FWIW I've been on this kernel all day and no wonks as of yet.
I will continue to test and report back.

Yeah, the retry logic in the i2c driver is there because the touchscreen and display wakeup can block the bus. This could be the reason why my N1 (which is AMOLED) never has the problem. Hmmmmmm, maybe a locking issue in LCDC suspend/resume? Maybe you just found the correlation, I hope

huh...so, 5.08 with amoled=no wonk? Maybe I should just try that...
Edit: Flashed 5.08 = uninstalled Dewonkificator...rebooted...made 5 calls...received 10 calls from 3 different numbers...NO wonk! Damn...wish I knew this 2 months ago! hahaha... Anyway...tomorrow is another day...*fingers/toes crossed*
P.S. Maybe a poll should be made...

I'm on 5.12 with an amoled att nexus and I've had one wonk. Do you guys think I should flash 5.08 over... I remember when the original korean came out and it had rumours of faster data transfer and clearer calls. Wouldn't the latest be the greatest... thought someone would educate me on the subject

I have gone back and forth between Korean and non. I have T-Mob version. I would NOT flash. I would fastboot img files. Much much safer wrt to radio upgradeing or down.

+1 on that. The radio is the only thing I won't flash. Fastboot will either write correctly or fail to write, either way it is the safest way. Although, I haven't read of anyone here is a looooong time bricking their device by flashing radios

I have amoled and 5.08 and I have been getting wonks.
Can we get back to the topic?
Is this kernel working or not??
Using 5.08 radio on T-Mobile US with amoled nexus and have never had any wonk with any of the gingerbread builds regardless of kernel. I don't use phone more than a couple of times a day for calls but never once experienced any problem. Thanks though to superatmel for some great investigative work and an awesome rom!
Amoled, 5.08 radio, zero wonk on any kernel, on any cm7 build.

It seems to be working for me since I flashed it yesterday. Up till now no wonk. Total of maybe 15 calls in and out
Also just noticed a new kernel commited this morning for passion.
As of now still no wonks here! Latest radio and HBOOT..
But didn't call that much!
How can i check if i have amoled or not?

I recently received an X10. I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with switching from video to camera mode and vice versa? For me, it's unresponsive and takes forever to switch back and forth between them. Do you just click on the icons? Maybe I'm doing it wrong (though I can't imagine how). If I can't fix minor issues like this, I'm going to pay $105 for a Captivate as a replacement.

That's strange. Do you simply press the video camera and then it changes? When I press it, it's delayed so much that I don't even know if it's the phone or not. Everything on the phone is stock.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll change my phone to either a Captivate or another Xperia. I really don't feel like waiting for 2.1 or the "kits." I know it won't fix a lot of things like multi-touch and 16m colors.

As there are about 6 different versions so that doesn't help, and might have been resolved if you updated from an older version.

It was one of the first things I asked as you'd mentioned replacing it, and as I've already said, that or any other issues you were having might have been resolved with a FW update. Anyway, you've swapped now.
I've been having an issue with USB transfers ever since upgrading to GB, basically the speed has gone down significantly (from 2MB/s to about 200k/s), any idea why? I did the upgrade the Russian way (with the prerelease ROM), but even with the regular V20G update afterwards it remained. Any solutions?
Thanks in advance!
Bump...this really hasn't happened to anyone else?
If this was a major problem, it would already be reported.
Therefore it is safe to assume it is not common. I would therefore allow more than 70 min to get a reply. Contrary to your belief, not everybody is constatly monitoring these forums 24hrs a day.
How about waitng 24hrs before you bump your own post
Try with latest kernel from PaoloM70 (v2). Link in dev section.
It actually is common, flashed the 20G the "Russian way" as well and later on discovered that I had to transfer a 1gb file to my sd for like 2 hours with random speeds aproximately at 120-200kbps instead of being the regular 2 megs/ps
Upgraded to 20C the day it was released and the problem persists, also if using USB mode from CWM it gives regular speeds wor both writing and reading, so it is the firmware on the phone that makes this weird effect in slowing down the sd performance tremendously.
I have the same problem, other users Polish android forum also have this problem.

God, how I hate these useless know-it-all posts by wannabe mods. First of all, if you'd have looked at the timestamps of my posts you'd have seen that about 12 hours had passed, not 70 mins...also, in that time it had already gone to page 2, where I figured it might not be seen by the people in Europe today.
Second, as you can see, it IS a problem that affects other users...and even if didn't, why should I not ask for help and try to slightly improve my chances of getting it?? It's not like I'm spamming the forum asking for help, I searched for this problem before posting and would not have created a thread if there was one about it already!
@doktornotor, thanks for the idea! I was thinking of doing that as a last resort (I prefer to stick to official ROMs), but it might be the only solution if a new update from LG doesn't show up soon...I saw that the Europe one (V20E)was being prepped for release, might try that one first.

