Hi there,
as I had not much time last weeks and months I only read a little bit in this forums but didn't touch the system on my X10. Now I have a little bit time and want to update my phone to latest official firmware (I know there will be 2.3.3 soon, but I want to update before) and get root.
Currently I have the first 2.1 update which appeared, without multitouch, but with the ability to get root with the z4root app. Here more data on my version:
Build: 2.0.A.0.504
BB: 2.0.46
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Generic Germany and rooted!
What I want: Latest official update through SEUS + root + maybe JIT if possible.
Can you guys help me please and write down the steps (maybe with links) I have to do.
I am on windows 7 32bit now.
Thanks in advance!
PS: if you need an Google+ invitation pm me
Ok, now I updated to the latest SEUS version, and lost root of course. My data, apps and config is still there after update.
Now how is the easiest way to bring root back and maybe enable JIT. With flashtool? Any chance to keep config + apps?
I am now on:
BB 2.1.67
Fw 2.1.B.0.1
Thanks for help!

Yes, with flashtool. On your phone go into Settings / Applications and unable unknown sources and usb debugging. Leave phone on and connect via usb to flashtool. Work your way left to right on the tabs on the flashtool. Optimize tab is JIT.
Thank you for the fast reply! So will I lose my data while flashing or does the fashtool has a backup option? Do I need to flash the baseband too?
Thanks again!

I don't know why people think you need to flash the baseband separate. It's part of the firmware, which you already have from SEUS.
No, rooting and optimizing will not wipe data.
when i got this phone(x10a) around ~6 months ago i upgraded the firmware to 2.1-update 1, the baseband to 2.1.54. I rooted the phone, installed xrecovery, drivers etc...
Im looking to upgrade the firmware to 2.3 and possibly getting cyanogenmod. I know that you have to root the phone before you install 2.3, but will upgrading the baseband, or upgrading to 2.3 remove my current root access?
No it won't remove your root access.Mostly because the ROM is already pre-rooted.However,there's a step you need to do after flashing to 2.3 that is upgrading the baseband before turning on the phone.Failure to do this, your phone may not work.
Try this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988
There's a basic guide there for 2.1 to 2.3 upgrade along with a video tutorial.
Hi, apologies if this has been covered but i couldn't find anything specific on this.
I got the ICS 4.0.3 upgrade yesterday for my S2, but my root access seems to have disappeared (upgrade was the official Voda UK upgrade via Kies). I originally followed the instructions on this forum to root the phone a few months ago. Titanium backup has stopped working
Presumably I need to re-root? If so, should I follow the identical instructions which I used for rooting my 2.3.5 version?
Cheers
Wat lp version is it? Just install cf root kernel and u should be fine. Or speed mod. Up to you.
Yes the same instructions, just make sure you root using a cf-root kernel for ICS

Hi,
I apologise for asking this question if it has already has been answer.
But how can i update my EVO3D GSM (Rogers) if i am running a Custom Firmware?
I tried manually checking for software updates, but it just loads and loads....never stops!
I am running a custom ICS firmware btw.
Thanks for your reply & again i humbly apologise if it has already been asked.
Hi!
You have to downgrade your software again for stock settings (factory reset). After that the official upgrade is working again.
It is not possible for a custom rom to upgrade to an official rom!

Stock means your phone is untouched, as it came from the manufacturer/provider.
OTA refers to the "Over The Air" updates which come from the manufacturer or provider. They are actually one and the same thing. You will receive a notification when an OTA update is available for your stock phone. You then download the update, and install it. Your phone is still stock, but running the latest version of the operating system.
