[Q] Debranding Unlocked Orange Phone - 7 Mozart General

Hey,
I was first wondering, is Orange UK delaying the NoDo updates? I have an unlocked Orange HTC Mozart, and was wondering if it was worth debranding. Is it worth the effort, and if so, can anybody give a quick summary of what I must do?
Thanks in advance.

You dont need a special cable, just follow the instructions in the last few posts.

Thanks for the link.
Do you know if you are you able to re-install Orange Maps if the phone has been debranded?
Also can you confirm if you run the RomUpdateUtility.exe from the original orange folder or from the latest version?
Thanks again.

Dont know about the Orange maps, never used it and dont have an Orange sim in the phone anymore.
First you flash the orange ROM, once you have flashed the ROM, you download the no-do Europe rom extract to a different folder and copy the .nbh file from the europe folder to the Orange folder. Then run the updater from the Orange folder.
And it will update to no-do and also debrand.

Thanks for the help I will have a go at it tomorrow.
Can anyone confirm if they have got Orange maps working on a debranded handset?
Cheers.

i would also like to know if orange maps works on a debranded phone please.

So, after about 1.5GBs of downloaded files, and hours of waiting for RapidShare to make the links available (I kept getting the wrong file), I unbranded it. I do not have the NoDo update. Will I get this through Zune, or do I have to flash the firmware again? I would rather get it through Zune, and not have to go through the syncing process again.

Never used it- I just use the built in maps (Bing).

I have just downloaded and installed Orange Maps from the marketplace on my debranded and unlocked Mozart running the no-do update

Thanks for that, I will debrand the phone now.

mozart with NoDo
I have updated my Mozart two days ago, also unbranded it from Orange UK. the phone is working great. but i think i have left the keyboard language as English from USA, the good thing is i get the voice search option on Bing now which is neat.
Marketplace is much much better and smoother, and games loads faster, UI is more responsive as well.
Have not had the phone crashed yet. The Orange from the bootloader is gone.
the game cubed used to crash when my wifi was on, but now works great.
And copy and paste is great.

Did you put NoDo on, or did Zune do it? Also, guessing you're not American, so does the voice search mess up for you too?

New Hewro Update on Mobistar Generic Hero

Hi,
I bought a Generic HTC Hero from Mobistar in Belgium with the hopes of getting the new update on there. However I've downloaded both updates but it get an ID error when flashing the device. Does anyone have any advice on how i can get this update. Blegium isn't even listed in the HTC World Directory. =(
Thanks,
-David
are you sure you need to update? That is, I suspect the belgian hero is already based on a recent rom. Does the clock flip?
I am in belgium too an I use the Modacom rom with mobistar with no problems. So I suggest you flash this one
Dont know how to get the official rom, but try reversing the last numbers of the SN.
Ya im sure itys the old one, the clock does flip =P.
I tried reversing the last digits of the SN, finnaly got though, lets see if the update works though.

Follow this video for how to root your Hero: Link
DO AN NANDROID BACKUP AFTER THE LAST STEP OF THE FIRST VIDEO. YOU WILL SEE THIS OPTION IN THE RECOVERY SCREEN. Just in case something goes wrong, you can flash back your stock ROM.

They are video guides with written instructions and helped me understand what exactly is going on.

