I know there are guides out there to go to earlier versions of Streakdroid, but I can't tell if I can go straight there from my stock build.
Android Version 2.2.1
BUILD NUMBER 14896
ROGERS NETWORK
A modified idiots guide would be great,or something like it,to those of us just coming online...or some kind soul who remembers what it is like could hold my hand to get me pointed in the right direction?>There is a boatload of info that seems like it is constantly changing.
Thanks
Yes you can go stalraight to 1.9.0, just Put the 1.9.0 update.zip and install.txt in the root of your sd card, flash streakmod recovery, reboot into recovery, install 1.9.0, and you are done, just follow the guide, you won't get lost.

Yep. I did it on mine.
In addition to what eowyn0821 mentioned, I fastboot-ed the baseband and 720p fix as well. Just in case. Remember to wipe using the default factory reset not the recovery.
i cannot flash streak recovery,it just says waiting on device but never does anything
and i cant boot phone up.....stays at boot logo
i took out sd card and installed different roms,1.6 to 1.9.0 but stock recovery cant see .zip only update.pkg so i renamed....but after it sees the update and tries to install.....i get the,
E:signature verification failed error
and i dont know where to download the att stock froyo
i believe im on gausbxxx34041,how can i get it to reboot only having the stock recovery?
ive tried the factory reset option, still hangs at boot up
pleas help me before i wear out the tabs on my back cover

The reason you are having error is because you renamed the zips to pkg which they are not, they are zip that is why when it was opened you get the error. Go to the wiki page section of xda for dell streak you can find all the roms, recovery, basebands almost anything you need about streak.

So step 1 for me should be to root my phone correct?
( hello I guess I might need to do a backup first?)
and then I'm clear to use streakmod recovery to reload the zip file.
do I also need to upgrade my baseband first, or is this an optional step?

Yes it is an optional step, it depends on you on what baseband you want to use, but if you are planning to go 1.9.0 i suggest you stick with 345 as i know it was based on 341 and 345 builds.

Just my two cents' worth. Tried to upgrade from streakdroid 1.8 to 1.9 without factory reset. Worked fine. Tried again with a factory reset. Went into an endless loop - boot screen to unlock screen to boot screen..... and so on.
Flashed stock recovery, did a factory reset from stock recovery, flashed streakmod recovery, installed 1.5, then 1.8, then without a factory reset installed 1.9 - all worked fine.
Okay,so far I have installed superoneclick and it looks like all is well and I have installed clockwork recovery and all seems as it should be.
How do I get the install.txt and the update.zip package onto the root of the sd card?Is this the same as just dumping into the sd card from windows? Or do I have to do this in the phone?
Do i need to rename the zip to update.pkg?

If you are coming from any 2.2 you do not need to install superuser as all streakdroid such as 1.9.0 are all rooted, yes you just have to copy the 1.9.0 update.zip and install.txt from your comouter and paste them on your sdcard. You do not have to rename it to pkg as clockwork and streakmod only install update.zip and stock/dell recovery install update.pkg. All streakdroid roms are update.zip and should remain as such.

The recovery usually has some options to mount the sdcard. I have used it on streakmod recovery. You might wanna use that to get the right files on the sdcard to install the new rom.
This gallery will show you the menu options that allow you to mount the SD Card from streakmod recovery.
Thanks for your input, after a few false starts I am up and running-so what's the standard donation for a new improved ROM these days?
Right off the bat,i am very impressed by the display res.Even at what I assume is the stock 160dpi the screen looks amazing.Coming from the samsung galaxy, this was one of the larger dissapointments with my dell..up until now.
In the end it waz streakmod recovery v0.3.2.6 beta that worked the charm for me.Multi recovery and clockwork was no good but I was likely the bug .

