I dont want my contacts automatically backed up onto the gmail.com email account. All I want is to have the ability to backup my contacts on my sim card only. Anyone know how i can remove or turn off the gmail sync so i can then log onto gmail.com and physically remove what was auto saved online?

How do I remove my google account without resetting phone?

Yes I can't remove account and I don't wanna wipe everything again.
Is there a solution

Go to settings, Accounts and Sync, tap your email, tap remove account.
^ that won't work if you only have 1 google account.
Add another one then try to remove the original one. that MIGHT work, but it has a big chance that it won't also.
epic thread ID
I am having the same issue. I created another account so I could remove another one and i keep getting the message that some applications use this account. Need to go to settings, privacy, and reset phone. Doesn't work. Trying to remove the 300 contacts that are this phone from when i traded my hd7 windows phone for this hd2 with android. this had to go to Q&A, but anyways, just install them on sim card and they will sync everytime you reflash the phone or do something else or use titanium backup or any other 3rd party application.
I have all my contacts stored in my gmailaccount and let it sync after I put a new ROM on my phone.
Before I went to the trouble of storing all my contacts in my gmailaccount, I used the backup to .vcf function in Go Contacts app.
+1
I do same as ldeleeuw, just synch it with your google account
Regards
Awesome guys.
How do I do that?!
And will my calendar be synced as well?

Yes it will!!
I will recommnend Google sync.. it also helped me many times when I am running out of battery.
Also editing is also powerful in Gmail acct.
Another tool I found was, fjsoft's mobile phone explorer. It will give you many options to customize backup. Google fjsoft and dload. "Mobile Phone Explorer" is free.

On my PC, I imported a vcf-file into my gmailaccount, which I created with GO Contacts. It's is a single vcf-file with mutiple contacts, so importing it is very easy.
To sync it with your phone, you'll need to setup syncronisation somewhere in settings
What about going into settings and pressing the sync button to sync with my gmail account ?

sounds like you are already synced, have to checked your contacts page in gmail on a pc?
also you can got Phone book - menu - more - Backup contacts - memory card
I would go for MyBackup as i dont sync often.

I'm using MyPhoneExplorer and I think it is the best back up way. You can sync, archive, export, import your contacts, messages and calendar.
It can save your contacts with pictures. See this page:

just use old backuprestore.apk.....it is working like charm...see my post..

Backup & Restore from v2.1 can be installed on v2.3.

Second mail on android device

Hi there, my question is - how to check e-mail messages from another Gmail account, but not the main account that is logged in my device? Any app or somethig? I just want to check e-mails (and docs maybe) but I dont want to sync that acc with my phone.

Use any browser! Go to the website. Simple!
life!
You can add the other Gmail account in Account & Sync settings and then choose to sync only mail.
Or, like Lifehacker7 said, use a browser.

[Q] Contact Sync and Google Now

I have two different gmail accounts. One of them (not my main one) syncs contacts fine by the main account doesn't sync them at all. I keep getting an error, and have had the error since I bought the phone. Anyone know whats up?
Also, I can add any team I want to google now except the Lakers. Everytime I add them, they show up in the list of teams, then I close the page, come back to it, and the team is gone. Anyone know why?
Thanks!
Couldn't say I've experienced this. As far as the Google account that won't sync, have you changed the password and forget to update it on ur phone?
As far as Google now, try clearing cache and date. Start from scratch and see if that helps. Sorry I don't have any solution that would just solve ur problems. Best thing till someone comes out with a sure solution is trouble shoot. Let us know what happens!

Also, do u use facebook and sync ur contacts? I've heard that can be causing issues. I recommend first removing facebook, the export ur contacts to external storage, going into it apps and clearing data under contact storage then importing all ur contacts. I highly recommend removing facebook before anything else. If its not facebook but u have other applications that sync contacts, uncheck contact sync and proceed with clearing contact storage, then import contacts and resync. Try that out and let us know

I'm not using facebook or any other apps that sync contacts.
The google now thing worked perfectly! Thanks.

Ok. Then skip those steps about other apps that sync and try the export and clearing data.

I'm afraid of doing this because I have contacts in my phone that are new that aren't synced yet. Will this get rid of them?
That's why u export ur contacts first
Go into ur contact list and tap menu. Then export, when it asks u where, send it to sd card/external memory. Unsync ur Google accounts from contacts so it doesn't effect it and then clear it. You'll have a back up on ur other Google account and have a vcf file in ur device storage

i just did that and its still not syncing the contacts. Similarly, its not syncing the internet.

[Q] Delete all synced e-mail contacts (Gmail, Yahoo, FB..) from Android..?

Hello,
How to FULLY delete (only from Mobile) those 1000s of email contacts which were synced earlier in my S2 (JB 4.1.2 Neatrom) from Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.
I have totally disabled automatic 'Sync' on all accounts added, and I only need to manually sync for new emails only. I can manage to 'display' contacts with a number only, but when I run a 'search' it brings up all email contacts again ffrom the db.
I simply don't want any email contacts but phone contacts in my phone.
Tried couple of tools which helped purge duplicates, but not email contacts itself.

Is it a option to delete your account and add them again but only select "Sync Email"?
Clear data for your contacts app and the contacts storage from Application Manager.

What'll happen if I '' Clear data for your contacts app and the contacts storage from Application Manager'' ? Will it purge my original phone/SIM contacts anyway???

Anything that is stored on your phones contact database will go, and Sim contacts which are stored on the sim card you will have to manually clean. Anything and everything else should go.

Dude I am sorry, but I don't think you've got my question properly. I don't want everything and anything to go, only 'e-mail' contacts to be booted out of my Mobile....any feeds?

Couldn't you just backup whatever you need using some app and restore back into a cleaned database, I have done it before myself.

Allright guys, I fixed my problem by myself....lots of thanks to all tried to help
Wondershare Mobilego for PC was the key tool to manage Android contacts from PC, where I had option to pick e-email contacts and purge them!

Yes I could, but you should really consider this 'whatever I need take a backup and restore only what I need', because excluding 3000+ email contacts from the required 500 contacts in a mixed contacts pool is HARD JOB...I had'nt find any tool to isolate them, all threads recommend 'SELECT' only what u need and export....do you find it easy to select one after one among the junk/needed contacts...NOooooooooo :cyclops:
Anyway I fixed it :good:
