[Q] Battery life problems - Optimus One, P500, V General

I have an Optimus One bought in Dec. 2010. Until a week or so ago, battery life was normal...then it suddenly went way down, I now get 6 hours or so instead of the regular 15-16 (I have push e-mail & WiFi turned on all the time).
I installed task managers to see if it was an app that was draining my CPU, there is nothing of the sort. I swapped the actual battery with one from someone else's O1, I'm still having the same issue, whereas my battery in her phone works fine. So it's not the battery...both phones are running 2.2.2, so I doubt it was the recent OS upgrade that caused the problem.
What I do remember is that seemingly the first day that the problem started, the phone felt quite hot in my pocket for hours.
So, what do you think? HW problem with the phone? Should I try a full reset before sending it in to be serviced? Some other problem?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Can't do nothing since cant root it..
Only option is downgrade ...

So you think it's a 2.2.2 problem? Have others experienced it? My friend does not have this issue on her O1 w/2.2.2

try that hard reset
or install an app that resets just battery stats
and if that doesn't try lg service center

Can you give me an example of a program that resets battery stats? What does that mean, actually? You think the OS is reading battery info incorrectly? I'd like to try this prior to a hard reset...

Ah! U've got a companion in me!! I have the same issue going on with my O1. And I did a factory reset and still have the issue of the battery getting heated up at times (can't figure out when it starts heating and how it starts though!!). And the battery drains out quite fast. Lasts like for 6-8 hours max!!
Another problem is SD unmounting on its own and phone restarting. This has however stopped now, post the reset!!

1. Fully charge the phone.
2. Turn it off and continue charging the phone.
3. You will see a green battery. Wait for 5-10 minutes. Then disconnect the charger for 5-10 minutes and then charge again for 7-9 minutes.
4. Turn the phone on (without disconnecting from the charger).
5. Start RootExplorer and delete the file batterystats.bin (file path: data / system / batterystats.bin).
6. Restart the phone.
7. Disconnect the charger.

sorry i have a problem: my battery, in charge, arrive att 99% and it stop, she never arrive to 100%. Everyone knows why?

@5152: Thanks for the advice, but I'm running 2.2.2 and as such do not have a rooted phone, so I can't access the data folder...
@rakesharr: So I guess hard reset doesn't fix it...maybe it's a hardware issue after all?

theelle,
try wipe battery

Try rooting the phone, install custom recovery and wipe battery stats.
You may also try downgrading it to 2.2.0 and run it for few days. It may be a 2.2.2 error.
You can also install watchdog from market and see what app goes nuts on cpu and battery. Maybe you have some wild app there and it drains your phone.
My o1 is overclocked, has jit and hwacc enabled and still goes for two days.
Worst case scenario: hardware problem. You'll have to get it to service for that.

OK, so I installed Watchdog, here are my stats:
CPU% in background Android apps: 0.2%
Time CPU spent off: 0
Memory (free/total): 13916/428584 kB
CPU Information: User: 73.5% Nice: 3.2% System: 11.2% Idle 12.2%IO/IRQ/SoftIRQ 0%
Out of the user mode apps, 75% of the CPU usage seems to be occupied by Watchdog itself...so I guess I have no offending apps?
Rooting is not an option without a downgrade from 2.2.2 as far as I know...so I guess this will be my next step this weekend.

Try normal wallpaper rather than live wallpaper..

The wipe battery stats trick did the job. Just saying thanks.

Another problem with battery. = )
Installed:
[beta1.1 online] CyanogenMod 7 alpha (Android 2.3.3)
Thunderg recovery
My P500 works now about 7 hours in daily mode, but before I flashed Cyanogen it works (on official 2.2.1) about 24 hours with the same load.
After wiping battery stats I`m get endless bootscreen of Cyanogen. = (
And another bug - after plugging phone to any device (over USB to PC or power) - it getting on (no gray screen with battery). = (
P.S: Sorry for my bad English, if it is. = )

And why are you posting here? Post on mik's thread, and first of all, what version are you running (beta 1.1 the newest) ?! Old ones have had problems with discharging abnormally.