It isn't working for me :-( Downloaded the update by changing the last 2 digits of my SN. Tried installing it but it gives me a customer-id error, how did you manage to install it?
I'm still having the same problem! Just changed the last number of my S/N from 1 to 0 and downloaded the package.
I'm getting the customer id error [131] as wel!
Isn't there any solution for this problem without having to root my phone?
I ended up rooting the phone and installing the Modaco ROM, very stable and fast rom!
genius
purchased my HTC Hero while on holiday in china, bought from one of those laptop/PC/phone/pirate movie/pirate software mega-malls in chengdu.
its software version was somewhere in the 1.73 range and I really wanted to upgrade but HTC responded "blah blah blah singapore blah blah no ROM available in RUU form for your phone as yet".
every time i tried the RUU exe files downloaded from here or from HTCs UK site, i was greeted with the "Error 131" Customer ID Invalid which I understand from xda-developers site relates to CUID lock being active on the phone (forgive me if it is called something other than a CUID lock)
installed nandroid which was pretty friggin easy
downloaded the "update-hero-generic-2.73.751.4-signed.zip"
copied the file to my SD Card on the phone and renamed to "update.zip"
turned the phone off.
booted up while holding the "home" key
selected "flash using update.zip" or something on the nandroid menu and press home or menu to confirm
once completed, re-booted and was greeted by the standard HTC Android setup prompts including my chinese/english language selection prompt (thank christ) - the china mobile splash was still present but the wierd green logo following it was replaced by the cute android jumping out from behind a HTC logo.
i think the key was that the nandroid installer and the update.zip packages do not respect the S-ON (CUID or whatever) lock that my phone has.
there is a procedure for removing the lock but it is beyond the steps i am willing to take as it involves making an RS232 3.3v usb connector, and sending console commands to the handset. While removing the lock would mean i could flash standard roms from RUU*.exe files, and i could remove the China Mobile splash screen, Nandroid does away with this step as it seems not to respect the S-ON lock that is set.
i LOVE nandroid now. xda-developers kicks ass.
xx
No need to use that method to bypass cid lock. Check the stickied thread on making a goldcard. Does similar thing, but without the risks from the hardware method.

[Q] HTC Mozart T-mobile (DE) branded, how to flash rom for extra languages?

Hi all, I've purchased an HTC Mozart T-Mobile (German) branded, the firmware version number is 2250.09.12301.111, the phone is sim lock free but the only available languages are German and English UK; I live in Italy and i would have my own languages on my phone, so, which Rom I have to use to unbrand the phone and get italian language? Thx all
I second that.
Can someone post a detailed description as to how to unbrand Mozart phones for noobe?
For example I have those versions installed:
Firmware: 2250.09.12505.111 (--> 1.25.111.05)
Radio: 5.50.09.18_22.24.50.09U
How do I know my CID?
I can't find any guide to find CID please someone help us!
Firmware 2250.09.12301.111
Radio 5.50.09.18_22.24.50.09U
Bootloader 1.23.2250.1(110315)
I suppose that the "easiest" method here is to try every type of ROM and one that won't give "invalid vender id" error is designed for your CID as well. That's how I found that I have HTC_Asia branded version.
Isn't that method a little risky for the phone?

It is! That is how I killed my Orange-UK branded mozart.
Isn't possible to restore the phone whit the original firmware when bricked?
Yes, it should be fine IF you have the original ROM. But if you can, and you should be, use the gold card method to debrand your phone. It is actually quite easy if you follow the instructions.
The phone is already sim lock free, i would load a rom with italian language (i'm italian and the phone (T-mobile DE) have only german and english language), anyway a will give a shot today, later i let know you if my phone will be alive
Um.. I don't see how trying to flash ROM WITHOUT gold card can kill the device. It checks CID and if ROM isn't compatible with device, it won't flash at all. It is done BEFORE flashing. I tried flashing HTC_Europe this way - didn't start with this "invalid vender id" error. but it did work with HTC_Asia one and after flashing I got my device in the state I first ran it (with Australia settings)
Sorry, I'm a newbie
P.s. What's gold card?

Sorry to say it but you are wrong. This is exactly what I thought and I downloaded a ROM from Ansar. I thought it will give me an error if it is not compatible. But lo and behold, I received no error and the flashing process started. I was even happy and surprised. But the progress stopped at 11% and then told me my phone can not be flashed due to write error or something like that. Every time I put it on thereafter, it goes straight to the rainbow bootloader screen.
I had to go back to my HD2/7 until Ansar posted orange-uk rom which helped restored my phone. I have since debranded it using the gold card method and then received the update.
Summary, IF you have your correct factory ROM, you apparently can experiment, but if not you'd better stay off. Wrong ROM may give you an error, but like my case it may be only when your phone has been messed up.

You're totally right!
I had experienced the same: tried to flash an uncorrect ROM, had the same error, but - luckily - I immediately could re-flash the previuos and original one and everything went all right!
Well... Still I don't have italian language for the keyboard, but soon I'll experiment again!

