I flashed void-echo and prime today. Both worked fine except for one major problem.
I can't seem to get internet access on my optimus after I flashed the rom.
I tried rebooting,enabling/disabling data access, airplane mode etc but nothing worked.
Finally tried restoring the nandroid backup I took before installing void and then I was able to access the net.
Can somebody tell me if I am missing anything here.I want to install Void but without internet obviously there is no point.
I use tata docomo and currently I have void installed.
Please ignore. I got it.
The APN was missing.
sorry for the unnecessary post but can't find any delete button!!

I installed the new OTA update earlier today and then did the one click mod.
Then installed CWM Recovery using the guide on this site.
Everything went perfectly the first try. I have ROM Manager installed also.
Browsing works fine.
When trying to download an app it errors out in the info bar and says, "Download was unsuccessful." Sometimes AppBrain will say connection error after opening.
Gmail app gives me a connection error, as does Google Talk.
I've tried clearing the data and cache for all these apps including the Download Manager and rebooting. I'm treading in unfamiliar waters and I'm not sure what to try next. I'd love some help please!
Was so excited that everything went flawlessly and now this...
I waited for the OTA update before rooting just so I'd be as legit as possible. I'm not sure if the root caused the problems or if flashing CWM caused the problems, so I've been trying to find a way to go in reverse and get rid of CWM, but I haven't found anything that's made sense yet. From what I gather I'd have to put the stock Recovery back, and I don't know how to do that. All I have is a ROM Manager backup that I performed after the CWM install.
I'm confused and I hope someone can point me in a safe direction.
Fixed itself. Glad I was patient enough not to try something stupid.
See, I was out of cell service while rooting. Once I got into 3g service this morning everything started working. Even turned airplane mode on and everything works via wireless now.
Haven't a clue why, but I'm thankful nonetheless. : )
Hi all,
I explain u in more details what's happen !
the result : no more call or sms can be send or receive, but internet browse work !!!
the chronology :
I use foxhound rom since months and months
I bought a S3 in june locked, that i unlocked changing the nv_data.bin and i rooted it
I updated my rom with the LG8 version last week, and so lock came back
==> so i used voodoo unlock apk + fix 0.1
2 days after i discover that i can't receive or send anymore any call or sms
i do not need anymore voodoo unlock seen that i BUY A CODE TO UNLOCK PERMANENTLY MY PHONE
so i try to install other roms and modems with each time a full wipe, reset (before to install rom or modem) == the problem STAY
as well with others modems version like DXLF3 LF2,LFB, LG8, LG6
as well trying to fix permission each time
as well verifying the apn settings
the phone is rooted as before
but my phone stay useless even after to install so many roms and modems (cyanogen, stock, foxhound roms)
the signal stay on 3G when i try to call o to send sms but browsing it change to H+
NO CALL, NO SMS WORKING BUT INTERNET WORKING
i have seen that the voodoo fix changed libsec-ril.so, it can be the problem ?
install a rom or a modem doesn't overwrite this library ?
what have been changed by the voodoo apk or the fix that is not overwritten reinstalling a rom or modem ?
i suppose the origine of the problem come from this tool ?! since i use it, happens my problem.
can i find somewhere a backup of the root folder to reinit my phone totally knowing i have a backup of my original EFS folder?
how can i find the origin of the problem if it is not this library ?
PLEASE

hi fenjen, it has been done few times without success
i suspect libsec-ril.so to have been modified but i'm not sure, i don't know what is use for but applying the fix of voodoo unlock, this fix replace the one on the phone !
best regards
First of all, supercurio hasn't released any fix, he even said that this fix isn't a proper one, so his app is still removed from Google Play.
Second, Voodoo Unlock won't damage your efs folder.
Third, consequences of use of the fix aren't know, but many people are using it without a problem.
Forth, the fix must be the last thing to be done. If you flash a ROM after you applied it, the fix will be gone.
which library is invoked for call and smms but not for browsing internet ?!
which check can i do?, after to have install so many rom, kernel and modem, reset, full wipe so many time, verify permission and apn settings !!!
it seem like call or sms are not able to invoke the right service but go on internet yes
it's related with data service ?
i become to be crazy with this problem (((((