Johnflorin try to downgrade, I've heard that they where trying a new touchscreen driver to fix the old problem on O1 (processor load 100% on screen touch) so maybe there is something wrong with the new update OR maybe there was an error on update and something isn't working correctly. So downgrade and as an advice install #void Rom because it's stable and wait for mik to finish porting cynogenmod on O1 and install

IrocG, because the topic is - battery life problem. = ) Reposted to mic`s topic.

Ultimately ended up doing a hard reset and the problem seems to have gone away...thanks for all the advice!
Perhaps it happened because I updated to 2.2.2 without wiping everything...I'm on 2.2.2 now and all is well

[Q] Battery drains over night on my LG p500

I have a LG optimus One P500 with 2.3.3 stock OS and i have high battery consumption . i check the battery status in the morning and it shows that cell standby and phone idle takes 45 - 50% after 1d and 6h .
Is this normal ? It happens every one or two days. So when i go to bed the device is charged but in the morning i have 75% of battery left.
excuse my english !
P.S. with only 3 or 4 apps installed ! that does not cosume battery .
Please help or advice!
Hmmm doesnt seem normal.I get just 1-2% battery drain overnight, but i have rooted my phone and installed franko gb kernel.U can read the guides and try installing this kernel.
P.S:I also had somehow high battery drain with stock kernal, but not as much as yours.
I had a similar situation once. I fixed it by copying all the files off the SD card, format the card (using the menu on the phone settings-storage-format) then copy the data back.
It appears a something was going wrong with the card.
Ice
thanks i will try this at first and see if the problem is solved . If not i dont know...
It drains battery on GB !(Lg Optimus One P500)
So after 13 hours my battery was at 19% on my Lg P500
I checked in Settings/applications/Battery use and guess what :
Cell stanby 31%
Phone idle 30%
voice calls 39% , and when i tapped the meter on top of the display to see the graffic i found out that the line assigned to "awake" it is uninterrupted.
And now after 1 hour after charging the battery use section : cell standby 50%
phone idle48% and display 4% ! AND all the lines in graffic are also uninterrupted.
ADVICE NEEDED !

If the Awake bar is uninterrupted, then some background apps are running continuosly in the background, even when the phone's screen is off. This should not happen unless you have turned ON data-sync and if you've applications which try to connect to internet every 10 mins like facebook, twitter. Check these. You can see what are all the applications running in the background in Settings -> Applications -> Running Services
Yeah...such applications do sync often and you have to make sure that they dont sync every 30 mins for example.
Having root and installed setcpu could makes such differences, for instance, you could make a custom Sleep profile, which undervolt your cpu frequencies when the display is off. Having this and your phone could get enough sleep while you were

Did you transfer songs or any other media recently? My stock phone had a bug wherein a new media transfer would trigger an unending SD Card scan which would suck battery like Ms. Jameson.
I solved it by deleting those files.

How did you discover that this bug was active? Would it actually keep saying Scanning SD Card or something? Because I have had noticeably higher battery drain just yesterday after transferring all my old files back into a newly partitioned card + newly flashed ROM. Just using the ROM and card before moving the files gave me a maximum of 1 day and 5 hours... Today it went to 50% in 8 hours.
I did but by usb cable. After that i erased all data.
Today after 12 hours i have 76% left . It's very strange! Do you have an explanation? I wonder.
Thanks

Oh so that worked? Great.
I was testing a friends music player app when it happened to me. I told him that his album art rendering was very buggy, so we both ended up investigating and he found that the stock rom was performing continous scans. I didn't see icons or anything.