[Guide] How to debrand/flash your HTC 7 Mozart

This is a guide on how to flash a new ROM to your HTC 7 Mozart, without using Goldcard. This method can be used to update your ROM or to debrand your phone.
This method was outlined here by theintelligent. I've also used info from here by alalai. I take no credit for discovering this, but thought it deserved a pinned topic to help stop the multiple "how do I flash" topics and to make it easier for users to find the information.
Before you start
This WILL debrand your phone (remove network customisations) and it will enable you to receive updates as soon as Microsoft release them (rather than waiting for the operators).
It WILL NOT unlock your device (to allow you to use other network's SIMs). You will need to use a commercial service for this.
You WILL be able to update your phone to NoDo (and later leaked versions when they appear).
Preparation
I'm not sure why, I think it may be due to getting the right drivers installed, but you will need to install one of the following:
Windows XP users:
Install Microsoft ActiveSync .
Windows Vista/7 users:
Install Windows Mobile Device Center - make sure you install the right version 32/64bit depending upon your OS version.
Ensure that your phone's battery has at least 50% charge.
Download and flash your ROMs
Yes, I said ROMs - if you want to debrand your phone, you will need to download two sets of ROMs. If you're just updating and not debranding then you'll just need to download one ROM.
Download a ROM which is by the same network as you're on (for example if you're phone is currently locked to Orange UK then download RUU_Mozart_Orange_UK_1.22.061.10_Radio_5.50.09.18_ 22.24.50.09U, by ansar. - do not download 1.30!).
Open up ActiveSync/Mobile Device Center
Flash this ROM to your phone (you may not need to do this step, but most users will).
Turn your phone off.
Put your phone into Bootloader Mode - this can be done by pressing and holding the Volume Down Key & Power Button.
Plug your phone into your PC, hopefully a HTC USB driver will install.
Once the driver is installed your phone should display USB mode.
Extract the zip file and then run the exe file
Run through the update process
When your ROM is flashed, your phone will want you to customise it - just do the basic stuff.
Download the ROM you would like to flash (e.g. RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_1.30.401.01_5.54.09.21_22.33 b.50_RELEASE).
Extract the unbranded ROM zip file and then extract the exe file (WinZip will not do this - try 7zip or similar).
Copy the RUU_signed.nbh from the unbranded ROM
Extract the branded ROM exe
Paste the RUU_signed.nbh from the unbranded ROM to branded ROM
Plug your phone back into the PC in bootloader mode
Run RomUpdateUtility.exe file from the branded ROM (but with the unbranded RUU_signed.nbh file)
Follow the steps...
Et voila, you'll have (if all goes well) and unbranded ROM installed
Last step, plug your phone back into your PC and run Zune. Your phone should receive the latest cumulative update.
Let me know if anything isn't clear or needs updating. I am not going to list all ROMs, but there are a plethora of them available here.

Yes, if you're sure it's unbranded, then you can flash any ROM you like. Just make sure there's no difference between Asian and European models (I honestly don't know either way).

This is probably a stupid question but, after debranding can you still install operator specific apps (such as Orange UK's 'Your Orange' app) from the Marketplace?

I'm not sure if you can cross regions - I haven't tried it - someone else here may know. Maybe try another ROM.
Hi,
Great post.
If you going to flash via the bootloader then AS or WMDC do not need to be running.
Before attempting to flash a device ensure the battery has a charge of more than 50%
It is always good practise to perform another hard reset after flashing a ROM.

Hi,
I think you will need to create a goldcard and purchase a cable (new days) or even HARD-SPL or CID (old days) to unlock your device if you want to flash ROMS from different regions, when the option becomes available for the Mozart. (if ever).
Random Apps
I downloaded and installed the rom for the unbranded mozart for europe and HATE the fact you can't select the uk keyboard... So I installed the original orange one from ansaar but it has these silly apps that I can't uninstall... anyone know how to get rid?
As the ROM is branded then you cannot get rid of the carriers customisation, as for the keyboard, this is really no big deal, the £ key can still be used, and its not as if its a full qwerty anyway.
I have a UK Orange Mozart (Sim Locked) and unbranded to the Euro 1.28 using this method. When I connected to Zune it immediately wanted to upgrade the OS to the Pre-NoDo update but it refuses to see NoDo.
However there are reports of people flashing unbranded 7389 OS builds successfully getting the Official NoDo via Zune who are also in the UK so it's very unclear how MS are "Delivering" the updates. What do Microsoft really mean by "Open Market" ?
What isn't clear is if the unbranded phones were also sim unlocked.

