i have S2U my "Blank Screen on Talk" is off
but when I make a call the screen goes blank, a little help
Could be that S2U2 is not overiding the default proximity sensor settings..
Try playing with the prox. sens. toggles in CHT2.0.....
Thats about all I can think to suggest.
Someone might know the reg values you need to disable the prox. sens. but not me Im afraid.......
dear sweet Lord, someone get me a straight jacket
just found out why phone goes blank when I make a call.
go on guess what it was, you'll never bloody guess, give up???
it was my protective phone case. You see there is a flap that covers this piece where you put your ear. when i took the phone out of the case and made the call the phone only goes blank when i put it to my ears and light back up when i move it away
i really need a drink, is it too early!!!!

hi, my display has gone off on my xperia x10 the backlight still lights and keys still light up, but thats all i get, the phone loads and i can still recieve messages and phone calls because i can hear the notifications, i have taken this to a shop who said it was the lcd, so they replaced it, but the phone is still the same, im not covered on warranty because i bought it privatly, i also wondered if anyone knows, when you take th back cover off directly underneath the battery underneath the two screws at the bottom of the phone, something that looks like a long clip in thing, wot function this has on the phone because right at the bottom of mine the plastic has come away abit and i can see gold metal. thanks in advance for any help. also have have done a repair on pc companion and its made no difference,
anyone having issues with screen turning off as soon as a call is placed even when not near your ear?, i was trying to setup my voicemail and since the process ask you press numbers to confirm or # i coulnt do it cus the screen would just keep turning off and wont turn on until i use power ,but, it will only last few second and turns off again, very annoying cus i cant see nothing when i place a call, on my OG evo the screen would turn off when near my ear but would turn on as i got it away.
then the opposite the screen stayed on and had used power to turn it off but, it locked the phone and when i tried to unlock it as soon as i got near anywhere in the whole screen it would just turns off and wouldnt let me unlock it to hang up,
and sometimes it would stay on when i place a call and wont turn off even if i get it near my ear..
sorry for my english...
Are you using a screen protector or have a case on that covers any part of the front?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
yes i am using a zagg screen protector, no cases.
i was thinking maybe the protector, i hope is not that cus i paid $25 plus $7 to have it install at bestbuy
i was just checking the protector and i can see it covers the sensor space...
EDIT: THANKS donatom3..i decided to risk the $32 dollars i spend on the protector and cut the little corner where the sensor is, now works great!! when i get to a call it wont turn off like it did, when i place a call and get it near my ear it turns off but when i get it away and comes on just like my OG EVO...thanks cus i only did it after you asked me..i hope this help someone else having issues...
So I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. No biggie as I am fairly handy. Bought a new digitizer and replaced it. All the functions work... that is until I try and make a phone call. No voice registers. Try and use the voice command option and it doesn't hear anything. Ok, so I need a $5 mic from ebay. I think it goes deeper than this. When I make the phone call the screen automatically goes black and I can't get it to come back up until the call ends. I made a phone call and swear I can hear a faint echo of my voice in the earpiece. I've had it apart half a dozen times or more checking everything. It all looks good. I think the phone is only like 2 months old so I'm not even sure if there's a warranty on it, especially now that I've replaced the screen. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Hello, I am having the exact same problem on my friends Radar. Did you ever figure it out? where did you buy the digitizer, Ebay? Thanks!

For the Radar, it is very easy to damage the mic flex if you don't remove it prior to removing the outer housing of the phone, and also if you don't install it after installing the housing again. There is very little clearance when levering the housing off of the board/lcd, so if the flex is not removed, it can crease, causing the internal wires of the flex to be damaged.
Regarding the screen going black, this is usually caused by a fault or blocked proximity sensor, or sometimes a missing grommet that goes around the sensor to block extraneous light from interfering with the sensor. I suggest double checking to make sure that nothing is blocking the sensor, that the sensor is not damaged or unplugged in any way, and that any grommet that was originally there is still there.
I have a Radar open in front of me right now and it is supposed to have a grommet around the proximity sensor, so if you happened to have lost it or threw it away with the old digitizer, you might be out of luck. Try to find some way to separate the transmitting and recieving components of the sensor so that they can't interfere with eachother (so that the light emitted by the transmitter doesn't immediately reflect off of the digitizer and back into the reciever).
Kind of hard to explain, sorry.
After I updated my Nokia Lumia 920. the screen turns off when im dialing someone, and the only way to get it back is to restart it or if the person on the other end hangs up.
Could it be the light sensor? or is it just the phone update that messed it up?

