Search doesn't work, period, I tried.
My phone is brand new U.S. model with 1.6 installed.
I'm still experimenting.
I imported one album in MP3 format. It was fine on the computer, but when I open it on the phone, it has lost the song sequence. They appear to be randomly arranged.
I'm going to have to rip my entire CD collection (that is going to be quite a project) so I am open to changing rippers to any lossless one that works well with the Streak if someone has a suggestion.
Thanks

Help PLEASE, I don't think I'm stupid BUT ..................
Has anyone succeeded in putting their own ringtones onto the Lobster.
I've tried every format - including mid/midi, I've tried every folder - including Windows but they will not show up!
I note that the pre installed ringtone files are ticked as "in Rom" when I check with total commander but I am unable to give my new files the same attribute.
I have used prophet, S/E P900 etc etc and never had a problem.
Am I missing something obvious.
Thanks in anticipation.
Put them in the /My Documents folder (on the phone)
Try putting them in the /My Documents folder directly on your phone (not the SD card).
I've got cut down (30 seconds worth) of WAV and MP3 music files as ringtones in this directory with no problems, as well as midi files.
Hope this helps,
Cheers
Finally worked it out!
You need to put the file under Application Data under My Device, then the tunes will be listed when selecting Ring Tones. Not very obvious! Poor design by lobster
i know how to put mp3s as a ringtone
what you have to do is make sure they are in wma format, then put them in windows>rings. i did that with mine and it works. mp3s dont work, unfortunately. its pretty bad programming on microsofts account
you should move the files you want to use as ringtones in:
my device\application data\sounds\
it works like a charm every time, and it's cool to hear Pain - Shut Your Mouth.mp3 as the morning alarm
and it's good for ringing too, it sounds like an oldschool phone and when
you take out the beast (Lobster) people are like WTF, I like it
one messy thing is that windows media player doesn't find it when you try to open file through it, through explorer it opens, but who cares, TCPMP is a loooot better IMHO (if you don't watch wmv's of course , but only then )
greetings from Bulgaria!
Hi folks,
My Hero runs on 2.1.
I've recently moved some music onto my phone but no matter what I do, the mp3s are not detected by either the stock mp3 player or MixZing player. When I access the actual mp3 files through Linda file manager and open them using MixZing, they play, but I get an error about tags missing.
After seeing this error, I've downloaded a couple of different tag editors and made sure every single field (i.e. genre, artist, etc.) was filled out properly. Still, the problem remains: no mp3 player on the Hero detects these mp3 files.
Anyone run into this problem before and know the fix?
Thanks!
Problem solved. The way windows media player synced the files was not good. I replaced them manually in a different folder and, presto.
Mods, you can close or delete this.
hi, i'm migrating from a nokia phone
so far so good
my nokia had a decent media player, and since not all my mp3's had proper tags and i didn't want to mess with it too much, i just autocrected a playlist for each folder which was more than enough for me.
now on the vibrant, some files don't open (i assume aac/m4a's but that's ok), but most annoying, all the playlists are gone.
which format should i use, can they remain scattered or do i need to put them somewhere?
can anyone post an example of the format? i used windows media m3u on nokia...
thanks

I just discovered how to sync playlists with my vibrant tonight. You'll need to use MediaMonkey though. It's free and has a nice interface. Been using MediaMonkey since I had my Samsung MP3 Player with the slide out speakers.

Alright, this might be a stupid question, but It's been giving me somewhat trouble now.
I prepared my entire music folder on my PC, and then just transfered it via USB cabe to the phone. I'm from Bosnia, so there are loads of č ć š đ ž characters to go around. However, the phone turned most of that into korean characters / boxes. The sad thing is, it didn't do it to every one, so I might end up with one song having the proper artist name, the next one has a box instead of a special letter.
Any help?
EDIT: That being said, the files themselves now have changed characters, so even when looking at them in the explorer they're screwed up, so I imagine it has nothing to do with the music player.
EDIT 2: Upon further experimentation using the winamp device sync, copying a song from the phone into the local library of winamp causes the letters to once again appear properly.
so what's the trick for keeping all my music in their respected folders, so that when i pull up the albums list. everything is in the folder and not scattered throughout the list as their own individual albums?
when android was in the 2's, i had absolutely no problems. everything was right where it was supposed to be. exactly as it looked on my computer when phone was plugged into computer., but ever since 4's came out. i've had problems with missing songs and other songs scattered.
i've copied my music folder onto my computer so i can maybe redownload and start off from scratch. i've deleted the music folder from the phone.
right now i've only got one album. 8 songs in that album folder. only 7 are listed, the 8th song comes up as it's own album. if i continue reloading all my music i'm not going to be any better off. i'll still have a scattered list of albums and songs not where they are supposed to be.
i don't know if i'm missing songs on the phone itself as there's too many to keep track of. everything is on the computer, i'll just have to sort through peice at a time.
i'm also having problems with album names. half my folders simply pull up as UNTITED and some dates and what not.
all my folders that have specific bands in each folder come up with the bands name. but my folders that have various music in them and are titled as the type of music, come up as UNTITLE ALBUM. so i have no clue which folder contains which type of music. for instance, rock folder, country folder, say UNTITLED.
is there a trick to fix this insanity. i really don't want to buy a seperate mp3 player and have to deal with either more cords or batteries. my phone can do everything that life throws at it basically. i'd like to just keep it like that. and have my music work, like it did in the old days when phones came with android 2.x
EXAMPLE: i have 8 nickleback songs in one folder. folder comes up as nickleback but only 7 songs are in the folder. the 8th song is a album on it's own.,
EXAMPLE: i have 12 fleetwood mac songs in one folder. all 12 songs come up in the album. but instead of being called fleetwood mac. it's called UNKNOWN ALBUM (date). date being when it was created.
this is on my verizon phone. my sprint note2 seems to be worse. 5 nickleback in one album, the other 3 are their own albums. fleetwood mac album as all the songs, but again. unknown album.
looks like an issue with android and windows phone. and the best answer anyone can come up with, is something about tagging.
might have to convert myself to iphone.