How can you tell if your phone is continuously scanning the sd card?
We at caynogen mod 7 enjoy the sleep button about zero percent change in sleep mode ...its great .. well I was no help to you but I hope you fix your problem

Indeed it's drained battery terribly after upgrade stock rom to official version 2.3.3 (V20D in my country). I have the same problem as well. I found it 25% battery life gone after 4 hours from fully charged status before upgrading to version V20D. I did try playing or testing the GPS & data network 2G (GSM) around after done upgrade. Previously in V20G Android version 2.2.2, 1 full day drained battery for about 30% only.
I have tried GO Launcher EX app before on v2.2.2. I wonder if I should install this launcher app again. Will Launcher app drain more battery life or save power battery? Seeking any recommendation from xda experts here. Please advise.
Thank you.
drains no more
Now that you have 2.3.3 you must kill some apps . try in settings/apps/running and see what apps are active ,then you go to all apps and close apps that are running.
In my case google maps , facebook , yahoo mail and another 2 apps drained my battery . So i closed them and it's ok ! Now every time i use them i stop them after.

if you Maps installed then Uninstall it.
it starts up any time it wants and takes a lot of battery.
Hello.
First I would like to thank istoner for the this great advice. I had the same problem with my optimus one and this helped me a lot.
I just bought the phone a week ago and about 3 days ago i installed winamp app and transfered a few mp3's on the sd card. Just last evening, when i stumbled into this topic, I realised that my high battery drain problem started just after i did the fore mentioned changes to my phone.
Yesterday(data from "Battery use" in Settings) with ~14h since full charge i had like 20% battery left with moderate use during day. So after that, I followed this advice and removed the whole folder from sdcard containing the mp3's and let the phone charging over night again. I used the phone with the same moderation as yesterday. As i'm writing this i'm reading from "Battery use" a 13h 52m uptime since last full charge and my batter is at 74% percent left.
I can't tell you how glad i am i stumbled into this topic. I was just ready to uninstall all my apps and possibly get the phone in service.
I find this a somewhat important problem of the cellphone and i think more users should be informed about this. Could be a nice addition to some faq/tips and tricks topics.
I still have a couple of questions though and i hope someone will be nice enough to answer them.
What could be the cause of this problem? The android os(upgraded official 2.3.3 from stock 2.2.*), the phone's hardware or the sdcard?
What is there to do if I, let's say, go on a trip and i need some music to listen to on my phone?
Thank you.
i highly recommend to FREEZE it using titanium backup pro..
den unfreeze it if your gonig to use it
Afaik Titanium Backup is for rooted phones. Mine is not, as i said i'm using official 2.3.3. I don't know if i'm gonna root it atm just for using titanium backup.
I still hope there is another workaround that doesn't involve rooting the phone.