Well I don't know what is the problem. What I can recommend is that you flash a stock ROM (try the original one, the one that came with your phone). If it still doesn't work, try to talk to your operator and find if everything is fine.
same problem
I have exactly the same problem, I used Galaxsim Unlock to unlock my phone, I can not make/recive a call or send sms but i can surf the web in 3G.
can yo solve the problem? if so.. please answer the way you do it :good:

flash stock rom is not working for me
i´ve the same problem with a i9305
I have always had my I9300 rooted, there are way too many apps I don't use to keep it stock. But ever since I had it in for repair (unrooted of course) and got a new board because it lost Bluetooth connection, it has lost the network connections every time I root it. Network being both phone networks and hence, the internet connection. I got it back with Android 4.1.2, I rooted it and within 4 hours, it lost the network. I flashed a Android 4.1.1 and sent it in again, they did nothing butupdate it to 4.1.2 and it worked fine. I rooted this 4.1.2, and it lost connection again. This time, I overlooked the fact that I had forgotten to reset the flash counter and got it back with a polite note that they could not treat it under warrenty since I had rooted it and root frequently provoked the specific error, losing networks. And if I could install the official Android and show NO on the flash count, they would repait it for me. Nice treatment in a root-hostile world of warranty repairs ;=) I reset flas counter using Triangle Away, sent it in again, got it back for the third time and rooted it, same mess. No connection to network. Is this a device-specific error or IS it true that rooting can cause this error? It started with the new board, do the new boards have special sensitivity to rooting as a extra "HAH- you rooted and lost warranty"-function??????
Try a full wipe and fresh stock rom installation before using CF autoroot, backup your efs first though.
Rooting itself can't make any harm because it's just an app and binary, which is optional and works independent to your OS.
Personally I'd flash other rom and check if issue persists. Make /efs backup before.
I have been running CyanogenMod successfully on another GT-I9300 for almost a year - love it!
I recently bought another phone and have not been able to get the new phone to work.
The specific problem is APN settings are all blank and I am unable to save a profile.
I've read numerous forum posts here and attempted countless wipes, reinstalls, etc. but nothing seems to work.
Most recently, I tried to install a new modem zip.
If I revert to the stock-rom (via nandroid backup) and plug in a SIM card, it works great (send/receive, calls, etc.).
I have successfully connected to T-Mobile in the US and Telcel in Mexico (using the stock rom).
I am unable to get any custom rom to recognize either SIM card.
I've tried CyanogenMod, Carbon, and a few others. Same error.
Any help would be most appreciated.
hello - is anyone out there?
my most recent attempt has been to install cm12.1 from this thread:
same error ... sim card not be detected
any help would be most appreciated ... also happy to pay a bounty for anyone who can help me solve this
Blame the rom. If stock rom works yet cm doesn't you can safely assume cm is borked for now.

thanks for the reply
i have tried CM11-M8, CM11-M9, CM11-M10, CM11-M11, CM11-M12, CM12.1, Carbon, Beanstalk, and one other i don't recall
i find it strange that all of those ROMs are borked
i have several other i9300s and have successfully installed CM11-M12 with no issues
very frustrating
has anyone else experienced this issue and found a successful resolution?
I finally decided to take the jump and root today, tired of not being able to use the secure settings in Tasker/Airdroids Airmirror, and I've ran into a little problem. I successfully flashed the twrp recovery, got the Trapkernel installed, flashed SuperSU, and after booting back up everything works fine except for the WiFi. It's enabled, it sees my router and such, but it refuses to connect. Telling to do so does nothing. It just won't. Disabling/re-enabling doesn't work, nuffin. If I restore my backup before the kernel/supersu however everything works just fine. Am I doing something wrong? Is this some silly user error I'm too stupid to see?
Apologies if this is a frequently asked question or similar that I missed, I did some searches and couldn't find anything and decided to make a post.
It might be ur rom. Try flashing a different one and see.
