Is it just me or you guys have the same issue? So I am on EB01 Modem, EB01 Super Clean Rom, non voodoo. If you wake up your phone and try to access internet, like launching browser or pandora, you get disconnected from 3G for several seconds, which gives error, that connection is lost. But after having phone in awake state for several minutes, the problem disappears until next sleep.
Is that what that means. You get 3g icon with a letter d underneath it means disconnect? Or? Standby?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Immediately after I wake up my phone, when app tries to reach Internet, I get 3G D first, then 3G icon disappears completely. App that tried to get data errors out, saying No coverage or no data. After ~30 seconds 3G icon appears again with arrows blinking and everything works fine. And data works fine until you put your phone to sleep. Then it happens again.
D = Dormant.
good day.

check you task killers and other battery optimization apps. I had Juice Defender on and it did the same thing. Uninstalled it, back to normal.
I don't have anything installed. It is like that even on clean system, after wipe. I tried the same on Rubix ROM, which I very like, and it has the same behavior. I suspect its a new modem or kernel, because changing ROM doesn't fix the issue. I going to try to flash DL09 modem for now to see if it will fix the issue.
After flashing DL09 modem issue solved! (NO ITS NOT)
For those who looking for old modems:
DJ05 modem
DL09 modem
Edit: Well... actually the issue is not solved with DL09. This morning it crashed my modem and issue is still unsolved. I flashed DJ05 modem right now. Let's see if that will help.
Edit2: No, DJ05 did not solved the issue either. So it is not Modem's fault. Any suggestions?
I let it sleep for 5 minutes, woke it up and it lost 3g connection again. So it shows 3G icon, but really it doesn't have connection. Then after ~15 seconds 3G Icon disappears like someone turned off 3G Data. After another 15-30 seconds, 3G works again, Icon appears ok, everything works. I don't know what to do.
This sucks....
Having same issue and if I download anything have to leave my screen on to finish it or I loose connection....
Well, I used ODIN to reflash to stock DI01 package. Kernel, Modem, Rom all matching and factory. I cleaned everything, did factory reset, re-programmed the phone using options 1 and 2. Then I got the Verizon update EA28 and installed it too. It installed successfully. I lost root. And guess what? That DID NOT fixed the issue. 3G connection is still shuts off for 30 seconds when I try to access Internet after I wake up the phone.
Well, I went to Verizon and they offered me a replacement. I agreed.
Any ideas why this is happening? I noticed this started to happen when I flashed EB01 modem. But I am not sure if modem is the one to blame. One of the Kernels I flashed at some point maybe? I flashed jt's Adrenalyne's kernels. Reason why I am asking is I don't want to repeat the same story with new replacement phone. Not that I am complaining here I just want to understand what caused the issue and the reason why this issue persists after I flashed phone back to stock?
Since upgrading to the EB01 Froyo leak (debinged/deodexed) I have wifi issues where every 3 or 4 times I attempt to enable it, it will fail, and show "Error" under the Wi-Fi settings (where it ususally says in blue text "Turn on Wi-Fi", "Connecting..." "Connected to <network>", etc). I finally got the log message associated with it, and was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to address this?
From what I gather insmod is the kernel's mechanism for (in this case) loading the wifi driver, so this would be an issue with the kernel? So now what?
E/WifiHW ( 2467): return of insmod (args:firmware_path=/system/etc/wifi/bcm4329_sta.bin nvram_path=/system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt dhd_watchdog_ms=10 dhd_poll=1) : ret = -1, Invalid argument
At first I thought a reboot was necessary to get it to attempt to reload the driver, but I've since found clearing level 2 ram in the task manager does the trick. Still a big PIA though.
Thanks for any help.