[Q] Galaxy S2 GT-9100 battery problem in GB 2.3.4 / 2.3.5 and ICS 4.0.3

Greetings from (cloudy) Germany. Many battery problem threats exist in this forum and the world wide web. Unfortunately most of them reach hundreds of pages and after the 3rd or 4th page it slides away from any technical discussion and becomes very emotional. This is the reason why i´m going to open another one, which hopefully helps me. So here is my ....
... frame what happened:
I own a SGS2 GT-I9100, branding free. It´s almost half a year old. When i bourght it, it came with GB 2.3.4 which worked fine for me. At the beginning of this month i recived ICS via Kies. As a result of this update my phone became super slow. Almost all applications hung and chrashed. So i decited to manually go back to an older FW. I´ve choosen GB 2.3.5, as the look and feel was better for me, then 2.3.4.
... Problem:
Since i did the update to 4.0.3 my battery performance is 10 times worse in ->standby<- as it was with 2.3.4.
... what i did so for, to isolate the problem:
Many threads talk about an Android OS bug. After a long search it is still not clear to me, what this bug excatly means!?!? Apps, which drain the battery are not installed (there are no special Apps installed, except the ones which come with the FW). I have no widgets running and the phone is in Airplane mode. If is switch off the phones display i loose about 30% battery during one night (8 - 9 hours). With 2.3.4 it was about 3% per night. If i use my phone during the day (SMS, Calls, Wireless, 3G and music) it does not increase the battery usage very much. maybe 40% per 8 - 9 hours. I did a factory reset to my phone, installed cpu spy and switched the display off. Analysis show 99% Deep Sleep. nevertheless it uses 30% battery during this time.
In summary:
- German GB 2.3.4 got an update from K.I.E.S. to ICS 4.0.3 -> bad phone performance and battery drained
- Downgrade from German ICS 4.0.3 to German GB 2.3.5 following a procedure and firmware from android-galaxy dot info
- With GB 2.3.5 the performance returned back to normal but battery was still bad.
- Installed German GB following a procedure and firmware from android-galaxy dot info
- Performance was still good, but battery drained.
- Installed netherlands GB 2.3.5 and battery was still draining.
- Received ICS 4.0.3 via software update. Fortunately the phones performance is still very good but the battery drains anyway.
All test where performed without any app installed and in flight mode.
Questions:
1. what ist the so called Android OS bug in connection with battery problems?
2. does anybody have the same problem and solved it?
3. is there any way to recive the stock rom, which came with my phone?
-> a friend of mine have the same SGS2 with GB 2.3.4 and without any battery problem.
Thanks for constructive, helpfull and unemotional technical feedback. If you have further question, send me a PN. I´ll summarize them, and add them to this post. It will keep it clearly and in coherence.
Why not rename General forum Q&A then users wont break the rules .
1. what ist the so called Android OS bug in connection with battery problems?
No search ???? read the Android OS Bug Post .
2. does anybody have the same problem and solved it?
Long time ago Android 2.3.6 .
3. is there any way to recive the stock rom, which came with my phone?
YES if you know what it was and can search for it .

Thanks for your quick reply. I found many things for "Android OS Bug", also solutions. For example: "Disable widgets" or "stop wireless sharing". Unfortunately nothing helped me.
If you kow about the same problem with the battery and how to solve it, please tell me. I searched for it and was not successful.
I know the page for Stock Roms and how to apply them. As you can read in my initial post i did some up- and downgrades. I went back to official 2.3.4 with existing battery problem.
Maybe this was a missunderstanding. I need to know if ther is any "smart" way, without rooting etc., to get a rom out of an existing phone, without the battery drain.

Thx for your information.
My phone charges up to 100% (as far as it does not lie to me). ;-)
I do not complain about the power consumption. I complain about the difference between stock 2.3.4 and any ohter stock ROM / update i installed.

