I can confirm that this method worked to root BB 345.
Edit:
nandroid backup hangs at "Backing up firstboot. . . "
Here is exactly what I did to my phone:
Updating to baseband 345, Android 2.2.2 and then rooting phone.
Starting point - rooted, carrier unlocked Streak with baseband 318 with the performance fix and Streakmod recovery installed
Backup apps/data with whatever means you prefer
power off phone
start streakdroid recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache
- make a full nandroid backup
- mount sd card via usb
-- copy superuser.zip to sd card
-- copy the update.pkg file for 345 to sd card
- unmount sd card
reboot phone into fastboot mode
flash the recovery.img for 345 to the phone
reboot to the stock recovery ( at this point I disconnected the usb cable)
install BB 345 via the stock recovery option 2
Let the phone reboot - this may take a few minutes for first boot, be patient.
- at this point I did the setup, entering my gmail account.
power off
start phone in fastboot mode
flash streakdroid recovery to the phone
reboot into streakdroid recovery (do not let the phone boot normally as the recovery will be overwritten)
install the superuser.zip file using streakdroid recovery
reboot phone
- superuser app is now in app tray
went to market and installed Titanium Backup and Busybox installer
confirmed that device was rooted
powered off and started in recovery mode, stock recovery had replaced streakmod recovery (so you can just go ahead and do what I did next and skip this )
installed root explorer and renamed install-recovery.sh to install-recovery.sh.orig (the file is in /etc)
powered off phone and started in fastboot mode
flashed streakmod recovery
reboot phone
shut down and start in recovery mode - confirmed that streakmod recovery is working
- attempted do a full nandroid backup, hangs up at "Backing up firstboot. . ."
- reboot phone and customize as desired
Now that I have this rooted I will play with it for a few days.

Also works on my 00 bb 345

Totally brilliant,Update My Streak to 2.2.2 345 and Root

cool... now im at froyo 2.2.2 build 345 thx all.

THANK YOU!!!
Great Post!! I was about to cut off a finger to ease the pain SOC was giving me. Worked perfectly!

I am on BB GAUSB1A124500-EU. Will this method work on this BB?

do you mean 345? havnt heard of 245 before

Worked for me on 2.2.2 345 with the exception that I had to do a factory reset after running this as my Streak would not boot in to Froyo. It would get to the Swipe to unlock screen then bounce back to the Dell bootscreen. It did this continuously till I did a factory reset. The root was still in place after this and it has been fine for the last 24 hours since then.

Unrelated question: you're in australia, are the streaks sold there US models?
I see that Telstra 3g is 2100/850

I bought an AT&T Streak off an eBay seller and use in on Telstra Next G (3.5G I.E UMTS 850). Gernerally speaking the ones sold here are the UK version 900/2100, so compatible with Telstra 3G (UMTS 2100) but not Telstra Next G.

Works fine for me on 2.2.2 345

Does this work on 347?
Can someone please add some of the missing details in doing this root? I've rooted my Evo, but these steps seem to be missing details. Like, are some of these commands done on your laptop? Do we have to plug in our Streaks?
Many thanks!

all you do is install a custom recovery and flash it as a zip

I tried installing the custom recovery in this post but I keep getting the Dell logo + /!\ (triangle with !)
UPDATE:
Okay, I got it working on 347. In that screen above, you have to press power button, and that brought up the recovery menu. Please include that in the main instructions.
The whole time I thought it didn't work cuz I kept getting the Dell logo + /!\ (triangle with !)
On that screen press power, if you see recovery, then it worked!
Great post, thanks!

that means it installed properly, that is the cutom rec

Hi All.
I succesfully installed 345 and I love it. Trying to root but I think I am doing smthg wrong. I can not get the option upgrade via zip file.
I do fastboot ok, get the message ... Downloaded successfully.
Then what do I do then? Take the battery out?
Can someone explain me those steps pls?
Thanks

