already done that dude jus loads of jumbled things lol

what do you mean by jumbled things ? can you post some screenshoot?
as far as im using it system folder is last on the list

You dont need to extract bootanimation.zip, just call another animation bootanimation.zip and copy it into system/media and overwrite original, bingo you have a new start up animation.

Perhaps try using Droid Explorer on your computer.
Might make it easier to look for things/edit text files with a full sized keyboard and monitor lol

nah that dnt work dude lol

WHY do you want to edit /system/bin/bootanimation? It's an executable. Typically, you change it by getting and modifying the source code and recompiling it. A harder way would be to open it in a hex editor and modify the binary code directly.
Is there something you want to accomplish that can't be done simply by editing bootanimation.zip?

i know is been days on this...but i was wonder the same LoL .... "how to open this file....." but for Droid X use

Any luck? Are you also trying to enable sound to gingerbread?

you can run that system/bin one using fxexplorer.
i have a problem here, i deleted that one and i dont know how to get it back.

root/system/bin/bootanimation
hi i have deleted my bootanimation file on root/system/bin/bootanimation and theres no more boot animation appearing on every boot of my phone who knows this?

i just did it again, this is the way...
extract the all the drawable-ldpi folder and look at the last pic.tha t is the one you want to replace.then put it back to the .apk!
dont do it via adb or while the .apk is in a .zip
it has to be just framework-res.apk in the desktop

no need to zip or anything
just put it back like you would in any other folder.
just:
1 open apk with 7zip
2 replace the wallpaper
3 make sure you did it (close the 7zip window and check the wallpaper again
4 close the window and push the apk to the phone

[Q] can i change apk files

If i change a .apk file to .zip then change the icons and change it back to .apk will it work with the new icons??
lets say i do it with whatsapp....or it will brick my phone?
It should work,
You could also just open the .apk in 7zip or winrar or something like that and change the pngs inside, I think this is easier and safer
try it out and let us know what is the outcome...........

If you only switch the pngs you are fine for sure no need to sign
to change png you don't have to rename to .zip and extract you can just open with a program like 7z and replace them
