Interesting Problem with superclean 2.9 any ideas? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed superclean 2.9 with vodoo. EB01 voodoo kernel with no problems. Did this about 2 days ago and all has been awesome. Today had an interesting issue arise, twice today when trying to make an outbound call the phone hangs and won't complete the call. After reboot outbound calls work flawlesly. Any ideas??

It's not an issue with the rom...something is up with all the networks and modems as of late. I've been experiencing it for awhile as I use my phones (Only one is rooted, and tampered with, my fascinate) ALOT. Several ppl are not receiving calls and are unable to make them. If it begins to happen very often, as in every two or three calls, then I'd recommend going back to stock and seeing if the problem persists. If so, it's a hardware/network issue.
Edit: I dialed a number earlier and the phone hung for almost 15 seconds before connecting...no ****.

Glad to know i'm not the only one with problem. I suspected it may be a Verizon problem since I have had no problems with the upgrade to 2.9 till now.

[Q] Heytell not working on Fascinate?

I have 2 phones both running SC 2.8 and the NitroDark theme. Pretty basic. Heytell does not work properly. We can both receive messages and hear them, however when we send them they are blank on the recipient's end. My kids are about to kill us because they hate texting. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is stepping on the program? The issue is identical with both Fascinate phones we have and they have been flashed the exact same way.
Much thanks in advance!
Update: I went back to stock Di01 and Heytell is fine. I proceeded to odin the base EB01 and it broke. I tried going to the DL09 modem, same result. I emailed Heytell and they have seen the issue but have no clue. Anyone have any suggestions? Please? lOL

I have the same issue on my Samsung Captivate, it only works properly on stock 2.1 for me...It doesn't even work on the Official 2.2 for me, the developer told me they have no trouble running it. If I come across anything, I will be sure to update you as well as I think these issues are related.
Thanks, Pete. Good to hear I am not alone. I emailed Heytell and they said they do not know what the issue is with Froyo and the Samsung phones, but it exists. I had to take my phones back down to DL09 to get it to work and let me tell you I have tried every modem, every radio, every EB01 ROM that I could find, same issue every time. I let one phone get the OTA EA28 from an original Di01 base and it quit working after that ota update. Frustrating.
Yep, I have the same problem on SC 2.9.1 and EB16 kernel; it became unresponsive and then crashed every time I tried to send a message. I suspect that HeyTell is using MMS to send the audio and perhaps there is an issue there with the way Sammy phones send MMS. I haven't had issues sending images to friends using MMS, but maybe there is an issue with audio.

Call issue

The past few days people are telling me that they have been trying to call me but my phone never rings and I dont get missed calls. I am running ec01 with jts latest voodoo...

That's where the DL09 modem comes in handy. That crap happened to me starting with the EB01 modem. Another stupid step that helps (which we shouldn't have to do) is to reboot device in airplane mode. Or your friends are just lying and really don't wanna talk to you.
good day.
Airplane mode toggle doesn't help (for me at least). I had this problem with EB01 and EC01 radio with different roms and kernels. Going back to EA28/DL09 radio is the only way to have reliable phone for me.
To OP: where are you from? I see that mostly people from Chicagoland area have this problem so...
Same exact thing happened to me first morning after jumping to EC01. Reboot fixed the problem for me. Haven't received any voicemails without receiving missed calls since, so I'm assuming the problem is fixed.
EC01/nitro honeycomb
Maybe it's fixed but you never know. On EB01 I've had this problem once and then it was working fine for 2 weeks but had it again and when I really needed to reached by phone. EC01 was fine for 2 days also but it happened again. So it was not acceptable for me and I went back to EA28 radio. Maybe next radio release (if ever) will be better.
same problem for me running ec01 rom and radio ...went back to sc2.9.2 with dl09...people tell me that they try and try with no answer on ec01...oh well

Suddenly lots of missed calls

I have UKB 2.0 with EC09 and I have suddenly been missing a lot of calls. I searched but found nothing really on what to try. Any ideas on what I can try?
you need to run a ed05 based kernal... that fixed the missed call issue. I have not had a missed call since early july. Running powerwashed ed05 w/ pbj 0808 voodoo kernal. Rom works flawless!!
If everything was fine till recently. You could try a prl update *228 option 2. I noticed my region got a new prl last week.
good day.
EC09 is the radio and OTB reloaded 1.5 is the kernel.
I'll try the PRL update.
It might help to update roaming. my service is horrible at my house i get missed calls all day lol

