EDIT: Per the suggestions, I downloaded and can confirm it seems pretty amazing. A big learning curve though, doesn't seem intuitive. Working on that.
I Really would like to start using this app, but the permissions seem crazy to me. Everyone's thoughts? Am I just paranoid? The developer seems very legit and know's whats up... fan of XDA too... so, probably nothing, but I am so skeptical when an app needs so much (though, given the power of the app, it sorta makes sense)
This application has access to the following:
Services that cost you money:
directly call phone numbers
Network communication:
full Internet access
Your personal information:
read sensitive log data
Storage:
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
System tools:
disable keylock,
retrieve running applications,
reorder running applications,
modify global system settings,
prevent device from sleeping,
display system-level alerts
Your accounts:
discover known accounts
Hardware controls:
control vibrator
Network communication:
view network state,
view Wi-Fi state
System tools:
automatically start at boot,
expand/collapse status bar,
set preferred applications,
read sync settings
NOW... with all that said, look at the beauty you can create:

Hmm.. quick widget access?
I think you are just being paranoid. It's obviously a widely used app and as you can see a wonderful app to have.
If this was an unknown dev I would say do some research.
Thanks for this didn't know widgetlocker had themes!

yea like i have power amp so i put that widget there i also have my weather widget there also you can choose a different wallpaper aside from the one your phone has
I have been using it for a week or so now. I love having my fancy widget with weather on my lock screen but I get more use out of the Pandora Widget. control my music without having to unlock my phone when I pull it out of my pocket. added a slider for some things and its awesome. check out my layout i think it came out great personally.
How do I use the theme?

I've had it for a while but stopped using it, it would often default to system lockscreen and it runs in bg using resources, but it is pretty.PS. why are my screenies teh suck?
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

Cool! Thanks for posting this. I'm just not sure exactly how to use apply these themes. What exactly do we do with the .zips?
I want this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11817549&postcount=69
1. go the app menu and open widget locker (will not work from an already locked state )
2. Long press on open space
3. Select "Custom Slider"
4. click the drop down box to select a different slider from those installed or select "get themes" and download them directly.
5. customize the slider before you select "save"
EDIT: http://widgetlocker.teslacoilsw.com/themes-doc/installing-themes/ <-- how to install
Nvm we need 2.0 version lol
Alright, downloaded it... it looks like there is a little bit of a learning curve on this app. I will try reading the guides already out there and see if I can give a readers digest version later.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and love it. I got it specifically for keeping the audiogalaxy app on the locker as to have quicker access to pause or stop music. I have also grown fond of the rotary lock as well.
I've been using Widget Locker for months and I've never had a problem. I've just discovered the theming aspect of it so I'm excited to get into that. I'm wanting to theme the rotary and the normal android tabs like the lockscreens in Bionix 1.3, hopefully it turns out well! If someone's already done this, let me know where to find it
Here is my first attempt.....
Not perfect.

As many are aware the new Max-Sense Manilla Mod for windows devices isint perfect, but there are many things that do give it a nice feel. I thought i would open this thread to help in posting bugs/things that could be better or more intuitive.
Let start guys, if there are some helpful comments in this thread ill be happy to add them to the OP as suggestions. Please post what you would like changed or made better, and keep flaming out of the question.
Personally What I'd like to see added in future updates:
Internet link widgets for the homepages
The ability to have more than one blank widget
Live Facebook widget, kinda like the sense tab
Sync Calender with Facebook events
Would like to see a picture Slideshow widget..
i'd like to see the memory and battery widgets have assignable actions, ex when you touch the memory widget it opens ark switch, taskmanager, clean ram, or a program of your choice, and battery would open the power settings, etc.
i would like to see more favorite people widgets
i would like the option to change the max sense taskbar from just minimized, maximized, or none to the windows default taskbar as well
i would like the backup/restore script that beegee_tokyo created implemented into the menu under max sense settings
i would like to be able to press the whole widget for your notifications to take you to the sense tab not just the icon.
it would be nice if the left soft key in the home screens was easily assignable, some people like have the start menu assigned or an app of choice.
i wish the back hard key did somthing, even if it just sent you to the homescreens instead of actually backing up.
i'm not trying to be negative in any way, i absolutely love max sense and all of the work everyone has put into it, but these are all features i think everyone would appreciate
lastly just somthing that came to mind would be a notes widget
I have not tried it. I am still waiting for the author to get back to me about being able to use it my roms. As soon as i am able to use i will let you know. Thanks