I wrote this guide after flashing my girlfriend's Mozart (which was OrangeUK branded) to Euro 1.30 which was OS v7389 and as soon as the 7390NoDo update was released she was asked to update.
So, yes, I'm unsure. Perhaps they are going by OS version. But if you want NoDo, then flash 7389 (which is essentially NoDo anyway) and then you'll get updated to 7390.

Yep. This completely reformats your phone - it's not the same as the update process. You'll lose everything - so backup your data with Zune.
That being said, you can just re-download your apps (even your paid apps).

Hopefully no-one minds me registering to ask for advice on de-branding. I have a question about the part of the procedure above where the branded ROM is first flashed. The version for my phone is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007277
But, when I unzip that, there's no complete .exe as it's already been extracted. The unbranded ROM is an .exe which I had to extract with 7zip, though. So, what .exe should I run for the initial flash with the branded ROM (e.g. RomUpdateUtility, EnterBootloader, something else etc.)? Thanks.

Help A Learning Noob!!

Hey Guys,
Im very new to the whole "Tablet World", I actually just purchased a T-Mobile Springboard via Ebay.
I have not yet recieved the tablet as it should arrive sometime this week, but I have been doing some research so that when it gets
here im not totally in the dark.
It is the 7"model and I believe it currently has HoneyComb installed on it, I would also assume it is locked under the Tmobile Network.
Since I live in Canada I would have to get it unlocked to be able to use it.
OK so here are all my questions...
Where can I get it unlocked, or could I do this myself somehow with software.
I want to install the most recent version of ICS ( I think its 4.0.3), would that require that I root my device?
If so can anyone send me the link to the download and instructions.
Does rooting the device cause any ill side effects? You know with the good comes some bad..lol
I was reading some people were having issues with certain things after the root.
I would love to be able to Text, make phone calls as well as browse..
is this all possible, if so how?
Thanks you guys are the smartest..

OK unlocking. First you will need your new sim. Then pop in the sim and it should bring up the sim unlock menu (it varies between 3.2 and ICS). Then load up tmobiles chat on the web site and ask to unlock the unit. They will unlock the unit as long as its paid off.
For ICS you can down load it directly from H unrooted:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...thod=gotoProductSupport&productId=3779&tb=0);
FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel)
You can download rooted roms here. they are 99% untouched, im running the OsiMood which just has some stock apps removed, and the charging icon is text instead of a battery.
You shouldnt have any issues with a rooted rom. The only issues are with the cm9,AOKP and the ones with custom kernels.
You can text, talk, data on ICS only, and only if you are not on tmobile. You would have to be on att straitTalk or any other carrier. Tmobile is the only carrier thats says no no to all 3 on a tablet, at least in the usa. Tmobile gives you a choice of text/voice, or data only.
Thanks
Thanks a lot man.. I really appreciate any help I can get, and for you guys to take time out of your day to help someone out is great.
Ok so..it still didnt arrive..(getting impatiant) lol I guess its gotta go through Customs..
hmm.. ok so your saying I can download ICS directly from Huawei, will that work fine since its actually a Springboard and not a MediaPad.
Whats the difference between ICS and ICS rooted? Do I need to root, benifits?Which would be best and why?
If I need to root where are the links for the newest ICS rooted on XDA?
I wouldnt be with Tmobile, since there isnt any in Canada..
I already bought a SIM from Petro Canada Mobility
I was told It was best for cheap plans with unlimited Browsing, the only thing was that for data only applications that run through port 80 would work. The trick was to get a proxy app through Google Play and run all your shiat though port 80.
Makes sense?
Thanks!!

whats the difference

You might want to wait a few days to see if T-Mobile makes good on their promise to push out ICS in an OTA update to the Springboard. You will be able to receive the update over wi-fi no matter which carrier you are running it on. It would save you some hassle in flashing international ROMs. Also I can vouch for the fact that the international ICS ROMs have some radio stability problems on the Springboard hardware - connections may freeze unexpectedly.
In terms of carrier compatibility in Canada:
- In theory the Springboard *should* work on Videotron, Wind and Mobilicity because it has the AWS HSPA band. Mine doesn't and I don't know why. It just won't connect with a WIND or Mobi SIM (haven't tested Videotron). It might be because I flashed an international ROM with a different radio.
- The Springboard has 1900 MHz HSPA but not 850. If you are going to use it on the Rogers network (which includes Rogers, Fido, SpeakOut and all their MVNOs), you will get a 3G/H signal in urban areas where 1900 MHz is used. In many locations though, their 3G service may be only on the 850 MHz band (which the Springboard can't access), in which case it will drop down to EDGE.
- If you try and use it on Bell, Telus or their sub-brands, you will get 3G/HSPA in urban areas, but in locales where the service is only on 850 MHz, you will get no signal at all. Bell/Telus has 3G/HSPA and LTE but no 2G/EDGE, so if you can't pick up the signal, it just drops.
S7-301u,S7-302u,S7-303u are the radio bands not firmware versions. 303u is the t mobile band, most people use the 301u. Just because firmwares came after it doesnt mean they are newer. 2 of the newer ones are just fixes for german and russian versions.
Wait for the offical tmobile version in the next few weeks, or download the version i told you.
To flash is easy:
unzip the file onto the root of your sd card
reboot the spring board
it will run the update, then tell you to remove the sd card
remove sd card
reboot system
either plug the sd card back into the spring board and remove the zip folder, or pop the sd card in a flash card reader and removed the zip folder with a pc
If you reboot the springboard again without removing the zip folder, it will reinstall again.
I just received mine today and want to try ICS. If I flash this FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel) will I be still able to receive the official t-mobile version via OTA? How do I backup the stock rom?
Cant backup the original rom. Cant get the OTA if you flash the factory(non tmobile) ICS rom.
Sorry thats how it rolls. If we are slightly lucky someone will grab the OTA for us flashers and we will be set. Or H will release a 303 firmware to work with all the tmobile channels.

Thanks for the heads up. If I gone ahead and flash FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel) will I still be able to use 4G/3G for tmobile? I understand that I can also use gsm voice/text with this firmware is that correct?
voice/text/data has to do with the carrier. att lets you do it, tmobile wont, its not about the firmware.
In your area you will either flash the 301 or the 302 firmware. They are the same other than what band they run in. They havent comes out with a 303 factory firmware yet.
Hmm

Ok.. Well I have had the device a couple days now and just been fooling around with it.
Now I would like to get this all in motion.
My question is, If I go with ICS from HUAWEI website, can I still root the device? and do I do that after or before.
and how?
I think I need to root it to run a Proxy program to run everything through port 80, which is what Petro Canada Mobility(Rogers) leaves open on Unlimited Browsing Plan.
Also in the instruction, you said put it in the "root" , what you mean by root, and thats on the micro sd right?

Go to the huawei mediapad root thread on the development section, go to the link in the post number 28 (to modaco). You root it after updating the pad.

I don't know the current situation (since they revamped the site), but I've never got corrupted download. The last time I download stuff from there was when the ics source came out.

This Is starting to really bother me.. I tried like 4 sources and everyone boots and then stops durring update and says FAIL.
WTF?
I have failed once when trying to install a new firmware which turns out to be corrupted download (the firmware was one of those pre-rooted firmware). I also read someone failed many times and turns out the problem is in their sd card. If you have a spare sd card, you probably can try putting the firmware there or if you don't mind formatting your current card then you can also try that.

Ok so here is the update.
I got 301u ICS General up and running, just curious on why I installed 301u over 302u. Which is better for my region (Montreal , QC) would be on Rogers network?
Because I have been having issues getting connected to network, wondering if I maybe installed wrong firmware.
Anyway, next step is to root.
1) Download Huawei MediaPad ROOT ICS Android 4.0.x.rar
2) Connect the tablet to your PC, install the driver.
3) In the settings of the tablet enable debugging by USB .
4) Unpack the archive.
5) Run the Install Root.cmd wait three reboots.
Ok, I downloaded the file to my Laptop, Im just confused on step 4 and 5 so I have stopped until I find out more informaion because I do not want do to it wrong.
"Unpack the Archive"? could someone maybe expand on this limited explanation. Do I extract the file to desktop or directly onto the tablet and same with running Root.cmd where do I run it from?
can someone please maybe explain the steps better then they were, I ve seen better instructions written on a carton of milk on how to open it, then this.

I don't know about the better firmware, but since I'm using 301u pad with 301u firmware I haven't got any problem.
As for rooting.. Step 4 is extracting the file in your pc/desktop. Step 5 is running the install root.cmd while the pad connected to the pc.
please help me.

How to successfully install AT&T Dev rom to AT&T branded phone!