[Q] ICS Passion v9.0 -- Inconsistently Poor Call Quality

Hello gentlemen!
First of all, I want to thank neobuddy and everyone that he worked with on the ICS Passion ROM. I find it excellent and have been using it for the past week or so.
I do have a slight issue, though, and as I am not yet familiar with mobile development, I am not sure if the problem stems from my hardware or the software. I bought this Vibrant used, though in excellent condition. As soon as it arrived, I rooted it and installed ICS Passion on it. Therefore, I never actually used the stock software, and that is why I am unsure if this issue stems from the ROM or from the phone itself.
Anyway, my problem is that sometimes during a call, my voice will cut in and out very frequently. This occurs with various people and in various places, so it doesn't have anything to do with signal strength. I can hear the other person just fine. It also seems to only occur when I receive a call. Once I hang up and call the person back, they seem to be able to hear me just fine.
I suspect that this has something to do with one of the following:
1) Sound filtering and normalization. The way that the software handles the data that it receives from the microphone. If it was the microphone itself, I would expect this issue to be much more consistent.
2) Which network the phone uses during phone calls. I've gathered that H is for data transfer and 3G is for phone calls (for the most part). Is it possible that ICS Passion somehow fails to switch to the proper network when a call is received? This seems unlikely as I searched through the ICS Passion thread in the dev forum, but couldn't find an issue similar to mine.
Any insight would be appreciated, although I suppose if no one can help out I can just flash the stock and see if the problem persists. If it does, then I can only assume it's the phone.
Thanks!
try v 10 or v 10.6
Mute and then unmute your call. We've had this problem since cm7

Sweet, good to know, thanks. Do you know of a more permanent solution?

I'm afraid to upgrade to v10 because some people have been experiencing issues with their phones rebooting several minutes into the call. I may try it anyway, though.
Do you know if your problem is with incoming calls only?? That's where the issue seems to be, that the mute/unmute fixes. I put 10 on about a week ago, and am loving it. Put 10.5 on yesterday, and 10.6 today, so they are working on it. I think 10.6 might have fixed it for me, so I'm so happy. Thought Bionix was going to be the end of the line, I tried a couple of gingerbread roms, and had issues!

Been on v10 for a week and have not had the reboot problem. I've heard 10.6 has some problems but yeah the mute/unmute bug isn't that bad you get used to it

That's what it seems like. I have not had a single "you sound like you're underwater" issue for outgoing calls.
Thanks for the responses, everyone. I'm glad to find out that the problem isn't with the phone because I can't afford to replace it for a while. I guess I'll just wait a bit and hope that these slight issues get resolved in a more stable iteration.

[Q]Phone intermittently stops receiving texts and phone calls

Hi guys. I'm having a real hard time with my phone right now and I hope someone can help me.
First of all, my Note is still on ICS running the last stable build of CM9 (CM 9.1.0 to be exact) without any other kernel or radio modifications. I just performed a clean install of this the other day also. The problem I'm having is that the phone will literally be sitting next to me connected to my home wi-fi and it will fail to receive texts and phone calls. What I mean by that is, my girlfriend will be trying to text me but nothing will come through on my phone for up to an hour. Then at some random time, all the so-called pending SMS will finally display on my phone all with the same time-stamp. Similarly, if someone tries to call me, I will have no notification of this until way after the fact when the voicemail symbol appears (that's IF a message was left).
Now, to me, this seams to be happening at completely random times and I have not been able to pinpoint what's causing it. Before, I used to think it happened after a prolonged time of having the phone on silent and non-use. But just last night the problem happened again when this was not a factor.
A few other notes:
Only seems to happen at home where I am connected to wi-fi. And frankly, I don't travel enough to test my phone anywhere else. While at home my signal strength on AT&T fluctuated between 0-1 bar up to 3 bars. Kinda strange, I know.
Before switching to the CM 9.1.0 rom, I was using CM9-Kang h0tsauce "9" 20120817 *reborn* for quite some time. I experienced the problem with that rom as well but it didn't seem to happen as much.
Rebooting the phone seems to help. When I do this, it seems to push everything through and allows me to be able to receive new messages instantly. Obviously, though, this is not a good work-around since I have no idea when the problem will show up.
So.... anyone know what's going on here? Hardware/software/network problem? I've done some searching but couldn't really find this issue discussed anywhere else. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have been having the same problems as you on a Blackstar X and Flapjaxxx's ICS build 12. I talked to AT&T a couple of times and they reconnected me to the network which has helped a little, but I still get missed texts and calls, but not as often. I have no idea how to fix the issue. Hopefully, somebody out there does.
Sounds like to me that you have a very bad signal. In case you didn't know, texts go through the phone signal and not wifi. The wifi connection is just a coincidence since you never leave home and are always connected to wifi. Going somewhere with a better signal would help clarify this.
There are apps on Google Play that restore your network when it goes down. Possibly they may help you.

I pulled CM9 yesterday for this very reason...
And it appears you are having the issue as Well...

I started having this issue with my One X. Git a replacement and had the same issue. Now on my note I have the same issue. It's only at home though and I'm on wifi. Started on BlackStar X now I'm on FJ AOSPxxx JB. Seems to happen more. Think I might go back to BlackStar. Didn't happen as much

Also ..if going back to blackstar ...
The older version is UCLF6 ...And the newer version comes from the N7005 device base .....
Not that it makes much difference, but the older version will likely give you the same results as FJ's UCLF6 builds.....
You may want to try the newer version first ...g
Edit: the older builds allow the use of FJ's 3.0.2 kernels....the newer base will not.
