Alarm volumn - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looks like I found my first real problem. For some reason my alarm app barly outputs any sound at all. Media volume, ringer volume are fine but alarm volume just does not work well.
Before anyone says it, I already manually turned up the alarm volume in settings.
Taking it back today and switching.it for another atrix and hopefully that solves the problem. I need my alarm

No it will no change anything by getting a replacement-phone. Though I do have to say, there are a couple of these alarms that are ridiculously loud. You would have to install a different alarm to your phone. This is how I remedied it, off the market "alarm" or "clock" and there should be one or two that meet your interest. From there you can choose which and then select the loud as hell alarm.

What alarm clock?

Hi guys,
What alarm clock do you use? Since the time I have flashed to the Cingular ROM, the speaker is not (imho) so loud. I really need something to wake me up in the morning
With the European ROM I have been using Sunnysoft Alarm and now it is not so loud. I am using Gentimer now. It seems ok, but is some other alarm clock even louder? (I dont need any mp3 or wma support, just some clock ringing) Thanks
CityTime alarm. You can set there maximum volume and also this nice little app can ignore current profile (i.e. silent) if you want it too. Just try it. It's not free, however. 4ALL
I use the alarm included in settings. It works great and annoying enough to wake me and the whole house.

alarm volume ics 10.6

I have a question about the alarm volume,
I usually sleep with the headphones in listening to Pandora on my vibrant....however the alarm volume is somehow tied to the media volume so when the alarm goes off I never hear it.
is there a work around to have the alarm volume completely separate from the rest of the volumes?

I only see this kind of tweak on cyanogenmod based roms. As passion already have some cyanogen app settings, maybe its something that could come in newer versions.

alarm clock

I've done my search here, android os forums, and elsewhere but I don't see anyone having the same issues.
How can I make my stock alarm clock continue to ring until I manually turn it off? I noticed that my GNote alarm will turn off itself without my intervention and will not go off again like my iPhone use to. This makes the alarm clock useless if my phone is in another room and it stops ringing after it goes off once.
Also, is there a way to turn off the alarm using the side buttons without me having to pull out my phone out of my pocket to turn it off by sliding the screen?
See if Missed Message Flasher helps. Not sure if any of its options helps with the stock alarm clock but repeating any standard notification might.
the stock alarm on mine has the same issue. it plays for 1 minute then stops without any input...
I found two solutions....i set the max snooze setting
I also use alarm clock extreme
Tthe volume keys should silence it...do they not

Has anyone tried the "smart alarm" setting? If you click it you can set it up to 30 minutes - maybe that means it will keep going off for 30 minutes???

Separate ringtone volume from alarm volume

My wife has a non rooted 3d and since she took the ics update the alarm won't sound unless the ringer is turned on even if the alarm volume is turned up. Has anyone had this problem and able to fix without rooting?

The original fix for that was an app from the Play Store called Enhanced Ringer Control.
Since then, a couple of other apps became available that were linked in this post. AFAIK, none of these require root.
There may be more apps available by now but those are the ones I know about. CM9 has separate volume controls as well but you would need to be rooted to flash that.

So I tried each of those apps plus one or two others, but the alarm still fails to sound if the ringer volume is off. Those apps did separate the ringer and notification volume though. Maybe I just need to convince my wife to root her phone and flash another rom...
Anyone have any other ideas to fix?

Maybe something like Tasker. Set it to turn the ringer/alarm volume up when an alarm triggers and then turn back down.

I have a little tasker task that controls my alarm volume on my HTC desire with leedroid. When the alarm sounds it slowly increases the alarm volume to wake me more gently. I've migrated my Tasker settings across to my HTC One X with Maximus 3.2 rom on it. My alarm does sound with the ringer volume right down but the alarm volume increase task doesn't appear to trigger or if it does the alarm volume remains unchanged.
Really did like my gentle alarm task...
Anyone know where to start?

[Q] Any way to silence alarms?

I've spent about two hours trying to figure out a way to put my phone in a state that silences the alarm sound and vibration when silencing the rest of the phone. I have tried:
- The free Smart Profiles app
- Tasker
- The phone's "Mute" setting (accessed by long-press of power button)
In all cases the alarm will still sound when it goes off. Does anyone know of a way to COMPLETELY silence the phone, including alarms, aside from turning all the individual alarms off?
Wouldnt that be defeating the purpose of having alarms? The only other option is to turn the phone off. But I assume you just want to use it on silent.
Try android assistant.

I guess it depends on how one uses alarms. I do use an alarm to wake me up, but I don't put my phone into silent or vibrate mode at night. I also use alarms as reminders, which is apparently the problem here. I have daily alarms to let me know when it's noon, for lunch, and 8pm, for my son's bedtime. Last night I was at a movie during the 8pm alarm. I expected that silent mode would silence the alarm but obviously it didn't. Silent mode on my old HTC incredible would silence the alarms, so that's what I'm used to.
Maybe I need to find another way to handle my daily reminder alarms.
Can't you just turn off the alarm and then back on when you need it?

I'm looking for a one-touch solution to completely silence the phone. On my HTC Incredible I could put it into silent mode with one touch and know that the alarms were also silent. It seems like the stock alarms on the S4 are such that they can't be silenced any way other than individually going in and turning them off. At this point I'm exploring 3rd party alarm/reminder apps to handle the daily alarms that I want to be able to silence, but if anyone knows a way to silence the stock alarms with a one-touch solution please let me know.

So you powered down your phone at the movies and it still beeped?
I'm a little concerned about this, too.
I ALWAYS turn my phone off at the movies. ALWAYS. How does it turn back on for the alarm?
I am using Widgetsoid for most of my switching needs. There is not a single button to make the alarms shut up, but there is a button that allows you to open a window with a slider for every sound on the phone, including alarms.
Phase 1. Install Widgetsoid, convert to /system app if rooted; it will enable some of the functions like GPS one-touch toggle
Phase 3. Profit
What you need is " audio manager pro". It's $2.99 but exactly what you need/want. You set profiles and there is a toggle widget to change between all of them.
Hope that helps, it sounds like EXACTLY what you asked for.

Please read what I wrote. I never said I powered down my phone. I set it to silent. Powering down your phone will indeed silence the alarms, so there's nothing for you to worry about.
I don't think there's an app that can provide what I'm looking for. I already use Smart Profiles to change my phone settings with one click. All of my testing shows that the version of Touchwiz on my Galaxy S4 does not have a setting that will silence the alarms. The decision by Samsung seems to be that the built-in alarms are for things you want to hear, even if you've set your phone to Silent or Vibrate mode.
Test this for yourself. Turn ALL of your volume levels to zero and then set an alarm using the built-in Clock app. I've done this multiple times and the alarm sounds every time.
I have solved my problem by switching to using Alarm Clock Plus. It's free, and let's you select whether you want each individual alarm to sound when the phone is in silent mode or not.
Maybe there's a way to silence the built-in alarms if you're rooted, but that's well beyond my pay-grade.

Those are not alarms. Alarms means make enough most to wake me up. Those are reminder notifications for calendar events. It sounds like you are expecting the alarm clock to act like calendar.

I registered only to say that I also use/used the alarms as reminders for things like medications, school being let out, etc. I recently switched from an HTC Thunderbolt to an S4 and figured out the new alarm problem. I don't want my calendar being cluttered with these daily items. I was at back to school night and had my phone on silent when a "reminder" went off. I felt horrible!
