aGPS not working on any 2.2.1 ROM - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I've tried almost all 2.2.1 ROMs now, frost, darky, atriarc, loki yet on none of these ROMs could I get the aGPS to work. It works flawlessly on 2.2 ROMs otherwise... What could be wrong?
I've tried faster fix, gingerbread.zip and sgps.zip from the forums, etc. already..
Sent from Bionix on Vibrant

then go back to 2.2... i don't see much change between 2.2 and 2.2.1 since we had voodoo on 2.2
but w/e

My gps was perfect when I was on Frost, after flashing sgps. Have you tried the hardware fix?

I have Simply Honey 2.5 with GPS fix plus there is another forum here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970
This one has made my GPS best its ever been and probably best it will ever be considering it is Samsung..

Well, I did that immediately when I noticed that the 2.2.1 ROM isn't locking on... I had just replaced back the FFC mod camera and then I was planning to run 2.2.1 so that I can benefit from its camera firmware. So I thought maybe I screwed up the contact.
But that didn't happen. Once i flashed 2.2 back, i got a GPS lock in 15-17 seconds on every cold start.
Installed the sGPS.zip and Gingerbread.zip too, alternatively, and together, also done an ODIN and then fresh install, but none of it helps... Tried fasterfix too for India...
Anyone else facing this problem ???

GPS Question

So I've got a Vibrant running Stock 2.1 with the JI6 OTA update. For some reason, like most others, the gps has never worked nor is it working now. I've done the quick fix for stock users by setting my phone to MS based, switched it to supl.google.com with 7276 for the port and can now see about 9-10 gps's at any given time, (and to add the compass works amazingly) the problem is that even though I see these satellites I never get an official lock. I've done gps test and even the performance test through *#3214789650# and I cannot get an official lock. I've since switched to and from these settings and the original settings with no change, and when it is set on the original settings I only see 1-4 satellites and never get a lock. Anyone have any suggestions or am I just boned till 2.2 froyo and pray that when that's officially released the gps will officially be fixed? Thanks if you can help ^_^
I recently installed the latest bionix ROM and the GPS was pretty much fixed. Locked on in seconds and was not as wonky as it was before.
I suggest you give it a try.

There seems to be a minority, myself included, for which the JI6 hasn't improved GPS performance. I've tried falling back to JFD and upgrading to the stock JI6, as well as other ROMs, including Bionix 1.9.1. No joy.

GPS was solid but now? )-:

So a little about my phone. I am running a custom ROM Fusion 1.1 with a custom Kernel from Team Whiskey Core V3 2.1 also have OCLF. My phone right after flashing the new ROM seemed to lock on quickly to several Sats 5 plus every time. But for no reason and with no adjustments to the default settings I now have a very hard time locking on to any Sats. Takes 10 plus minutes and only can get a few to lock.
So the only things I have changed on my phone recently is trying a few different Kernels. Would this even effect the GPS sat locks at all? I would think not but??
Anyone have anything new that I have yet to read about that they have tried that seems to make the GPS better?
My phone's GPS might just suck who knows.
Thanks in advance!

Yea I did.. Just went outside and switched to Cold then delete GPS data ran fix for 10 minutes and got a lock on 4 sats. Switched back to Hot and didn't seem to help much.
You did the reboots and everything?
Odd man, if that didn't work I am at a loss. Hopefully others can chime in for you.
I would think the ROM is what affects GPS signal the most. I was running Bionix 1.9 with KK kernel and the GPS was money. Now running Obsidian V1 (didn't switch to V2 because I read people were having GPS issues on it), and GPS still works great. In fact, when using Car Home, it shows the exact street address I am at.

from what i understand, yes a different kernel can affect gps because the kernel contains the drivers. it is my understanding that this is why the 2.2 roms have working gps now: an 'official' kernel was leaked and the gps drivers were pulled from it. however the rom will also affect gps. for example, i was running bionix 1.9.1 and gps was great, flashed bionix final and gps went to ****, flashed fusion 1.2 and gps was working again.

Vibrant 2.3.1.3 Issue

Recently, I had the 2.2 version of the firmware, then i started getting lost and dropped calls, after that my service went completely shot, no more service in general, now i went on and checked and searched for the new firmware, which is the 2.3.1.3.
Still getting no service. I jumped on the network and double checked the flights and auto checked the data settings, it jumps in and out of net work and loss of network.
It was working perfectly till about 2 weeks ago. any clues on what i should do or should i just throw it back into factory settings and try the ginger bread settings?
Where exactly did you get that supposed 2.3.1.3 update?
here on the site
We've a 2.3.1.3 here? Last I've heard CM7 and MIUI were considered 2.3.3.
Anyway post your problem on the thread you got your rom from, chances are you'll get a better help and recognition there.
ive never seen it either

Axura is based of Froyo, not Gingerbread... O_O
I'm pretty sure the '2.3.1.3' is just the version of the ROM...
MegaFail.....gingerbread 2.3.1.3. LOL!
from my Vibrant running Bionix-v 1.3.1 and my Unbridled Carnage theme.
i had froyo, i just forgot to mention it up on the top. I went from froyo 2.2 to froyo 2.3.1.3 but i lost calls about a month ago. I thought it was the firmware, but it didnt seem to change once i updated it... I never had ginger bread on my phone but i'm asking if i should throw it back to factory standards and update it to gingerbread
There isn't a froyo 2.3.1.3 either. Like the other guy said, that was just the version of axura you had.
And if you're losing calls, try out a different modem. I suggest kb5. Really fast data and good voice
from my Vibrant running Bionix-v 1.3.1 and my Unbridled Carnage theme.
good to know then, i'll give it a try, thanks
Froyo 2.3.1.3? Ha. Did you ever try rebooting?