I have successfully installed the AT&T Amber Developer rom to a brand new Locked Black AT&T branded phone just delivered this morning from AT&T. I had to go with AT&T to make sure that I got model rm-820 to ensure complete compatibility with 4G/Edge. The phone is locked, but I'm waiting for an email from AT&T to unlock it.
Here's how I got it done, just took some time and a lot of patience. As a bonus, I also got internet sharing working, without calling 611 and having tethering turned on, here in the NE USA, on AT&T's network.
Please remember that this is for a BLACK phone. Adjust for different colors if possible.
Download and install the latest version of NCS.
Download Navifirm+ v2.3 here: http://www.symbian-toys.com/navifirm.aspx. No need to install, just run it when you need it to download the rom.
I only downloaded two roms:
Rom 1
The first one was the pre-portico Rogers rom. I downloaded the needed files from here: http://wp.it168.com/thread-217624-1-1.html
Download the files under this heading "059Q6W4: RM-820_Rogers_Canada_VAR240202_v2_Black" by right clicking each one and saving to C:\Program Data\Nokia\Packages\Products\rm-820. Remove the check-sum numbers from the front of each file name when the downloads are complete.
Rom 2
Use Navifirm, or any of the other means, to download rom 059R2L5 RM-820 AT&T DEVELOPER DEVICE BLK. Copy the downloaded files to C:\Program Data\Nokia\Packages\Products\rm-821.
Flashing the roms
Start NCS and open product rm-820. Select Rom code 059Q6W4 RM-820_Rogers_Cana... Version 1232.2109.1242.1002. That should be the only one there. Click the start button to flash the rom to the phone. Ignore the warning about it not being the correct rom.
When flashing is complete, setup the phone just enough to get to the settings. Connect to your WIFI. In settings, go to Phone Update and click on Check for Updates. Keep tapping on the phone to keep it awake though out this procedure. The phone will take forever to find, download and install the first update. When completed and the phone is reset and on, set WIFI and check for updates again. Follow the same procedure until you are told that there are no more updates. I believe that it was 3 updates, maybe 4. Be sure that your WIFI is enabled each time to prevent failure of an update.
Go to NCS and open product rm-821. Select Rom code 059R2L5 RM-820 AT&T DEVELOPER DEV... Version 3047.0000.1326.20... That should be the only one there. Click the start button to flash the rom to the phone. Ignore the warning about it not being the correct rom.
Enable internet sharing
When the installation is complete, setup the basics of the phone. Enable WIFI. Go to Setting/Access Point and select AT&T - LTE 2 - Lumia.
Go to Settings/Keyboard. I kept the English keyboard and removed the French keyboard. Click on add keyboards and select Spanish (Spain).
Turn off your phone. Turn on your phone and go to Settings/Phone Updates and check for updates. Once the Spanish keyboard is installed, turn off the phone and then turn it back on. No need to do a reset.
When the phone is back on and up fully, go to Settings/Internet Sharing and turn it on. You'll see a screen stating "Sharing your cellular data connection over WIFI... a Broadcast name and password lines. Already had two tablets going thru it as a test. Worked great. Also, go to Settings/Speech and select the language you want spoken to you.
Hope this helps everyone out. I didn't include how to use NCS, feel free to add that if someone wants to.
PS The AT&T rom failure mismatch platform message, which has kept everyone from installing AT&T dev rom, or even own AT&T's rom, onto AT&T branded phones is misleading. What is being checked is the first section of the VERSION NUMBER. AT&T update needs to see at least version 3047.0000... (Amber) of the Rogers_Canada rom on the phone you're flashing the rom to in order to be successful. AT&T also checks a kernal version, which is the same for AT&T and Rogers roms.
By installing 059Q6W4 RM-820_Rogers_Cana... Version 1232.2109.1242.1002, which is the only rom that will flash onto an AT&T branded phone, and updating, you're bring the phone version up to 3047.0000.... and now 059R2L5 RM-820 AT&T DEVELOPER DEV... Version 3047.0000.1326.20... will install successfully.
The phone is now working fully, without any issues that I've been able to uncover yet.
I welcome any and all comments.
Added observations:
To avoid connectivity issues flashing, be sure to use a 2.0 USB port, directly to your computer, NOT thru a USB hub. If you plug into some 3.0 USB ports or a USB hub (powered or not), NCS will see and read the phone, but will fail at flashing.
All files for a rom need to be kept in their separate directories for clean flashing! Best practice is to download the files to a directory named after the rom you're downloading. Rename the directory of the rom you want to burn to your model (rm-820 or rm-821) before starting NCS. I believe Navifirm+ v2.3 already handles downloads this way. Failure to do this can result in a goofy acting phone, missing/not working right features and other possible issues.