Greetings everyone
After step 4. flash recovery recovery.img, my streak immediately restarts and now i'm stuck at the DELL LOGO like forever... Anyone can help me out?
Thanks!!
My Dell Streak info:
Android version > 2.2
Baseband version > GAUSB1A132013-EU
Kernel version > 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM Version > GAUSB1A132013
Build number > 12903

what did you do exactly? installing a recovery shouldnt ever cause you to get stuck at the dell logo

try using superoneclick, but dont attach your phone until it says waiting for device. (I used version 1.5) Im on Build 15274 Base Band GAUSB1A134700-US android 2.2.2 factory unlocked.
This is the only thing I could get to work. It would not work if the phone was plugged in to the computer before it said waiting on device.

[Q] Dell Streak Official ROM v2.1.1 build 10350 00

Hi,
Notice on WiKi page of Dell Streak that there is no update for ROM version 2.1.1 build 10350 00 (GAUSB1A12100-EU).
Does anyone have it or knows where to dwnl it?
best regards,
JaFre
Do you have 121 or 211?
If you do could you provide a nandroid dump of it?
Hi TheManii,
I have version 2.1.1 build 10350 00 (GAUSB1A12100-EU).
Is this same version i'm looking for.
Cause i want to try 2.2 but want to be sure to be able to go back to 2.1.1 again if i want.
Have you seen v2.1.1 b10350 anywhere?
or
Is there a way to revert from 2.2 to 2.1.1?
"nandroid dump"?!?! What do you mean?
cheers,
JaFre
Yes, that's 211 (are you sure your baseband isnt GAUSB1A121100 ?)
I have only seen it mentioned once on modaco and havnt ever seen it first or secondhand.
If you could post your build number that would be great
to install make a nandroid dump install streakmod and go to advanced -> nandroid -> full backup, there are instructions on install it on it's thread
If you do upgrade off 211 you wont be able to restore to it 100%, you need the original update.pkg to do that (if you have it, i would really appreciate it)
Hi TheManii,
You're right: my Dell Streak is GAUSB1A121100-EU
and came with Android v2.1.1 build 10350, which is the version i'm after (in case i don't like v2.2 i can rollback to original v2.1.1)!
The build number?! Isn't it 10350? (Android v2.1.1 build 10350).
What files do we get from an nandroid dump? An original "update.pkg" file of 2.1.1, like the ones that come from Dell's OTA?
Can i put that file in an MicroSD and flashback from 2.2 to 2.1.1?
Never did nandroid dump. Is it easy and not risky to brick the phone?
cheers,
JaFre
the build number is 10350
a nandroid dump only makes copies of all the files in memory, and saves them to a folder as images, the only files i need are boot.img and system.img (the rest are your personal data, those two are the system files)
if you do a stock/ota update it also changes firmwares (like baseband) those cant be restored without the original update pkgs, if you had one it would be in your sd card, if you dont then you dont
if you upgrade off 211 dont expect for it to work 100% the same if you try restoring back to it
Are those PKGs on the WiKi Rom's area the original update pkgs that come over the air from Dell update server (for example: http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg)?
Tell me and correct me if i'm wrong:
In order to flash Streak:
1 - Rename "Streak_318_12821_00.pkg" to "Update.pkg", copy it to microSD card root.
2 - Start Dell Streak holding the volume up and down buttons down while pressing the power button.
3 - Select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" from recovery menu.
4 - The Streak will reboot and that's it!
cheers,
JaFre
In the meantime, i'll try to nandroid.
Cold you point me with a link to the nandroid procedure?
cheers,
JaFre

