hey guys, so i was wondering that if i could reduce the vibration when i recieve a txt message..
ive seen it drains alot of battery.. and when it vibrates..it last for about 3-4 seconds and i dont really need that much to know i have a message..
if you guys know about and app or mod to control the lengh of this ..tell me please..i would love to
Thanks would be given
There is not a way i know of that will do this within the software pre se. You could try turning haptic feedback on system-wide and then in your keyboard settings turn it off (I use Swype and it has a check box for "Vibrate on keypress")
But If you use some other messaging app (maybe handcent) you may have better control
I messed with it a long time ago and really never found a solution just some hacky work arounds
Thnx oka...i think hacks should make it but no idea to do it

I know stock messaging it has the standard vibration that lasts for the 3-4 second duration with no altering. I use Handcent that you can customize the vibration to last as long or as little as you want.
Handcent is the way to go. You can customize everything about your notification.
Thank you guys i will try ot...stock messaging drinks my battery in minutes...i did a test

I have been using NoLED since it was a beta, now the app is on the market with a lot of customization. You can put different colors for sms, call, emails, etc.
Sometimes the application doesn't work proper. Maybe is me. I LOVE IT don't get me wrong.
I was reading and came across another application is call Missed Message. This application turn on and off the screen when you get a notification. I am using this application for a week now and is very effective.
What I like about NoLED is the color.
What I dont like about NoLED is that if you dont realize it will drain your battery.
What I like about Missed Message is that does do job because the screen on and off is very noticeable. Also that you can set up the intervals of on and off after certain time and after 5 hours it just stop workin
What I dont like about Missed Message is that is not customization.
What do you think about this apps. Which one are you using?
I haven't tried missed message, but I have used noLED. The potential was there, but it was just too buggy for me. I'm bout to give missed message a try. I was using sms popup. It worked quite well.
does it blink the whole screen? I wonder if it would be possible to blink a pixel lol

It blink the whole screen. You can make it blink for how many milisenconds you want and how often.
i think the newest version of noled lets you customize how long the app keeps showing missed items so you dont kill your battery
NoLED is better. You can set timeout for ir now if that was your only concern.

I have been looking at the Notification Vibration in a number of Apps and don't seem to be having any luck.
As an example on my Galaxy Tab I have sound ON and in the Twidroyd App I have it set to Vibrate on Alerts which it plays both a Notification sound AND vibrates strongly.
However, on the SGS II with the same settings in Twidroyd it will only play the sound but will not vibrate.
Note: Both phones main settings/sound settings/ vibrate is set to Always.
Has anyone else experienced no notification vibration?
EDITED:
Sorted ~ See Post 16.
It was the App Volume Ace which had turned off Vibration Notifications.
I have the same kind of problem.
Incoming calls, the phone sounds but no vibration. In settings, vibration is set to "Always".
Any idea please ?!?
Thanks
Well I am pleased someone finally decided to add a comment here, even if it were only to agree.
I find it difficult to accept that everyone is happy their SGS2 has no vibration notification.
Come on members... voice your thoughts.
Only with your input can we then investigate further.
Hey, I found something interesting that brings the vibration to my incoming calls. Maybe it's gonna help you.
1. in Settings/Sound make sure you set "Always" to Vibration
2. Put a cross to Haptic feedback then set your intensity
3. Desactivate Haptic feedback
I tried to call my SGS2 and the vibration came with the ringtone.
Last step, I re-activated the Haptic feedback and vibration is still working with the ringtone.
PS : hope you understood my english...

What ROM version are you using?
Haven't tried this yet but if it does work well done but obviously there is an error on the phone in that it should work by default yet takes this weird method to activate it.
Now what about other vibration alerts..... any takers?
I'm using the latest XWKE7 with a root SGS2
The others vibration alerts seems to work good.

Interesting...... So this may be an issue with stock roms.
I have decided to wait until Gingerbread 2.3.4 before updating as apart from the dreaded no vibration notifications everything else seems great.
I'd like to hear from any other members please.... if only to say their vibration notifications work/don't work and what rom they are on... Thanks.
Mine rings and vibrates on incoming call. Vibrate is set to always and I've not noticed any issues.
Maybe its the ringtone that you're using?
Notifications seem fine too e.g. on whatsapp.
Oh and I'm on stock.

What about other notifications.
I.e. on my Tab whenever I receive a tweet I hear the notification and it vibrates.
The SGS2 only plays the audio notification.
Yeh other notifications from apps where I've set to vibrate seem fine.
I actually downloaded Twydroid to test it out - set notifications for tweets, mentions and DMs and set to vibrate but all I got was the sound. Weird.

I'm pleased you chose Twydroid as that is the twitter App I use.
You say other Apps though work.
Can you tell me of one so that I can instal and try it out to see if I can get the vibration to work.