+1 for these, especially the "press the whole widget, not just the icon" one. I though my installation was broken until I figured out that you have to push the icon, not the number (eg. missed calls)
My personal feature request would be the ability to insert a table of quicklinks into one of the three main home screens, rather than only on the home button flick left action.
i.e. To fill-in the empty left screen of my theme here:

I agree...I'd love to have my pictures at my main screen and be able to scroll like favorite contacts.....
Okay i have used every ROm on this planet and so far MAX is the most intuitive yet. Here are a few issues i have come across...
1- when returning from a tab based application there is a pause or slight hesitation where the notification bar return to back to the max sense appearance
2- all max sense ROMS are having the small MMS issues and for some reason the quick fix works and then doesn't and reverts back to the original settings
3-MAJOR battery eating - although i did notice when removing all the tmobile crap and the facebook tab that it was a HUGE success on saving batter...Now after one day of minimal use and testing often i was able to have 80% battery !!
4- I think that the Favs. widget could be smarter...quick sms mms or email buttons should or could be applied
thats all for now im sure I will have more ideas soon....thanks devs for making my windows phone make the iphone look retarded ....Nothing better then to see my buddy who just got the iphone 4 and then is caught staring at my HD2...And i know exactly what he's thinking...what phone is that? Phone envy is a sin i say....haha
well.. when we put a new widget, for example want to put a music player widget.. i put it but I want to choose a specific widget (of music player) to put.
So I want to have the option for me to choose what widget I want to put, and not put one itself that maybe i dont like it
On all my previous phones, I've been able to make a widget shortcut to settings (Bluetooth). Since I've got this phone, there isn't that option anymore. Are there any suggestions on how to do this? There used to be an app that could do such a thing, but I forgot the name.

The only thing I can remember about the really old app is its icon was of a little cottage with a mushroom. As for the suggestion, it worked. I wish that it was strictly a shortcut and not also a toggle. The old app, you could create a shortcut to just about anything, even dialer code settings that are hidden from normal users. It was called any cut. Doesn't work with this phone. Last update was 2008.

Easiest answers for me are power toggles or similar app, which allows you to stick pretty much anything on your homesreen (battery percentage, bluetooth, volume, endless). Other is to utilize a shortcut from a launcher alternative, such as Nova, Apex, Holo, sSlauncher, &c.
Zooper, UCCW, Pop-up Widget, all allow settings shortcuts.
Hope this helps.

How does a person create a theme and then use it? I'd like to have very specific things on my theme but other than adding to an existing theme, i can't seem to take away from an existing theme, how do I create a new one from scratch?
I know they say watch the vid but if you are like me you need to see it in writing,it makes more sense to me that way.Anyway the easiest way is to grab a theme and change it around/edit,get a feel for the program then create your own by changing wallpapers, icons, weather etc.A lot of themes now won't let you edit them I have found, however download any of mine and edit away they are all editable,as are a few more posted here but names don't spring to mind, none in my opinion are any better or worse than each other they just have their own little attributes that makes them unique in their own way.So go on and play around m8,it will be fun.