All pkgs are straight from dell, but some are not on their OTA server

to do that, grab the fastboot package (either from the android SDK or here) and streakmod
put your phone in fastboot mode
(only needs to be done once on pc)
go to device manager (assumes you're on windows)
find your phone (should have android in it's name)
install the drivers from the fastboot zip
flash streakmod
make a nandroid backup
(this assumes you have basic knowledge of the command line)
Hi TheManii,
Doing nandroid full backup right now with StreakMod Recovery v0.3.2.6-beta.
It gets stuck forever at "Backing up firstboot"!
Help needed!
cheers,
JaFre
I dont know offhand if it's an option, but try a selective backup and back up everything but firstboot
if that doesnt work/isnt available (i dont know if it's an option without looking myself) try installing the different versions of clockwork here
hopefully one of those options will work
Hey TheManii,
All i've got in a dir. inside rom_backup was:
boot.img
cache.img
data.img
recovery.img
system.img
Does it help to complement WiKi's database?
Now i'd like to return to the original stock recovery.img version, instead of StreakMod Recovery.
Could you tell me how to do so?
cheers,
jafre
I'm interested in boot and system.img, i'd like to look at the dump and update the wiki with it
if you didnt mess with your system files all you gotta do is restart to return to stock recovery.
Hey TheManii,
What do you mean by "mess with your system files"?
All i did was like you sugested:
"to do that, grab the fastboot package (either from the android SDK or here) and streakmod
1.put your phone in fastboot mode
2.(only needs to be done once on pc)
1.go to device manager (assumes you're on windows)
2.find your phone (should have android in it's name)
3.install the drivers from the fastboot zip
3.flash streakmod
4.make a nandroid backup"
I had to flash recovery.img with streakmod's version.
Even if i do a restart, streakmod's recovery would still be there, right?
cheers,
jafre
Have you rooted your phone and messed with files with a file manager?
If you havnt just restart and it'll be stock again
"Have you rooted your phone and messed with files with a file manager?"
- No.
"If you havnt just restart and it'll be stock again"
- I'm still having in recovery mode the Advanced menu and inside Nandroid options.
- Isn't that supposed to be a StreakMod Recovery and not a original Dell recovery???
If you've gotten nandroid to back up 211 i'd recommend updating to 318 or 345, 211 is very old and besides it's rarity I wouldnt recommend using it.
This part is up to you though, 211 will work fine with stock recovery or with streakmod
My recovery says v0.3.2.6-beta.
That is StreakMod Recovery!!!
i don't want to upgrade from 2.1.1 just yet, at least before i explore it first.
I just flashed StreakMod Recovery to get you the source of 2.1.1!
I want to put back the original recovery version!
Can you help, or not?
If it doesnt restore on it's own you cant do it manually, but it's not a big deal as stock rec cant do anything but update to a diff stock version
Hey TheManii,
How can i give you the boot.img and system.img from v2.1.1 build 10350 00?
Now i have v2.2.2 build 15380.
Is it possible to return to 2.1.1 the original build i had just with boot.img and system.img?
Could you tell me how?
cheers,
JaFre

[Q] Installing StreakDroid 2.0 w ROM Manager

Hello,
I rooted my phone with z4root, and then installed SuperUser and ROM Manager v4.2.1.0.
I flashed ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 (selecting Dell Streak version). When I try to "reboot into Recovery" (using ROM Manager), the phone will reboot to the startup screen, not to ClockworkMod Recovery screen. If I try to boot to recovery by holding the VOL + and -, it will reboot to the stock recovery screen.
I bought this Streak USED, and I think that the previous owner had flashed a 2.2 version on it before the official upgrade. Is there a way to reset this back to the original settings? I would like to use StreakDroid 2.0.0. Am I missing a critical step in the procedure? Thank you all for your help in advance.
Android Version 2.2
Baseband - GAUSB1A130500-US
Kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM - GAUSB1A130500
Build 10688
Stop using rom manager, qdltool the phone, then try again. Rom manager has caused a lot of problems for a great deal of people I know.