Have you tried any custom roms?
Or contacted the retailer about this?
Maybe it is a hw problem.
It would suggest a battery fault tbh.
Flashing repeatedly can put strain on the battery (from my own experience), also as far as I am aware, the official update via KIES did cause battery related issues; I never experienced, but my friends did, and Samsung UK where troubleshooting by, removing the battery for 10 minutes, letting it drain out when put back in the phone, then performing a full charge when switched off. If not resolved > factory reset - which did help one of my friends surprise, surprise lol.
If you are still in first 6 months I would advise contacting Samsung Germany for a replacement battery to see if any improvement. Otherwise you can buy cheap online.
Hey superthug & T__. Thx for your good comments. I´ll give it a try. One of my friends have a SGS2 without any problem. I´m going to x-change it with him.
Cheers.
Hey Guys. I made some further testing, but it´s getting more ande more worse.
1. I x-changed the battery with another SGS2. My battery is draining and the other SGS2 is good. -> No battery fault.
2. I did many factory resets, installed betterybatterystats, but it shows no wake locks. all values are below 4%
3. I installed cpu spy, and it shows 98% Deep sleep, when not using it <---- as expected!
4. I changed my FW to:
I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5
ICS 4.0.3
Base: I9100XXLPS
Kernel: 3.0.15-i9100XWLP7-CL340913
[email protected]#3
Build: IML74K.XWLP7
All was downloaded from this Forum. I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5 is the default, which came with KIES. I verified this with another SGS2, running this FW trouble free!
5. When i charging my SGS2 now, it heats up extremly. The CPU is running at 1Ghz while external power is connected (not only during charging)
Any ideas?
Hi,
I am seeing the same issue. I noticed after upgrading to ICS that the phone was working well for a few days and battery life was good, then after I plugged it in to charge overnight (as I always do) I found that the battery had decreased and the phone was hot to touch near where the camera is located on the back the following morning.
I reset the phone to defaults and I was able to charge a couple of times but this didn't fix the problem and it started happening again.
I have tried charging from my laptop, and 2 separate USB chargers with different cables and the same fault has occured.
A reset of the phone seems to temporarily fix the issue and I can charge the phone again but when I plug in again to charge I see the battery decreasing.
It seems as if something is screwing up and causing the CPU to run at 100% when the charger is attached which would explain why the phone is warm/hot to touch.
I'm just testing at the moment to see if I can get the phone to a state where the charger is connected and the battery is decreasing to try to identify the cause. I suspect that it may have something to do with when the phone goes to sleep and the screen turns off so I will try to set the timeout to 10 mintues to see if this helps and the battery starts to charge again.
Suspend Mode bug + linux power management regressions: flight/airplane drains battery
Hi, I experienced a similar issue with GS2 i9100G. I also haven't found a clear and definite answer in the various forums I have been digging into.
To sum it up here's what I found:
Android 2.3.4 worked perfectly fine with GS2, but upgrade to 2.3.6 introduced a suspend mode bug. Basically Suspend mode would cause the system to enter a loop, thus the battery drain while in flight mode.
The best solution would be to downgrade/stay with Android 2.3.4 (when it ain't broke don't fix it).
Possible workarounds if you'd rather not fiddle with your OS version:
Wifi settings > advanced settings > Policy: Wifi always on (so as not to trigger suspend mode with wifi), then (optional) use a Battery Manager App to fine-tune the wifi activation. Wifi always on drains your battery, but less than the system loop if you're not constantly on the move.
Don't use flight mode, shut you phone at night and use a good old clock) (and redirect calls to your landline if you must)
Try and find the apps that require regular sync thru wifi and might be the sole culprit causing the system to enter the loop
Note that Android 2.3.4 is based on Linux kernel 2.6.32 and that Android 2.3.6 is based on kernel 2.6.35 which introduced a major power management regression.
The fix for this regression has not been fixed before current kernel 3.3 (although some developer may have backported the fix into 3.2), so I would advise to stay away from current Android 4.0.3 ICS which is based on kernel 3.0 (later versions will be based on kernel 3.2 though)
I am not sure if this is the root for the suspend mode bug or if both issues are independent, but in the meantime 2.3.4 works perfectly fine.
EDIT: upgrade to 2.3.6 then 4.0.3 really stand as blunders from Samsung on such high-end Smarphones. Regardless of the device, waiting for the upcoming Android version 4.0.5 seems the better choice if you want to enjoy ICS and not regret iOS...
Android 4.0.3, a version with well-documented problems, including the battery problem, rather than 4.0.5, which solves many of those problems?
Probably not. Probably, the slow nature of Android updates is to blame. It took six months for version 4.0.3 to wend its way through the system, meaning it could yet be months more before the updated update, version 4.0.5, reaches users.
Right now, it seems their only option is to go back to 2.3.6, just like they’re asking.

Suspend Mode bug causing flight/airplane mode to drain battery
After trying different things I came to the conclusion that it all comes down to apps who force themselves to run in the background when you install them and request frequent syncs (free apps will do whatever it takes to boost their ad revenue).
To me it's still a bug in the suspend mode (Apps shouldn't be allowed to request a connection while in Airplane mode, doing it triggers a loop of failed attempts) and Samsung overlooked it.
In the meantime the previous solutions I mentioned do work:
n°1 (lazy fast) - Wifi settings > advanced settings > Policy: Wifi always on (so as not to trigger suspend mode with wifi), then (optional) use a Battery Manager App to fine-tune the wifi activation. Wifi always on drains your battery, but less than the system loop if you're not constantly on the move.
n°2 (depends on the number of apps) - Try and find the apps that require regular sync thru wifi and might be the sole culprit causing the system to enter the loop
n°3 (last resort) - Don't use flight mode, try to turn off data instead or shut you phone at night and use a good old clock) (and redirect calls to your landline if you must)