Problem with Google
Hello all,
After update to 1.9.0 i have one very annoying problem - i simply cannot sync with Google.
Account is enabled, but inside settings->accounts&sync->my account list is empty.
Simply no options to sync.
After factory data reset (via privacy settings), all options appear (calendar, contacts, etc) but still cannot sync.
"Sync is not possible now, try again later".
Update options were "bios, stageui, noswype".
What can be wrong?
Ok, problem disappear just today.
I did nothing.
Next issue - keyboard settings are not available.
Language - English, United States.
When i try to push Android keyboard button in language & kb menu, i have error "process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly.
What can be wrong?
mucho problemos w titanium backup
So my installation of 1.9 Streakdroid over stock 2.2 ran quite well except for some minor issues. One that was bugging me was the time stamp coming in wrong on texts which is a big pain.(I am now working around it by making time settings manual and setting myself to +-0 gmt)
So I thought I had better do the factory reset and clear the Davik cache and see what happens.I backed up using Titanium and proceeded as planned.
Factory reset and everything is okay but every time I go to restore my apps and system data the phone completely craps out.It seemed okay for a while but progressively got worse until I was forced to repeat the procedure many times. At this point every time I go to restore everything with TB the phone totally craps out FC'ing everything imaginable.
System reset restores to a working state but as soon as I restore ADW or TB it seems to crap everything out.
Anybody know how I can retrieve settings from a single app (my tracks) out of a titanium backup? Is there an extraction tool that would bypass everything else?

HI i went to put evil eris 4.0 on my phone and it loaded up just fine except my data wasnt working but thats because i had my phone flashed to metro pcs with the data. Anyways i got the celb froyo zip off xda {latest version} and the gapps and tryed to load the zip but first i did a wipe and tryed to load it but it wont load. It just stay on the boot screen with android on the skateboard .Now when in hboot ,my phone says wrong img and when i try to load another rom in recovery it says no space left on device and it wont load any rom did i screw my self. I have adb setup is there any method for me to start fresh and reroot with a custom rom? thanks alot in advance i think i did somehting else to it but i dont remember
Since your using metro pcs I have no idea how to help or what to suggest, but if you can see the splash screen and bootloader then your not bricked.

It doesn't matter if I revert back to Verizon and that wouldn't matter anyways since the hex esn number is in metros database but I don't care if I revert back to stock or whatever I just want my phone back no hold bar at this point

Not sure if it will help but did see couple threads about Metro here, I would check those. May give you some ideas on how to fix.
Just do a search on metropcs should get at least one hit, not sure if the other had just metro or metropcs
I don't care about metro I just wanna revert back to stock do you think if I can get the stock 2.1 rom and try to flash it would work?

Did you do a full wipe after flashing the Froyo rom and before attempting to flash another rom? Sometimes you need to wipe more than once for the new rom to load properly.

Yes I did a wipe initialy when I loaded evil eris v4.0 and that booted up fine and then I decided I wanted a 2.2 rom so I got the celb rom for the Eris and the gapps and then I rebooted into recovery and did a wipe and uploaded the celb rom and it wouldn't load after. 30mins I said screw it and poped out the battery and booted into recovery and tryed to wipe and reload but it kept saying staus 7 and no space left on device so I don't know what else to do..

Did you do a nandroid backup before you tried the 2.2 rom? If so, boot back to recovery, nand backup/restore and restore your backup.
Also, some roms need you to flash the rom, then the gapps, then boot. If you miss one and boot early, you'll get looped!

Since you still have recovery, you're not bricked. It's just a matter of getting a rom to boot. Was your sd card partitioned for apps2sd while on the 2.1 rom? Also, did you try wiping your rotation sensors and battery stats? If you don't have a nandroid (mentioned above), wipe, wipe, wipe and flash a new 2.1 rom.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to loads new rom and get stuck at the white screen. I've flashed many roms before. But lately get stuck at the boot stage.

Wiping those stats has no real use when changing roms if you're not already having problems. However, I've read other threads where people have been stuck in boot loops or not booting at all and that has helped them. Worse case scenario, if you wipe them and it doesn't fix your problem, it hasn't started any either. How many people actually use battery stats or change sensor settings?
Just trying to help.

eris_evil,
Do you know how to use the adb command line, and you have your PC set up (USB drivers and all) so that it is working?
If so, charge your phone fully (100%), and then:
- plug it in (USB) to the PC
- boot the phone into Amon_RA
- from the command line on the PC, run the following commands:
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb shell umount /system
adb shell mount /data
adb shell umount /data
adb shell mount /cache
adb shell umount /cache
And then report back if you see these commands reporting errors. Do NOT paraphrase - cut and paste the exact text you see into a reply here. I am guessing you will see an error with either /system or /data.

