What about phone exchange program? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ive been waiting for a cell phone company to institute a phone exchange program for the people who like to change phones to the latest releases. i figure it would include basically a deductible, which the $ amount would determined on your phones current worth or possible a flat amount such as $150 and your vibrant for the vibrant 4g or something to that affect.
anyone heard anything about cellphone companys talking about this at all? id love it because i certainly can't afford a $600 phone every 6 months. And the costs don't seem to really be getting cheaper for the latest phones.

I know you go to tmobile and you could exchange to a newer phone by giving yours and some money too..

I think best buy is starting a buy back program designed for that reason of new tech coming out so quick.

No you can't. There is no exchange option. You can get discounts on a tiered basis. So its a prorated discount depending on how long its been since your last upgrade.

About to add another line. What's the best deal?

I've seen people on here get this phone for as little as 1 cent. I just found it for 99 at radioshack. Anything better than this as I'm about to pull the trigger?

Check out the AT&T site. I just picked up a refurbished unit for a penny and I was upgrading a line on my family plan so if you are adding a line I don't see why you wouldn't also qualify.

I, too, just added a refurb for my better half.
ATT actually DID charge my credit card $0.01.
Thank you!

What do you expect with this device being so new.
If you have something with value to trade along with a little cash, you might be able to get one that cheap, but not for just $200 flat. Might as well be asking for a free one.

Go to wally world and sign a new contract and get it under $100. Thats the only way you gonna see your price range
I saw RAZRs selling up here in Toronto, Canada for ~200, that was a cpl months ago though, they seem to have gone back up in price again for some reason... Either way check kijiji, craigslist, ebay, swappa, good luck

Local Craigslist draws more locals that may be interested. Just meet the buyer at a VZW store to do it.

Craigslist is definitely the way to go. I don't even mess with eBay anymore. When I got rid of my Droid X I posted it on CL and it sold in about 20 minutes.

Here in Albuquerque they're going for 200-275 depending on condition. And considering unlimited data is on its way out you can tack on a bit more. Couldn't tell you how much cause a data plan is a difficult thing to put a value on.

Try http://swappa.com/ and also the Market section of this site.
Don't think you can sell on this site anymore. Seen somebody getting warned about it. Said marketplace was closed. Gonna try swappa.

I also appreciate some feedback for my staff. It's free to use to make sell your nearest client

you can check easy online when you login to your account, you never lose your phone
my contract with telus shows 9 months left and 0$ device balance, so in reality i could upgrade to a new phone at any point without being charged because device balance is 0
Oh so if I pay mine off they won't acclaim an take back the phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
If you pay off the phone, that means the phone is yours. They can't take it back.
Even if you haven't paid off your phone and want to end the contract, they won't take your phone back. They will make you pay the remaining balance on the phone.
Oh alright I understand now. Thanks guys

I'll up this to $55
that's what happens with a 3rd place carrier with a cdma network. tmobile phones don't lose value this quickly even though they are in 4th place because they use GSM.
There's a company out there called Rad Tech that will buy your phone for a good deal. Better than 50 bucks. I had to buy a replacement phone real quick and they were selling the Evo 4g for 128. So I can imagine they will probably sell this phone for 189 or so.
I was more or less curious of what this 600 dollar phone was worth a year and a half later..needless to say i stand here in disgust thinking about the 550 dollar depreciation

I wonder if the OG is worth more . . . .
EDIT: Nope, both the OG and the 3D are worth less than $10 according to WalMart. Here's how much it says the Jewel is worth:

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! Now that you put it that way. This is beyond sad and just goes to show you that the market is, one, saturated with too many phones and two a blatant rip off to charge so much for tech.
I do find this very interesting. Looks like I'm going to continue buying my phone off Ebay or Swappa.