Thanks, I cannot stand those youtube videos that "show" you how to do things. I find them tedious and unusable. I'd rather just get some instructions, an application and let me do it. Yet, so many seem to post "youtube instructions" i write this stuff for a living and have never found a video more useful than written instructions. However, that's my bias.
I'll go check out some of yours.
I agree with your assessment that NONE of the themes I've downloaded have been editable. I don't want to ADD more widgets and icons to a theme. I just want to start with a blank canvas and let me do it.
Yet, if all these themes exist, HOW were they created? I'm really not going to watch a youtube video. There has to be a building application somewhere. Not re-engineer something already there.
One question, when you say "download mine" where do I find yours. None of the ones I've seen through the application say who created them.
mine and others are in the screenshots and themes forum beneath the general discussion.I agree fully with the video and much prefer to read it as I find it more followable, but again I suppose that is my bias too.You can start almost fresh, grab a theme as posted earlier, then delete everything,if the theme uses everything widget this is simple to do,just press screen and choose remove, then change the wallpaper by selecting your own then simply add you own widgets etc via the inbuilt everything widget (although this isn't as stable as it could be) or download widgets from playstore etc then add them, hope this helps apologies if I seem to waffle on.

Hi sanjsrik,
I'm the one who made the YouTube tutorial videos, so I apologize if they weren't that informative. Those were created in the beginning just to give people a basic understanding of what Themer was about.
Alldroid is correct in saying that starting with a fresh blank theme is the best, then just seeing what works and what doesn't. My advice would be learn more about Zooper Widget, as a lot of the newer themes use it, and it's brilliant. That's all Themer is essentially, a wallpaper, some widgets, and maybe some icons if you're feeling brave. We do recommend making the grid size quite large, in order to make the widget resizing easier. you might also notice that the new themes include incredibly detailed icons, these are in fact Zooper fonts, so as mentioned play around with the Zooper widgets found in the new themes.
If you need help/ideas feel free to ask, I'm always here to help!

It isn't that the video isn't informative,it probably is but some people including myself prefer to read it via a text file or maybe a pdf file

Marco,
I would definitely go for it... though I am more of a "hands on" student and for learning I need to hear the stuff (that's how I learned all the stuff during college - my wife reading the material and me laying down and just listening - damn, she was so furious when I got the same grades as she did... ;o]]]), the text might help you gain more audience among those "give-me-a-manual-and-shut-up" types.
You have created a superb product for the tinkerers so a step further in the direction of a superb customer/user support would be a definitive nod in the right direction.
I personally would like more short video tutorials on specific features, how they work, what is their purpose and the mechanics (Yeah, you guessed it, I am not that familiar with design and graphics;o]) and maybe a tut on the 'codes' for custom formats of zooper widget.
well and maybe few more videos with theme designers like the one you guys did with GeriArts would also be inspiring... ;o]]]
another definate yes here too thanks, would make it a more better product in my opinion.

I promise I am NOT complaining. I promise I am NOT criticizing. I am just asking the question, WHAT is Themer?
from everything I understand, it's not a true "application", it's a wallpaper that then people can add widgets that "do" things.
if this is the case, HOW are these widgets "locked" where they can't be changed in a lot of the wallpapers I've downloaded.
THAT is my only question.
Oh, and how come there's not a "builder" application for Themer?

No worries we weren't offended by your comments, we're just trying to make everyone's theming experience as easy possible.
Themer is a launcher. Just like TouchWiz, Nova, Apex, ssLauncher, etc. It's a link between the hardware and software, you could think of it as the body/shell of a car. The car can have a different shell, and with Themer, it's shell can be customized in seconds.
Calling it a wallpaper with widgets doesn't really do it justice, as a launcher incorporates your app drawer as well, and maybe some more features arriving soon.
One thing to remember is that Themer, once stripped to its core, it a launcher, just like the rest. By that we mean you're able to edit/add/remove widgets, change wallpapers, change the icons (icon pack support arriving soon), etc. To unlock widgets, hold down on the homescreen - Advanced - Unlock Widgets. Repeat the process to lock them, or alternatively you can go into the main Themer settings - Advanced - Desktop - enable Lock Desktop Widgets.
Whenever the widgets/icons are unlocked, this can be called the "builder" mode, as you can add/remove/edit widgets and icons.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the constructive email.
I think the biggest confusion anyone has with your "application" is that it doesn't seem like an application. It really does sound like a wallpaper with widgets. For example:
* Is there the ability to add groups for grouping together like kinds of applications?
* Can I add my own icons for applications?
Think GoLauncher or some other such "launcher" application that exists.