Thanks!
I will return it tomorrow, since im not ready to open it after 20 days of use
now its REALLY FIXED but need to open the phone (only two screws )
Symptoms:
Experience screen and touch sensor switch off during a call, Notifications (the screen stays off, like if it was in a pocket) which doesn't turn on as usual.
Try:
If during a call you press and hold the upper left corner of the glass -just between the speaker and the upper left corner- you will notice that the sensor works as expected.
I think :
Because of the layered nature of the phone internals design and the heavy use of ribbon connectors it had to be tight to connect the board with the sensor.
My Solution:
I just added a peace of sponge (W:4mm/H:5mm/L:15mm) (all weather door and window sealant) -that comes self adheasive from one side- and sticked a small peace on the board on the opposite side of the phonejack/secondary mic connectors (Pictures attached) this will add pressure on the board to be more tight tried it and working as normal.

Mine is suffering the same issue. In the Nokia forums one user recommended to "blow air" across the top of the phone where the display meets the case right above the Nokia logo. I did this and now my proximity sensor is working. It's got to be dust getting on the sensor. I'm going to take mine apart and see if I can come up with a seal for the FFC and proximity sensor.
Making this thread so that something pops up in google for other people searching for help with these issues.
Was unable to get auto brightness to work on my Galaxy S8 - it stayed dim outdoors and was impossible to see. The light sensor was working perfectly (showed change using the Sensor Box app), it just had no effect on the screen brightness.
In the course of things (including having my local Samsung repair centre replace the phone) I eventually worked out that it was my phone case. Specifically, the MAGNETS in it.
I can't post links yet, but the eBay item id of the case I bought is 162444029744 so you can see the sort of case I'm talking about.
When held up against the magnets, auto brightness doesn't work. As soon as you move the magnets away, the brightness instantly jumps to the right level. If I held the back of the phone up to the side of the case WITHOUT the magnets, auto brightness would work correctly.
The magnets in the case ALSO stop the proximity sensor from turning the screen off when held up to your face during calls. Just checked it then - put my hand in front of the sensor with no case, screen goes off. Put the phone against a magnet, screen stays on.
Same problem
I noticed the same with mine. I received a follow-up call from Samsung after having my phone for about 1 week. I informed them of the screen auto-brightness function not working. They told me it's normal. I had to convince them and their technician it's not.
I then backed up my phone and was about to take it in, in 2 hours time, until I saw your post. And yup, I have the magnetic case too. Same problem.
Didn't have that issue with my S6 though. Same magnetic case.
Thanks for the post.
S8 phone case magnet fix - Auto-brightness [SOLVED]
This has been bugging me for weeks ever since I got my case from Wish. Restart the phone and it all works for a moment, then the sensors fail again. Thanks to this post I took my case off and all is good.
I found my particular case has 6 small magnets in the back cover to hold it in my wallet. I removed the lower right magnet (as you look at the back) and both my phone and case are now working properly.
Hope this helps
Same issue, although mine comes from a magnetic car mount (diy).
I was just thinking of getting a magnetic wireless-charging car mount (with the metal ring that goes into the phone case)...
Apart from the auto-brightness issue, did you notice anything else behaving quirky? Was the phone getting hot, or the screen misbehaving, etc... Also, where were the mount's magnets in relation to the phone; I suppose vertically centered?
I'd call Samsung and ask, they should know best, but since it's not the engineers on the phone, but just tech support people, they'll probably just repeat the "only buy our stuff" nonsense instead of giving any useful reply
