HTC Thunderbolt - I am having problems where the messaging app keeps crashing when I have a large number of SMS messages in there. I have about 5000 SMS messages restored from my old phone, but when loaded the stock messaging app will load very slowly. Eventually (after opening the app once or twice), it will force close every time that I open the app. Sometimes it will open, but it won't display any of my messages, and then just force close.
This happens with both the stock messaging app and something like Handcent, so it leads me to believe that it is something with the Messaging store. I get no problems if I start with no messages, and have only like 100 in there.
I've restarted and did a factory reset. Same problems. Anyone else having the problem with a large number of SMS messages?

Title says it all, I can navigate the Gmail app with no trouble. The moment I attempt to press the Send button on an outgoing email I get a force close.
Clearing data and cache for the gmail app results no change.
I am completely stock except for the 30-40 random apps I've installed....
Thanks
I'm sick of all the ****ty Moto apps that are spread across like 5 different apps...There's "Messaging", "Messages", and "Text Messaging". I had frozen the Messaging one when I was on Froyo, and everything was fine...
So I just froze Messaging and Messages on my Kenn 2.3.4 ROM, since I only friggin use the Text Messaging app. Now it force closes every time I open...a reboot didn't fix. I unfroze the other apps, opened them up and they seemed fine. I cleared Text Messaging's data, etc. etc..... What can I do? God I hate Motoblur. I also hate myself for thinking I was smart enough to freeze whatever I wanted though..
i froze all of them. i use an alternative messaging app. im going to try to switch to android stock though. so there's an option for you.
GoSMS... Handcent...
Freeze Text messaging too.
For some reason one day i want to send a text massage but then i cant find my built in messaging app. it just disappeared from the whole phone leaving no trace whatsoever. Is there any messaging apk that i can install? is there anything i can do to restore it?
All of sudden I've been having issues with SMS crashing messaging apps. I regularly use Hangouts, though I tried using Google Messenger as well to fix this issue. It seems that whenever I open a conversation that involves SMS, the app will say that it has stopped. However, Hangout conversations and MMS(group conversations) don't crash the app. Any ideas on how I can fix this issue without wiping the messages?
I do have root and a custom recovery available if a fix would involve it. This is on a 1stG Moto X on 4.4.4

It sounds like something corrupted your sms data base. My advise would be to use an app to back them up then wipe the data of sms app to clear it out and test. Them restore and test again. This happens when people restore sms logs.
Hello,
Xperia M5
Android 6.0
Rooted
No users apps running in the background. Ram is free. Storage memories are abundant.
But I am getting Unfortunately xxxxx has stopped for specific apps only.
Phone Dialer. When I try to pull out number pad for dialing, it crashes. . I have to save the number through 'Contacts' first, then dial. The 'Contacts' app itself works. I can browse through saved contacts and dial them. But when I try to bring the Dialler it gives me the error message. 'Unfortunately the contact has stoped'.
Messages (sms app)
Firefox
Naked Browser
Maxthon
Opera
Certain banking apps.
These crash when I try to run them. I have tried force stop, clear cache, clear Data, uninstall, reinstall. Nothing works.
They did not stop working all at once.
First the Phone Dialer started doing this. Other apps were working. Then after 3 months sms 'Messages' system app started crashing. Then slowly after 2 month one by one the others above mentioned apps started crashing.
Games, Audio, music, playstore, youtube, file browser, albums, camera, all these things are still working without errors.
I believe there is a specific reason for this, that you experts might know a solution to.
Please let me know.
Thank you.
Anyone has got the solution?
Now the Gmail app, and create account window that appears when i want to add a google account also crashes. I mean vanishes within fraction of second.
