Hellow i recently change my kaiser, my carrier give me almost for free a X10 MINI PRO!!!
now i know there a nice and more better power control widget that i was using in my kaiser with a Cyanogenmod ROM, the files and install instruction are here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/3625-new-power-control-widget-with-one-click-2g3g-toggling/
can this be installed on my X10???
i dont really care if i have to rooted it!
(of course if i can roll back all the changes to factory xDDDDD)
I would say not since cyanogenmod is most likely a 2.1 android enviroment. You could try and tell us how it works

just tell me how to backup my phone or the files to be replaced, and how to recover it from a brick, i woukld use the se software for that?
If you have root use titanium back up. If not the sony ericsson pc suit will allow you to back up your contacts, messages. Maybe settings. Remember to turn on usb debuging before you start. Hope this helps

i mean the ROM, i dont care about data xD
Ok I just got an x10 that is running 1.6. I know nothing about android phones I was an iphone user so this is very new to me. Do I need to upgrade first or do I need to root it first. Can someone please provide me with the links to the threads I need to do this in? Like I said I am very new to this and I do not want to brick this phone. Also whats the latest version that i can upgrade to where everything works
congratulations on turning away from the darkside!.. There are a few things you can do and it really depends on how far you want to push it..
You can upgrade it then root it and stick largely to the stock ROM - remove any of the junk that you don't need but SE thinks you need.. and install JIT (Just In Time Compiler) to improve performance..
or you can go the whole hog and root it, and flash a custom rom onto it.. this option appears to be slightly riskier - a few people seem to have got very messed up phones doing this - but most (99%?) seem to be okay..
My preference is to upgrade to 2.1 (make sure you've got the dual touch version) - because your in America I assume that you have and X10a - so you'll need to download flashtool to your pc from here. and install the canadian X10a firmware.
probably most of what you want to do is here.
I would recommend you to use the Upgrade Service which is available in Sony Ericsson's website. It has detailed on-screen instructions and I think it is the easiest way to upgrade your phone to the newest 2.1 firmware with dualtouch.
After that, you might find it useful to root your device using binary's flash tool (one-click).
Download the flashtool from Androxyde's thread on the Development forum. Then flash the latest 2.1 FW with the latest baseband and Dual touch. Then use the Root option in the flash tool. Then download Root Explorer app and install XRecovery. At that point you can flash any ROM u want without a PC. That is the easiest wasy to do it and if u follow the directions its foolproof.
Do it all in that order.
Edit: There is no reason to use the SE Update Service if you are going to use the flashtool to root. Everything should be done from the flashtool. And nobody who has followed the procedures has "messed up" their phone by doing any of this. Just dont do anything if you dont know what it is or cant find references on how it works. Because the X10 Bootloader cannot be accessed there is virtually nothing you can do to permanently "brick" your phone, any issues that arise can generally be repaired by restoring a backup or reflashing the FW.

don't think he'll be able to upgrade using SEUS.. I don't think that America have released the upgrade! worth a try though, unless someone from that part of the world can confirm
Yes att has no upgrade for USA so don't bother with seus except for repairs.

I agree with this. I started this week with an X10a and fully upgraded to 2.1.1 sumting..anyways I did "brick" my phone once but no worries I just reflashed using the remove battery method and flash tool. While I did have everything working my battery died from a full charge overnight. So now I'm using Erick Will's Custom .435+Arc+Timescape. Most stable from what I've read so far.

I got my X10 about a week ago (was free from my Sony Rep) and as soon as I got it, I rooted and flashed 2.1 on it (baseband .54). To root I used android central sideload wonder machine.
To flash 2.1 I used flashtool as stated in an earlier post. Once 2.1 is installed find the ROM you want to run, and use xRecovery to flash it. I personally think CM 6.1.3 is one the better ROMs out there, but find the one that works for you.

I should make it clear that I fully upgraded to latest Rogers fw using pc companion, saw the incredible drain on battery then bricked my phone. :O I was trying to tweak it and I over-tweaked.

To all of you that are tired of the long, not so simple way to root your Optimus One, I just came across this. Although it says it's for gingerbread, it worked for me. I'm using original 2.2.1 firmware.
Hope you're gonna find this useful!
hi cristi_bostan2005,
thanks for the information. I have tried and it also work with Android Version 2.2.2, software version v10f-FEB-24-2011
Does this mean no need of downgrading any more to install custom roms? Also is it safe to use it on our phone?
this is great news, though I'm still on v10b
where is detail i m not able to see it
thanks for this i rooted my phone using this was running froyo 2.2.2 with out the requirement of downgrade was able to root the phone successfully
? I am not seeing any info regarding app...what is the method?
For those that didn't see the link, here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
It's an app, similar to z4root that can root your phone, without you needing to downgrade as before. It's very simple.
Follow the link, download the latest apk to your phone, install it, run it and that's it!

