Hi.
Has anybody had a root around with the Navionics chart app?
I am generally quite impressed, but have a question / challenge.....
Does anybody know where the wind data is downloaded to and read from?
I think the data is a GRIB file from NOAA. If is, I was wondering of I could download other, bettet, GRIBS and read those instead?
Cheers,
John

it adds wind direction arrows on the map, tough they are really hard to see. tapping arrows will give speed and direction info.
I'm running this on Desire Z. GPS seems to have serious issues whit this app. just cant locate me :/ Google maps works fine whit gps.. or is it that this doesn't use phone towers for added accuracy and google maps uses?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows why I can't use google navigation (in Belgium)?
Also there seem to be no good gps softwares on the arket for legend.
I can't drive my car WATCHING google maps 'my location' without clear directions/spoken.
Any advise appreciated!
Another thing that is not possible is voice recognition, hos is it possible that HTC decided to block this on Legend? Unbelievable!
Thanks!
Navigon, Sygic, iGo... pretty good imo
try CoPilot.. it´s not free but close TomTom. maps are available for almost everywhere
I am using NDrive
I bought iGo and I must say, its pretty good, its fast, it fixes the position in seconds and I just love it
I was hoping that by the time Ill by my Legend, there will be tom tom for android, but theres not ... so
best one for me is the sygic, very similar to tomtom and very reliable.

Because Google didn't enable it yet for Belgium (it's only available in US & UK).
You could always install Brut's hacked Google Maps, which enables Google Nav for unsupported countries ;-)
sygic is the best!
Navigon
I have a very good experience with Navigon for Android.

Well, I did install a "workarounded" maps found somewher on this forum, and apart from the fact that it unexpectedly did a total makeover of my phone, it only is another way to find out that Google Maps is not supported in BeNeLux.
You can choose routing, only to get a message from google that maps is not (yet) supported for my region.
Presumably routing needs additional data from google or they found a way to block access again.
I guess the latter, as I tried to travel around in the US with the same result.
I had the exact same problems (also got belgium HTC Legend without voice recognation and navigation) BUT: you can get it working farly easy.
Here is a link to the google navigation BRUT mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887
Brut.all made the google navigation work everywhere even in Belgium.
And since 18/05 it even has voice guidance.
For the Voice recognation (Voice Search) I've uploaded the one that works for me on megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AV5QM1CZ
If that doesn't work try searching google for voice search apk. I've tried at least 10 since I found one that wasn't giving me an error.
I'm using Navigon and I'm really happy with that..
copilot
I didnt think irealand was big enough to warrant a satnav (jus kidin) i am using copilot cracked iff anyone wants the apk file pm me i find it by far the best one around i have tried most. All you need is the apk once installed it dloads current maps automatically and also speed cameras.
iGo is great.

I'm pretty sure I've already posted this, but I can't find it, so I'm posting again.
So I installed sygic, but it won't load any maps even though they are in the right directory "/Maps/xxx/xxx.pak".
I also tried "/maps/xxx/xxx.pak" and "/maps/xxx.pak", but ut doesn't work.
Anyone's got a solution for this ?
nobody ? __
when using the correct *.mlm file it should work *.mlm file is in maps folder...
you better could look here for more info and how to's

I'm using mapdroyd. It's free and has plenty of maps around the world (two downsides yet: 1. It doesn't have a tool to search for an address or a point of interest. 2. It doesn't support active navigation -i.e. it won't tell you to turn right or left in the next street-).

I see RMaps is not mentioned here yet. I use it when I'm out of the country and want to quickly find out where I am, it can use offline maps downloaded on a PC (stored in some kind of sql database file which speeds things up a lot!), navigation works when there is data connection available, offline maps do support POI's and they can be edited/added/removed on-the-go.
Map downloads support Google maps, MS maps, Yahoo maps, Yandex Maps etc.
Also supports map orientation (direction/compass)
Not ideal for use while driving, but rules for traveling on foot! ^_^
For me,the only app that works wherever/whenever
I need it using only GPS On (Data Tranfer Disabled) is iGo,so far!
I ll try some others and post the results here!

Ndrive works great.
TomTom Gps will soon come to android
Sygic, the only that works on my x8, it can navigate offline

Hey..
Since, Google Navigation doesn't work here in India, I was wondering if there's any Sat Nav app, for India, available to download in the Android Market.
I use LG Optimus One by the way!
anyone help, please??
Try Aura on Market.

NDrive
Use NDrive which should be pre-installed, mine had it and works like charm...
Thanks guys for your reply!
@patil: I tried using NDrive but it would always hang, I don't know why!
I would definitely try Aura.
Google navigation in India
Does work. Get Maps (but)
Google navigation
Sorry. Should be Maps (brut) Go to options brut. Select international navigation.
I use Navitel with maps ported from Garmin in pakistan. Works like a charm. if you can find maps. i think navitel uses navteq maps which garmin also uses. and navteq also provides maps for india, so google for it. i'm sure you'll come up with something good.
God helps those who help themselves.
No spoon-feeding on XDA-Developers
Satnav for India
Please use "WAZE" . it is using the Satnav maps in background. It is very good. It works without any issue.

Moving to Q&A
I use brut.all google maps non rooted version and it works great here in India .
Would like to try out Waze but I guess the real time traffic updates are limited to metros where more people share traffic updates.
Still a good concept though !!
I'm wondering if there is a good application for my droid that will use the GPS to get me around with a preloaded map database so that it doesn't rely on me having a data connection.
Edit: did some research, looks like osmand and mapdroyd are the best choices. Any user opinions on which is better and why?
Thanks,
PEZ
Google maps works well for a *basic* map, newer versions can cache the map.
Thanks but I was looking for something that could do TBT navigation as well.

Are you using the Android Market app to try and download google maps? If so try accessing the android market from your phone's built in web browser instead. Download google maps from your browser onto your SD card and install it manually.

Does ask others on a development forum to help you be dumb and disrespectful toward software developers. $20 is cheap.

Hi
I've only just got the S3 and have a question regarding locations.
The phone has upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and I'm connected to the internet using wifi.
When I click on the google search and ask 'what's the weather like' it shows me the weather for my nearest city about 20 miles away.
If I go into maps and click location it shows the correct location.Near enough any way.
In google if I search for local pizza restaurants I get results from the USA... I'm in the UK.
So three different location are shown depending on what I'm doing..
Anyone know how solve that ??
As a slight side issue, the time on my phone is correct, but the default weather app is showing as 1 hour ahead.. any ideas ?
Thanks

The location thing happens to me when I am using AOSP based ROM's. But on Samsung rom's it's always precise.
