Is it possible to flash back to Stock ROM without using SEUS? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have a very annoying problem:
My phone no longer registers when I plugin the usb-cable. It doesn't ask whether to go into usb-mode nor does it display that usb debugging is on. It is only possible to charge it and not to sync data.
Therefore I'd like to flash it back to a stock rom so I can get it repaired under the warranty. And since SEUS can't find my phone when it is connected, I need to find another way to do so.
So is it possible?

have u tried flashtool yet?
its under the development section

nopp charging and data goes in different cables.
Sent from my ARCified X10i with CM 7.0 RC1 2.3.3 Gingerbread

Have you first tried the following :-
1) Different usb ports some laptops and desktops have front/side usb ports so try a rear one
2) Different usb cable (if its the charge/usb cable that came with the phone it could be damaged or the wires bent/cracked due to over use plugging into charge and then using it as a data cable
3) Different PC just incase something is wrong with your own (corrupt driver etc)
I would try these things before you start if it will connect but only charge I'm guessing that the cable is maby broken
you could also try staring the X10i in safe mode power off power on and soon as it vibrates hold the down part of the volume button and keep holding this down until the phone boots up
This will give you a pretty basic mode (safe mode) with stock applications running no market downloads etc and then try connecting your usb cable up see if it works then ... you could have a rogue application that uses the usb for sync function like a media player etc!?

Wow, rude much. I was offering a solution that worked for me when I was having an identical issue. Because I was able to charge, flash mode still worked. Also, as stated above, changing USB ports can help. No need to get snarky

JimmyX10 is right, however..
The phone is ONLY able to charge over USB.. No flashing capabilities so far..
I've tried SEUS and the flashtool..
I've also tried:
3 different USB cables (also tested okay on my Optimus X2)
3 different computers
And a bunch of different USB ports..

BUMP
Does anyone have any good ideas?

Yes you can flash your rom without PC....
1-hope ur fone is rooted
2-xRecovery installed
3-Search dev section for stock rom xRecovery installation or request to upload the same for U..
4-transfer the xrecovery .zip file to ur card by card reader.
5-flash it through xRecovery...
I believe it will solve ur prob....

Try this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054818

i think theres no problem as long as you got your phone rooted and have the stock rom stored in your computer. then you can transfer the rom to your phone via an sd card reader. lastly install it using xrecovery. problem solved

[Q] Can't root my X10 - wtf?

Hi,
before you'll say something: i've done everything in every manual i've found, the Flashtool guide für noobies too.
My problem is, i can't root my X10, flashtool says and superoneclick (i have used every version i have found) said always that my phone is not plugged, but it is!!
At the moment i use the latest firmware, 2.1.A.0.435
So what can i do? Has anyone a simple trick?
greetz Cracker, and sorry for my bad english...
Are you sure you have connected your phone is flash mode....you have to hold the back button while you plug in your phone. The notification led will be green if you've done this right..

Make sure you have unknown sources and usb debugging enabled then try again with flashtool

USB Debugging is on, and i tested it also on flash mode, but it doesn't helped.
So, i don't know where's the problem
Oops..my bad...he asked about root
Try changing the usb port and then try rooting... the usb port was the problem in my case, it was recognising other usb devices but not my phone.
Also try installing SEUS first so that it installs the x10 drivers onto the pc.
Thanks for your help guys!
I have tested it on an other PC from my friend and it works perfectly, don't know why
My brother had a same problem, and we spend 2 hours to solve...
The problem is: pc companion or seus not installed before...

[Q] Goto Debugging mode without starting the phone

Hello,
I got the X10 from a friend cause it's not running.. The last thing he knew was that he updated the phone to the version 2.1.. he tried to!
Now it's only vibrating once you've pressed the Power-Button. Several tools didn't work. No repair option worked.
Now i wanted to flash the phone with the actual version of the Flash tool, but my problem is that it's saying that the flashin-process is aborted that i should go into the menu and enable debugging .. but i don't get into my phones menu, it doesn't start!
What should I do to solve the problem?
Thanks!
**
My main problem is that i need to set usb debugging mode but i'm not able to start my phone to enable usb debugging.
**
Think u may need to repair phone with seus and flash 2.1 back to phone using the phones fash mode

So I'm back, didn't have the time yesterday.
I tried to use PC Companion with the repair-option but there appears a Download error after connecting the phone, while it's trying to download the firmware or what else it wants to download.. it says that i should check my internet-connection but my connection is fine! I tried it several times. On the web, there are many of that problems..
@zekill62, thanks for you tip! What Firmware did you use and what Flashtool(-version)?
I only tried it out about 3 times .. After every flash-tryout I must remove the battery for about 10mins... i dont have the time to try it out 25times and spend a whole night for that
--> And finally : DON'T USE "OPTIMIZE" WITH CUSTOM ROMS (or don't be sleepy if your mouse is on it !)
I dont know what you mean, i dont have such an option "optimize" with custom roms
Does no one have any solution to solve my problem? The only thing I want is to get a new version installed/flashed to my phone so its starting.. can't enable usb debugging because the phone doesn't start.
thx again
Is ur battery charged? U might need to charge it with an external charger
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Yes it is charged. I have two batteries.
Same problem.. phone appears to be flashing with older version of flash tool but really slowly and eventually fails. Beta flash tool does nothing as it asks for debug mode.. debug mode was definitely on the last time my phone was working but it says its not...

