weird ****.. front ca, wont work. rear works but when switching to front it wont open.. it says please try again but still the same...but when texting and select send a pic and choose front camera it works fine lol...
im taking this **** back to store tomorrow

Two weeks ago I installed the application "camera360" and since I have a black dot appears in the center of the camera.
I have the device for almost a year and the camera worked Perfect.
I tried to replace Rom, kernel, do a full whip and nothing worked ..
Thought it might be mess so I opened the device, cleaned the lens and of course this is not the problem.
I think this is a software problem, because when I put my finger on the camera lens and remove her off quickly - everything goes white and when the photography goes back the black dot appears.
I even tried to replace the "camera.apk" and it did not work.
Anyone else having this problem? Because it drives me crazy!

this look like an hardware issue or some dirt got inside the camera lens.
if you already tried replacing camera.apk and re flashed a ROM, next thing i would try is maybe open the device and try to blow with your mouth near the camera, see if the dirt goes away or moves to a different corner. take a closer look also on the lens itself, see if you can see something in it, use a flashlight.

Thx for your comment but as I said, I already open and clean the lens.
To be sure I have done that again, and the black dot still appears at the same place
I have this too, sadly. In my case, only on the front-facing camera. It sucks, but I don't use the front-facing camera much. From my investigation, it does appear to be a hardware defect on the sensor itself.
My problem is on the back camera and its really sucks.
If I will replace the camera itself, it will work out?

That says simply that camera 360 is the culprit and who knows what will happen if you change the camera .

Edit:Ignore me, I didn't read the OP properly.
My HTC one M8 was bought 2nd hand and the rear camera was not working. i changes the entire flex daughter cable and still was not working. i then replaced the rear the camera and then it started to work. my problem is the phone gives an error saying sometimes saying the duo is blocked remove my hand if its blocking or sometimes when click camera it opens then closes right away.
can someone tell me if the small rear camera is the same as the front camera? also any ideas on repairing my camera issue?

Don't do many selfies but noticed today that I had some abnormalities on my screen. There violet lines on any picture I take, anyone else? Here's a pic with it facing the back of my tablet. Rear camera work's fine. I lost my phone unfortunately and this phone was my replacement through Verizons insurance. I shouldn't have to pay another $200 deductible?
Asurion is sending me another phone, not too impressed with Samsung, my wife's edge had the no auto rotate problem so we exchanged it but her new one has more of a yellow tint to the screen compared to my edge. I wouldn't be happy with it but it's such a long drive and hassle to be that picky she says lol. Hoping for a good one...

Front camera seems broken.
Had phone on monday and front camera was working fine, did a factory reset when i put my new dimcard in and now my phone crashes when i switch to front camera. Gonna try another factory reset tonight.
Ok, done another factory reset but the front camera still does not work. Does anyone else have this issue or do i have a faulty handset?

Hi, yes i downloaded the google camera app from the play store and that did not even give me an option to use a front camera. I also got an app called z device detect which checks your phones sensors and that says there is no secondary camera either. I have opened a ticket with Oneplus now as im confident it is hardware issue. Gutted really as its a beautiful phone! Hope i can get a replacement quickly.
So i got my front camera kind of working. If i pinch the phone and hold it next to the camera sensor it works. So i guess I have a sensor connection issue.

It seems the front camera issue is rather common in OnePlus X. I got mine on Nov 22nd and front camera does not work at all. Images are blurred and confused. No improvement pinching the phone in any specific part. Have you got a solution?

Hello , so i have a pretty long story and i would like you to help.
First off, i went to a beach or whatever its not really important, then i wanted to kinda show off my phone to somebody, so ive put it into water. It was not deep, i didnt even stick the whole phone in it, and the flap was tight closed. I then saw it has kind of some condensation inside the lens of my camera, i was pretty scared, so i checked and made a photo with it which probably lead to the problem. The watersensitive thingy still remains white so the water didnt go trough the flap. But lets get into the problem after about 10 lines of text.
i wanted to dry it out and i were outside so ive put it into a pocket of my coat and the condensation went away after like 4h. But what i noticed, the camera was not working, it just crashed the app. Also the flashlight , it even disappeared from the quick settings menu. I wanted to wait for it to maybe work again and it did. But i couldnt switch to ANY mode besides auto. I took some photos which were decent quality, the the app crashed, and when i reopened it it was glitching out like hell, i reopened it again and it was fine. I wanted to make a photo again but when i shot it, i heard like repeatedly shutter sound from the hardware camera, not from my speakers, and i just quickly turned off the camera. And it went down again, no camera, no flashlight. I waited like 10 days more and today, like 20 mins ago its back, but i still cant switch the mode. It works and all but i dont want to shoot any photos yet. Is there any fix, did anybody experience that?
Edit: i have took a photo and it didnt look terrible but i can only shoot in 5mp max, also the front camera has all these red and pink pixels like a very low end one, even worse, but the post processing makes it look pretty normal
Okay, so some strange things happened, when i wanted to make some photos i first noticed the screen is on full brightness but when i go into the camera its still full but the brightnrss is lower until i turn off the screen, also when i changed to the front camera i noticed its better, but when i switched it back the camera crashed, and the flashlight setting disappeared for a second, i dont want to use the camera and let it chill for a while
now i can shoot photos in 23mpx, but still can't switch to any mode, this is gonna be a fun ride...