1. With Themer, you can add in Smart Category folders. For example the Games Category, when you install a new game, it will show up in this category and then whichever theme has a games folder, this new game will automatically appear. This saves a lot of time, but you can also manually add in your own categories or manually add in your own apps to a category.
2. Icon pack support is still limited. If you have icons on the homescreen, these can be edited manually. Some icon packs are supported, but you can also set them to other images in your gallery.

YES! I watched many of the videos and I'm still very much confused. I have specific ideas for what I want, and although I can figure some things out on my own by trial and error, reinventing the wheel is both time-intensive and tiresome.
Also, I am glad to hear that icon pack support is on the list. Although my plans include heavy use off the app drawer, I'd like to have the icons in there be pleasing to my eye as well as the ones on my home screen.
It's a great product, one that I've already suggested to several friends. I just am more demanding than the "average bear".

most icon packs by default don't work with themer, but there is a way round this although you will need to manually change the icons you want to use.
Download apk extractor from Playstore
download the icon packs you want to your device
using apk extractor extract the apk of the icon pack you downloaded, this file will be stored on your device main storage in the apk extrat folder.
Attach your device to your laptop etc, then drag the extracted apk icon pack to it
rename the icon.apk and change the apk extension to zip
open with your favourite zip program
then simply extract the icon file images
this thread helped a lot
I got Themer today, and I really love how a lot of them look, but I ended up sticking with my plain stock because I like to have most things on the home screen in folders. I tried making a folder, but it didn't work.
Are there any themes that incorporate folders? Did I just do it incorrectly or are they not an option? I realize you can go into apps, and then use the categories, but I'd much rather have them on my home screen.
Plus, if I have an app, like my flashlight, that I really need on my home screen for accessibility, it's kind of obnoxious against the pretty, cohesive theme, and sticks out. If there was a folder I could stick it in on the home screen that matched the rest of the theme, it would look better. Does that make sense? I might just be rambling now.
It's a really cool app though, I like that you can do these things without rooting, I didn't realize that was possible. (My noob is showing... )

Hi Lumosx,
With Themer, there are multiple ways of adding folders.
First, you can drag and drop apps from the app drawer onto one you've already added. To do this:
1. Drag an app onto the app drawer that you'd like in your folder.
2. Then drag another app next to it; a popup may appear asking you to unlock widgets.
3. Select Yes and open the Desktop menu and deselect Lock homescreeen Icons.
You're now able to drag icons into one another, creating folders accordingly.
Alternatively, you can use Smart Category folders. These are the categories you see in the app drawer, and adding one of these does come with some advantages. To add one:
1. Long press on the homescreen > Advanced > Desktop > Unlock homescreen Icons.
2. Long press on the homescreen > Smart Categories > choose your preferred category.
3. Tap the icon > Select the overflow icon (3-dot icon) > Manage, in order to manually add/remove apps.
Now this category will be saved for every theme that you use.
To change the look of a folder (with both methods), long press on the icon > Edit > then select an icon either from selected packs or a simple image. Let us know if you need to find an image/icon to match your theme.
Hope this helps!

I got it to work, thank you very much! I'm very happy with it now.
One more question: The only issue I have now is that there's one particular widget that tells me it's already added when I try to put it on the screen, but it's not actually there. Do you know what the problem could be? It came with the phone (Walkmate) if that matters.

What's your device and the widget called? We want to see if we can replicate this issue.
Also does it happen with all themes or one specific theme?
Lastly, is there room for the widget? What may happen is that a widget might take up the whole screen, not allowing for any widgets to be added. Deleting all the widgets on the page and try to add this widget will help us figure out what's causing the problem.
I have a Galaxy S3, the widget is Walkmate. It should fit, it's small and I have at least half the screen free. I tried when the screen was blank as well. The theme is Frosted Glass. I tried using a random theme as well and it still didn't work (it was Hi-Tech).
It's not a huge issue or anything.
How/where can I get one? I need it on my home screen. I have XtroLite 1.2.2. The BT widget should open the BT settings. Thank you.

