Hi Im new to the forums and have been loving them so far. Im a noob when it comes to this type of thing so im sort of lost.I have been attempting to install cm7 on my Optimus v recently and have been having trouble. I downloaded rom manager to my phone and have already rooted it. When I open Rom manager and attempt to flash clockworkMod Recovery It gives me a list of phone models to choose from but none of the are the optimus v. How do i go about installing it. Thank you for your time and i appreciate any help
Clockwork Recovery doesn't work with ROM Manager on the Optimus One. There are reports that Clockwork Reccovery does work on this phone (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942248) but it doesn't interface with ROM Manager. If you would like to flash custom ROMs, then you will need to put the zip file on your SD card, boot into the custom recovery (either Amon_RA or Clockwork), then flash the ROM from there.

Hey guys,
I am doing this rom flash for a mate of mine.
I am trying to flash the tastyginger rom, but i am having some real difficulties while flashing the rom.
He has a dutch htc hero from hi. He has the latest rom according to the update utility thingy. it is the 2.1-update1 version. i believe i've read something about nand locks, and i think his phone has exactly that. the first step to flash a new rom is to root the phone. Rooting the phone works, gives no errors.
But when i try to flash the recovery image, it says it cant find the flash_image file.
it is should be located in the system folder on the phone but it isn't. i've tried to install it with android sdk, but the thing just is really acting weird. htc sync isn't working with the phone. it says there isn't a phone in the usb.
Now to make it clear, can somebody give me a clear tutorial on how to flash the thing correctly? I've done this before on my hd2. i've flashed the cyanogen 2.6 rom to my phone.
have you tried rom manager to flash rom its the easiest way i know. the way i rooted was with universal androot apk then installed rom manager clicked on flash clockworkmod recovery then went to install rom from sd card in rom manager scrolled down to the rom i wanted to flash choice it and pressed ok i then select backup existing rom and wipe data and cache and pressed ok then it will ask reboot and install and press ok and let it do its thing then wait untill it reboots and it should of installed rom which you wait to boot should have a custom splash screen that comes up and wait until your prompted to input details and such. hope this helps.
hey, thanks for the advice.
i let him try this method, but when he chose the htc hero gsm to install the cwm, the app refused to install it and gave this error message:An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands.
I forget to mention that the method you posted, that we already tried it.
But thanks for the effort!
pretty certain this is the tut. i used, i also had to use the gold card method -.-;

rom manager has been down lately everyone has had trouble flashing clockwork recovery, but ra recovery second from bottom is a secondary choice however other features of rom manager might not work if you use this you will have to boot into recovery manually.you also need super user to use this as well.

Use this apk, i have always used this method!
Download clockwork or ra recovery rename it to recovery.img and copy to sdcard
Backup recovery with flashrec
then type sdcard/recovery.img
flash recovery and done!
I've done the recovery succesfully at the guys phone. It works bloody well. Thanks dudes! You can lock it up if you want to.

Hey guys,
I followed this post to install the ClockworkMod Recovery on my O1. I after installed mik_os's rom from here.
Everything works just fine, however I have some doubts:
1. When I open Rom Manager from the menu, it tells me that CloclworkMod Recovery is NOT installed! Why? I can start the recovery by pressing home+power+vol_down but I can't use the Rom Manager. Is this because there is no official port of Rom Manager for O1?
2. Is there something I can do make the Rom Manager work as for my N1?
Thank you very much for your kind attention
Regards
ilcontegis
anyone?
I think that the problem is precisely because ROM Manager hasn't been ported over to the Optimus One (yet). The port of Clockwork recovery is still fairly recent and my guess is that ROM manager just isn't set up to recognize the O1 version of clockwork recovery.

I see, thank you.
This means that with time there is a good possibiliy that it will be ported. Nice

You don't flash Cyanogen themes. A Cyanogen theme is an .apk file; you install it normally and apply it from Theme Chooser.
I keep thinking for sure I've got this fixed and each time so far I've been wrong. I'm on the tmobile vibrant. I can odin no problem and I'm currently 2.1 stock rooted. I want to go to cm7. I can't get to cwr though. I have tried flashing rom managers samsung galaxys vibrant recovey, both 2.x and 3.x vibrant (mtd) recovery through rom manager, and even the zip package in the noob root sticky. every time it goes to stock recovery and if I have the cm7 file named update.zip when I hit reinstall packages to get to cwr recovery it attempts to install the package and bootloops me. If I don't have anything labeled update.zip it will say file not found and I can't go any further. If I try to instal from rom manager it will just reboot normally without installing anything. Please help I can't live with this phone stock after I've seen the other side lol

I had a Optimus One earlier and the way it worked there was flash CWM through ROM manager and no matter what kernel you use CWM would stick.
I wanted to know why in SGSII kernel comes with CWM inside it and does not work
standalone like it works in many other devices.I tried searching for answers but could not.
Thanks.
You can't flash cwm through rom manager because the stock kernel won't allow non-signed zip's, so signature verification has to be disabled in the kernel, i guess the dev's then figure what the hell lets throw cwm into the kernel while we're making a kernel.
Hope you can help me. I rooted my friends phone via odin. When i was about to flash a rom via cwm recovery mode - its opening to a "manual mode", im unable to flash the rom. Hope you can help me with this. Thank You
which rom are you trying to flash via cwm?
did you copy the rom to your internal sd card so that cwm can see it.
