[Q] How to backup preinstalled app which is not free - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

dear all,
For several month, i used to be with custom rom. but I need some pre installed app whick is not free like roadsync (it has beautifull interface, and a lot of feature). how do i get it?
i have tried back it up with titanium backup, but it can't restore in custom room. the restore botton is missing
thx if any solution for this

i can't say that you can get this one back.....but for future i will suggest to use
My Phone Explorer(specially designed for SE,Wi-Fi enabled)....which will have the feature for backup-ing and restoring the .akp files from your phone with the help of Wi_fi

where I can get it?

Just move roadsync.apk from /system/app to /data/app, then you can use titanium and make your backup

Still Fail

if you have root explorer, just go to /system/app/ and select the apk you want to back-up and copy it to your sdcard. you can also use Astro file explorer to do that, but you can not move it back to /system/app using astro. (although using root explorer, you can do so).
EDIT: even if you can extract the apk, if you are going to use it in a custom rom, there is no assurance that it will work. but yes, you can try

[Q] Cleanup

hi there i rooted my fone a couple of mins ago using the exploid method (026), it was a great success.., lemme go back to my question.., how can i clean up the apps that i don't need.,
in bin4ry's method (024) on step2 folder there's a file called cleanup.cmd i just have to edit it and run it.., it will remove all the unnecessary apps like the moxiersh*t on my (024) x10i..,
but when i used bin4ry's cleanup.cmd on my (026) is says "mount: operation not permitted"
i know they have different sources, but can somebody help me cleaning up my 026x10i?

Use titanium backup

Did you use the donate or free version of Titanium Backup? I have installed the free version but i still could not figure out how to delete or uninstall unwanted programs. Care to share how you did it? Thanks

long press the app u want 2 delete
nooo i dont need titanium backup.., what i said is.., the CMD(command) file in the root that can cleanup the apps using the computer not the phone itself..,
Jus use the cleanup file.. don't mount your usb, make sure usb debugging is on n c what happens!
as for titanium backup, there's nothing wrong with it.. does the job!! plus the full version can b used to freeze apps to c how the rest of your phone would react if u had actually uninstalled it!!

hi i still can't delete from titanium(free version).it doesn't give me an option to delete.
and from the cleanup file it tells me rm failed.red-only file system
yet the apps are still there!!(moxier, quadrapop etc.)
am i doing something wrong?
Download busybox of market and c if that confirms your root privileges..
if so then go into titanium n try your luck again

use exploid 1.08, once rooted again, open exploid app again, click unsecure shell, rerun the cleanup cmd. u should now be read/write mounted...

Make sure you edit the cleanup.cmd so it doesn't remove stuff you might need or want to keep.

If I remember correctly, what I did was uninstall it with TB, then using roorexplorer navigate to data/app and remove the apk, then went to app-private and removed it from there too.
thanks man, finally got rid of it!

[Q] Installing deleted stock apps

Noobish concern, really. And I couldn't make heads or tails from similarly-named threads.
So what I did is I copied some system apps to a folder on my sd. Thereafter I deleted both apk and odex files from the system/app folder hoping that copying them back will be just as easy.
Earlier today I tried copying the MoviePlayer apk and odex back. While it did copy, no amount of rebooting or cache clearing made it return to my apps list. I tried installing it by just running the apk from the sd but it had a permission issue.
Help on this? I might have other system apps to restore later like the music and messaging apps.
Next time you back up an app, use titanium backup. As for restoring it, you may have to download root explorer. Launch it then navigate to /system/app/ then click mount as r/w then paste the .apk & .odex files.

Titanium may back up a system app, but when you remove it, you can't restore it. God knows, I tried. Instead of the smiley it's just a check and there's no option to restore. Unless I'm doing something wrong here.
I already tried copying the. apk/.odex back in r/w mode using root explorer. That's the first thing I did.
Luckily I did the same thing like you before. You may have to download and flash (SAPPS.zip) or (Custom ROM)- this one I did.

Also, forget stock movie & music player, just use Doubletwist. It's a music and video player with an awesome UI.

I'll try SAPPS. Actually, maybe it's time for me to try a custom rom. de/void has been catching my attention recently.
The only reason why I started with the stock movie player is because I know that's expendable... just wanted to know how hard/easy it would be to put stock apps back.
And yes, I'll give doubletwist a try. Thanks!

DLNA application

I'm currently running Eclipse 0.2.2 and am trying to reinstall the dlna application that came with the phone, but can't (using my titanium backup er... Backup). Are there any alternative apps that do the same thing, or is there a way to reinstall the stock dlna app? Thanks.
(I've tried a couple from the market but none of them can find my Tversity server)

Go here http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x2-hacks/27237-droid-x2-system-dump.html
Download the system dump zip.
Go into zip using root explorer( if I don't have it I recommend buying it its worth it)
go to system folder
go to app folder
Extract all DLNA apks and odex(s)
Go to extracted folder and select the files u just extracted
Move them to your system/app folder after u mount system as r/w using burton on top of root explorer screen.
Remount as r/o then reboot..it should be available now.
good luck
This should also work for other apks. I have been looking for a gingerbread dump if anyone could post that that would be great although I have had no problems installing any of these apks I've tried. Did the music camera toggle widgets etc and all worked no problems.
I will get you guys some of the stock apps and zip them up so they can be flashed.

Open Titanium Backup. Tap and hold on the app and select 'Convert to system app'.
With a root explorer you can also move the app to /system/app and put the correct permissions.

Your tablet needs to be rooted to remove system apps. After that you should be able to use Titanium backup or any root explorer to remove the app.
Not working

Hi, I have already rooted my tab. When I try to use Titanium backup or Root explorer, it says that I cant remove the app because it's read only.
On a lighter note, I hate how my name has been "censored"

Interesting... Are you running a custom ROM, or stock? Second, when using Root Explorer, did you make sure to hit the itty bitty "Mount R/W" button at the top of the file list? Third, have you tried "freezing" the app with Titanium Backup instead of deleting, sometimes that works. Otherwise, you may have to try ADB to remove or rename the apk, or see if someone has a flashable zip for the custom maps apk you need.
