be able to provide some help.
Thanks!!
-- Jim
Just to add to this (and to hopefully give this a little bump), I forgot that the same problem also exists with Google Voice... when I'm at home, I usually can't listen to my voicemails through the widget unless I get off the wireless and go to 4G.
Any thoughts anyone?

Do other internet activities work fine on ur phone? Such as web surfing, watching youtube vids etc?
And another thing is that rooting and unlocking tends to break some software related stuffs in stock roms, and the sync issue might be related as well. I suggest that u try a custom rom and see if the problem persists. Hope that helps

Why are you rooted? Are you using an ad-blocker? If yes, disable it, reboot, and try again. I've seen some of Google servers end up on adblocking lists.

Polobunny, that's something I didn't think of, but no I don't use an ad-blocker. I'm rooted for the backup abilities in Titanium Backup, the awesomeness of Greenify, and the ability to do small things (like rename sound files for the phone starting up or the camera shutter sounds). I like that idea though - I will try using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper to temporarily disable root when I get home. From another perspective though, that would be weird if it fixes the problem since it's only when I'm at my house... other WiFi connections work just fine. I will let you know what I find out.

I wasn't suggesting unrooting, merely disabling your ad-blocker, if you used one.

Well, it made me think... why not? That's one of the only differences between my phone and my wife's (the other is that I have a ton of apps on mine). I've only used Voodoo OTA RootKeeper one time, but it looks like it will do a temporary unroot, so I'll give it a shot.
As far as the ad-blockers, while I don't have one specifically installed, is it possible that one of my other apps might be causing a similar problem?

I'm thinking this might be a DNS issue. You've done a lot of work already on your phone and changed your router, but I don't think you mentioned reseting your modem. That would be my next step, whether or not m.youtube.com works on your device.

That got me thinking a little bit as well... I returned the cable modem I had to Time Warner in January (2013) and replaced it with a Motorola SURFboard SB6141 that I bought. I just logged in and checked the stats on it and everything looks in the normal range. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident that I've been having the problem since before the modem was swapped out.
When you say "reset the modem," are you talking about rebooting it or are you talking about resetting the configuration on it? I'm fine with either, just asking. The number show that it's been up for 31 days. The thing that keeps prodding me though is that their are no problems from at home on my wife's phone.
DNS is an interesting thought that might make the most sense... but more so a problem with it on my phone than anywhere else. Right now, my NETGEAR wireless router is dishing out the DHCP info and gives out Time Warner's DNS server addresses. I had Google's in there for a while, but changed them at one point thinking this might be related.
Is it possible that I have a bad HOSTS file entry or something when I connect to the WiFi at home? Does anyone know if the YouTube, Google+, and Google apps connect to different names or IP addresses than the mobile sites? If so, maybe I can try pinging those names or IPs that the apps go to for testing (assuming the mobile sites work fine).
Thanks!

Simply reboot it, not reset the configuration my bad.
You can use Google DNS servers on your router. This would absolutely rule out that your TimeWarner DNS servers are messing up with your stuff.
I wouldn't think it would be HOSTS file issue, unless you changed something to it yourself. Even more so if it works on mobile data.
As for YT, G+ and Gapps, they use a mesh of different servers so it's a bit hard to direct you more clearly. They all use the range 184.150.x.x as far as I'm aware though.
So all in all, try rebooting your modem. Might as well unplug the router when you do so. If it works after, then yay. If not, try using Google DNS.

Hi geoworld - yes, the bootloader is unlocked.
As a side note, I got home today and of course wasn't having the problem. Regardless, I rebooted the modem (and router) as polobunny suggested. I also changed the DNS servers to be Google's DNS instead of the ISP's. Now I'm just waiting for the problem to happen again.

I don't know yet - like I mentioned in the original post, it's an intermittent issue that happens MOST of the time, but sometimes it does work. Unfortunately, it worked fine when I got home yesterday before I even made any changes so it's hard to tell if any difference was made. If it's not going to work again, I will know pretty quickly (next day or two) since that's how often it was happening. I'll keep the thread open for a few more days and update the post as I'm testing every day.

So things were going OK, but now I had something a little unusual... the problem happened again with Google+: "Can't load data. Check your connection"
I then went to the YouTube app and it took a loooooong time but eventually loaded. I then went back to Google+ and it loaded OK.
I'm confused.

This thread is [B]not[/B] created or maintained by the Switchroot team.
If you have any questions or concerns please ask them in their offical thread!
I decided to create a thread dedicated to user-submitted bug reports, since the main DevDB thread seems to be constantly flooded with replies and discussions (bug reports tend to get buried rather quickly).
This is intended to make these issues easier to see for the Switchroot team, instead of them having to read through countless pages and compile a list themselves. Please only report bugs in this thread!

OpenGL rendering does not work in Dolphin Emulator
Joy-Con (A,X,B,Y,) inputs are swapped
While docked, audio does not output while using GeForce Now
Some apps have small black bars on the right side and bottom of the screen while running in Immersive (fullscreen) mode. Disabling the navigation bar and using a gesture-based navigation app such as Fluid Navigation Gestures seems to be a temporary workaround.

Some users report that while in the Recents screen, application thumbnails are not appearing
All consoles seem to share the same MAC Address while running Android, instead of generating a unique one as intended
The analog sticks on the Joy-Cons report only being able to move in 8 directions, even after flashing the "fix-joycon.zip" in the official thread
Some users report that the time and date are reset back to defaults after shutting down or rebooting the system

I have an Insignia Dock by Best Buy (which doesn't have any bricking reports) to use when traveling cause is much smaller. Although, it is not working on Android, while on Horizon it works just as a first-party dock. Did anyone have any luck with third-party docks? What would it needs to get it working?
My switch is really slow while running Android, probably the sdcard, but it's not slow on Ubuntu, same card. (16gb sandisk) It seems slightly better by decreasing the io read ahead to 128kb. Also download speeds on any network are about 5-15 kbps, no matter the network. Anybody else have this? I installed gapps, the nvidia app and magisk before first boot. Also flashed using win32 disk imager.

