[Bell Vibrant] Button & Network issues [HELP!] - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I just spent most of last night installing CM7 on my Bell Vibrant (i9000m) and I successfully got it running and everything after reading what seemed to be millions of posts on the matter..
Anyway, now that I have it running I have some issues.
1. My home button doesn't work. At all. Except for when I use it to enter recovery mode. It isn't a physical problem, it has worked up to this point, and I use it all the time to enter recovery mode etc.
Someone said flashing a voodoo kernel would fix it, so I went and got the latest one and installed it and nothing happened. Apparently it installed, but I've never even used a voodoo kernel and I have no idea what it did. Oh yeah, and this is my first time flashing a custom rom on my vibrant .. I have previous experience with my old htc hero though.
2. Network issues.
I'm really from B.C. Canada, but I'm in phoenix, AZ for vacation right now. I was bored at night (I go to bed at like 3 am) and I decided to finally put CM7 on it. Now I only get any network access (roaming) when I'm right beside a mall, when previously on stock rom I had network access (still roaming) everywhere.
Btw, I installed radio KB1 initially, then tried KA7 and both of them give nearly no results.
3. My volume up/down buttons are inverted. I don't really care about that though.
Thats about it.. any help would be appreciated. I really want my home button fixed so I can finally go on without having to restart if something f***s up, its really annoying.
The network issue isn't that big of a deal, I'm expecting it to work when I get home.
Thanks !

bumpy bump

I'm pretty sure that the Bell Vibrant is more like the European i9000 than the American Vibrant (T-959). The buttons are mapped differently and our roms will cause the problems you're talking about.

Yup. Just looked at some pictures of a Bell Vibrant to make sure. You need to be in the i9000 section.

Two parter, first part HELP!!!

First off this is my first post, and I gotta thank everyone cause I've been able to do some cool stuff with my phone and without the support of the community and the vast knowledge some of the guys (and gals) have on xda, I would be just another average consumer. And I'm still learning.
So a few days ago I tried to update my rooted Vibrant (with the lag fix) through Tmobile, like a noob, without unrooting my phone and everything was going great until the phone rebooted and got stuck on the "Samsung" startup screen.
I was able to fix that after reading through the odin3 fix and got the phone up and running again. Decided I didn't need froyo that bad and just reinstalled all my old stuff with Titanium backup.
Then after reading through the forums a little more I got the itch to try 2.2 again, so I was a little smarter this time, undid the lagfix, unrooted the phone and started the update. But once again, frozen at the "Samsung" screen...
Odin to the rescue again. But this time as odin was doing its thing, the power went out in my house, ughhh! Got everything back up and running and when I tried to turn the phone on it goes to a screen I haven't seen before, with a "phone" icon, two dots, a "triangle caution" icon, two dots, and a "computer" icon, and it wont get out of it. It won't connect to my computer so it won't connect to odin.
I'm usually decent at finding the solutions on the forums and I could have sworn I read somewhere about this type of problem, but I guess I'm wording my searches wrong so nothing is coming up.
So how do I get my phone out of this mode? Or is it bricked?
Also does anyone now why the phone would freeze like that after the update? I probably should have just flashed one of the froyo roms, but I figured it would be easier to return if the OS was from Tmobile.

[Q] Numerous ROM issues.

I recently went ahead and unrooted my eris so I could call and get a new one sent to me since I'm still under warrantee, and on the other phone I never seemed to have a problem with rooting it and installing the roms. But now for some infuriating reason, every rom I've tried has given me issues within the starting point of loading them. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=677097 <- That one loaded perfectly fine, but then my internet would just refuse to work.
I also tried one called Pure Eris I think it was called, but that one would just stay stuck on the loading screen, go black, then go back to the loading screen, not sure how I had the patience to sit through that for an hour assuming it was perhaps just going to take a while. I used this thread as a help to see if I was perhaps doing something wrong http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835758 I did everything it said to do, and then went ahead and found another rom I thought I'd enjoy, but then all of a sudden I'm required to re-activate my phone. When I call to activate, the keypad refuses to show, and I need to press 1 to activate. Hah. It's just been a hair-ripping experience today.
Now I'm attempting to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769624 and HOPING I won't have yet again anymore issues.
Anyone have an idea of what I may be doing wrong even after following those instructions? I'm still new to this so to say, since I've only rooted the eris once before this, and I didn't have a problem until now. Rooted it just the same, and each theme seems to make a new problem arise. Haaaaaalp?

The last link you put up is a theme, not a Rom. Which ROM are you currently using?
Be sure when changing roms to wipe data and cache. Not doing so will cause a boot loop, which you described above. Also, if you have to reactivate your phone and can't get a dial pad, long press the menu button to bring up the keyboard and use the keyboard numbers.

I don't know what all roms you have tried that won't boot but there was one person who's phones could not boot my cfsv6 through cfsv8 kernels. I fixed the issue in cfsv9 kernel so check to see if the roms you have tried are using those kernels. I know the one you said booted was an older rom and was not using my kernel. CELBFroyo is using the v9 kernel if you want to test that. If that is your issue you can just download the cfsv9 kernel and flash it after flashing the rom of your choice. It was something to do with the hardware in a small percentage of eris's that the kernel would not work with. Maybe you have the same hardware as that case...

[Q] Touchscreen Issues??

