Hey all. Finally picking up the HTC Thunderbolt later today and was wondering about the apps. I currently have a Motorola Droid and was wondering if I had to manually install all my apps from the Market. Or if it syncs all my apps after signing into my Google Account.
If your Droid had Froyo, then they should automatically install. If you aren't sporting Froyo but are rooted, you can use Titanium Backup to back everything up, copy the stuff to your new SD card, then install them that way. The paid version will install them all at once.
Yeah it won't "automatically" do it but it will from there on

figure I can post here instead of make a new thread. i backed up my app + data of angry birds and a couple of other apps but am having a problem restoring angry birds and angry birds seasons (others restored fine). i backed them up, copied the titanium backup folder from my old sd card to my new one, then tried downloading the app then restoring data, data + app to overrite the app, and also restore data + app when i did not have the app installed. every time i get a force close when i try to install/uninstall the app and my phone ends up locking up. any help? im not sure of the exact procedure to restore this way.

Some apps may realize your on a different phone and freak out. I actually had some games on my OG droid that hated being restored via titanium even when i upgraded from stock to custom roms. I had to just sacrifice the saved data and start over. I just started everything from scratch on my TBOLT from my og droid, so i dont know if there are issues or if your an isolated incident sorry.

Hey guys,
Forgive me if this question has been covered, I did plenty of searching without finding what I was after.
I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
My question is, how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
For reference, I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a
Thanks.
Hey Guys,
So no body knows how to delete the link between app and Android Market so that the Market no longer knows it's installed?
Or am I best copying the app somehow, uninstalling it and then side-loading it?
Thanks.
Using Titanium Backup (Pro) long click/press on the app you want to 'disconnect' from the market.
Then select Detach from Market
I added (Pro) because I'm not sure if it works on the standard version or not..which I'd highly recommend getting the pro version if you don't already have it.
Awesome thanks for the tip, I didin't know there was an extended menu if I long-pressed an app in Ti Backup.
Though once I long-press, 'Disconnect' is greyed out. And in fact, all my apps have this greyed out (And I do have pro), yet they all show in Android Market?
'Force Attach to Market' doesn't seem to do anything either.
Weird, I'm able to Detach the market link of both /data and /system apps - some of which I do and do not have backups of.
I'm not sure if this will really do anything, but you can always try using the "market doctor" to find missing market links, then see if you're able to remove the link that it finds. But to be honest, I'm not really sure that will do the trick nor do I have any clue why that option isn't available to you
Only other thing I can think of is to clear the market's cache/data:
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Market
click force stop then clear data & clear cache
If they're both blanked out, just use TiBackup to wipe the market data.
After all that, see if you're able to Detach the Market Links
Hope this works

Thanks for the help.
Looks like clearing the data from the Market app (as you described) has allowed me to detach my apps from the Market through Ti Backup now.
That's not how I managed to do it though. I did it a far more complicated way!
I made sure I had a backup of the app, then uninstalled it.
I then browsed to the Titanium Backup backup folder on the internal SD card, and found the *.properties file of the app in question.
Long press on it and opened it in Text Editor.
I then deleted out every line that started with 'market.'
I then saved it, and Ti Backup automatically creates a backup of the original file.
Then I restored the app.
But to get this process to work, I also had to clear the Market app data (as per your tip).
Did I mention complicated!

Not sure I'll get a reply on an over a year old thread but worth a try. I tried this method but didn't work for me. When restoring the app did you restore data also? Thanks.
I'm still here!
The app I was trying to disconnect from the market I don't think had any real data to restore, so I don't think I was restoring data as well, no.
I'd say both the Market (now Play Store) and Ti Backup have changed a fair bit since this post. Ti Backup does have the ability to detach apps from the Play Store, if you find it in the app list and long press it will show the option. Some apps I think won't detach, and it could be because they're linked to your google/gmail account (for certain permissions or whatever). If they remain linked to that account, then I guess the Play Store still thinks it's installed on the phone (because it is).
Sorry I couldn't be of any more help!