So, if I'm not mistaken I can just install the non-voodoo zip w/ Red CWM directly over EB01 with no wiping/cache clearing, etc, and be up and running with no data or configuration loss? Sounds like a pretty quick and easy way to fix my issue.
I haven't been following the EC10 thread, but I just took a look and looks like the static issue when the screen comes on during a call is fixed as well, the only other issue I've had.
Guess I may have to give it a shot! How long have you been using it?
KF
I've been using it for a couple days and have to say that it combined with SuperClean 2.9 has made my phone super smooth. I haven't found a single glitch so far.
Took the plunge and updated to EC10 last night. I've had only a brief time to play around with it, but so far so good with the wifi. Thanks for the help!
Could just be my mind playing tricks on me, but I could swear in general everything is more responsive as well... Not only loading apps, but when I brought up navigation this morning I've never once seen it lock on and start driving directions this fast.
Nevermind... Same problem still with EC10. Got my hopes up there for a minute.
I got the same problem with SC 2.9.2v and had with any other SC Froyo build. I'm using JuiceDefender so WiFi is turned on/off lot of times (every 15 minutes on schedule or when screen is unlocked). Usually once or twice a day I find that there is an error with WiFi and the only way to fix it is to wait couple of minutes and try turning it on manually or switch to airplane mode on/off.
I also use JuiceDefender w/ Wifi. If it doesn't occur less often with EC10 (too soon to tell still), I'll have to disable the wifi controls in JD so it's toggled on/off far less frequently.
Glad to see I'm not the only one seeing it. I bet the JD users will just notice it more since we are loading the wifi driver all the time.
Kidd_Funkadelic
And thanks for the airplane mode tip- I'll have to try that. I was clearing level 2 ram in task manager to do it. AM would be slightly more convenient.
jt1134's source build EC10 didn't help, still having same problem with WiFi. My log is showing the same thing.
At least the new kernel fixed the static issue. One thing at a time, right? I hope that this means there will be ED01 kernel drop
Actually, maybe April Fool's day is a bad choice...
What radio are you using? EB01?
Yes, I did the full Froyo update to EB01 over the stock 2.1 Verizon eclair, then installed the EC10 specifically for this issue. That's all I've done. Oh, went back into CWM after seeing the problem for a few days to clear the Dalvik cache. That's all I've done to date...
OK so it's not radio related but kernel/rom then. I'm on EA28 radio cause I had problems with missed calls with EB01.
Solutions? Bump?
Sorry for reviving this thread, but I have what I think is the same problem (on EB01).
My wifi always works after a reboot, but then if I turn it off and try and turn it back on, it gives me an error message until I either
A) reboot the phone
or
B) repeatedly turn it on and off again (usually takes 3 or 4 times to work again)
Anyone else having this specific problem or know how to fix it?

I was able to get rid if the problem by using Auto Killer Memory Optimizer. It turned out to be a memory issue. Use one of the preset profiles, like aggressive, and see how you do. I was having the problem several times a day and it never came back.
Or, upgrade to PWGB, which takes care if the problem too and doesn't require messing with memory mgmt settings...
Hi guys,
First of all, I am quite new with Rooting, and putting roms on my phone. But I really like it, so I'm doing a lot of research to it atm
Two days ago, I decided to put CM7.1 on my Desire HD, together with the LorDModUE V8.1 kernel. Everything works just perfect, I really like it.
However, I do have one pretty big problem, and that has to do with wifi.
When I am upstairs, where my router is, my wifi works fine. But when I go downstairs, my wifi becomes ''unstable''. It still has connection with my router, but with a lower signal. Well, that isn't a problem really, but the problem is, is that my wifi signal becomes white after a while.
This still doesn't have to be a big problem, but for me it is, because my internet isn't working anymore, when I am having a white wifi signal! When I try to load a website on my phone, it just won't load. it is like it freezes, because it does not say I have no wifi signal.
So, I am still connected to my wifi, but it doesn't load any websites, or any other programs that require internet acces.
Then, when I reboot, it works fine again! but only for some time, it is really random.
This is only when I am downstairs. as I said, upstairs, at my router, it works perfectly.
What I already tried:
- Set my wifi options to static IP
- Downloaded wifi fixer
- reboot
- airplane mode
I really don't know where to find the solution. I could try to reinstall cm7.1, without that kernel, but I really like that kernel, so I prefer not to reinstall anything. But if that is really necessary, so be it
I would like to hear from you!
Niels
I think your problem is screen off and on, signal become white right?
If so, I think you forgotten to switch "WiFi sleep policy" to never in WiFi setting

