X10 Headphone port not working - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
I have a SE Xperia X10 which I upgraded to CM 6.1.3 V4.4 yesterday.
So far it is working GREAT, but I am unable to play music through the headphone port.
I'm using the official SE headphones, and I'm certain that they are working fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't seem to find any thread that has anyone else having this problem.
Regards
Hamzah

I got the same problem, only after upgrading to 2.1.
My solution is to try a few times untill the phone recognizes the headphones, might take some time thought, Sony couldn't find the problem

The strange thing is, when I use adb logcat, it looks like the phone is detecting that something was plugged into the socket, and even the remote control works, but no sound.
I tried connecting my desktop speakers to it, and strangely I hear a very strange sound like it is trying to output sound, but failing.
Anyone have any ideas?
I've attached the output of logcat.

lol I had to laugh when I read this
V/HeadsetObserver( 1573): Headset UEVENT: {SUBSYSTEM=switch, SWITCH_STATE=2, DEVPATH=/devices/virtual/switch/h2w, SEQNUM=1455, ACTION=change, SWITCH_NAME=Headset}
V/HeadsetObserver( 1573): Intent.ACTION_HEADSET_PLUG: state: 1 name: Headset mic: 0
W/Vold ( 1445): Ignoring unknown switch 'Headset'
and then right after this
D/dalvikvm( 2210): GC_EXPLICIT freed 711 objects / 31624 bytes in 29ms
D/dalvikvm( 2115): GC_EXPLICIT freed 695 objects / 34520 bytes in 74ms
V/HeadsetObserver( 1573): Headset UEVENT: {SUBSYSTEM=switch, SWITCH_STATE=0, DEVPATH=/devices/virtual/switch/h2w, SEQNUM=1456, ACTION=change, SWITCH_NAME=No Device}
W/TimedEventQueue( 1450): Event 238 was not found in the queue, already cancelled?
W/Vold ( 1445): Ignoring unknown switch 'No Device'
D/dalvikvm( 2303): GC_FOR_MALLOC freed 2801 objects / 217096 bytes in 54ms
How's it going to recognize the name "headset" then plain out ignore it??
Ignoring "no device" well I'm ok with that. lol

Hi,
I'm having the same problem... I tried looking for any errirs using logcat. But there was nil.
Also, I have pulled the phone apart and removed the headphone jack and had a quick looksies at it. Everthing seemed a.o.k. and Audio on the headset even worked for a while. But it stopped again.
Does anyone have any idea of whats causing this, i.e. Hardware/Software bug.
I've tried it using stock SE 2.1 and Wolfbreak's V008 to no avail on my X10i.

I am having this same issue on my wife's x10. Seems like a hardware issue since it has done the same thing with stock 2.1, Wolf's TW Gingerbread, and is still doing it on MIUI pRiMe. The sound through the headphones works sometimes for a few seconds to a minute, but always cuts out. When it cuts out, the headset icon on the notification bar goes out. we have had these for less than a year. Is this something SE will fix under warranty?

Just spoke with SE and they will do a warranty repair on the phone. Now I just need to relock the bootloader and repair with SEUS.

Aw, I got this problem today, and googled this thread. This seems to be a common problem - a plug-in checking sensor has failed. And I even found someone to solve this hardware problem by himself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472440
But I finally come to an easy solution: to install a widget called "Toggleheadset2" . All it does is to bypass the hardware check and force audio to play by headphones.
So every time I just click the widget to turn my headphone on/off. I think I can live with it.
It works on my 2.3 system, and I Hope this information could help someone.

[Q] kaosfroyo; 3.5mm audio output registering as microphone

I searched first, and can't find the solution to this problem: Since upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2, the audio jack in my car that leads to a cassette adapter is registering on the Eris as a headset w/mic. This becomes a problem when I want to do a hands-free call.
It used to be on 2.1 with the same hardware that while listening to music in my car, if a call came in, the music would mute and I could speak and the phone's internal mic would pick me up. Now, with 2.2., it seems to be expecting the sound to come in from an external mic.
Any help in fixing this would be appreciated! This is one that will send me back down to 2.1 unfortunately, as hands-free calling is kind of key for me being on the road a lot.
I found this similar question from 2008, unfortunately unanswered:

Pretty simple question, theres got to be a software solution. I've searched high and low on these forums and many people have the same problem but I have yet to discover a resolution. How would one enable the internal (built-in) microphone having a 3.5mm audio adapter routing the sound through a casette adapter? Is feedback going to be an issue?
Thanks,

Big thanks to the community -- as you can tell by my post count, most questions I have are answered here before I ever have to post.
TRAU
Which ROM? Have you tried another Froyo ROM? I know my DEris worked on Kaos just fine.
I'm on kaosfroyo 35-1
Ive seen that problem in the new builds of kaosfroyo. I think its just a problem in kaosfroyo. Check with punk.kaos about it.
Oddly enough, after continued playing around with this ROM....
-- used metamorph to apply black status bar and circle battery with links from kaosfroyo faq on github
-- flashed the htc ringtone package
-- set autokiller to "strict"
-- setcpu to 480-787 default; 192-480 sleep
.... and the problem seems to have gone away. Not sure IF or WHY any of those had an impact. I noticed with the new status bar that all the icons were a little different, and it wasn't long after that I re-tested the microphone while an audio jack was plugged into it because I noticed the icon was just headphones now instead of the headset w/mic icon.
Hmm...that's a bit strange. Try calling someone with ur headphones in and see if it still trys to use it as an input device. Your theme change just might have covered up the problem.