Thanks for the reply. The app I wanted to break from the market is Business Calendar Pro that I bought a while back. The new updates don't work with the ROM on my phone so I wanted to stop the updates. I have MyBackup Pro and it has an option to break the market link but doesn't work. I haven't bought Ti Backup but use the free version. I don't want to buy it just to find that it won't work. I don't think Biz Cal uses google data but it does us the built in calendar's data so that might be why I can't break the link. Oh well. I'll keep trying different options. Thanks again.
Hi, not sure if this will do the trick but you could try extracting the APK for the app (not sure if TiB can do it or this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extract.apk) And then uninstall the market version and side-load the extracted version. I have a feeling it may not work as sometimes when I've side-loaded beta versions the released version has shown up in the Play Store as installed. When I try and uninstall it from there, the Play app tells me the app wasn't installed from Play and gets me to confirm uninstall.
I guess that's the long way of saying that the Play Store app must be using some mechanism to detect apps installed on the phone, even if not from the store.
Thanks again but the market seems to keep the data linked somehow. I'll keep trying different scenarios I guess...
did you find any method that work?
Honestly I haven't had time to mess around with it this weekend, but I'll keep up on the research and post here if I find something out. Thanks
Titanium Backup is not working for sure, at least for now, maibe they'll fix this sometimes!

We are aware of the detach apps not working. This is mainly because of the recent upgrade from google market to google play. We are working on it but Google Play is really stubborn! We need your help to "star" this post so that it comes into notice by Google

Yea. I figured that. Glad I didn't buy either to try them. thanks. It sucks but will have to deal with for now I guess.
found a fix
Hey. So I was looking around some more and found an app called "market fixer" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer&hl=en
It seems to scan apps that aren't linked to the market. The other thing it does, if you "scan all links", is give you all your market links which you can then select and "delete market link"
I check and it works. Also some reported it stops working on reboot, but mine worked fine. The app does warn that it will need to be reapplied if market data is cleared. Just wanted to update you and hopefully help anyone else with these troubles
Hi. I just gave this ago and worked very well. Thanks for finding that out and sharing.

update
update on market fixer. I guess if you clean google play cache it relinks also. easy enough for me to use market fixer before I "update all" though so no prob for me.
Hi, sort of an odd request.
I usually use Titanium Backup on flashing new roms to restore what I have previously purchased. Recently I got two free apps of the day from Amazon, and downloaded one (Drisk) which I want to purchase now.
Problem is I restored on flashing a new rom, and tried the link to market on these apps. I have detached it in Titanium Backup and uninstalled the app, but the problem is now even on the web browser, these apps are incorrectly showing as purchased, so I cannot buy them which is what I want to do.
I have cleared all market data, detached in TB, uninstalled, and it still thinks I bought them, but on install it states declined.
How can I undo/fix this so I can buy these apps through the official market?
Update, in the event others have this issue. I had to detach from market in TB, uninstall, then clear data/cache for the Market app. It seems after waiting they gradually correct the status in the market. I have been able to buy 2 of the 3 apps now, just waiting for the last one to show as non-purchased again.

Hello! I am so unbelievably desparate I'm almost ashamed of myself hahaha did this method work for you? I "obtained" an emulator and then the market believed I had purchased it and now am unable to buy it so I can own the amazing app....so disappointing. Contaced Google and the developer--only Google answered and with the generic "We are aware of this problem and are currently working on it." I'm curious...once I detach from market through TB, how long must I wait until the option changes from "purchase" to buy?"
I have tried installing omega 7.1 about 8 times now following the following instructions to install it.
- backup settings (call log, sms etc.) via samsung
- butch backup user apps via TitaniumBackup ( backup all user apps with their settings)
- backup TouchWiz home via TitaniumBackup
- create TitaniumBackup update.zip
- full wipe (as recommended in the OP)
- flash Omega using Default installation
- start android
- setup samsung account and restore settings (call log, sms etc.)
- skip google setup
- reboot to recovery and flash TitaniumBackup update.zip
- butch restore user apps via TitaniumBackup
- restore TouchWiz home (only data) via TitaniumBackup
- setup google accounts
- setup mail accounts
The ROM install goes well, fully functional and my settings back as they were, my problem is that I prefer to have the stock toggles on the drop down menu. When I revert them to stock with the Omega file kitchen files I do indeed get my stock toggles back and fully functional. But after doing that my SMS sounds are sometimes none existent, by this i mean that when receiving an sms with the screen locked the screen lights up and the sms envelope appears at the top on the status bar but there is no sound or vibration, I have toggled the notification icon in the toggles and it is green, i have even tried re toggling it to no avail. I have noticed though that it seems like all system sounds have gone too when this happens, so then I check all of the sounds settings and they are all fine, then all of a sudden sounds kick in again, weird? this is not happening on the stock ROM because I have tested it a few times between trying to suss this problem out. So when the sounds come back again I try again and it does the same thing. Its impossible to have transferred any settings as I started system settings from new each time. I know you will say "well don't revert the toggles to stock" but I am pretty sure that one of my tries that it happened before doing that,
Can anyone help, or is anyone else having the same issues when reverting to stock toggles?
I've had the same problem for a very long time...with all roms....the only way I fixed the issue was not using titanium back up and starting from scratch? For some reason titanium back up corrupts the files .....I instead imported everything from gmail

