Bluetooth headset for G Tab - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

G Tablet running VEGAn-TAB.
I need headset with microphone.
I borrowed a few headsets to test them out.
One USB headset worked but it was inconvenient since it was wired.
One Bluetooth headset worked only with the speakers, the microphone just would not work on the G Tab (it worked on the desktop).
Can you recommend a Bluetooth headset that just works with the setup?

I tried several SONY and Motorola BT headsets and all were working fine except when you disconnect BT you have to reboot to get audio routed back to speakers.
(No other remedy worked)

Did the microphone work in all these cases?
Or did you have to do something special to get it to work?

Please provide a few more details

Which Android release, which ROM (Vegan?), which application (sipDroid, sound recorder, etc), and did headset microphone work (as opposed to built-in mike)?
Appreciate your feedback.

Hi,
I have the same issue with the original ROM (3588). It looks like original firmware does not support Bluetooth headsets with microphone it just support Bluetooth headphones without microphone. Can some one help with it? Or any other custom ROM supports Bluetooth microphone?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Bluetooth Earpiece

I got in on the Samsung WEP470 deal at NewEgg to use with my G Tab. But in testing it, I've noticed that it will pair, no worries, but it won't connect.
My goal is to use it to replace the rubbish internal mic for skype calls when my daughter is traveling.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a BT earpiece that does connect and can work for calling?
Thanks!

I have Motorola S7HD stereo bluetooth headset and it pairs and works great with my G Tab running latest TnT Lite. I use them to listen to pandora, and watch tv/movies from my media server using plugplayer. I haven't tested yet for video conferencing, but it should work for that too. I'm too lazy to convert my Skype friends to oovoo or whatever it is, I'm hoping Skype will just finally add video to Android Skype soon.
Good luck.

Only A2DP Bluetooth
I have a Plantronics Blackbeat 903 which also works perfect for listening (through A2DP), but that's all I've been able to achieve. I mean, I can not make it work as audio input, just output. I guess g tab doesn't have the hands-free (HFP), or headset (HSP) Bluetooth profiles required to do that. So, even though I have Skype installed and I can make calls and listen via bluetooth, the built-in mic is still being used during the call instead of the Bluetooth headeset mic.
I've been googling around and still have found nothing about whether that functionality can be enabled. If you guys find something, let me know.
Anyone have BT headset/microphone combo that works?

I have a Rocketfish RF-MAB2 stereo headset that works for audio output but not microphone input (works ok on my blackberry tour). Just tried Sipdroid and while I could hear fine, audio was definitely going through the microphone on the G-Tablet ("sounds like you are under-water").
Bummer. I would like to be able to hear and talk through this set of headphone/microphone. My Emerson EM227 will pair but not connect. Is this an issue where the proper bluetooth stack isn't present?

Bluetooth Headsets not working?

I've tried connecting my Plantronics Callisto Pro to my G Tab to use with sipdroid. It pairs but doesn't connects.
I also have a pair of Insignia Bluetooth Headphones that I've got connected but only using a2dp.
Also have bluetooth gps that doesn't connect but does pair. using googoo bluetooth gps app i'm able to use it.
I'm using VEGAn 5.1.
Is anyone else having these kinds of issues?
Mine works perfectly (TNT Lite). I have a set of Nokia BH-905 BT headphones (which is AWESOME by the way) and listen to both music and podcasts over mine without any trouble. I have to say though, I think the sound quality from my Galaxy S is better than from the Gtab.

It appears that several brands of headphones will work. But the issue is using it for both output AND input. I have yet to read anyone getting the input to work. Or, for that matter, getting anything to work that even ALLOWS input.
The quest continues!
im using a sony ps3 headset (the fat one, not the new slim) and i can get it to pair but not connect either
i would love to get this fixed as i use BT for all my music/audiobooks

Skype + bluetooth headset?

My Jabra Halo headset used to work flawlessly with firmwares up to KF1... Same with the wired headset and Skype.
It hasn't been working since, only the headset speakers work fine, however the microphone on the headset does not work anymore.
Can you guys check if you also have this problem or is there anyone, that successfully uses some Bluetooth headset with Skype on i9100?

[Q] OmniRom D2ATT and Pioneer Car Stereo

Hi all. First post here. I have an AT&T GS3 running HOMEMADE OmniRom v.20140401 and am having issues with my newly installed Pioneer MVH-X560BT car stereo. The stereo has Bluetooth capabilities for streaming music and taking calls and includes a microphone. Streaming music and calls from the phone works perfectly fine, but the microphone doesn't pick up a word I say. I tried another mic with the unit (which didn't work) and contacted their customer support. They suggested it could be an issue with how the device is interacting with the radio rather than the mic or mic input jack not working. I realized I hadn't used any Bluetooth devices since installing OmniRom, so I tried using a headset this morning. The mic on the bluetooth headset worked fine. The only thing I haven't done is try a different device with the stereo, which I plan on trying later today or tomorrow. Does anybody have any other suggestions on how I can get this to work?

Bluetooth phone audio not working

I've bought a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones with mic. I've connected them successfully and both options for phone audio and media are enabled. I can listen to media, music and audio from apps. The problem is when i place a call. Although on the call screen at the bottom left the bluetooth icon is selected the call's audio is redirected to the phone's earpiece not to the bluetooth. The same headphones work great with another phone i checked. I have tried everything from dev, stable roms to aosp rom.The problem persists on call. I've tried mono bluetooth and calling works great. I've tried the sound about app and all the same.I've tried google dialer but also the same problem. So i am left with a bluetooth headset that i can only listen to music and not place a call.Any help or idea?
I am also facing the same problem. The Bluetooth connection displays - "Connected (no phone)". The Bluetooth headset works fine for phone media but doesn't work for calls. Anyone is able to use a Bluetooth device with Redmi NOte4 please?
I've been using Bluetooth on RN4 on nougat. However, I faced the issue you're describing only on Oreo ROMS.

this is a bug prevalent in all oreo roms, however some say that in omni rom, bluetooth call audio works, so maybe you can try that out

It works in Atomic OS Plasma (Oreo).
BTW, there is a list of Oreo ROMs here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help/extensive-list-oreo-roms-mido-t3741277
Yes exact same problem cannot enjoy call via bluetooth headset. I think it's manufacturer defect in the phone. Cheap Bluetooth hardware Xiaomi placed I guess