None of the HTC/VZW OTAs will work unless you have the stock recovery installed. Also, they will bomb out immediately if you have the wrong OS on the phone. Not a chance in h3ll that they will work on a (dev) ROM - the first thing they do is call getprop() to check the currently installed software version.
Nevertheless, the original download links (Google) for all of the Eris OTAs are listed in this XDA post
You can attempt flashing the Leak-V3 PB00IMG.ZIP ROM to your phone using the HBOOT + PB00IMG.ZIP method. Given the state that your phone is in, I'd guess there is about a 50/50 chance you will end up with a brick.
There are other approaches that are much more cautious - but are not guaranteed to work, and would require me to write a novel to describe them.
Basically, you attempt to do everything possible inside the recovery boot before you touch either "system" or "data" further - but you start by getting the 1.49.2000 S-OFF bootloader onto the phone. That requires jcase's "misc" image flashing, plus a HBOOT+(Root ROM)PB00IMG.ZIP install with a Toastcfh "battery pull trick".
That would give you the option to use fastboot mode to flash either Amon_RA or Clockwork to the recovery partition - that can only be done with the S-OFF bootloader
bftb0
You can only load Pb00img.zip from hboot. That's the only one that will work in hboot.
Put that file in your root folder on your sd card and shut your eris off. Hold the volume down button and turn your power on and you should be alright

If not do you think that since I bought my eris second hand will htc sill honor the manufacturers warranty if I send it to them plus I already called them and they said the warranty is still good because I haven't tryed to take the phone apart. I never told them I rooted my phone or tryed to put a custom rom on it but nor did they ask either. All I told them was one day I went to use it and it would not work. The only thing is if the phone won't turn on at all will they be able to tell I was messing with it. And if there is an other option to fix it without having to mail it out for three weeks.

I had streakdroid 1.9.1 installed on my rogers streak, I had quite a few issues with it and wanted to revert back to stock rom.
once I unrooted and factory reset I flashed the stock rogers rom via fast boot with the right recovery image.
one done I get the dell logo on screen and it stays there FOREVER.. like its been on the logo screen for over an hour.
What am I doing wrong and how long should it take to install and what not.
I might not have all the right info in here Im a newbie sorry in advance
Envious1
so I loaded the streak in fastboot mode
then on pc went to cmd and made sure I had the right recovery img in the folder and the right pkg file on the sdcard
put in the command and installed the recovery img
then the streak reloaded and I went to update.pkg and it did that
android system recovery utility - GAUSB1A13500
Press the shutter button to start emergency software recovery
ect...
now its stuck on dell logo.. how long should it take after an hour I rebooted and it went directly to white page that said emergency sofware recovery start.
what should I do.
you could flash 1.9.1 again, that will save your phone.
You could keep trying to flash a stock rom and eventually it will work.

Basically do what you did when you installed streakdroid 1.9.1 into your streak.
Then retry the stock recovery and rom again is, what i think eSZee is trying to say, correct me if i am wrong.
so I got 1.9.1 installed back on but now when I boot up and select dell stages I get a whole bunch of errors and closes it.
do I need to update the baseband is that my issue? if so how do I do that.
SD 1.9.1 breaks the Stage UI. DJSteve doesn't like stage and has no interest in it. Posts in the 1.9.1 thread have said that if you remove Stage from the Streak with 1.9.1 and then use the aps to re-install it it will work. YMMV and I don't use Stage or 1.9.1 so this is untested by me.

So I wiped everything through cwm recovery and then rebooted to find that I hadnt put the rom on my device anywhere to flash... ROM Manager is gone and now I cant access the internet or use any applications whatsoever. Can I dl ROM mgr to my cpu and install it through fastboot or RSD lite?
It still says unlocked and superuser seems to be opening as well as my camera but nothing else is installed or working. My CPU recognizes it and I can drop files in it as well as run fastboot.
What do I use or how do I get a full ROM back on it so everything will work again?

If your getting force closes after a new tim ibstallation I like to boot into android recovery from the boot screen then I wipe cache and wipe dalvik then wipe data/ factory reset... then reboot... the boot screen will load and you should be good to go.. I was experiencing problems after installing red pill I performed those operations after I installed red pill and it worked fine.. ****** remember the most important step is to back up your original settings to your *****external sd card*****!!! Be careful when you go to factory reset/ wipe data because I noticed the latest version of century for ATRIX gives you the option to delete the sd card contents as well. Hope this helps... if you need more help I will try to help the best as I can... I've noticed alot of people on cds are like pros... they give the technical instructions... where as newer android users need the more basic approach.

