Have you flashed a new ROM?...sounds like your SU is botched.
Sent from my THUNDERBOLT using the XDA app

It wouldnt work before I flashed the extreme rom nor after. other root apps work fine titanium, rom manager, setcpu.
I also flashed the su fix

I'm having the exact same problem too. Anything I do gives me that message.

What are the permissions set at? Use root explorer, look under user/data.

Root functions on unrooted p500 with cm7

Is it posible to do root function(overclock, change VM heap, screenshot, reboot etc.) from the cm7 settings, after unrooting the phone?
I think it is possible to do them, but will they work?

It isn't because for that stuff you will need administrator privileges (root) maybe you can unroot but before change your user privileges in a terminal maybe thats a workaround

Root explorer will get rid of SU
You have to delete from 3 places in the system section I just can't remember which 3. I did it on the TF101 and it works
Your dont need root to do it but you may need the paid version of Root Explorer

i have application can ROOT & UNROOT all Android Tablets & smartphone.
i have test it in asus prime and its amazing.
download it from this link

if you need more information please visit this link.

good luck.
Depending on how you rooted, the superuser app is probably installed to /system. If this is the case then you can only remove it by doing a full root followed by an unroot.

Thanks for the help, but I've since re-rooted via viper mods tool. And actually just unlocked the bl.

I tried using the viperMod and I still couldnt get su permission, what is wrong. It is in the system files and I tried deleting them with the ROOT Explorer app stated above and nothing worked. What am I doing Wrong?
EDIT: sorry I didn't notice that jmikeb92 was not the OP. So this post probably makes no sense.

If I were you I'd root using mempodroid, install the su binary, then use a terminal shell to remove all traces of root (ie: superuser apk, busybox, su).
Another thing you can do is check the permissions on your su binary. Not sure where vipermod puts it, probably in /system/xbin. Check that it is setuid at least. If it is not, that's your problem. In this case gain root using mempodroid and setuid the sucker.

No it is not difficult but you would need some knowledge of linux security. For example what setuid/setgid is, how to change file ownership, how to change file permissions.
There are lots of resources out there if you are interested in that sort of thing.
Hi,
I had this problem and spent hours before I could figure out how to remove Superuser.
Maybe you can try this method:
First, download Root Browser Lite from the market. It's like Root Explorer, but it's free and can work with both rooted and unrooted device. Then, open it and go to system>app. Inside the folder, delete the file 'Superuser.apk'. When it's done, power off to restart the phone.
If that doesn't work, you can do what I did. Search for Superuser in the market and try to uninstall from there. It may take a while. After that if the dead shortcut still appears in the app drawer, you can just reboot the phone and it'll be gone.
For those whose phones are rooted and have Titanium Backup, you can use that to delete the file, too.
Hope it helps.

I tried that method but it says failed to delete superuser.apk, same thing on root explorer

open drawer, put your finger on the superuser app and hold for a few sec. After drawer goes away, keep on holding it. You will see "App Info" at the top of your screen. Move the superuser there and menu will pop up. Clear cash and disable the app. Now it should be gone.
I hope i helped you

[Q] Moved superuser apk and broke root access

Hello. I have rooted my Galaxy SII v 2.3.6 on Gingerbread build EL29 from sprint using the SPH-D710.EL29_CL852097_ROOTED_NODATA-OneClick method from odin found in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1433101 . My super user app was working fine until I accidentally moved it using a file explorer. The super user apk is in my systems/app folder but I can no longer access the program and none of my super user apps work. When I have tried to reroot the phone the oneclick method completes and says things went as planned, but no apk and no root access is available. Can someone please help me restore my root access. Thanks in advance, and apologies if I am in the wrong forum.
Try downloading superuser from the Play Store. Delete the superuser you already have beforehand though.

install from play store did not work
Thank you for the suggestion. Two issues, when I go to the store it says the app is already installed. Also when I try to delete the existing version, I get a permissions denied message. I am still stuck here.

Try to reroot by flashing a rooted kernel, rather than SOC.

Make sure when trying to delete, mount on root explorer should be r/w not r/o
Fixed it
Thanks very much. I used the [e4gtauto-sfx.exe] from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 to unroot and clean up any unneeded files from the phone then I went back to the odin root and now I have restored root access. Thanks again.

Yes his latest CM9 had a dodgy superuser and the solution would be to get a file explorer like EX File Explorer and allow it to browse up to root in settings and then go to system/app and reinstall the superuser.apk. Open it and check for updates to the su binary and reboot. The su problem will be causing other apps to think you're not rooted.

[Q] LagFix (fstrim) on Prime

Hi,
I have downloaded LagFix (fstrim) for my TF201 and when I try to use it it says that it does not have root permission. I am rooted and I have root permissions, since I have Titanium Backup already running on my Prime. So its probably LagFix (fstrim) that did not ask SuperSu for permissions, I was wondering is there a way to manually give a permission to an app ? I really want to use this LagFix (fstrim) cause my prime has become sluggish.
Thanks in advance
Go into super su and open up the permission for it and you should be able to change it.

How do you do that since LagFix (fstrim) never asked for any permissions. I know I am a noob.
Sorry it is not SuperSU it is Superuser.
LagFix (fstrim) just never asked for Root permission to Superuser so because of that it wont do the fstrim

I suggest you simply uninstall.. LagFix
then update superuser (I personally love SuperSU)
and then reinstall..
Thanks button deserves a click. no?
Just delete all lagfixes data and open it again

I did what you said its still does not work, I also did what Makrilli said do delete data for lagfixes it stills does not work, it does not get Root permission, I wish there was a way to manually give an app root permission.

You could try to set supersu to automaticly to give access to root. Also you could try to use superuser instead

Unfortunately I did that too, I dont know why it does not want to give root to lagfix when I gave root to other apps just fine in the past they are all still rooted and have permission, including AdAway and Titanium Backup.
