It looks like a great app. the developer only tested it on his DroidX, and heres what happened when i tested it on my Vibrant (a Nexus user reported the same problem):

downloaded and it opens and adds apps to the ongoing just fine...however if i click on a button, nothing launches, it just closes my notification menu

he gave me permission to post this here to see if anyone would be able to figure it out, he thinks this might have something to do with the issue:

Sure. As long as you site the source and keep me updated on any findings so I can update my app accordingly.
To be more specific, I think the problem is how button events/intents are handled vs. default intent of the notification content view. I'll try to post some code when I get home.

There's an app that works for Vibrant, dg Quickcut.
This is one more reason why Vibrant users NEED an AOSP system like CyanogenMod 6.1 instead of the Samsung crap that we've dealt with since the beginning. When will TheDudesAndroid finish with CyanogenMod Vibrant? He hasn't posted any progress on his twitter in a long time.

No the app I posted here is different...it creates a condensed button layout as opposed to cluttering your notification menu with several ongoing items

If phone part does not work on boot find a terminal app(likelybone in dev tools) and run stop ril-daemon;start ril-daemon and it should work

I'll surely merge 3D I was just messing with wifi atm since data seems to be fixed with ril but a previous post in my thread mentioned the browser was FC after around 50% page loaded...
I have no data plan can it be tested out ?
By all means merge it. Long as I get credit wifi hackin is above me though. And ill throw my data sim in tomorow and test

This has to be the best HC port around for pure speed. After a reboot animations like the lock screen, app switcher and moving between homescreens are extremely smooth. It's almost surprising just how responsive some tasks are. HW acceleration really makes the difference. Great work again

This is amazing but of course there's some usability errors. The notification quick settings list doesn't esem to work for me or managing widgets.

Yep I had the same problems. The quick settings are actually there, you simply can't see them (Try swiping left and right in the middle of the empty space, you'll change the display settings). To move along the different types of widgets you need to swipe in the direction you wish then go back to the homescreen then back to the widgets and it should have moved. A little long winded but it works.
Guys,
Is the dialer and data working?

Time to get my hands dirty on this one! ^^
Thanks m8!
Confirming that there is no data, I tried adding an APN and everything, no go.
Just curious, how that there is a dumb of the XOOM, why not try building off that and combining with the drivers form the new OTA?

Hi,
The Lenovo Android Tablet is released. It comes with the same n-trig digitizer technology as in the Flyer. It has apps with handwriting recognition such as VisionObjects Notes and maybe DocsToGo ( 5'30": http://androidcommunity.com/lenovo-thinkpad-tablet-hands-on-video-20110719/ ) which are quite handy.
It would be wonderful if our community can extract and port those apps to the Flyer (through ROM or apk). I am not in IT so I hope that the work can be done by someone here.
Cheers.
(I don't know whether the Development Forum is a correct one to post things like this. Mod please move the thread to other forums if necessary.)

Google it. People are donating so this team called iDroid can get a Hex-Rays Decompiler to put Android on the iPhone.
Maybe this Lenovo Tablet Dump will do it?:

Edit: I just took the notesmobile_len-oem.apk and notesmobile_len-data-de_DE.apk(for german language) from the dumb.
They installed fine on my GB 2.3.3 Flyer but once I'm starting the app it ays that this version of notes mobile is not compatible with my device.
Could someone simply check if it works on a HC flyer?
Edit2: Just removed the device check... However - it still crashes right after start - anyone who wants to try my version without device check? Maybe it is running on honeycomb.
cool software.hope can get it soon
I hope someone will do it, it seems great.
Well - like I said:
I can share the notesmobile apk to anyone who is running honeycomb on the flyer.
I eventually also removed the device check.
But since I haven't moved to honeycomb yet - I can't try. :-/

Please, do it! A lot of people have already moved to HC
Try the following:
1. Install Notesmobile_len_oem.apk
2. Install the language pack (eg notesmobile_len-data-en_GB.apk)
3. Put the two lib files in your "system/lib" folder if possible
4. Run the notesmobile application for the first time. --> If you get a "device not supported error" continue with 5.
5. Uninstall notesmobile (keep the language pack and lib files in place)
6. Install notesmobile_len-oem-signed.apk
7. Run the notesmobile app (this version should ignore the device check)
@Himmig, got FC on process com.visionobjects.notesmobile_len
I also got the same force close.
I wanna know can man use it on GB?