So I asked the other day about which rom would be best for a noob like me, in this thread to be exact: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483712 and although most said Eclipse, I had a few people saying CM7 since it is based off of 2.3.4 and I would not have to SBF to try it and so on... So that sounded good to me and I made up my mind to try out CM7 and start out the easiest way possible, heh. So I got started and was following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21342515 downloaded all the files and what not and sat on them for a day before trying anything... cause I was sure I would screw something up... and I feel like I have...
So heres what I did. I read number 1 was NANDROID BACKUP! So I go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083 which says to perform a backup I must be rooted. Now this conflicted with the original thread I had read, but I went ahead and rooted it anyways. Followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315711 and everything went fine. I rooted my phone. But I was already worried because I am not sure if I was supposed to do some kind of back up before rooting... but its a little late for that now.
So now that I am rooted I go back to the original CM7 thread and go ahead and perform the backup which goes fine. Now, at this point I assume I move on to number 5 on that list, because I shouldnt have to root again, correct?
So number 5 states: 5. Put both the Google Apps zip, the CM7 zip, and dragonzkiller's patched BSR apk on your EXTERNAL sd card. I go and get my files and put them on the External SD card (or so I thought). I then move to number 6 that says go into Bootstrap recovery, which I do fine, then move on to the next one that says Install CM7.zip but I cant find it. I see google apps and tethering but nothing about just CM7.zip. Go back to later in the post under downloads and make sure I have everything that is there. I made sure all of this is on my EXTERNAL SD card:
Patched BSR APK for ALL versions of CM7DX2
Google Apps (market, maps, YouTube, etc.) MD5 Sum: e4313eb28b65758bff0cf63bc1a404f5
Tethering Patch for CM7DX2-beta1
REFLASH THE GAPPS AFTER UPGRADING IN CASE OF FACTORY RESTORE
Cyanogenmod 7 for the Motorola Droid X2 - BETA MD5 Sum: 789f25244e475901048e0d0e5908b5a4
I try to click the Patched BSR file, but it doesnt install anything, so I go to install the google apps and tethering assuming CM7 is in there some where... reboot and get stuck in a boot loop. Yeah, I am surprised too I am learning what all these terms mean, lol.
So I didn't know what to do, so I ripped off my Otterbox case and pulled the battery and went back and found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083 and I performed a restore and got my phone to boot back up.
So this is where I am now. I really don't know where to go from here. Am I still rooted? Did I screw up by rooting first? The instructions were really confusing for a noob and I tried to make sure I knew what I was doing before I started and I still managed to screw it up. I am not really worried that I screwed up the phone... seems to be working fine as is, and if I am stuck I guess I can just leave it like this till November when I upgrade... But I would really like to get some help and see if anyone out there could hold my hand and get me thru this and let me know where I went wrong. I am up for continuing... but I need to be clear before I do anything else. I know this is a lot to ask, but if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks so much for your time if you made it this my rambling...
Well first of all do you have Superuser in your app tray?

You did a data wipe in android recovery! If so you need to reroot
Then install our bootstrap recovery,
You already have the files on your card so find them in file manager, boot into bsr, flash cm7, while still in bsr flash gapps. Data/cache/dalvi= wipe
Reboot will take you into cm7, install the patched bsr. Apk inside some file managet program.... Enjoy
from my X2 roaming the north
I wasnt clear on if you got the CM7.zip file cleared up and got it to show up in recovery. That needs to be flashed first. The bootstrap.apk isnt installed in recovery. You install that after you get CM7 up and running. Just go to any file manager and click it. It should ask if you want to install it. The process should be, from stock android:
1. Root your phone
2. Install regular bootstrap (not CM7 bootstrap) EDIT: Actually I think this installs when you root. I dont remember, its been so long. lol. If not, find it and install it.
3. put zip files on your sd card
4. In Booststrap recovery, wipe data, clear cache and under "advanced", clear dalvik cache.
5. Flash CM7 zip FIRST, THEN google apps zip (Probably the tether patch here too, but I never did it so dont take my word on that.)
6. Reboot (CM7 SHOULD boot up)
7. Install the CM7 Bootstrap for future flashing.
You should be good after that.
Just to make things clear, the name of the CM7.zip is this:
update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-daytona-KANG-public-beta1.zip
So, when they say to install the CM7.zip file, that is the file you want to look for.
Here are the files you should have for CM7 and the order they need to be flashed in:
update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-daytona-KANG-public-beta1.zip (Again, this is the mentioned "CM7.zip" file)
gapps-cm7dx2-signed.zip (This is the Google Apps zip)
CM7DX2-beta-tether-patch-signed2.zip (This is the tether patch)
Once you are in CM7, that is when you want to install the MOTODX2_Bootstrap-CM7_signed.apk BSR.