[Q] GPS Broken Broken

Hello well not sure but I think my GPS is "broken broken" like maybe something hardware related but just wanna to check with you guys first instead of doing anything drastic.
I think I first noticed when i was on a build of trigger(cm based) that the GPS kept searching for location and unscessfully tried the CM7 GPS script. I then just decided to Odin back to stock and getting the same results GPS wise. I also tried Nandroiding back to a ROM that knew GPS worked when i use to use it(toxic w7 clone) but still no luck. Also worth noting that while on Stock Odin I tried some different Market based GPS fixes(GPS Restore GPS Aids).
Any help would be appreicated thx
some people have working gps, some dont. mine kind of works but it takes forever to lock.

Did your GPS work in the past?
I used a 2.2 build of Trigger a little bit back, and it did the same thing to my phone. I have a "fixed" hardware GPS antenna (since I did the FFC mod, fixing the GPS at the same time was a piece of cake), so when I suddenly couldn't get any GPS signal, I knew something was most definitely up. I tried the sgps "fixes" to no avail.
Eventually I flashed CM7 (since gps wasn't working either way, at that point), then Odin'd to stock, then flashed Bionix 1.3.1, and suddenly at some point it fixed itself. Now my GPS is back to working on CM7, as well as 2.2 roms.
So, if your GPS used to work fine, there was something software-wise which screwed it up.
Do yourself a favor and call TMobile. Tell them that your GPS doesn't work and you'd like a replacement. Do it three times and get a completely different phone for free.
The Vibrant is a POS at best.

Yeah this what I meant by drastic but probably my only real solution, wonder how that works though im pretty sure I'm paying for some replacement/warranty but that's only if they find out it is broken or defective right?
So glad i bought a Vibrant for my birthday as my 1st smartphone
Well I think I made some progress here, I Odin back to Eclair and to Bionix. GPS still wasn't working but GPS Test shows that there are some Satellites "in view" but not "in use" weird...

GPS Problems in either Euphoria and Passion on 2 vibrants

I know there's plenty of GPS problems with this phone, but after reading that GPS works in both the roms i've tried, i think im doing something wrong. This is where i'm at:
After using both of these roms on 2 different vibrants, i can't figure out for the life of me why i cant get the GPS to do anything at all on these roms.
I've used ODIN to go back to stock, and then tried flashing the roms but with no luck.
I dont have any clue how to use Angry GPS either, so i haven't messed with that at all. If i need to change some settings within the app, please enlighten me.
Thanks for anyone who helps me with this problem. The only Rom i know of that i have 100% working GPS is with Team Whiskey's Bionix-V 1.3.1.
Anyone? I dont want to be pushy, i just wanna figure out the problem.
And on a side note, i know i posted in the wrong section.
GPS works but it is also a work in progress as no one knows what is really going on with GPS in the Vibrant. The ROM seems to have little effect on weather the GPS works but the "kernel" that underlies it is where the effort is being placed for a fix. While the GPS works on all the kernels it eventually stops working after some time. It is believed to be an issue with how Android starts and stops different services to save power.
Most users have reported great GPS using Kiss 2.2 kernel in combination with either of the Team-Passion Roms (Passion, Euphoria). The most recent kernel is Kiss 8.2. Get it here:http://team-passion.com/index.php/downloads/galaxy-vibrant
For info on each kernel see here: http://team-passion.com/index.php/forum/2-about-team-passion/283-test-kernels
Keep in mind that the developers in my opinion have been working on these ROMS and Kernels like it was their full time job. And they are determined to make GPS work consistently so give them some encouragement to hopefully keep them motivated as they are likely our only hope.
Passion is a faster more responsive but Euphoria has more customizations baked in. The kernels are interchangeable between these ROMs but they have different performance characteristics.
GPS working after deep sleep on Euphoria
After going through 10 ROMs and 20 Kernals I think I may have a semi working GPS. Running Euphoria RC2.1 with stock KB5 modem and gingerbread bootloaders. Installed these gps fixes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550327
Ran ultimate cleaning script then flashed Glitch then the subzero kernel in the same recovery session
CM9-vibrantmtd-Glitch-V14-B6.zip
cwm-subZero-vibrant-1.1VC_build61-CFS_BLN.zip
Lock immediately after boot with angry gps and phone has deep slept multiple times and gps picks up after granted after 50 seconds
I really appreciate the help guys, the Kiss 8.2 kernel fixed the problem in the Euphoria 2.1 ROM. I get locks within 10 seconds, and also better battery life.
So now as far as im concerned, this is the best combo there is.

8.2 did the trick for me. Locked up in under 20 seconds, and I'm inside my house (by a window) Don't know about deep sleep recovery, but I'll let you know.
You really need to change to Chimera v2.2