I've seen others on the DevDB thread have similar issues with third-party docks, but I've yet to test with mine. Ubuntu seemed to not work on mine the last time I tested it however, if that says anything. I'll have to give it a go when I have time.

Also download speeds on any network are about 5-15 kbps, no matter the network. Anybody else have this? I installed gapps, the nvidia app and magisk before first boot. Also flashed using win32 disk imager.

I can confirm this issue as well. I have a pretty speedy Samsung EVO Select U3 microSD, but system responsiveness seems rather lackluster until an app loads itself into memory. Not sure if this is the fault Android running off an SD Card or not.
A bit off topic, but another bug I noticed are that app screenshots on the Recents screen seem to be broken for me. If anyone could confirm this that'd be great.
Looks like screenshots don't work. It keeps saying no permission when I try to take a screen shot.

Can confirm this, but it's actually already a known bug according to the devs.

Is this on boot, or does it just happen at random? Because if it's the prior that's actually a known bug.

I've seen others on the DevDB thread have similar issues with third-party docks, but I've yet to test with mine. Ubuntu seemed to not work on mine the last time I tested it however, if that says anything. I'll have to give it a go when I have time.

Have you changed your performance profile? That was a big improvement from me. I went all the way to 1700 though. I don't see much of a reason not to max her out.
A couple things:
- In my experience, the wifi random connection dropping issue only happens on 5GHz networks, 2.4GHz network will remain connected without interruptions.
- Some fullscreen apps (mostly games I've tried out, like Portal and Super Hexagon) have small-ish black bars on the right side and bottom of the screen while running in fullscreen mode, it seems this has something to do with the nav buttons but even using a setting that allows the nav bar to auto-hide will still cause these black bars to appear in fullscreen games.
- Lowering screen DPI below 600 in portrait orientation causes all of the nav buttons at the bottom of the screen to stop working properly (it seems below 600 dpi that they end up stacking all on top of one another in the middle where the home button should be), note that this issue does not happen in landscape orientation.
I think there are a few more reproducible bugs I've encountered but I don't remember them right now, will edit or post another reply if I think of/encounter any more.
Edit: another thing, but I'm not sure if this is actually a bug. Is it normal for a joy-con or pro controller connected via bluetooth to continue cycling through player indicator LEDs as if they were still searching for devices/in pairing mode? I haven't ever needed to connect my switch controllers/joycons to another device so I'm not sure if this is normal.
Edit 2: OpenGL rendering does not work in Dolphin for Android. Not sure if that's an actual 'bug' either.
A couple of things i came across
Joycons buttons are swapped when using moonlight/geforce now
Geforce now in docked mode audio stops working

I've yet to experience any WiFi drop-outs and I'm using a 5GHz network. Perhaps I've just been lucky?

I can confirm both of these issues.

This is actually normal, it happens when you pair a Switch controller (be it Joy-Cons or Pro Controller) via Bluetooth to any OS besides Horizon.

I've heard others report this issue, though I've yet to confirm it myself.

I haven't tried GeForce Now in docked mode, so I can't confirm that one myself (though I've heard user reports that line up with you). As for the Joy-Cons, they seem to be adopting Nintendo's layout rather than the more traditional Xbox layout. This seems to happen on every app, so it must be something with the drivers

Do you have a combination 2.4/5GHz network that supplies both frequencies over the same SSID, or does your router supply both frequencies as their own separate SSIDs/networks (i.e. "routername" and "routername-5G)?

The latter, the exact router I own is a NETGEAR C7000.

Interesting, same type of router at my SO's place but have issues with the 5G network. Maybe it doesn't have to do with the network frequency then? Could very well be something else wrong with that router. No issue with my home network.
I have come across an issue with the touchscreen and mouse positioning while using Kodi. It appears as though the touch/mouse calibration is configured for a different resolution, so the points are progressively shorter as you go further from the upper left corner. A user posted a solution to this on the main thread for this, but this issue needs to be done with every boot. Not much of an issue for me, but it would be cool if this issue could be taken care of eventually. Here's the solution from that other user. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79977014&postcount=387

I have an Insignia Dock by Best Buy (which doesn't have any bricking reports) to use when traveling cause is much smaller. Although, it is not working on Android, while on Horizon it works just as a first-party dock. Did anyone have any luck with third-party docks? What would it needs to get it working?

Hello,
I tried connecting this dock: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07GQYTJ8G/ which works perfectly fine in Horizon and L4T Ubuntu.
Now on Android charging, ethernet connection and usb works but hdmi output on tv is just 480p with messed up screen ratio.
I have found this post in the rom thread which could help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79977014&postcount=387
I couldn't test it yet.

It's random fc. And playstore stop working when install pubg mobile.
Bug:
Joycons Still not working as proper analog sticks (have flashed joycon fix zip). They work like digital sticks. You can test the movement with this app:

I personally haven't tried Kodi yet, but I've added this to the thread because it seems like a known bug as per user reports.

I actually got around to trying my third-party dock (which I believe to be this one) and it doesn't work. The official dock works fine however. I guess it's just hit and miss with third-party docks.

Interesting, I haven't had many FCs on my unit. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