Anybody tried WritePad, and another one is PenReader? It seems to be a pretty decent handwriting recognition app. It works like a keyboard, so can be used in any app. I hope it will be even much better on the Flyer with Honeycomb.
Anybody using Flyhigh ROM has been succesful to run this application?
well the problem is the following;
1. The flyer has 2 x touch film layers which work on different voltage readings. However the main touchscreen has the ability to detect both voltges, and hence why it can trigger into notepad mode when the pen nibbles touches the screen.
2. The the application itself is designed to work on a different android framework... This would need to be modified to sense.framework as otherwise they just won't compile well together. You also have to modify the application source code to accept the pen voltages instead of fingers...
Unless you want to use fingers too? If so that is another bastard in itself to set up with the pencils interface.
I've tried with SBM to see if the pen could be modified to write with it etc, and but failed, and hence I believe we need afew development to work on this.

update your flyer to HC and buy writepad : you won't need to port this app anymore
Are people trying to get Notes Mobile to work or the handwriting recognition text input to work? Or both?
For those still getting force closes on Notes Mobile, I monitored logcat and found that you need to push the following into /system/lib/:
libMyScriptEngine.so, libMyScriptHWR.so, and libStylusCore.so
If you're running Himmig's modified apk, then it should be fine. If you're just using the apk straight from the system dump, then build.prop needs to spoof the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.
I've been playing with Notes Mobile on my Flyer for a couple of days, and handwriting recognition is quite spiffy. As a note-taking app, I still like HTC Notes better since it syncs with Evernote and it's just integrated better. You could export to HTC Notes from Notes Mobile though.
I actually don't know if the handwriting IME is part of the system dump. Is it there?
Thanks for the input mate... I should have looked at logcat :-/
I'll try if it works and see if the modified apk is able to surpass the device check... however - could you post your build prop modifications?
I'm trying to make a simple android texting app, and was wondering whether there are any open source sms apps for android I could use. I searched around and I saw a thread on another site saying GO SMS Pro was opensource, but after searching around I didnt manage to find its source code anywhere. Could someone clear this up for me? I would appreciate it if you told me about (and possibly provide a link to) android opensource SMS apps. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tutorial link, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I was thinking more of a fully featured SMS app with easily accessible open source code

Look at the Google code for the AOSP messaging app. That is the only Open source app out. Go SMS is far from open source as are any other 3rd party apps.

Go sms pro is the best available option u can work upon !!
regarding its source code, i'll try to find and inform u abt it.....
I know I am a bit late, but SMSdroid is an open source SMS client project.
Check it out here http://code.google.com/p/websmsdroid/ and here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.ub0r.android.smsdroid
Wow, hate to revive an old thread, but I'm in the same boat and would like to hear what the OP did in the end.
Here is what I'm trying to do:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/coding/web-apps/experience-sms-handling-android-t3610335
Ultimately, I want an app that could handle basic notifications from my carrier which come 1 or 2x a month, but allow all new outgoing messages to come from another app. Google Voice, in my situation, other people might want Hangouts or whatsapp or other apps to be their default for outgoing from the dialer/contact/call log screens. Problem is, in order for a app to be "default", it needs to actually have the handlers for SMS/MMS built in. I'm not saavy enough to write a while new app from scratch, was hoping to modify one enough to forward new messages using intent.
I'd like to revive this thread and find a current solution. I liked qksms but Development died about a year ago without resolving some bugs
hello,
am on miui 11.0.5.0 global and was able to remove the stock mi browser(v10.....etc).
am trying to install an older version of mi browser that had better features than newer versions , it installs but keeps closing everytime i open it!
is there any workaround to make it work?
I know I'm not answering your question.
But why exactly do you prefer to use a browser filled with ads and junk?

Poco launcher gives you a neat way of hiding those bits of xiaomi scurf that you can't uninstall - why not just do that and browse with Iron or something better?

Regardless of ads or not, why do you still insist on using a inferior browser when there are so many others out there that do a better job.

i already mentioned the cause above!......the old version am talking about has a certain feature that isnt working anymore in new versions!.
All you mention is "the feature I'm looking for" or the "cause I'm looking for"
There's no direct mention or explanation of what you're looking for. Maybe more people will help you if you choose to explain a bit more rather than shut down every comment that's trying to help you.

the reason for posting this topic is to get help regarding running an older version of miui browser that installs but closes everytime i open in oreo/pie/q ......it runs fine on other android phones on nougat!!.
specifying the feature thats working on this old browser and not working on recent versions wont help coz poeple who "try to help" would simply recommend using other newer versions or even different browsers!!
if i wanted to shut comments ....i would have simply ignored any replies without a direct solution!!.
Okay, so you know how it works in the software world. Nobody codes everything from scratch. What we do is build upon the work of others to get what we want. Your previous browser would have been built with various libraries that it hooks into to provide different functionality. Now a new one has come out which was installed on your fone and this is using later versions of the libraries and possibly some APIs may have been dropped. So you're trying to use the old browser with the new libraries and it's entirely possible that the APIs/ABIs it needs are no longer available. So you're SOL. You're going to have to run your browser in debug mode to see what's wrong. I hope it works out for you.
