Just saw the PlayStation app just came out yesterday and naturally wanted to download it. When to the Android Market on the PC as I usually do to install, and it says "This item is not available for your carrier" just as it does when you try to install Barnacle - a prevention from AT&T.
What's up with that???
I just tried also. Same error as you.....THis network makes some of the worst decisions for customers

The app is only available in Europe right now.
But I guess you can still download if you have root:

Good call! Even easier than using MarketEnabler which I did shortly after I made the post, forgot all about being able to fake providers right off the phone.... Gotta remember that for the future....
did anyone who tried this have any success in using tha app as intended in the US?
Yeah it works fine, it doesn't really have much functionality beyond checking which of your friends are online, but yeah it works.
The app works except i can't login. I try and it leads me to the login page again saying it cant find the redirect or something.

Keep trying - it didn't work the first time I fired it up, so I tried again and it worked just as it should. Quite limited as SG Pillar stated, but it works. Keep it on your phone and update when applicable, should be more functions to come just like the PSN as we all know....
there's also a 3rd-party app called "PS3 Friends" which works well for seeing who's on your PSN.

If it is a server error, no advice is going to help is it.
Doesnt explain why everything worked before up date and now doesnt and even if i go back to my xrecovery backup google stuff doesnt work.
Have you got any problems with any google app on your phone???
make sure your APN details are correct. can you get any data connection at all? what about trying to set it up while connected to a wireless network?
As xperiax10iuser said, its a server error - your phone cannot reach the server for one reason or another. make sure that your end is working ok, and if all is well at your end then it is indeed a server error at the other end. nothing that can be done.
Its a problem with Google there are loads of reports on market forum.

Thanks for reporting back, server errors are generally at Google's end.
Hey guys. I made a mistake, here is what happened. I had ROOTed my phone a while ago and downloaded Barnacle. It was working flawlessly. My phone started acting up so i had thought to exchange the phone for another one, so i unrooted it and removed all the rooted apps i had on it. I didnt exchange the phone because it isnt giving me random reboots and the battery isnt getting really really hot when what i think its charging but it really isnt. I decided to keep it obviously and i just rooted right now. I go to download Barnacle from the market site and i am not allowed to click on my device that i have listed because "this app isnt allowed by my carrier" or something along those lines. Is there a way i can still get this app??
Thanks in advanced
From market, search and install "Market Enabler". Use that to change your market region to Telstra (Australia). Now you can search in market for Barnacle and be able download/install it. After that, revert back to your original market region with market enabler.
Thank you VERY much sir. Worked perfect. So what else can i do with this Market Enabler app?
Glad that it worked
I have no idea what else you can do with it since this was the only reason I used that for myself. Basically if AT&T removes a particular program from their market, you can search for other providers' market with this app and install the program.

Just wanted to throw this out there. With a lot of apps made for rooted phones you can usually download the apk right from their respective websites onto your phone and use the built in file manager to install them. That's how I got Barnacle anyways.

But if you do that you won't get auto-updates from the market, am I right?

Well, here's the thing. If it's not already listed as a compatible app for your phone than it won't link to the market regardless. It would work just as well to check the website probably once a month for updates, just as you would have to do with the market enabler. But if you use the website, you could get your hands on some beta versions ahead of time.

But I digress, it's really up to the user what they want to do. I was merely just pointing out a different option.
Thanks, I learned something today
I used market enabler method because I though it would update automatically, which apparently isn't the case.

Well, I'm not entirely sure if you can just switch providers to enable updates through the market but I would assume it would still need to be done manually.
I just loaded it from the Barnacle site, which worked well...
Ditto, Thank you for this thread... I was looking for a good wifi tethering app. Now if only AT&T could get their act together.
Anyone using this app got a letter or text from ATT?

Just used this method to download Barnacle for my new Infuse... AWESOME! Thank you!
I was searching for any app that utilizes gps, camera, in case of theft for recovery. however, i cannot get any apps to download. Ive wanted to try AntiDroidtheft (cant find it on the market), Mobile defense ( not taking any more beta testers), Lookout Mobile Security ( not compatible), with no luck.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Doesnt seem to work. I tried using my existing samsung account, say invalid username and pw ( i know its not, because it works on the samsung.com site)
So i created another account and it logs me in, however, when I click the "Register your mobile phone now" nothing happens.
I use SeekDroid - works perfectly.

+1 I have that on my HTC Desire.

Works really well, especially when you lose your phone in the house, but also in case you lose your Tab.
+ 1 for prey use it on all my mobiles, laptops and desktops. Really nice interface and web manager.
Apps
I use Androidlost on my htc EVO and GT 10.1. It allows you to sound an alarm to find your phone/tab. It also allows you to wipe your device of all information. It will also give you gps coordinates to help you locate the device

It sounds like you're having a similar issue as me. My housemate was able to download the PayPal app fine, but it won't even show up in results for me, and when I do find an external link to load the app page, it says "This app is not available for your device".
Exactly

For PayPal specifically, the app was pulled out for a little while. It's available again.
http://www.wpcentral.com/paypal-back-store-windows-phone-8-devices
You can try again and PayPal should be available for everyone now.
I found a thread on XDA earlier that was a way of getting market apps that weren't available for your device without editing build.prop but I can't find it now. I figured this might be helpful for others as well with the S4.
The app I am trying to install is a Canon camera operation app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.pixela.cameraaccess&hl=en
This app is incompatible with all of your devices.

The link you posted is for CameraAccess, though your post says Canon camera operation app.......
When I click on the link and view in browser, it tells e it's available. However, when I search it does not come up. I went to the online play store into my settings and it seems that play store has it listed as a Nexus, but when I go to search for the link that you posted, it does not come up.

This is actually an official Canon Vixia app to operate their camcorders. But I can't get it working. when I search on my phone it doesn't show up either assuming that is because it isn't available on my device.