I don't agree with you. This is the the theming and apps forum for GS S5. A widget is part of a theme or an app so I do consider that this is the right place. Anyways, thank you. I found in the Play store what I needed.
Moderators, if you find my post not appropriate for this forum please move it or delete it. Thank you.

Sorry you don't agree. But again...in any case a lot of useless posts being posted in lieu of using Google...your best friend or simply search the Forum posts. My 2c. Happy to have helped.
With all due respect for the fact that you have 10 times more posts than me and without rambling about the free internet and expression I'm going to say only that. This is a moderated forum and would be nice if only moderators can judge and act if this is a useless post or not.
By the way do you know how to resize a widget which is fixed and Nova cannot resize it. It is labeled as 1x1 but it way bigger than the other widgets (playstore - widget bluetooth by greenlos).
Thanks and have a good one.

I'm not here to judge. I'm here to help. Let's start over. The KISS method. Keep it simple (I won't say the last, since it wasn't intended)
Instead of a widget per se, how about a shortcut. Go to your widgets and look at settings shortcuts and simply create a shortcut to Bluetooth. That should work. That should give you the same size as all your icons I would think. I use this method a lot, such as direct message or direct phone call shortcuts to certain contacts I want immediate access to, instead of opening a phone app or a message app. In nova, you can drag down to the dock too. Hope that helps.....Sorry again if you took my posts the wrong way. Not here to judge.
No worries. I didn't take it personally. We're all good.
Well the KISS method didn't work. The Bluetooth Widget from Playstore installed as a widget. I cannot find it in the apps drawer nor in the shortcuts list. It is only available through the widgets list. This widget has a double function which I like it. One tap turns on/off BT and double tab enters the settings for BT but unfortunately it is double in size than the others and it looks really ugly. Nova does not give me the option to edit it so I cannot change the icon with another one. I may have to look for another option.
Thanks for your help.

You misunderstand what I suggested. Let me open Nove and give you step by step. IOW...you don't have to use the Playstore widget. You use a direct shortcut setting instead.
EDIT: I have Nova Prime, but the XNote ROM is acting weird. I can use TW launcher, create a shortcut looking at the widget selections to Settings:Bluetooth and that works. IOW go to the settings choice and then all the various settings choices open up. Choose BT and then you have a direct shortcut to BT on your desktop. Yeah it's nice the single tap vs double tap the playstore app gave you, but you can't resize the 1x1 unless you get into editing the widget itself, and I won't go there here. But with Nova, you long press the screen and choose shorcuts, then settings then BT and I get app isn't installed? Weird.
I didn't.
If I can find a shortcut to the BT settings would be great but I tried and got permission denied.
The reason why I'm looking for this kind of widget with double function is that I have all the time BT devices around me (10-15 all in total). They're everywhere and accessing through settings takes one more click and I also have the problem that I don't associate visually the settings icon right away with BT so I'm going all over the place for it.
You're right though. Finding a way to place a shortcut on the home screen is easier than modifying the apps icon size and shape.
Another solution would be if i can find a way to create a shortcut for the BT quick setting.

Touch wiz launcher lets me do this. Nova doesn't and Holo doesn't. Try what I say to see. In settings change default launcher back to Touch Wiz. Then scroll the widgets for settings. Open that up and create a desktop BT shortcut. You should see all your devices simply opening that up. I don't know why the other launchers are creating havoc. Guess it's a Kit Kat thing. Don't know.
Edit: Hang on...I think I May have a fix., It is a KK thing that google messed around with permissions. Testing something.....
Thank you. We'll do.

Didn't work. I have some urgent stuff I need to get too. All I know is prior to 4.4 this wouldn't be an issue, in the reading I have done. I thought I found something that would allow to edit the permissions to run called com.findsdk.apppermission on Playstore. But looking at that I could not find anything to actually go from off to on(allow). So that said, it's either 1. a larger widget. or 2. Touchwiz launcher that allows a BT shortcut. If I think of anything, I'll try to get back. I even hoped it would be a SU (superuser) easy fix...but nope. Anyway...I don't like being beaten by an issue such as this...so I will keep it on the backburner.....:good:
No problem.Thank you again.