My pc can´t recognize my X10i anymore ?!?

Hi forum.
I can see that i did my first post about this issue in the wrong forum proberbly, so now i try here instead...
I have a small problem with my X10i.
When i try to go into flash mode, no matter if it is with SEUS or PCC i get "hardware is not recognized" from my computer.
I have now tried on 5 different computers, all witch all can fine connect to my x10 mini, but all of them will not recognize my x10i...
I have tried all i can think off, i have tried to remove the "unknown hardware" from the computer, and many other things...
nothing works...
I have an old Trip version MIUI on the x10...
Actually i have just discovered that even if i try to mount usb storrage (the sd-card) in xrecovery, i get the same "unknown device"...
Not even when miui is started i can connect to my sd-card...
When the X10i is in flash mode i do not get the "SEMC USB Flash Device Detected", i get "unknown device detected" instead...
- and it fails to install drivers...
Pleace can you help me to solve this problem ??
Try the drivers included with flashtool.
Open your flashtool folder.
Open the "drivers" folder.
run "ggsetup-2.2.0.10.exe"
Leave your phone plugged in during installation.
No guarantees.
Thank you, but that didn´t do it eigther...
Can it perhaps be the USB-connector problem that so many people have had ??
The phone can charge the battery, but no data connection can be made...
hmmm...
The phone can charge the battery, but no data connection can be made...
Is it at all possible for the phone to still be able to be charged from the usb, but at the same time not to be able to make a data connection ??
ggsetup is for the flashtool, try it for that. try plugging your phone into your computer, and through the settings, unmount sd card, and then mount it. if this doesn't work, get the latest SEUS, it has official drivers http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ads/subject/pccompanion/xperiax10?cc=in&lc=en

On 2 of the computers i have tried today, i did download the latest SEUS and on the rest i allready had SEUS and PCC installed...
All of the computers are able to connect to my X10 mini (and my HTC Desire HD).
I have tried 3 different usb cables also...
At last i have also tried to unmount the sd-card as described...
I even can´t mount usb from within xrecovery...
But the phone works, and can be charged fine enough....
Hmmm...
can you take out your sd card and put it directly into your computer to see if it works?
and try uninstalling SEUS, then plugging it in
Sent from my Xperia X10-TripNRaVeR using XDA Premium App
Thank you so match for your answer...
1.
I can use the memorycard just fine in my computer, no problems at all...
2.
I have now tried to uninstall all S/E software and also the drivers, looked at all usb drivers and removed every one that had anything to do with S/E, cleaned the computer with cclean, rebooted the computer and then connected it again to the phone...
But still just after i plug in the phone i get a "unrecognized hardware" fault message...
I have then tried to install SEUS again, but still the same error...
The phone dont eigther show any usb-connection in the status bar at any time...
BTW...
I have never had any connection problems with this phone before...
So thats why i think that something has happened to it...

[Q][RESOLVED] Phone MEGA bricked - this is not a noob help topic!

Long story short - was running WB v3.9.0 Gingerbread on my x10, worked flawlessly... until my usb cable stopped working. Went out and bought a new one... Charged phone for 2 hours fine, tried to plug into PC to update to WB v4.0... PC didn't recognize my phone...
Tried downloading new drivers etc.. nothing worked. So i rebooted phone:
Surprise Surprise! SD Card is unmountable!
rebooted into xrecovery and did a factory reset/wipe of everything.
then tried to restore my backed up rom.... SD card unavailable...
Tried to manually mount sdcard, didn't work
Tried formating SD card - no luck there!
Now i'm stuck with NO ROM, no way to plug my phone into my computer to download a ROM, a constant bootloop with no firmware and a crappy replacement nokia...
Any help would be MUCH appreciated! (other than taking it in to repair) I don't know if my warranty will cover this much destruction...
EDIT: called up my service provider (3 australia) and they immediately agreed (to my utter delight and complete surprise) to swap my handset for a brand new HTC Desire HD...
It's a shame i'm now leaving the x10 forums - i really did love the phone, but for an offer like this i don't think many people would refuse the trade.
Thanks everyone for your help and input and see you (or not) on the Desire HD forums