Hello all,
I've had the same touchscreen? issues with 2 different Evo3D's. The first phone I had replaced even though when I took the phone to a Sprint repair center, the Slate machine said theres nothing wrong with the phone.
What happens is quite simply is the phone starts acting crazy. It acts like Im pressing on the screen, making tons of selections, calling people etc...I can click on the power button to make it stop. But then it will act up again in a few minutes. The first phone I had the store flash back to stock, turned s-off etc... It didn't make a difference. No matter what ROM is on the phone it continues to do it. So I had that phone replaced.
The second phone does the exact samething. If I didn't have the first phone in front of me when I received the second one, I would have thought they sent me the same phone back to me. I rooted this one right away as the other one so I dont know if the phone had the same problem before the root process. I've stuck on a ton of different ROMS to various degrees of success. I'm running Eternity right now because it allows me to at least use the phone semi functionally. The touchscreen problems are limited to the upper 20% of the screen where its unresonsive most of the time. But the craziness clicking is down to a minimum comapred to other roms.
I fixed the problem once when I was flipping ROMS and kernels. I put on ViperROM2.1 then flashed the Tiamat kernel. I was like yesssssss, I found the right combo. But alot of the phones functions didnt work like voice reconition, 4g, etc... So I cleared storage to start again and all the problems of the touchscreen as before came back. I've tried flashing kernels like Tiamat, stock, dual cores, single cores. Always have the same result. Last bit of info is I tried to superwipe and that failed. So maybe theres something in the internal memory thats causing all these problems? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My guess is that something is screwing up kernal wise or your flashing. If your phone was fine stock then something got dicked during the flash.
Is there anything I can do to a clean wipe and start fresh again? Or should I try to figure out why the Superwipe isnt working? Or do I have to flash all the stock back on and turn the s-on and get a new phone? I think the digitizer is causing these issues.

[Q] HELP home key, menu key, back key, and search key wont work

My rezound has been acting weird lately. I cant pinpoint exactly when it started but I kinda think it happened after a OTA recient update (If one happened in the last two weeks)
The first thing I noticed was it was always in 4g (awesome right) Even while driving in the middle of nowhere, miles away from the nearest city. My wife's rezound is never in 4g. On a side note it was real 4g not some weird placebo. I had speed tests of 10-20 mb.
But then apps would start loading by themselves, and dolphin tabs would start going to websites I didn't choose.
Now all 4 of my keys (home, menu, back, and search) don't work.
I have tried everything from pulling the battery/sim card to reset to factory defaults, and it didn't help.
I do not have it rooted, nor did i try to install any kind of custom rom. I have in the past with my evo, but my rezound is still new to me. I planned on waiting till i was board with it before I played around with rooting it.
I would have no problem rooting and installing some custom kernal or rom if it would fix my rezound.
call verizon a get a replacement. ASAP

[Q] Restart superuser?

Hi all,
First, a bit of phone history. I rooted my phone before 4.4 and my sole purpose of rooting was to have the WIFI tether app working since I use my iPad at work and wanted to be able to connect to the internet there using my phone. I didn't care about custom ROMS, since I really don't have the customizing curiosity most of you have with totally overhauling my phone. (I'm getting old, I think, heh)
So it was working fine all summer and then about 2 months ago after I said to myself, "Hey, I wouldn't mind having fastboot turned on again", my phone got stuck in a horrid bootloop. It took about 5 hours of rebooting and swearing for it to finally give me any access to the bootloader.
When I was able to do anything to the phone, in a panic, I simply did a factory reset.
It actually went well. Though I had to do it twice for it to go smoothly. Now my phone runs much smoother. (Even though I don't do custom ROMS, I do install a ton of interface tweaks from the App Store. And yes, I pay for them) Also the battery lasts a LOT longer.
Now the bad news. My bootloaded shows I'm tampered and unlocked, but my superuser must be broken and nothing on the phone shows I'm rooted. Root required apps won't work and apps to check if I'm rooted say I'm not.
WIFI tether of course also doesn't work but that's not the problem I'm asking you all about.
The REAL problem is my 3G/4G radios seem to be broken. What I mean is if I set my phone to be LTE/CDMA the phone will switch back and forth every couple minutes between the two regardless of signal strength leaving the connection gone while it keeps switching back and forth. If I leave it on CDMA only, my connection is fine, except of course I'm on 3G which is slow. (duh) This problem occurs anywhere. The same at work or at home 20 miles away, which I assume uses a different tower.
Yesterday my boss at work got a new Galaxy 5 and asked my to help him set it up. We are both on Sprint and work in a factory which causes the 4G to be quite slow inside, but I promptly installed speedtest and ran it on both his phone and mine (I turned my 4G back on for the test) He scored a 22 Mbps while I scored a .5 Mbps.
Yikes! I guess my radio really is broken.
Can anyone help me to get this phone going in either direction? Either fully rooted with the radio and WIFI tether fixed or even backwards going unrooted stock with the radios fixed?
I'm heading out right now so can't reply right away, so forgive me if I can't answer any questions until later tonight.
Thanks in advance!
p.s. I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers and can follow most rooting guides without hand-holding, though I admit some of the Rooting process is beyond my grasp since I'm not really into the developing mindset.
Yikes, 24 views and no replies. I thought I might have been too long winded . ?
I should have just posted this; Help, I'm unlocked but my superuser isn't working
?
Hello, I am by all means no expert and i had seen this and figured one of those would come here and help you but it seems everyone may be busy for the holidays. Kidding aside, if it were mine and this happened what I would do is flash a custom recovery like TWRP and then it will tell you you are not rooted and then you can install supersu from there. There may be other ways or easier ways to accomplish what you need but this is the method that I personally would try. I know just enough to get myself in and out of basic situations but I do believe this will work for you. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable folks will chime in with some better advise. Good luck and let us know if you get it sorted.
Bryon
Thanks Byron, I'll give it a try after work, don't want to screw up my phone right before I need it.
I still haven't tried it yet, I want to wait until I'm off for the holidays to blow up my phone