I have the XDA App installed and that doesn't play vibration alerts.
Re Facebbok it won't let me sign in so will have to try that again.
However what concerns me is you say XDA works for you yet fire me nothing.... no vibration.
Need to look more into XDA when I get out of theatre.
Just about to go in for a short surgery.
Catch you later have to prep.
Thanks.
Sorted....... and it was unbelievably simple (and stupid of me not to notice).
The 'culprit' (although I share blame in not noticing) was the App 'Volume Ace' which I had already installed some time ago.
Last night after theatre I checked thoroughly all the Apps that should be sending a vibration notification and there was nothing untoward that showed any sign the Apps would hit a problem with a vibration alert.
Next step was to look again at my settings..... nothing wrong there.
Finally I then started to methodically go through each App which had some form of control to Sound.
It was not long before I found when you brought up the window of Volume Ace there was something I had previously missed.
Take a look at the first screen picture in the link I have highlighted above and if you look 'ever so' closely at the second volume control, to the right is a 'vibration' icon.
This icon was not lit up. So I tapped on the icon, this changed it's appearance to bright orange and closed the window down.
As I receive tweets every couple of minutes or so it was not long before Twydroid sent me an audio notification AND yes.... a vibration one as well.
So, all sorted.
Thank you to all those who have participated. I now am going to find a quiet room to hide my face of shame.
Ha no worries, glad you got it sorted and hope all went ok with your op, cheers

Yes, it's now performing just as it should and I still can not believe how simple it were in the end. Very unusual for me to miss something like this.
It would be easy for me to put it down to the 22 operations I have performed this past week and say they have kept me busy but that would only be an excuse.
Not to be picky, but looking at the thread title looks like it was the app (Volume Ace) misbehavior.
You can change the same setting in the stock/built in settings, the app will just reflect that change.
I've notice that lately the vibration on the phone and keyboard just stops it seems to do it when im typing I have to either re start the phone or go to setting under sound and vibrate and put it on never back on to always ....is there any fix for this?

Same problem here.
Any ideas?

Try a 3rd party keyboard. A lot of them are much better and don't seem to lose their vibration settings.
My two suggestions: Better Keyboard 8 or Smart Keyboard Pro. Either along with the Rapid skin to make it look similar to the stock keyboard, but nicer.
I mean really, does anyone find it really irritating when you playing around with your phone and all sudden incoming call popup taking whole screen???
I dont want to use airplane mode, i just need a mod or app to make incoming caller like flash in taskbar only, if i feel like answering, i could like pull it down from the taskbar.
Also i REALLY need mod for disabling the damn low battery popup, or atleast let me myself decide when battery is low, and only 1 warning, i would set it for 2%, also i hate the fact that camera is disabled at lowbatt, what if you're out at night, 5% left on your great Galaxy S3, suddenly you see ufo landing with aliens, wow i need to take a picture or video...oh crap "camera can't start, low batt" whatta f*** also hate the fact that brighness automatically goes dark. I hate this sorta dumbass automation, i want to ude my phone till 0% batt damned!
I'm using omega rom v11 with kernel came with it, also installed custom theming, but geeez am i annoyed by these limitations, jkay had great tools for S2, but i'd love to keep using omega rom.
Anyone??? Solutions??

Or more like notification bar, not taskbar. Call blockers dont have this option.

I totally agree and have been looking for solutions. In Dragon ICS you could install tweakbox to do the job. Now I'm on JB 1.7, Dragon Rom but it is not possible anymore.
Have you found a solution in the meantime?
Thanks in advance.
Saw my friends iPhone do it, so I got curious if we could have it on our beautiful Amaze's. I tried uploading the apk itself but there was no option on the phone app for xda. Anyway credit goes to the developer for this brilliant app, just thought of sharing it with you guys. Hit the thanks button when you go on the app developers page! Link is below. Enjoy!
And btw it works flawlessly on the Amaze. Currently running Speed Rom 7!

Very nice and useful app have been using it for close to a week after you posted this link thank you for the heads up on this beast now I rarely miss sms and call notifications if my phone is on vibrate and just lying somewhere in the house (the folks think my phone is having an epileptic seizure )

Although this app is cool. I can't seem to keep the preferences I set. Every reboot I have to open the app and just exit out of it for it to see my flash duration and interval. It's set to 1 & 1. So it just gives me a quick 2 blinks. But overall I'm pretty satisfied with the function and doesn't seem to consume that much more battery.

Sorry. I figured it out. I comprehended the details from the creator of the app. It seems that when you have the phone on and using it the flash just flashes away like crazy. But when the phone is off the settings are used. Kinda annoying but this app is nice. I pike to annoy people with it when its dark.