[Q] Microphone Earphone and Speaker dead???

I´ve gotten this very wierd and worrysome problem.
Mic earphone and speaker are all dead and i have no idea if its a hardware failure or software failure.
What happened.
Used Eternity rom b003a just during usual handling got an incoming call and noticed that i had no ringtone answered and couldnt hear them and they couldnt hear me (called on landline afterwards) and havnt been able to get any sound from the device since.

Flashed back to generic 1227-4612 via seus. no luck
Used servicemenu in both eternity and normal rom and got no sound from speaker or earphone.

Have you tried plugging the headphones into your PC...while plugged in play something like an MP3 and then hold the button near the microphone.
Can you hear out both headphones? Is it the headphones and mic themselves or the input on the phone?
Next thing would be to try another pair of regular headphones on the cell phone. Some will work fine, others might sound tinny.

Xperia mini pro (u20i): Can't hear other person

Hi all,
Since yesterday my phone no longer lets me hear the other speaker. They hear me, but that's it.
All other services are working fine (data, SMS, ...)
When I use a headphone it's working fine, same when using the external speaker but the ear piece in the screen produces nothing.
I thought it was due to a software failure , so I reverted back to the original ROM from SE (2.1), but the problem remains.
Oh, it's not the in-call sound, I checked and it is at maximum volume.
Anyone know if there is on-board system diagnostics which can detect hardware failure ?
Anyone else experienced the same problem and found a solution ? Been looking but so far nothing.
Currently back at MiniCM7Pro V21 Rom.
Thanks for any feedback

Microphone is not working when loudspeaker is on

Hi! I have a problem with my m4. The mic seems to turn off when i switch to loudspeaker during a call or if i start a fb messenger call with camera on. However the mic works fine with normal calls, i can record, use google speech etc. Mic test succeeded. Safe mode on and the same thing happens. I have put newest rom for central europe 26.1.A.2.147, wiped all possible data via flashtool and even on clean phone without any apps the problem still exists. I did not change any settings or so. It is just the mic not working when i wany to use loudspeaker ( the onr on the bottom of the phone). I also had issues with lower volume levels than in other m4, but here the rom update might help - i will see in fee days as i did rom update today. Do You have any idea what is wrong? The phone never had contact with water etc.

I have the same Issue, I already made a hard reset but the problem remains. Have you had any progress on this?
Totally nothing. I hope service will fix it.
Same Problem here
Guys did found how to fix this?
Hi, guys.
I had the same issue but it has fixed itself already. Yesterday I wanted to show my friend that on loudspeaker 2nd mic doesn't work but... It worked. I was shocked, I hadn't done anything special. Maybe it was some app issue that is uninstalled now, or that was a virus? I don't know, however it works now.
I m also facing the same issue on my m4 my voice doesnt goes through loudspeaker mode during calls.
I went to the service centr n they r also failed to solv this problem.

Sony microphone doesn't work with loud speaker on
I'm having exactly the same problem with my Sony Xperia M4 Dual Aqua. When the loud speaker (audio output) is on, the microphone doesn't work anymore. I can't be heard by the person on the other end of the phone. Has anyone found a fix to this? The phone has 2 microphones, so maybe there's a conflict with the speaker and microphone or maybe the second microphone doesn't work - anyone got any ideas?
Anyone solved it yet?
I have e2333
I removed memory card and restarted phone, and it worked, i think memory card is interfering with noise cancellation mic, bcoz when you test the mic with audio recorder, you will find noise cancellation mic is low

Thx for sharing,i tried to do this but still like before. I have e2333 too,n it had marshmallow official update last night but didnt solve the problem
it has nothing to do with any software issue or any thing with memory card. all it has to do is with its headphone jack. it permanently recognizes that a headset with mic is connected so it lets the primary mic non functional. and it is probably due to moisture in the motherboard connecting the jack or may b due to numerous fall from heights that lets the jack very lose. try inserting a headphone leave that headphone for a while let ur device get heated up by heavy use or over charging. then remove the jack test the mic again it shall work. if not repeat the procedure again and again till it works. and this method has been tested by me as well as several other users in my proximity. so all the best guys hope it works for ya too. important thing is it might stop working again. so keep repeating

Bluetooth Audio issue

Asked a question a while back about the issue with Bluetooth audio cutting back to the phone speaker, is there a fix out for it yet? If not, do Huawei know about the bug?
Thanks
Original post text below.
I have this little problem with my new Huawei.
(I have a Mate 10 Pro, couldn't find a section for that specific model)
Whenever I connect it to my car or Bluetooth headphones, the audio from my phone will randomly switch from my car speakers or my headphones to the phone speakers. The only way to get it outputting audio through the Bluetooth device again, is by reseting my Bluetooth connection. However, it does this every time and its driving me insane.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Can't help with a solution I'm afraid but I get the same on BLA-L09 C782, firmware 131. It sometimes refuses to connect to anything until I switch into airplane mode and back.
Other times it will connect fine then switch to loudspeaker almost immediately - even though bluetooth still says it's connected (and the play/pause button works on the device). It seems fairly random and reconnecting a few times gets it to work for a while, but it's annoying when it happens while driving.
My guess is that it's an audio routing issue, so most likely a software glitch.
Has anyone switched to a treble rom and still finding the problem? Or has anyone noticed it has gone with a later firmware update?