A battery calibration shouldn't be of much help.
Eventually I read someone, with Android ICS 4.0.3 installed, who mentioned DTIM and explained that changing the default 5ms to 1ms solved his battery life problem (note that you usually set this parameter to the highest possible latency to save your battery on mobile devices)
this is by far the most interesting battery problem thread i have found in the past 2 weeks. this exactly describes the problem I've been having.
initially nothing was wrong for me either. straight out of the box went ok for months. i'm not sure, but i think it was 2.3.4. shortly after the stock official update (unbranded) update to android 4.0.3 i noticed the battery died in about a day, instead of 2 days.
things i tried thus far:
- flash 2.3.6 back. same problem.
- flash 2.3.4 back, same problem.
- since it sucks either way, i flashed the stock 4.0.3 again.
- disabled a whole ****load of apps i normally use. same problem.
- decided to root and flash dragonICS 4.0.4 with default siyah kernel
- swapped battery with a colleague who does not have this problem. same problem.
- reset battery thingy in extweaks, battery % reporting sucks big time since then, but essentially: same problem
- tried a lot of suggested tweaks in extweaks which are supposedly better. same problem.
- set syncing at a longer interval (even though it worked fine out of the box). same problem.
- disabling all the sensors i could (including rotation for the apps), wifi, data traffic in general. same problem.
- cut the light sensor polling interval in half (from 1sec to 2sec). same problem
- removed the SD-card, because god knows what conflict it could cause. same problem.
- removed sim card, since problems were reported between this phone, android4 and my provider. same problem.
- full battery drain and charge cycle. same problem
problem verification:
- battery monitor widget, which logs an obvious higher battery usage than my colleagues phone.
- badass battery monitor which clearly shows "kernel" and "android system" way up there, where it should never be.
- "system tuner" in the "task manager" section which shows "android system" and "/system/bin/surfaceflinger" using the most cpu time by far
- "cpu spy" shows the cpu most of the time in deep sleep, which looks pretty good to me.
i can see the android system is using a lot of time reading 2 sensors, which seem required by basic functioning of the device. screen rotating and brightness.
i am unable to find out what the kernel is doing with all it's time. but whatever the rom, it's doing something.
ps: not all tests were in this order or seperated as they are described.
better battery stats shows a few processes on top:
kworker/0:3
kworker/0:1
kworker/0:0
kworker/0:2
in this order
It was a hardware fault! Samsung replaced the planar, ... now it´s fine. Thanks to all replys and your help.
while i'm happy there is a solution i am wondering about the following:
how can software introduce a hardware fault?

[Q] In need of some help (About Radio/Cell Standby)

Hello!
I've searched for help on some threads and got no answer yet.. so I'm creating a new one, to see if i can finally find someone to help me!
Here is my problem:
Since 2 days ago, after flash a new version of the rom I use (I know this may have been caused by the updated, thats why I downgraded to check, and still got the problem), I noticed a battery drain. My phone loss 10% charge overnight(10h +-), on 100% deep sleep time (according to BetterBatteryStats) with everything off, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Mobile Data, 2G network, no apps running, etc. I searched for what was draining it, and found out that Cell Standby was active 100% of the time also. Did a search on BBS, and found out that 2 things were active, again, all the night: "No or Unknown Signal" and "No data conexion". Then, changed and tried some different modems. thinking that it was the problem (matching RILs also). I was wrong.. after testing 6-7 different modems, in all of them my phone still got the drain. After that, my last alternative was to think it was a carrier fault! Well, it wasn't.. Just bought 3 different carrier Chips to test all of them.. and yet, "No or Unknown Signal" , "No data conextion" and Cell Standby were there, in top of consumption list.
I hope someone can help me.. this drain is freaking me out, because before this issue, I was losing only 1-2% over night with Android 4.2.1!
Some info:
-Model: Int SGS3(gt-i9300);
-ROM: Latest CM10.1(4.2.1) kang by Temasek;
-Kernel: Temasek's Custom Kernel;
-Modem/Ril: XXELKC (matching);
-Carrier: TIM - Brasil (gsm = 1800);