Sure! After flashing rom 059Q6W4 RM-820_Rogers_Cana... Version 1232.2109.1242.1002, do NOT perform any updates.
Download rom 059L848 RM-820 NDT AMERICA ATT Black and flash to the phone. This will install the current AT&T stock rom, Version 1232.5692.1314.0001, loaded with AT&T branded pay-for bloatware.
Now I have to ask, WHY would you want to run the branded, outdated firmware that is loaded with AT&T's pay-for bloatware, AND removes useful utilities that can help you potentially save money on AT&T's network? (Unless you're returning the phone to AT&T and you don't want them to know that you screwed with it.).
My wife has had her AT&T branded red 920 for about a week now, with the stock Version 1232... AT&T rom. I gave her my phone (AT&T branded black 920) that I've flashed to the Amber (Version 3042...) update, using the AT&T developers rom, to compare it to her phone. She played with the phone for about 1/2 an hour.
She said that she felt that the phone seemed to responded snapper under certain conditions, music in background, facebook running, and a game paused. She also liked having access to Data Sense. We have a shared 4 Gig plan and who ever goes over will have to come up with the extra cash, so she liked being able to view her usage in real time. She also really liked the Setting/Display and touch, which lets you double tap the screen to wakeup and displays the time while off. Also, having Setting/Internet sharing enabled (With Spanish (Spain) keyboard installed.), was a big hit with her. She'll be able to connect and use her WIFI table while on the road.
Needless to say, now she wants the Developers rom on her phone.
Nice. Thank you but I do have another question for the At&T Dev Rom. Do you know the code for Cyan AT&T color or should I use the black Dev Rom?
Thanks

I have only seen the AT&T developers rom for Black. I believe the only difference is what default color the tiles are (matches phone color) and what color the phone reports when plugged in.
I always want the ability yo go back to stock no matter what. Just a safety net for me I guess. Have you tested that method to go back to stock successfully? Just ask because it doesn't seem anyone else had found a successful method.

Yes, you can, using the procedure explained in my last reply. And, yes, I was able to reload the stock (UGH) rom.

After installing Rogers Version 1232, even one update will prevent reloading stock AT&T rom. If you don't flash the stock rom immediately, you risk having the phone being updated automatically.
I think this thread would get more input in the 920 windows phone development section..
Yes the OP says its possible to go back to the ATT stock rom. They say not to let the phone update once on the Rogers preportico rom. From there, flash back to the ATT rom. It's supposed to work every time.

Returning to Stock
Once you have flashed the AT&T Developer ROM, is it possible to flash back to the Rogers Pre-Portico ROM to return to AT&T Stock?
Has anyone tested this?

as explained in the posts above the answer is yes. You can go back to pre-portico Rogers and without running any OTA updates on the pre-portico Rogers (any updates will prevent you to flash to stock ATT) you can go back to stock ATT rom.

Thanks! I just wanted to verify that this works! :good:
When attempting to use NCS, I get the error, "Data package selection failed. Access is denied. Verify credentials."
I'm using 5.0.0 (2013.1.3) and I've moved the .cfg file to the appropriate location. Any ideas?
UPDATE - My problem was resolved by following the flashing procedure in this thread
I'm now running the AT&T GDR2 & Amber update - Thanks!

I don't think this is accurate info, please correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need to do OTA updates while in the pre portico rom in order to flash up to amber rom? I just successfully flashed a Rogers pre portico rom onto my att L920 and flashed back to my original stock rom because for some reason I couldn't flash the att amber dev rom (ID invalid errors) and the only reason I could think of as to why it wouldn't flash for me is because of a lack of OTA updates while in the rogers pre portico rom..

My post was referring to go back to ATT stock rom once you have been to some Amber rom. You can only go back to stock ATT if you reflash with pre-portico Rogers and not have it do OTA. Once you get an OTA you cannot go back to stock ATT. You basically confirmed this. To go to Amber you have to do OTA on the pre portico Rogers.