You don't need to go back to the original settings if you plan on using a custom ROM, it's a waste of time....
You should've read through more threads and found out ROM Manager doesn't play well with the 5" Streak. Anyway, you need to look for the thread under Streak Android Development called Streakmod Recovery and download that recovery image...
Secondly you need to look for the "fastboot" folder download and get that on your computer so you can flash the Streakmod recovery image.
Thirdly you need to download the baseband you wanna use.... I think most have gone from the 318 baseband that was engineered to work for StreakDroid 1.9 to the 351 baseband and it's working for StreakDroid 2.0 also. (if you are just getting started I would personally suggest using StreakDroid 1.9 until DJ Steve has worked the kinks out of 2.0)
Aside from all I just told you you should look this link up to make sure you get all the correct drivers installed:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
This is also a very helpful BUT instead of using Clockwork Mod Recovery you will be using StreakMod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872214&highlight=flash+amss
Get this reading done and then start tinkering, it'll save you a lot of head ache.
I used to freak out when my Streak would take longer than normal to boot or all of a sudden reboot or something like that.... Now I've learned enough to where I'm not scared to tinker and do about anything to it because I've learned how to get it back

... If you used flashback ROM then you need to reroot and reinstall the bootloader.
If you go back to the Flashback fourm where you got the flashback you will see it says "
Please Note: THE RECOVERY BOOT PARTITION IS REPLACED BY THE MATCHING VERSION OF THE STOCK RECOVERY PARTITION (V2: March 2011 OTA; V1: July 2010 OTA) in this ROM. This means that you will need to re-root your phone if you use this ROM, should you later decide that you want to restore a different ROM." http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
To fix:
1 Download j-case's recently modded 1-click root app modded by scary alien. You can get this from the following link and scroll to Scenario 5. This will also install amon-ra recovery that Scary alien modified for track-ball optional.... yes.. it's goofy trackball friendly
http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/214240-amon_ra-1-6-2-custom-recovery-trackball-not-required.html
2. Be sure you have the setting checked to allow 3rd party apps to be installed in Settings>applications, copy the 1-click to your sd card and using astro or another file manager install the app and run it.
3. Reboot into your freshly installed recovery and flash your favorite ROM and enjoy having no more 3g data drops.

Ditto on what computerfreek told you.
The graphic with the triangle and the red exclamation point is the splash screen of the HTC stock recovery - it is exactly what you would expect to see after flashing the "FlashBack21" ROM... the purpose of which is to return a phone to a stock condition... just as it plainly states in that ROM's thread.
If you need further convincing, press Vol-up+End after you see that "triangle & red exclamation point" graphic, and you will see the STOCK <2e> recovery menu.
If you want to run the completely stock final HTC release for the Eris, while leaving the custom recovery in place, then flash the March2011_OTA_Reference ROM, i.e.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984274
You would do his after re-rooting your phone (re-installing a custom recovery) as computerfreek describes.

Recovery IMG , Update PKG

HI
I have read many of the Forums and seen Various Videos on how to install new ROMS onto the dell streak. There are dedicated members who contribute to these forums.i THANK THEM FOR THEIR TIME..I have a couple of questions ?
I have updated my streak from PKG 351 to 360 and this was straight forward and I did not need to change the recovery as I am from region 00
1.I followed all instructions and loaded Fastboot with Dell drivers but when I updated the recovery file there was no indication that this was carred out.
2.I know the next step is to update the PKG but I am not sure if the recovery was loaded.I looked at the information on the phone and its still E.U
3.I want to install Latest Olleh rom
Thanks
In recovery mode after you select "update from sd" it will show the version of the recovery.
You may try to flash over existing recovery even if its not 350, it will just fail. But it will no harm to your prone
Hi
I have used this as my guide
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9694 ( I used XP before and could not get it to work.I am on windows 7 now and I got fastboot to work
Recovery IMG and PKG file is on SD card
1.Recovery file is run as and update Pakage ?
1. Verfy version of recovery - boot in recovery mode and choose "software update via update.pkg on sd card" (I've already flashed to 407 olleh, so I cant say what id got 350 recovery. You may ask someone who still got 350 recovery, or wrote it down)
2. If version is correct - flash.
Again - you may flash on any recovery, but success is guarantied only on 350.
Don't forget - YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA EXEPT FILES ON SD CARD AFTER UPGRADE
By the way that guide is exhaustive
Hi
My issue was that I downloaded the IMG but did not run it as update.
I am running on 407.I wll see how this ROM functions and it might be time to add some custom Roms ;-)
It was easier using Windows seven when using Fastboot.
Thanks