Problem solved.. Just reporting here, someone may need ^-^
Here's what I did (ofc I don't really know this whole process is necessary, but it worked):
1. Mega Wipe Script (Formats the whole internal sd card; BE CAREFUL);
2. Flash stock 4.0.4 rom;
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset;
4. Flash CM10.1;
5. Discharged the phone completely (untill it doesn't boot anymore);
6. Charged the phone to 100%;
7. Yet with the AC plugged in, deletted batterystats.bin;
8. Turn the phone off;
9. Unplug the cable;
10. Boot phone :good:
This thing about deleting the batterystats.bin is not to calibrate battery, because it only containts data about processes and their battery consumption.
Was just a way to fix a wrong value the phone was getting from the Cell Standby, idk if the fix is there ^-^
Peace.
Basically two days is not long enough to recalibrate or test a battery .

Battery drain even when powered down

My touchpad has been draining battery even when off. You can see in the picture attached represented by the blank sections. The first blank section represents about a day of the device being off without use. And when I say off, I mean powered down through the menu, not just in sleep mode.
Anyone else seen this? Seems to be something that has recently started happening.
A little background, I was running one of the cm9 camera enabled nightlies, but wanted to try JC CM10 so used ACME Uninstaller to completely remove android. Then installed cm10 using ACME installer 3. Played with it for a few days then wiped and restored a cm9 backup instead to go back to ICS until cm10 battery is better. Since then, this battery drain has been happening even when off.
I didn't know something could be sucking battery even when device is off. Any ideas? Maybe I need to use unistaller again and start android install fresh again.

On the battery does it show what apps are consuning most battery? Did this barely start? Maybe it's an app that is constantly gathering info from online. I know my Hotmail app use to drain my battery so I had to go stock email

This is all the info it shows for battery info. And I'm not sure how it could be an app. The tablet is powered off completely. Shut Down.
It's really very strange.

Unfortunately it sounds like the battery might physically be going bad. How long have you had it and does it spend a lot of time plugged in while in use?

It's a JB thing. This happens as well on my Nexus 4. It's not a battery drain problem, but more so battery reporting is a little messed up. At least that's what I've read in the N4 section.
Boot into Webos, get Dr. Battery app from preware and read what the health is. Mine is at 93%, I've had it for a little over a year and brand new it read 95%. If you're losing juice even when its completley off, I'd expect your percentage to be much lower. There's also not much that can be done about it since you can't recalibrate a TP battery.
This issue has been discussed before. It is not necissarily a defective battery and in some cases is just simply a case of how the TP is being "shutdown" it was noted over at webos nation that in some cases the TP was failing to FULLY powering down...perhaps due to some location reliant apps that maybe continued scanning if shut down from within android...This AFAIK has never been confirmed however the issue has now been Solved for some users over at http://forums.webosnation.com/hp-to...tery-drains-when-off-webos-3-0-5-problem.html
Try the "fix" on page 6 to see if it solves your issue.. Hope it helps

I had this issue for months and decided to do some research to rectify the problem. My touch pad would lose charge from 100% to zero within ten days even when the device was turned off. Doesnt matter of i shutdown from cm or webos or moboot.
Here's what I did.
Basically I did a full clear reinstall of cm9 / cm10
1. Backup all apps and system data
2. Remove cm by using acmeuninstaller
3. Remove all folders (format) the hard drive
4. Restore webos to 3.0.0 using webos doctor
5. Reinstall cm
6. Restore backup data.
Afterwards I made some tests
Turned off touch pad at 100 percent each time from moboot cm and webos. Check back 4 days later. All good

