Does anyone have a preferred car home app that they use in the car dock? I'm not a fan of the default app and haven't found a great replacement.
Bonus request: Anyone have the Google Car Home apk they can post?

I bought the car mount for my Vibrant but I hate the Samsung Car Home App -- does anyone know of a Google Car Home apk that works on 2.1?
I use the Vlingo car home screen, it's on the widget, tap the little car. It's not that pretty, but it is unparalleled in its usefulness.
So i have the official 2.2 update, and also the car home 2 application that includes audio out support for the samsung car dock.
Im just curious if anyone has been able to stream pandora using this combo?
It seems the home button is disabled when using car home, so i cannot go back and launch pandora once i am using car home.
anyone else experienceing this issue, or perhaps have a solution for it?
thanks in advance!
i would say to load pandora first then go to car home and then if you need to change the station or something just drag down the notification bar and click on the pandora notification and then just press back when your done, simple. hope i helped
Evo 3D when placed in car dock from Sprint goes into Car App automatically.
Any way to do -
1) Chage the GPS app - have CoPilot would prefer to use insted of Google Navigation.
2) Access music app to play music on phone.
Thanks for any ideas or solutions.
You can get a variety of car dock apps in the Market that allow you to add the apps that you want so you can run them while in Car Dock mode. The best one that I've found (and I've tried quite a few) is Car Home. It has a 30 day free trial and then is $1.99 if you want to purchase it. There are others that are free but ad supported.

Not sure if I understand your question, but here goes:
I have the Car Home app as mentioned by the previous post. You can select which app shortcut show up on the screen. It also has the option to scroll through multiple screens. Each screen to the left will have your speedometer, temperature, and compass heading.
When you place your phone in your dock, Car Home automatically launches. You press your music app shortcut (if you selected it to appear) and it will launch. Once launched, you can return to the Car Home panel by pressing the Home key on your phone. You can do that endlessly for every app in the Car Home panel.
So for instance on a drive to work I dock the phone. Car Home appears. I launch Google Music. It starts playing. I then touch the Home button on my phone. It returns to the Car Home while the music still plays and the Car Home panel displays my speed and direction. I get close to some gas stations. I launch the Gas Buddy shortcut and make my entries. I press the Home button to return to the panel. On and on.
Cool thing about Google Music is when i undock the phone, it shuts itself off.
And when you undock the phone, Car Home closes and returns you to your home screen.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the responce!
That is excatly what I needed to know.
Sounds like the app I need.
I know this is a new phone, but I want to be able to launch the car app without buying the Motorola Dock from Sprint. I already have a car mount that works and a charger. Is there a way to launch the car app? Any ideas?
Thanks
I believe I read that there are two magnets in the car dock that facilitate making the app open up once you plug the Photon into the dock. I can't seem to find that post but mentions this, but you could probably simulate the Car dock app by using another program such as Custom Car Home and add the links to apps represented in the car dock app such as contacts, navigation, google search etc etc

I had a Droid X and loved the car dock app that came with it. Now I have the RAZR Maxx and just hacked my old physical car dock to fit the new phone. Unfortunately the car dock app doesn't load, the phone just charges. I'm even using the same wiring that was inside the dock but it just acts like i plugged it in to the normal car charger. Does anyone know a way to open the car dock app manually?
Search in Google Play Store free app called Razr Dock or you can type there com.redsulfur.razrdock
I saw RAZR Dock before but it looks like it just loads Desk mode, or is there no difference? I've actually started using Car Home Ultra and really like it but car mode would still offer some additional features.
You can try install Android System Info app (com.electricsheep.asi) - there you have Apps tab where you can try to search oryginal car dock app and lunch it.

Have you tried using SmartActions to automatically open the car dock mode when you plug it in? SmartActions, I know, can be set to open certain applications or phone modes when you do certain things to it or it detects that it is any sort of docking mode.
This works -- there's even a default SmartActions widget called "Drive" that you can use to configure how you want to trigger Vehicle mode as well (tap on the left of the widget to launch car mode, tap on the right to configure car mode).
With that being said, though, I think the SmartAction triggers are a little limited, so I do the same with Tasker -- when my phone is charging + landscape mode, it launches the desk clock; charging + landscape mode + Bluetooth connected launches the vehicle mode.