I dont recommend it. Phone hangs when the screen is off, you need to reset.
Not here.
@johnflorin: Expecting any kernel fixes whatsoever is pure waste of time. The thing is done and the only delays are caused by operators not having approved it yet. The only differences are in bloatware and branding, sorry.

But some people mentioned that V20C fixed some bugs compared to V20G, no? At least minor things like the icon alignment? You reckon that any V20x ROM will only bring cosmetic changes and not fix kernel-level issues like USB? Still, maybe it's not even a kernel issue, but something higher up the software stack...
my device was replace more than once and each time i got the machine it felt a bit different sometimes it worked better and sometimes not.
I'm not sure if its some kind of placebo effect or not and i wondered.
is there different versions for this phone or something like that?
is there away to verify that the hardware works perfectly?
thanks in advance
ER.
maybe ur eyes plays the fool... maybe they changed the firmware on the device that make it smoother
there are ace 2, but the design n hardware is different
afaik there is only the old/normal and the newer i.
make a benchmark, look up what are the typical stats of your firmware and compare. if there is a significant difference something's wrong; if not then not =)

what are: afaik? old/normal ? newer i?
i cant really use benchmark since roms effects the score too much and its not steady at all even if you run twice ore more in a row.
its not the roms that changed since i moved roms few times.. i just get the feeling that this phone moves slower yet it seems the same. thats why i asked about versions
you should use quadrant standard edition its one of the best benchmark apps.

for i-net, sorry internet abbreviations search in google.
with old i mean the normal S5380 and the newer S5380i is ment with i.
...just make some benchmarks - it must give you a nice bell curve =) and than compare with some stockrom results you find online.
then post it here.

yup, it might also have new radios. i can't wait to take it apart. ^_^
Wow! That took forever for global abilities become official. At least it's a newer version than the current global ruu.
Here's hoping everyone takes the upcoming update and some roms are re-based (if needed). now that this global ota is receiving a full release it should make things a bit easier. I still cant believe in the threads there are people still running gingerbread firmware.
Does that mean we'll be seeing better data support when on other networks?
It'll be better when they drop kernel source for the global update. I can't believe this OTA is coming nearly 10 months after the leak. Completely ridiculous. What incredibly valuable piece of crap did Big Red have to add to the mix to delay this?

Lets Golf 2 was probably the culprit
Got my update about an hour ago. It was over 200 megs.
What all was updated? Still no clear list online anywhere.
Any one know where to manually download the update as I no longer have Verizon service.
Were any of you who got the update running the global leak? I'm running it and not sure if I should expect to receive the OTA.
I have the Global leak and haven't seen the update yet...
My gut tells me I won't, so I will have to wait until it gets release here somewhere.
Lego
I noticed a weird new keyboard installed called "DioPen IME" after I did the update. I think it has handwriting recognition and some Asian language integrated (no offence).
Also just noticed that my screen dims after 15 seconds of not touching it no matter what my display settings are..kind of like during long moments of inactivity during navigation, weird...ok figured it out, it's only when the battery is under 20%.

Yea I just got this new update as well and I'm excited to kno what it's about is it just me or did the key board change a bit Idk but I updated it and I'm getting a lot more signal bars
It looks a little darker if memory serves. I have been using SwiftKey as of late. I appear to have a stronger signal as well here at work. I hope this helps with the people who have been having issues with the crackling and popping when making calls.

Apparently the release was a bit premature and the offcial release date begins today (the week of 10/28). I received it this morning. You should be able to get it now.
This update to version MJ4 primarily fixes the audio issues that some were having with the phone and also a handwriting bug in the Samsung keyboard. Not sure what else it fixes or changes.

Thank you very much.. so Kies 3 is saying im up to date with MI5 but from the phone.. check for updates is now DL something so guessing MJ4.... appreciate it! :good:
I think that this update might address the call quality issue people were having including myself. I just had a phone conversation that didnt make me want to toss the phone. I was plagued with pops and digital sounds when I first got the phone. I called Spring customer service and went in to see a rep and they new of the problem. The in store rep said that a download was coming soon...and here it is!
Be aware it appears mj4 has a new bootloader. Some reports coming in of downgrading flipping knox even on unrooted phones. May not want to downgrade if on mj4