Thanks for the reply. Here is what I have done to get a start fresh.
1. Remove cm by using acmeuninstaller
2. In WebOS, installed "Remove Android" from Preware to wipe remaining Android boot stuff.
3. Followed this guide to repartition and restore 3.0.0 WebOS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244
4. Factory reset to wipe everything again.
5. Performed system update to WebOS 3.0.5 (tried to upgrade through WebOS doctor 3.0.5, but would not boot. Restored back to 3.0.0 and went through System Update, and that worked fine).
What I plan to do this afternoon (didn't have time last night):
6. Install Preware, UberKernal, and GovNah (I like my WebOS to be at its fastest before a CM install, even if I never use WebOS)
7. Reinstall cm10 (JC Sullins 12/16), moboot 3.8.0, new CWM, and gapps using ACMEInstaller3.
8. Install apps fresh (don't really have anything where I need to restore data).
Once I do this, I'll run some tests where I leave it off for a couple days. I'll post back with results. Hopefully getting a fresh start will fix things like it did in your case.

Before I did all the wiping, I checked this and health is at 94%. So it shouldn't be a bad battery. I'll update on the results of the full CM and WebOS wipe.

Mine has been doing the same thing. When I turn it off and leave it for a day or so, I have battery loss. I thank it started when the camera was added to CM9.
I am looking forward to seeing your results.

I have three touchpads and did exactly as you. Afew of my observations:
1. the 94% does not appeared to be measured. It is the current Voltage (expressed as mA's)/manufactorers hard coded spec, (6612mAh). If in Android, (I'm onCM 10+camera+gyro), using Battery Monitor Widget, I can adjust the actual to 6100, (or anything else), and get 6039/6100=99%
2. My discharge rate on WebOS in Airplane mode was arround -613 to -850mA. Screen on, (brightness affects this).
3. My discharge rate on CM10 in Airplane mode is about -520mA!!
4. A PC's USB port puts out 500mA's!!!
5. On the touchstone, (doesn't seem to matter if WiFi is on or off), with screen on 1/3 brightness + Battery Monito Widget = +853 to 945mA
6. On HP charger & cable, same as above = +1,377mA
What suprised me was the greater drain in WebOS.
I've had this issue since the beginning of installing Android on both my TP. Really annoying but I always assumed it was because of Android since I had no problems with WebOS.
I get battery drain when leaving the device unused, but it's significantly lower than it used to be in early stages of cm9 and cm10 development. I find it to drain slightly faster than WebOS but you have to remember this device was not designed around android.
This has not been a discussion of power loss in an unused state. It is power loss in an "off" state. Powered down with neither WebOS or Android running.

After doing all the wipes listed above, I ended up just putting the newest CM9 nightly (with GAPPS) and moboot 035 back on instead.
Results. I believe these wipes have fixed my problem. Here are some of my results:
Turned off at 96% for 18 hours, still at 96 when I booted up.
Turned off at 77% for 12 hours, still at 76 when I booted up.
Turned off at 56% for 12 hours, still at 55 when booted up.
Before I would have lost about 10-15% over these same time periods. Not seeing the drop at all now. And all of these power downs were on the Android side so don't believe the hype about Android power-down being the problem.

I restarted from scratch and it worked. I turned my TP off for 2 days and the battery read 100% after boot. Thanks for the help.
Checking back after a few weeks, glad to see that the fresh install solved the issue for some of u guys
battery health 91 % DR battery
so this means my battey is going bad
had my tp for over a year now
is that normal ?
anyone ?
Not sure how you got that from this thread. Some people suggested it might be a bad battery, but I think our results with restoring our touchpads would show that wasn't the case.
Follow the steps in post 9 and everything should be good to go. Worked for me. No more battery drain issues while the device is off. I've even returned to CM10 and still no problems.