I thought you were supposed to wipe data and cache and all that before flashing. Doesnt wiping it after flashing wipe the stuff you just flashed? Or does it not really matter? I always clear data/cache BEFORE flashing anything.

Yes. I updated it as well.
Thanks everyone, I passed out this morning with the computer sitting on my lap, and just woke up... so I am gonna try to go thru your answers. Appreciate all the help!
Your restore has root. Since you used root to install the recovery, your backup includes the necessary files. Sometimes instructions can be confusing or worded oddly. Once you get the hang of it, it will be easier. First thing you should do is enter our recovery and format data, cache, and dalvic (in the advanced section), then flash your cm7 zip. After, flash gapps and tether patch. I like to put my zips in their own folder so I can find them easily.

Wiping only removes user apps. You can flash cm7 then wipe all day and you will still have cm7 that's why sbf's are necessary.

Sounds like you used the patched bsr to try and flash cm7. That should be installed after cm7 is running on your phone. Should have used the unpatched bsr first.

Yeah, I think I will be able to figure it out with all of your help. I have been busy and not had a chance to get to it yet... but I was wondering if I should start from scratch, un-root and re-root? I was not sure if that is necessary, but I am gonna try again this weekend and wasn't sure. I did want to ask, is it hard to un-root your phone?

SBFing will remove the root because it returns your phone back to stock. It's a complete wipe of ANY changes you've made to the phone.
If you want to ensure that you remove any traces of rooting, flashing, modifications, SBFing will do that.
Hi....
Rooted my phone. Stock 2.3.4. Installed Rom Toolkit Pro. Froze some apps I thought I didnt need and I guess that included the contacts.apk and odex. Thought I had found them and installed them in the system/app but I was wrong. Went back into toolkit and saw a bunch of new system apps in Spanish and some other things in odd code. Decided to do a factory reset which I am now realizing was a bad idea. Now I boot the phone and all is pretty normal until I get to Add Accounts in the set up. Com.motorola.setup keeps fcing and i cant get past it. I jist need my phone back to functioning order. I cant use the market bit can look and replying to INcoming texts. My bf bought me this phone and he os ready to rip my head off. Any any help is appreciated.
More info
I can interact with the phone via voice command/search but have no access to apps or launcher. At this rate I dont care aboit root or anything...would downloading a copy of a stock rom and doing install update by sd calrd via android recovery work?
If your bootloader is locked install bootstrap recovery then in bootstrap recovery format system, data and cache then boot the phone into rsd lite protocol and flash one of the sbf's through rsd lite to return to stock. You will loose root but thats easy enough to get back.
Flashing a stock rom through bootstrap should also do the trick just remember to format the system data and cache partitions before flashing for best results.

Not sure how to do that if I cant interact with my launcher, homescreen, etc. Thanks for the add'l info.
Then you may have to unlock your bootloader and do it through cwm.

...just realized what you were trying to explain (I think). Found the Sprint 2.3.4 sbf. Basically install that through RDSLite on my computer, and actually need very little interaction with the phone's home screen?

Yes. It will rewrite all the system files to the phone.

Flashed stock sbf. Still had the same exact problem, but now had an unrooted phone. Reflashed sbf. Did an Android Recovery factory reset. Wiped partition 3 times (don't know if really necessary but I heard three's the number). Reboot phone. Profit. :good: Just in case anyone is stuck with the whole com.motorola.setup fcs...
