First off let me say if this is adressed in another thread or video, im sorry!
But my question is this: How does titanium backup work?
For example, if I run a full system recovery with TB and then flash the sbf file and then load gingerblur, can I then recover all of the settings and apps from titanium backup? If so, how might one go about doing that?
Another example would be, if I return my atrix for a new atrix for whatever reason, could I recover everything after that?
Thanks in advance for all your help guys!

When you start tibu press menu then batch, then select "backup all user apps" (I think its first). Let it run. Then you can run SBC and Ginger blur then install tibu from the market, open it press menu, batch, then go about 1/2 down to "restore missing apps with data" and start it and when its done you have all apps with settings back.
A also highly recommend buying tibu premium as it makes most of this automated.

Ok thanks for the reply! So titanium backup creates a recovery file on the phone that wont be erased and ill always be able to access it?
Also does it work if I get a new phone?

Yes, that would be my question as that is where I am.
I have the directory on my sdcard-ext; I've copied it to the empty directory of the same name on the sdcard yet I can't seem to get at any of my old backups.
What did I miss in the process? Is there a way to make it LOOK at this saved data?
Well I don't know about not being erased; the program backs up the application and all of its data into a folder. You can do single applications or all of them.
If you are say, resetting the phone or doing a factory reset, this is essential if you want all of your applications back the way you had them.
I'm using two phones and when I got my second, I just installed TB on it and backed up the apps that I wanted transfered wwith data (mostly games and things that don't have cloud data) and copied them to the new phone to be restored.
I just bought the pro version that gives access to dropbox and other things but I haven't used any of the features yet.

I believe TiBu's default location is in /sdcard/titaniumbackup (From root location). Now once you back up your apps all that information is stored in that "Titaniumbackup" folder. Now what you can do is copy that folder and where, even your computer and it's saved. You can even load that folder on a different phone and run TiBu on the phone and install the apps on that phone. Usually when you flash roms or even the SBF file it wont erase the internal SD card, at least I've never had an issue with my internal SD being erased in the last 2 years. Just take your titaniumbackup folder and put it on to you internal SD card and TiBu should recognize it no problem.
As far as how it saves it, I think it saves the .apk and it also saves another with the app settings.
Hope this helps clear some stuff up.
Ok cool, thank you very much for the help!

I currently have 4.1.57 but want to reflash back to 4.1.26 so that I can get root again. Before doing this, I'd like to backup my apps and data so that I don't lose some of my games, etc.
Are there any apps that will backup the data and applications without root? Normally I'd use Titanium Backup but this requires root so it won't work.
+1 I would like to do exactly the same thing! I have searched and tried but I can not find a process or app to backup "app+data" (game progress, app settings, text messages). I also have titanium backup pro but it obviously doesn't work without root. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

try mybackup from the market. I don't think it can grab app data or system data, but could atleast backup call log, sms, contacts, ect.
Unfortunately app data is what I need to backup. I've spent hours playing Game Dev Story and don't want to lose my game progress.
I don't really care as much about call log, sms's, etc.
Maybe there's a way to backup manually? Find the save files, put in SD card, flash SBF, move files back?

Does any one know this answer?

yes
Yes, you can. But it must be contained in a subfolder of nandroid, named HTXXXXXXXX
which is exclusive to your particular phone.
You can discover the name of that subfolder by doing a fake nandroid backup
of the phone you wish to restore to.
Then visualize the sdcard in windows explorer with phone "on" and remove the fake nandroid
backup you just made, replacing it with the preferred backup. Or do this connected to sdcard in recovery.
Either way, the good restore file must be on sdcard in nandroid/HTxxxxxx of new phone.
Then do a 'restore' in recovery and the old operating system is now on a second phone.
Go to Play Store and get updates and you're good to go.
and then, and then
Since it's your friend's setup, you'll need to get into Google Play Store
with your own account, and change other things to your name as well.
It will know all about your VZN account when you put in the sim.
It would be much simpler to flash the Rom and set it up yourself. The nandroid contains all the personnel info he has used on his phone before the nandroid. He (your friend) could fresh install the Rom then before setting anything up he doesn't want you to know do a nandroid.

If your phone is rooted, boot into CWRecovery & do a nandroid backup, and make a note of the CWM version you're making the backup with; maybe append this to the name of the folder you're keeping the backup in (this is what I do). Keep a copy of your backups on your phone's internal SD card (if you have one) and/or your PC. When you want to restore a particular backup, if the backup in question is on your PC, transfer it to your internal/external SD card on your phone. Boot into CWRecovery again & restore the backup. As long as the version of CWM you're using at the time of restoring the backup is somewhat recent, you should be good to go as is. If not, you may have to downgrade to a kernel with a version of CWM closer to the version you made the backup with first.
And if your phone isn't rooted, why are you here ?
Haha im triing to root it

Quick question : if its not rooted can i just copy past all the phones data on my computer then putting it back in the phone?
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda premium
You can probably use an app like MyBackupPro (there are probably other apps which can backup a non-rooted phone as well), but I have no experience with those so I can't advise re: their use.
As well as doing regular nandroid backups in CWM, backing up settings/apps regularly with TiPro (look for it on Google Play) is a good idea as well.
And maybe start using the forum for the "g" model.....

Well, I'm not rooted and I like bits and pieces of wisdom...
If you are not rooted, there are at least 2 options:
1. Samsung Kies (yeah, I know... who uses Kies at all?)
2. MyPhoneExplorer
Hello everyone,I want to upgrade CM 10.1 but is it possible to back up my all apps or everything in phone now. After I jump CM I want to use my phone like previous. As short as I dont want to loose my info.Thanks.
Titanium backup for your apps and data, sms backup for your texts. Sync contacts to google, call log, there's an app for that as well but can't remeber the name.
Stuff on the external sd can be left as it is, make sure you back up any photos etc from your internal sd.
Wipe everything when you're installing cm and everything should be there