Thanks for your quick reply, but that also does not help. I already tried that aswell, but I forgot to mention it.. it is already set to 'never'.. :/
HTC has better WiFi chips than Samsung.
Check with your kernels developers whether it has WiFi "N" router setting included. The "N" (larger WiFi range router support"
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Hmm, It doesn´t seem to have that..
I guess I will have to reinstall cyanogen, and install a different/stok cm7 kernel then?
I made a screenshot on how it looks like, now it has a green connection, but the internet load bar sort of ''freezes''
* Oh, can't enter any link before I reached the 8th post >.<*
My sense wildfire has WiFi "N" rounter support in custom kernel

As the title said, my Verizon Fascinate scans WiFi every 2-3 seconds and a MAJOR drain in my battery. I believe it started when I flashed EH03 radio, but not really sure if that's the main issue. I have TSM Resurrection 2.1 ROM installed. My kernel is right now geewiz-2.5-kernel (updated on 1/22/12) but I also used KGB-EH03-FA16 Kernel with the same problem. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?
Please help!!!
You can set your wifi scan interval in the build.prop, I know there are other ways to do it too. A quick googling should yield a more helpful answer regarding all the ways it can be done.
I thought it only scanned when it's turned on and not already connected to a network though, are you turning it off when you're not using it? I guess I can't really see how else it would be draining your battery.

Thanks! I will look up the build.prop solution to wifi scan issue. The problem is that it scans continuously regardless of whether it's connected to any network or not. And yes, I have to keep it turned off when I'm not using it.
*update* I checked the build.prop setting and it was set for 120. I'm assuming this is in seconds so shouldn't the wifi should only scan every 2 minutes??? I changed the setting to 600s=10min, but it still scans continuously What's going on???
You're correct, the interval you see in the build.prop is in seconds. If that isn't helping then I'm not really sure.. How can you tell it's continuously scanning? Is it an app you're using that shows this?

The little wifi icon in the status bar keeps going on and off. And when I tried to used the market app, it constantly said I needed a wifi connection.
Anyways, after some additional investigation, I tried turning off and resetting my wireless router - and it worked!!! I'm not sure if that was the only reason for continuous wifi scan, but at least it's not scanning every 2-3 secs now. Well, it hasn't for the last 24 hours, so hopefully it will stay that way
Glad it's sorted! I couldn't really tell from your posts exactly what was happening, but if it's doing that when you have wifi on and (hopefully) connected, then it sounds like more an issue with your wifi connection itself as opposed to just the phone's.
About the wifi scan interval in the build.prop, I believe that just refers to how often it will look for a connection when wifi is on, but not connected to a network.