What version of xrecovery are you using?? Is the latest one which is gingerbread fix? The version that is not fix for gingerbread have that problem with mounting sd card. So try the latest from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571&highlight=xrecovery
Another question: did you try with flash tool? maybe in flash mode your phone will be recognized.
try to put your SD card into a card reader and copy the existing data to your computer.
then format the SD card with Panasonic SD Formatter - I can't include the URL as I'm a new member. Just google it.
After formatting the SD card, put all data you copied to your PC back on the SD card and try again.
Maybe it works, I had a similar problem and could fix it as detailed.
if not...phew...good question...
can you get in flash mode? well if you can then reflash using SEUS
and search for drivers in forums.
did u try the flashtool to flash it bak to 2.1 SE rom ? i faced the same problems like u b4..
if u stil can access into xrecovery , u can try this

It connects in flash mode, but my computer doesn't read the usb connection in order to flash... neither does any other computer :S
actually i still don understand wat u mean by pc cant read the connection... when u start to flash ur phone bak to 2.1 SE generic rom, ur phone should be having a green light led right ? is the flashmode aborted at the half way bak or totally there is no connection at all?
sorry for asking so much, bcoz i faced this problem b4..i would like to help u too...
Hey, I also had same problem with my sd card. I couldn't mount it via xrecovery also The solution is very very simple You just have to buy a sd card reader. It coasts less than 1 euro. You will have to format your sd card, then copy someones zip with ROM and your phone is repaired
I'm stuck in the same boat. When I lug my phone in it says " USB Device not recognized." In device manager on my computer it says, "The USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows doesnt recognize it."
the phone goes into flash mode but the phone is not recognized in flashtool!

SEUS wont recognize the phone!!
u might want to try the phone on a differrent cpu /laptop and run flashtool again.
Some cpus just dont want to detect. I have a few cpus i know,i do all the stuff on my win7 laptop cos its the one that does not give me any problem. one thing the laptop is original win7 64bit,the rest of the cpu is pirated xp,maybe thats why.
try it .
tried it on 2 different PCs, same frikkin error!
Have you downloaded the latest USB drivers and latest sues. My phone could not be found till I did that.

My problem is getting the computer to even recognize that the phone is plugged in. It's not even giving me a message saying 'device not recognize', it's totally ignoring it. Therefore i can't use SEUS to reflash the phone as when i plug in my phone in flashmode it doesn't read it.
As for formatting my sd card - that's not the problem... i have 2 sd cards (one brand new that i bought as a spare) and i tried both and neither of them worked - something seems to have happened to the actual hardware of the phone
I'm taking it in to repair tomorrow - this is the second x10 that's done this... maybe it's my computer?

Also - i can't find a link to the drivers on the forums anywhere - but i honestly doubt that's the problem - the phone was working 100% yesterday.
This may be out of the box but have you tried looking at the USBSTOR in your registry?
I had a problem before that my phone is not being detected by my laptop because of that. Just set it to 3 to enable it.
are u sure the cable you bought is a data cable not a charging only cable? Maybe the cable had a defect? also if the cable that went bad is the stock one see if the tip if bent. if the tip is bent try to make it straight.

1st make sure which one is the problem, is it from the phone or from the pc. have u try to put the cable in other usb port on your pc?
Try to re-flash your rom once again. If that is not working too, reboot your phone in cwm. make sure the cable is connected between your phone and the pc, then select mount and usb in cwm. select mount usb. see if this working for you.
<-----If i helped u
Thanks for your answer but I've already tried all those options... I'm deseperate now. :/

Does it charge when the USB cable is plugged in? E.g. does the phone state that it is recharging?
If in Windows, check if the device manager (Start Button > Right-click on Computer > Properties > Device Manager) still detects 'something' on the USB port, if you see a yellow exclamation mark, perhaps reinstall the drivers for your phone. (Flashtool comes with drivers IIRC). In any case, it might be worth a try to run SEUS with the phone disconnected, then it'll offer a 'repair' option, after which you must select your type of phone and connect it, hopefully the tool does not rely on the same driver. This would flash stock rom and stock kernel to your phone.
Should this fail, if your battery and WiFi still work, perhaps you can engineer a solution that downloads a new ROM over WiFi. You could upload it to your Google drive and download through the app or just use the internet browser. Then use a file manager like Root Explorer to move the files to the correct location on the SD-Card. Boot it into CWM and flash the new ROM and see if it helps.
Is the stock SE cable???, have you tried with another cable???
I have the same problem with the SE cable, my phone don't connect correctly with my PC, it disconnects automatically or never work...
Actually I'm using a Samsung cable for use the phone with my PC and works perfectly.