How many minutes did it take to root the phone? Mine is taking forever... :-S
not very long... about 30 seconds to 1 minute i think ??
Going to reboot and try again then.
but:
Some important things to know:
- You must have USB debugging enabled on your device
- You need to have an SD card (formatted and) inserted
- The APK must be install to device, NOT SD card
- The exploit may take a while to run, but not more than 10 minutes, if it does, get me a logcat, and reboot the device
- Always reboot between root attempts!
- While (temporary?) root access may be attained, due to locked bootloaders, efuses, S-ON, and whatnot this may still not work on your device
- The GingerBreak exploit should not be used to attain temproot and continue using the device. It fscks vold, you do not want to be running like that. You want to reboot! So if the root doesn't stick, you (still) have a problem.
Nope, it wasn't running properly, I waited more than 10 minutes.
I've rebooted and tried to run it again and this time it rooted the phone in less than 30 seconds. It was something that was amiss I guess.
Rooted in few minutes on V10E (2.2.2) Italian No Brand.
is it permanent root? i'm wondering if the phone can still be Unrooted after using this app? sorry for the noob question.

Oh !! Just came across this post would have decreased my pain of downgrading to lower version for rooting which i did a few days ago
Hey guys I had rooted my Acer liquid mini a few months ago using super one click 1.7, it rooted successfully.
Now recently I installed the official gingerbread (2.3.5) update and then after that I couldn't run apps that needed root permission, so I did a root check and it said it wasnt rooted. So here where the problem is whenever I try rooting with super one click 1.7 now it gets stuck at some "pneuter" step or something.
What do I do? I really want to root again but it doesn't seem to be going ahead of this step.
P.S - I have USB de bugging on.

Have you tried rooting using a newer version of Superoneclick?
Yeah I tried v2.3.1 it seems to get stuck at the 3rd step after killing ADB server and starting ADB server. It left it alone for like 5-10 minutes din't seem like the program was responding. I have rooted my cellphone before and it should take nothing more than a minute, I think something is wrong.
Oh and also after the official update I had all my files and apps as I left it before updating that means before updating it must have automatically backed up everything. So it also backed up the superuser app. I had Superuser, titanium backup, ROM manager still installed but couldn't run any of them (since I lost my root permissions). I hope that helped. Just disclosing all the things that happened.

You could try using z4root and/or Gingerbreak.
No z4 didn't work I used 1.3.0. I don't think it has anything to do with the software, I have rooted before and it should work, I think it has something to do with my cell , something to do with the update cuz it dint work after that.:| but I don't know what went wrong.

It is your software. That's why when you root your device, it is advised not to update officially; but instead using a custom rom (based on the updated software version). You were able to root before since your previous firmware was rootable (at least in that way).
Oh damn that means I have to wait till they come out with a root able version of my cellphone? Isn't there any other way out?

Hello!
I was wondering how to know if a Xperia X10 was rooted. And how would I boot to recovery menu if it is?
My girlfriends X10 was locked to Orange and she wanted it unlocked. After phoning Orange to do it they somehow managed to kill her phone! I took it to a phone repair/unlock place and they had it for a couple of days but said they couldn't get it working again. However when I tried it the phone worked fine and was successfully unlocked!
The phone was on gingerbread but is now eclair. Also the boot up sequence has different graphics I've not seen before. I'm assuming the guy in the shop has rooted the phone to install this different version of the OS on, but how can I be sure?!
Thanks for reading!
Cheers
Wagster
Hi guy,
In your menu search for an app named "superuser",if you find it means your gf's device was rooted if not that means that device wasn't rooted.
For xrecovery menu,
Restart the device and when you see Sony Ericsson logo push the back bottom on your phone again and again,if it has xrecovery it goes to the menu..
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately no superuser app and I can't get to recovery so doesn't seem to be rooted.
There's a few apps on there like "AT&T Maps" so it looks like the guy put an AT&T version of android on. How could he do that if it wasn't rooted?
I'll try to find a way to root it and stick cyanogen mod on...
att maps is probably a free app.....use the flashtool to root your phone...its literally the simplest thing.....download the 2.9.1. flashtool in the development thread and turn usb debugging on in your phone...and just click the root button through the flash tool...and it will root it for you...as for xrecovery its the same things...root and clock the recovery button..and its on .....pm me if you get confused
Hit thanks if I helped!

Thanks for your help everyone. I'll give the flashtool a go this evening if my girlfriend lets me!
She quite liked the standard SE gingerbread operating system. What would be the best custom ROM to install to give the most SE like experience whilst retaining useful root & superuser tools?
I'll try to convince her to try Cyanogen mod at some point but I think she'd like to stick with the familiar for now!
Are there any stable (or semi stable) ICS ROMs available yet?!
You can just root it and leave it at that. That way it's just the same but you can use extra stuff etc.