Were you able to have backups of you apps from any method? I have lots of infor stored in my apps that I cant really lose. and did titanium corrupt even if you didnt save any system settings, just apps and app data?
Like I said, I started from scratch....which meant I lost app data....I also tried just adding just my contacts....still the same issues....one thing I didn't try was just adding the apps....give it a go.

OK, I just tried a totally fresh install of omega 7.1 I downloaded all of the apps direct from google play, I deleted all of the titanium backups just so they couldnt get in the way. i didnt touch the rom from its default and I am still getting the problems with sms sound, I did a system wipe factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik and formatted system partition, I didnt even change anything back to stock in omega, just left it as it comes, so then i reinstalled my stock rooted backup and it works perfectly again. weird

So can i put this kernel into omega 7.1?? Im a noob at this
I have cured this issue now, Omega 8.1 has been released, so just to make sure that I didnt transfer any bad settings over I did it all from scratch, I also un-checked google backup initially incase there were any bad settings / back up in there too, and I did not use nor install titanium backup. after installing everything step by step I tested the sms sounds in numerous ways and not it works perfectly, the rom is nice and smooth too, so if anyone has problems with SMS sounds then grab the omega v8.1 rom, thank to everyone for your suggestions.
I never use titanium backup, but I waned tried because I have a game called candy crush and I don't want to start over again. What I have to do?, just back up the game and then after put the new rom just look for the game on titanium backup and that it? I'm going to update my current Ron hyperdrive RLS 8.1 to 9. thanks..

Well 2 things, if you have it synced to your Facebook then it restores on its own.
But without Facebook, yes. Backup app AMD data. Then look for your backup (try to backup to your SD card in case you erase internal memory)
But if you haven't gotten far in candy crush, you might as well sync with Facebook, you can't go past level 40 or something unless you ask 3 friends for tickets

Ok so this is a pretty strange issue. On my Galaxy SIII, I just upgraded to 4.4. I have 3 Google accounts with paid apps, but am trying to consolidate that down to one, so I don't have to sign in to all of them to get my apps, and I often get 403 errors when updating. I know the apps don't transfer, and I will have to repurchase them with this primary account. I am fine with that. However, Google Play doesn't seem to like that idea.
I did a clean flash, and signed into only this primary account. However, the Play Store is somehow saying that the apps I've purchased with my other accounts are purchased with this primary account. But when I try to install them I get a stupid 403 error. Even stranger, I installed Titanium Backup, and it's magically saying I'm using the Pro version (I purchased the key with one of the other accounts, have not installed it).
When I look in my browser at the apps I purchased with accounts other than my primary, it says they are already installed, even though they are not. I've tried everything I know. Does anybody have a clue why this might be happening or a solution?
Titanium Backup has a feature called Market Doctor which scans for all your Play Store links, and you can use it to break them too. That'd be the first thing I would try, because it's easy and I'm lazy. lol
Thanks. I was able to install using TiBu, use the 'Detach from Market' option, and uninstall to get it working.
New, unrelated question. I'm trying to restore my SMS messages using TiBu, but it is continuously asking if I want to use TiBu instead of Hangouts as my SMS app. I have clicked No about 50 times so far but it keeps coming up. Any way around this?

Nope, you gotta do that on 4.4. Once it is done restoring it'll ask you if you want to switch back. This is normal behavior.

First off, I'm glad someone else had this problem, because I was about to post an almost identical thread.
I have an additional problem though...there are a few apps I would like to repurchase on my primary account for which I no longer have TiBu files. Any ideas for how I could get those back?

Hmm. Depending on what kind of app it is, you might be able to "find" them, install, use TiBu to break the link and uninstall so you can install them officially. Other than that, not really sure.