Trouble with update.pkg
I've tried 5 times to flash the 407 rom. I flashed the 350 recovery in fastboot. I put the 407 pkg on the root of my streak sd card, renamed it to update.pkg.Then booted into recovery and opted to apply update.pkg from sd. It says the update is applied, but just stays on Dell screen. The only thing I have done different from the guide is I havent been rebooting through fastboot, just pulling battery after recovery is flashed. Any ideas?

reboot via fastboot (fastboot reboot) and go directly into recovery by holding the volume up and volume down buttons.
If that doesn't work flash the 407 recovery instead, reboot using fastboot directly into recovery and install the update.pkg from there.
You mean the 407.pkg? I couldnt find the 407 recovery img
Marvin, thanks, apparently that last step(rebooting via fastboot and going directly to update was critical). I'm actually running Longhorn 2.1 v2 now and am liking it so far. I'll run it for a while.

Trying the 407 recovery now, the 350 didnt work even when rebooting via fastboot. Im sure the proper recovery is being flashed as they ended in 35014 and 40714 just before flashing update.pkg. Still on dell logo, going to wait 5 more minutes. Does my phone being rooted affect anything?
finally got there, probably took 20 attempts. Was going from custom gb rom via streakdroid recovery. flashed streakdroid 1.9.1,then recovery 350 and 407 update.pkg, then factory reset . I do have flashing lights , so going to try reflashing bb
Problems in update
I have downloaded 407 and moved to my sd. I have then reboot to update the pkg. But I might unable to download any recovery both 350 and 407. Says content is not supported by this phone. The I have version 355 version. Pls help
I have got a stock 2.2 ROM, so I decided to update the PKG and recovery using Fastboot. I did the recovery bit fine but it's taking its sweet old time with the update.pkg, is this normal?
Btw, I'm in the UK so I got the latest O2 version 319, build 12792 which matches what it says in the about phone section.
Could be because I'm updating with the same pkg that it's not got anything to update, if that makes sense!?
If so, how do I know I have streakmod installed then? Can I remove the pkg file from the SD Card and try accessing the boot menu then going to option 2?
EDIT- It hasn't updated because when I try and update it again when there is no pkg file on the SD card, I get a blue message from Dell Update Utilty or something.
When I did try to update it, I had left it running for 30 mins but there was simply a black screen. The guide from-
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9694
says it should take around 10-15 minutes though, so is this normal?

[Q] Motorola Milestone 2 CM 10 and CWM from droid2bootstarpper = bootloop

EDIT :
....
[SOLVED]
I flashed SBF and started all over again with stock Gingerbread
....
Hi,
I successfully installed Cyanogenmod 10 on my Motorola Milestone 2 (Gingerbread update 2.3.4)
I installed Gapps for cyanogenmod 10 also worked well. Booted fine...
By accident in droid 2 bootstapper which is old clockworkmod recovery that isn't compatible with cyanogenmod 10 (i know that now), I clicked boot into recovery. I think CWM version is 2.5.0.7. Now phone just boot loops while trying to enter recovery.
So my question is, if there is anyway to change this from my computer by accessing /system/ where bootstrapper ordered system to boot from recovery.
Btw, I made Gingerbread backup with clockworkmod recovery. But I am not sure if I can use it from stock recovery.
I can access stock recovery, and bootloader.
Also I tried to cold boot (Power+Volume down) with no success.
Also is there way to reflesh CWM to newer version ?
Thanks in advance (noob).
Well I guess that I will need to SBF -.-
Damn.
I will be back from school in 6h, I will SBF it then if there is no answer here.