yes that is correct. I also agree with the issue being related to the wifi and not the phone. i hardly use the wifi on my phone but when i do, i never have that problem. i got grandfathered into the unlimited data from verizon, so wifi for me is pretty much useless.
The short of it is, my Wifi crapped out for reasons beyond my experiences thus far.
The long of it. I flashed epinter's 07/25/2012 Nightly and everything seemed to be working nicely, Wifi especially. Then today, out running errands and dropped my Atrix in my Car Dock and attempted to turn on Bluetooth for the first time since flashing, and the device froze then restarted. Once back up, I tried turning Wifi back on, and the device froze again and restarted. Thinking maybe the radio driver went south, I grabbed epinter's 07/27/2012 build (epinter-cm10-20120727_1846-UNOFFICIAL-olympus.zip), and still no luck. Back into Recovery, Wiping everything and also factory resetting then flashing twice over again, boot up, still no wifi, and if it manages to seemingly fire up, the device hangs and restarts.
Within the last 2 hours (Been at this for about 12 hours now.) I grabbed Jokersax's build (Beta 0.1.0), wiped/reset/flash twice as I have before. Now as I take a breath I noticed that the Wifi Icon came up in the Notification bar, but when I go into Settings and Scan, I see none of the Networks around me. I looked under Advanced and noticed that my MAC Address is 'Unavailable' nor am I showing an IP address, even though Wifi is saying 'On'. Verified on my Router, my Phone is not connected to it.
Odd Side note, installed aLogcat just to see if I could catch any errors, and it is not giving me anything, that is, I am not seeing any logs through the app. Most likely an unrelated issue, but still a tad annoying.
Everything else seems in order, including Mobile Data (Able to access Web Pages, Market/Play Store, receive email, etc.). Just Wifi pretty much 'Lights are on, but no one is Home.'. Any suggestions on next steps?
We discussed this issue over in some other threads and conclusion is that it's a hardware malfunction Ur broadcom chip is burned, many people (including me) had that problem.

I need to really work on my searching, tried several variations of 'atrix WiFi cm10' and could not pin down a related thread.
But back on topic, CRAP! What I was hoping was not the case. Thanks for the reply, will continue to dig for those threads and cross fingers the chip really is not fried (doubtful but hey, people can dream right?).
Thank you for the reply.

I can't search the threads right now as i am typing from my phone-search is limited to 20-30 posts... But keywords for ur search should be : "atrix wifi error" or "wifi and bluetooth error on atrix" Several forums have this kinda threads, not just xda unfortunately ... seems like it's very often malfunction on this lovely phone. We're talking fastboot wipe kind of clean install? Going to give that a go as a last attempt, will post results here.
Glimmer of hope tonight, was discussing the problem with a friend, went to turn on WiFi and it actually scanned and connected for about 2 minutes before crapping out. This tells me there maybe life to the chip still. Now to get fastboot to connect and try a wipe and see what happens.

Any news on this front? I am one of the afflicted as well.
I'm having a similar issue. though my BT works just fine, no delays, no errors, no intermittance.
Wifi, I can scan for networks just fine. i click on mine to connect. it shows connecting, noting that when it says connecting the signal shows 1 bar as compared to the full set of wifi bars when scanning, i am also right next to the AP. is tries connceting for about 20 seconds or so. then goes back to saying "saved" under the SSID, other networks showing "disabled" when this happens. i originally noticed this after flashing epinters cm10. i tried flashing 37p, 36p and 30p radios with no difference.
EDIT: also want to note that i HAVE disabled the "avoid poor connections" option. and have tried setting static IP.
I flashed the same and I am unable to get my wifi to work after clean wipe, radio install or anything else that I have tried. Could software have really burned up a wifi radio????

Mine works occasionally so I don't think the radio is dead. The rom just acts like it's not there most of the time and doesn't give a mac address. Sometimes it works though after a reboot. Would flashing a different radio help? My baseband version says N_01.77.37P
I had an IP and a MAC, but no wifi internet.
Using mobile data, I downloaded Set DNS and then enabled wifi, works fine.
Now it's working but mobile data is going very very slow, it took 5min to download Set DNS.
I have a skyrocket but the "no wifi" issue is probably the same - your not getting DNS
I'm going back to CM9 for now.
+1 wifi matter under CM10
Try rebooting the router.
Experienced same issue (unable to connect, showing full bars, dropping to 1 bar when connecting and never being able to complete a connection) rebooting my router has fixed the issue. I'm not technical but it might have to do with the DNS release for addresses .. in any case unplugging my router for a bit and restarting it fixed the issue for me.
